We have detailed the means used to unlawfully convert the political status and identity of Americans by both of the Municipal Corporation Subcontractors housed in the District of Columbia.
The British Territorial Subcontractor began the process in the 1920's, with the Shepherd -Townsend Act, ostensibly addressed only to U.S. Citizens, but grossly and indiscriminately applied to all Americans without disclosure and without instruction and without provision of remedy.
Once the Autochthonous Americans were unlawfully converted via registration to the status of British Territorial U.S. Citizens, their estate became subject to the public interest established by the Cestui Que Vie Act of 1666, and the Bar Association Members acting as Undeclared Foreign Agents representing the British King's interest in the estate latched upon it, issued titles upon it, and used it as collateral subject to hypothecation of debt under Admiralty Law.
The British Perpetrators received the credit thus generated for their own benefit and for the Monarch's benefit, without consideration for the  Americans they were impersonating and misrepresenting -- but to whom they actually owed "good faith service". They purposefully and unlawfully evaded their own obligations under The Constitution of the United States of America by misrepresenting and illegally registering American babies as British Territorial U.S. Citizens.
The City-run Municipal Subcontractor followed up with their own much older version of the same scheme, establishing an interest in the victims' estates by assuming the existence of a deceased twin represented by the Afterbirth materials, assigning the name and estate to this deceased "brother" or "sister",  and preying upon the resulting infant decedent estate via the use of foreign Municipal probate courts.
In both cases, the Subcontractors have run an Executor de Son Tort scheme based on identity theft or identity substitution, to control the assets of the victims and gain means of extracting both assets and credit from the victims without their knowledge or consent.
This was done in violation of several major treaty series agreements, including the Treaties of Versailles and Paris, at least two major International Conventions -- both the Hague and Geneva Conventions -- that the Subcontractors signed, respectively, and their respective Constitutions which they evaded by secretly altering the political status of their victims. This is also in violation of Ecclesiastical Law which requires that corporations operate lawfully.
These Municipal Corporations, their franchises, and their Agencies have used the foregoing unlawful conversion schemes to support and fund a host of other criminal activities: mercenary wars for profit, impersonation, human trafficking, regulatory fraud, deprivation of rights under color of law, press-ganging, kidnapping, inland piracy, fraud upon the courts, conspiracy against the Constitutions, undisclosed enfranchisement, inland piracy, illegal confiscation, illegal securitization, illegal latching, illegal imposition of titles --- all of which are unlawful activities, too, racketeering, extortion, false witness, grand larceny, piracy on the High Seas, gross Breach of Trust, privateering, unlawful conversion, hijacking, bank fraud, counterfeiting, violation of service contracts, violation of solemn treaties and conventions, and most recently, wholesale genocide for profit.
To say that things have gotten out of hand would be a gross understatement and the necessity of repairing these wrongs is self-explanatory.
Our claims and our demands for remedy, full cure and maintenance, and notice of our standing before the living God have all been served, provided Due Process, and have been cured in all three primary jurisdictions. Our claims presented herein have been documented internationally for over two decades, as have been the claims of Lord Ivan Talbot, Hereditary Lord High Steward of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, who, at about the same time and similar to us, realized that the land and soil jurisdictions of these countries had been vacated in violation of sacred trusts and agreements owed to the living people.
Additional and similar wrong-doing impacted the members of the former British Commonwealth, herein represented by Australia, and similar unlawful and illegal and immoral practices have led to illegal and prolonged occupation of and profiteering throughout the seventeen western European nations occupied at the end of World War II, Japan, South Korea, Iraq, Libya, and other countries that have similarly suffered attack and illegal occupation by undisclosed mercenary forces of the British Territorial Government(s) operating as Municipal Corporations and flying Title IV Flags which we all claim back from the Universal Postal Union.
Let this serve as Due Notice that our seats of government have never lapsed and our Title IV Flags have been abused for unauthorized, unlawful, and immoral purposes by the offending Municipal Corporations and their commercial franchises.
We are owed the immediate liquidation and/or forfeiture of these Offenders and their respective commercial franchises as assets illegally commandeered by foreign powers and commercial interests operating under color of law, and as corporations operating unlawfully and under conditions of secrecy for decades during which time hundreds of millions of people have been defrauded and harmed.
On behalf of approximately 320 million Americans who have been illegally and unlawfully deprived of their rights and property by undisclosed registration processes and approximately two billion people living in other countries who have been similarly defrauded and injured via all the foregoing as well as the current genocide-for-profit engendered by these Municipal Corporations, we call upon the Pope and the Vatican Chancery Court and the Ecclesiastical Law to perform the necessary actions to remove these fictions from our sight.
