Hypothetical Path of Radiance Support, Soren and Sothe
I would have liked there to be more supports for Soren in Path of Radiance considering how important he is to the plot. I also would have liked to have seen more of how sensitive he is to the moods of others beyond Ike, as Titania suggests that he has always been empathetic to people in Chapter 11 of the game.
Also, since Soren spent a number of years in his childhood looking for someone important to him, and Sothe is currently looking for someone important to him in the game I feel it would have been a good opportunity to explore their parallels (especially considering how important Sothe is in Radiant Dawn).
So, here is a script format of what I believe their support conversation line could have been like in Path of Radiance.
Support Ranks 2/6/11
[C Support, First viewable at Chapter 13 A Guiding Wind Base]
[Soren appears on far left side]
Soren: …Hmm…nothing left here… Hm?
[Sothe appears on far right side]
Sothe: …
Soren: We already know you’re here. Why are you hiding?
Sothe: …Habit.
Soren: You’re Sothe, right?
Sothe: Yeah, that's my name. …
Soren: …Ike said you came aboard to look for someone in Begnion?
Sothe: Yeah.
Soren: A member of your family?
Sothe: It's-- …sigh…She's special to me. Family works, I guess.
[Branching Conversation, Chapter 13-17]
Soren: Begnion is a large country, larger than Crimea. It will be difficult to track her down.
[Branching Conversation, Chapter 18 on]
Soren: We’re going to be marching a lot during this war. It will be difficult to track her down.
[Conversation Continues]
Sothe: I tracked her down to Port Toha from the other side of Crimea. I'll find her.
Soren: … …I wish you luck finding this person. We'll be heading out soon, make sure you don't leave anything behind.
Sothe: Sure. …Thanks.
[B Support, First viewable at Chapter 18 Crimea Marches Base]
[Soren appears on middle right side. Sothe appears on far left side.]
Soren: Have you had any luck finding her?
Sothe: No.
[Branching Conversation, Chapter 18]
Sothe: …She had been to Sienne, but she left a while ago.
Soren: What will you do now? Do you have any clues?
Sothe: They said she headed north. Nobody in the town we just passed knew her, though.
Soren: If you keep going north with us, you'll be heading to Daein, and there will be war. It won't be easy to search for her.
Sothe: …I think she's headed to Daein.
[Branching Conversation, Chapter 19 on]
Sothe: …I found a few people who had seen her in Sienne, but she had left there a long time ago. They said she had headed north, to Daein. I was hoping to find some clues around the army…but…nothing…
Soren: If you want to keep looking for her, you may need to reconsider staying with us…battles can break out at any time, it won’t be safe to keep searching for her as we march.
[Conversation continues]
Sothe: I don't mind the danger, and she's-- …She's good at staying out of trouble…
Soren: …You'll feel better when you see her safe.
Sothe: Um… You-- you think so?
Soren: Until then, you should trust in your ability to find her, and her ability to stay out of trouble.
Sothe: I think the fastest way to find her now will be to win this war against Daein so all the fighting can stop.
Soren: That's probably true. We'll be setting out at first light, so get some rest.
Sothe: …Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.
Soren: …You're welcome.
[A Support, first viewable from Chapter 24 Battle Reunion Base]
[Sothe appears on far left side]
Sothe: Rrgh…
[Soren appears on middle left side]
Soren: If you keep stabbing your dagger into the ground, the blade will dull.
Sothe: …
[Sothe's eyes close]
Sothe: …
Soren: …You didn't find out she died, did you?
[Sothe's eyes open]
Sothe: Hm?! … …No, it's--
[Branching conversation, Chapter 24]
Sothe: …The next town over is where she left me. I woke up in the morning, and she was gone.
[Branching conversation, Chapter 25 on]
Sothe: …A while ago we passed by the town where she left me. I woke up one morning, and she was gone.
[Conversation continues]
Soren: Oh, that's--
Sothe: I just don't understand it! We had been talking about how much fun we were going to have, exploring Crimea. It sounded so much nicer than Daein. And-- And she just left me… …
Soren: …You'll find her again, and you can ask her about it yourself.
Sothe: …I don't know if I can. I want to. But it's been so long.
Soren: … …I spent some time looking for someone special to me when I was about your age…
Sothe: Really?
Soren: It seemed impossible at the time, but I found them after a while. I had to. You'll find her.
Sothe: You're right. I will…
Soren: People don't really remember names, especially of those passing through their lives. They remember things that make certain people stand out, hair, or eyes, or their energy. If you focus on what makes her unique, you'll have more luck.
Sothe: … …Thanks. When this is all over, I'll try that.
