Edward comes back so open and vulnerable to the revenge. Rewatching the final episode of season 1, as a precursor for tonight I rewatched Edward and Izzy.

-From his first scene in the episode, you can tell Izzy is panicking. He was nearly thrown overboard. He knows he does not have the fear or respect to be a captain to this lot. Maybe he is even worried for him and Edward. How can they avoid mutiny without Blackbeard? More than ever, he needs Blackbeard to make him feel secure. But he is not here. Edward is. Izzy and Ed have been Blackbeard for a long time. I don't think Izzy even remembered what Izzy and Ed could be without Blackbeard.

- Edward is so lovely and brave. Despite immense amount of pain, suicidal ideation, the door of his heart that Stede entered is still open. He reaches out for community. I imagine he maybe even tried with Izzy. Cried and cried, told him what happened. But Izzy could not show him any sympathy. Hard to hear the man you love talk about how heartbroken he is about the person who took him away, but come on man.

- Despite being Edward. Despite almost reflexively, going in the opposite direction of everything Blackbeard, he still wanted to have Izzy around. His friend; even though Izzy had just recently betrayed him and destroyed his chance at real love he still treated him with trust. He didn't seem to blame him at first. He speaks to him so gently. Softer and with more consideration, then he has the whole series. Why why why could you not accept that Israel!?! Fucking Twat as he might say 😕

- The scene where Izzy confronts him is more devastating now. You can see how Edward is mending. Cleaning the room, leaning on his community. He is not an unlovable monster. He will be OK. He has his friends. One in particular...

- But then fucking Izzy has to go and say the absolute perfect thing to destroy Edward. He full out tells Edward all he wants is Blackbeard. He threatens Edward, convincing Ed a few thing: 1. If the man that you fell in love with abandoned you, and the other man you " loved as best you could" tells you point blank he does not care about "Edward" I guess Edward is unlovable. 2. Stede. Izzy, and the crew only care about Blackbeard. 3. All the reason they made Blackbeard, all the ways Blackbeard protects him, he has lost that and is now in danger. 4. That softer life, the life where he gets to have love, a community, and tenderness...that hope Stede gave him. That's all gone. All he has now is pain and survival.

I love Izzy since the new season, but watching these scenes again, I would have let the crew throw him overboard.

He shot himself in the foot long before Ed took the leg. I have so much sympathy for him in hindsight but fuck