Sincerely,
The United States of North America, in the Family of Nations/ Law of Nations

Blair Adams
On July 5, 1996, Surrey, British Columbia resident Blair Adams withdrew most of his money from his bank account and emptied his safe deposit box of cash, jewellery, gold, and platinum. He then attempted to enter the United States via ferry from Victoria, British Columbia, to Seattle, Washington. Immigration officials flagged him as a possible drug courier due to the large amount of cash he had with him. Once he was found to have convictions on drug and assault charges he was denied entry. In the early morning hours of July 9, he was discovered by Canadian border patrol officers attempting to cross the border on foot at the Pacific Highway Border Crossing. Officials noted Adams had scratches covering his legs and hands. Adams matched the description of a man implicated in an automobile theft, and the vehicle had been discovered abandoned near the Pacific Highway Border Crossing; however, Adams denied involvement, and he was freed on lack of evidence.
Adams managed to enter the United States by car on July 10, 1996, via a Nissan Altima he rented from the Vancouver International Airport. He arrived in Seattle, where he then purchased a roundtrip ticket to Frankfurt, Germany at the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Adams had previously worked on a project in Frankfurt for his stepfather's construction company; he had also dated a German woman in Frankfurt, though she later told law enforcement he had never contacted her about visiting. However, Adams subsequently forwent the flight to Frankfurt, and instead traded his credit for a one-way ticket to Washington, D.C.. Upon arriving, he rented a Toyota Camry at Dulles Airport around 6:45 am. Later that morning, on U.S. Route 250 in Troy, Virginia, Adams backed his car into another motorist's vehicle, causing minor damage. The driver of the car told detectives that Adams "seemed nice, but was in a hurry."
Adams arrived in Knoxville, Tennessee sometime on the evening of July 10, 1996,approximately 500 miles (800 km) southwest of Washington, D.C.. The first reported sighting of Adams occurred at a gas station at Strawberry Plains Pike in Knoxville at 5:30 pm. Gerald Sapp, an Interstate Repair Service driver, had been called to the gas station; Adams had told the clerk there that he was having difficulty with his car key, and was unable to enter the car. When Sapp arrived, he realized that the key Adams had attempted to use was for that of a Nissan Altima (the vehicle he had abandoned in Seattle), not the Toyota Camry he was driving. Sapp recalled: "I asked him to look in his pockets. I said, ‘If you drove this thing up here, you gotta have another key in your pockets.’ And he wouldn’t look. So I thought he was nuts. He was bound and determined that he had the key he needed for that car." Sapp arranged to have the car towed to a local repair shop, and dropped Adams off at the Fairfield Inn in Knoxville.
Upon his arrival at the Fairfield Inn, Adams was captured on closed-circuit television footage in the hotel lobby. Adams spent around 40 minutes loitering at the hotel before purchasing a room with US$100; when the hotel clerk attempted to return his change, Adams exited the lobby and walked outside. It was later determined he never entered the room he purchased. According to an autopsy report by the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Adams had sustained many cuts and abrasions. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department has speculated some of the wounds came from fending off an attack. Adams also suffered a violent blow that ruptured his stomach. His official cause of death was ruled sepsis stemming from an abdominal perforation. He also had a wound to his forehead, which police determined was caused by a crowbar or a club. It was also believed Adams had been sexually assaulted, though no DNA evidence was found to confirm this suspicion.

"Taking credit for trees planted elsewhere is a whole lot of embodied irony"
Architecture firm Perkins&Will has gone too far with claims that a luxury timber home on a Canadian mountain removes more atmospheric carbon than it emits, argues Fred A Bernstein.
For much of last winter, Perkins&Will, an architecture firm with 25 offices from San Francisco to Singapore to Sao Paulo, used a photo of a wooden house in British Columbia as one of the "hero images" on its website.
The house, which sits alone on a mountaintop overlooking the Soo Valley 90 miles north of Vancouver, is certainly beautiful, but the firm had other reasons for splashing it across its homepage. The 321-square-metre dwelling, known as the SoLo House, is meant to be a model of sustainability.
Entirely off the grid, it is designed to operate with power from 103 solar panels on its south facade, a 96-kilowatt-hour battery pack to store electricity for nights and cloudy days (both of which are frequent in British Columbia), and a hydrogen fuel cell for winter.
With all that equipment, the house may well be able to function without utility hook-ups. But Perkins&Will has made a far more surprising and audacious claim: that the building's structure is "beyond carbon neutral," meaning that it will remove more carbon from the atmosphere than it emitted in the first place.
It seemed to be giving its clients permission to build willy-nilly at a time of climate crisis
In a slickly produced video on the firm's website, Perkins&Will architect Alysia Baldwin says the house "proves that buildings can counteract their negative consequences and act as a source of repair."
People listen to Perkins&Will, a firm that has positioned itself as a leader in green building. "For nearly a quarter of a century, we've been at the vanguard of the sustainability movement," its website declares. Journalists have tended to repeat its claims.
But this time it had gone too far. By constructing a showplace of a house on an otherwise pristine mountaintop, and claiming it had helped the environment by doing so, it seemed to be giving its clients permission to build willy-nilly at a time of climate crisis.
Looking at SoLo House, with its cathedral ceilings, its comfortable sectional sofas and its giant picture windows, then listening to Perkins&Will claim that its structure reduces atmospheric carbon, I'm reminded of the old punchline: "Who are you going to believe – me, or your lying eyes?"
Reducing a building's contribution to atmospheric carbon means making it small, keeping it simple, building it near existing infrastructure, avoiding the need for heavy equipment such as batteries and fuel cells and using the lowest-embodied-energy building materials.
Reducing a building's contribution to atmospheric carbon means making it small
Perkins&Will, normally an excellent firm, has done those things on other projects. But with SoLo House, it seems not to have even tried.
According to experts, 40 per cent of atmospheric greenhouse gases come from buildings. Some emissions are attributable to running appliances and systems – so-called operational energy. The rest comes from the power needed to produce the building in the first place, known as embodied energy.
Incredibly, Perkins&Will is claiming there is "no embodied energy" in the house's structure (by which it means the elements that keep the building standing). To its credit, the firm answered requests for information promptly, providing facts, figures and charts prepared by Baldwin and her colleague Cillian Collins, a senior architect.
Here's how Baldwin and Collins arrived at their no-embodied-energy claim: First they estimated the amount of structural wood, steel and concrete in SoLo House. And then they turned to Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings, an app that approximates the amount of energy needed to produce given amounts of each building material and the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere as a result of that energy use.
Athena told them that producing the steel and concrete, harvesting the wood and so on in SoLo House released 122 tonnes of CO2 (sometimes called CO2e, for CO2 and its equivalents) into the atmosphere.
That should have been the beginning – not the end – of the process of calculating the building's embodied energy. There are hundreds of other items that needed to be counted. Start with the roof. The walls. The windows (a massive item, given the need for triple glazing). The solar panels, the batteries, the hydrogen fuel cells. The furniture. The appliances. The plumbing. The heating and cooling systems. Lots and lots of insulation.
The list goes on. Each of those items has significant embodied energy. Transporting all of those materials to a remote mountaintop site adds more.
Perkins&Will failed to account for those sources of embodied energy. Baldwin was clear, in a letter to me, that the calculations were limited to the structure. But why would anyone stop there? According to Baldwin, it's because structure "represents the largest contribution to a typical building's embodied carbon impacts."
It may also be because Athena only applies to structure. (Athena is meant primarily for comparing how the choice of a structural material affects a building's embodied energy. An architect might enter plans for the same building, once with a concrete frame and once with a steel frame, and see how the embodied carbon figures differ.)
Of course, there are other ways to estimate the house's total embodied energy; one method is to use an online tool called Tally, which provides information on the embodied energy of numerous building components. Counting everything isn't easy, but other firms have done it.
Perkins&Will had a way of making it vanish, if not from the atmosphere then from the balance sheet
Even so, according to Athena, the house emitted 122 tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere. That sounds like a lot of carbon, but Perkins&Will had a way of making it vanish, if not from the atmosphere then from the balance sheet.
Much of SoLo House is made of wood. Wood, like all plants, is produced by photosynthesis from ingredients that include carbon dioxide. Thus trees are said to store (or sequester) carbon. They do, but probably not as much as people think, as I learned by studying the question at length.
Here's Perkins&Will's theory: If you cut down a tree and use the wood as a building material, that carbon sequestered in that tree becomes part of the building. Then, if you plant a new tree in place of the one you cut down, the new tree will sequester additional carbon as it grows. Thus the process (cutting down one tree, planting another) results, net-net, in carbon being removed from the atmosphere.
There are so many problems with that theory it's hard to know where to begin. To name a few:
1) You have to be sure a new tree will be planted in place of the one you cut down; will get to be as big as the one you cut down; and will live a long, healthy life. (If a tree burns, or decomposes, as billions of trees do every year, its embodied carbon is released right into the atmosphere.)
2) You can't waste any of the wood. That's a problem because converting a tree into lumber usually turns half the wood into sawdust or chips, which could end up being burnt or allowed to decompose. This problem alone suggests carbon sequestration figures should be cut in half.
3) The wood has to stay in or on the building for a very long time. If the building needs repairs, and lumber is removed, it may be recycled, but it may also be burnt or allowed to decompose. And who'll be watching in 20 or 50 years?
4) Let's be honest: You could have planted the new tree somewhere else, and not cut down the first tree to begin with. For that reason, no number of trees excuses a wasteful building.
5) Even if the new trees do sequester carbon, the process will take decades. Scientists who study global warming warn of tipping points and thresholds, some of which could be reached within the next ten years. If new buildings help push atmospheric carbon levels to a point of no return, the sequestration accomplished by newly planted trees will be too little, too late.
6) It's a logical impossibility. If you really believe SoLo House repairs the atmosphere, all you have to do is build enough SoLo Houses and climate change will go away. Now for our next trick ...
No number of trees excuses a wasteful building
No wonder the theory is highly controversial. A whole lot of things have to happen just right for it to become a reality. As Baldwin wrote in an email: "We acknowledge that not all timber sources perform equally in the realm of embodied carbon reduction."
"Much of the embodied carbon reduction achieved by timber is directly attributed to sustainable forestry management practices that ensure forestry operations are carried out in a way that allows forests to remain healthy and viable for future generations," she added. "These practices include conservation and protection, land use planning, regulation of timber harvesting, establishing practices to ensure forest regrow, and continuous monitoring and reporting to government."
She went on to admit that the tool used to determine the building's sequestered carbon, WoodWorks Carbon Calculator, a product of the Washington-based Wood Products Council, considers "much of this storage to be temporary and therefore [does] not give the building a carbon credit for the carbon dioxide that will eventually be released from this wood some time down the road, through decay or incineration."
But that didn't stop the firm from banking on the theory when it performed its embodied energy calculation. Using the Carbon Calculator, it determined that the amount of lumber in the building would result in the removal – through the planting of new trees – of 145 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere. That's a bit more than the 122 tonnes the firm says the building's timber, concrete, and steel released into the atmosphere.
Converting a tree into lumber usually turns half the wood into sawdust or chips
So in this case, reducing E (embodied carbon) by S (sequestered carbon) produces a negative number – minus 22 tonnes, meaning that building the house decreased the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. (Indeed, the house's owner, Delta Land Development, refers to it as "climate positive.")
Perkins & Will firm produced a chart to make this clear:
As Baldwin puts it, SoLo House "is able to store more carbon in its structure than was released during the production, manufacturing, and construction of the project."
That's a highly suspect statement. Based on everything I've learned, E (embodied energy) may be much greater than Perkins&Will says it is, and S (sequestered carbon) much lower.
In a letter responding to points in this article prior to publication, Perkins&Will wrote the following (the client, Delta Land Development, did not respond to requests for comment):
"Through careful selection of low embodied carbon and locally sourced materials, the project prioritized a mass timber structure. The design team used industry-accepted LCA [life cycle assessment] tools to quantify the carbon sequestration potential of the structure, and the timber structure is modelled to sequester 145 tonnes of CO2e as biogenic carbon."
Reusing/recycling is always the greenest strategy
"Structural elements typically represent the largest embodied carbon profile of [a] project, and as such, the structure was prioritized from an embodied carbon perspective."
"As designers, we rely on reputable industry tools to estimate the impact of projects. We used the Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings to complete this assessment. Athena uses ongoing research by the Athena Institute and complies with ISO 14040 (environmental management, life cycle assessment, and principles and framework) and ISO 14044 (environmental management, life cycle assessment, and requirements and guidelines)."
"Per our previous correspondence, we shared the Athena Institute's definition of biogenic sequestered carbon, which considers the whole life cycle of the material, including extraction, manufacturing, forms of transportation, installation, repair and maintenance, and end of life (assuming reuse of the wood)."
However, if Perkins and Will had really wanted to reduce embodied carbon, it would have thought about some of these strategies:
1) Putting the house in an easily accessible location, thus cutting out hundreds or thousands of trips by delivery people and construction workers. (Perkins&Will points out "that the wood was sourced from within British Columbia, and the building panels were manufactured in Pemberton, BC, which is located 30 minutes from the site.")
2) Renovating an existing house. Reusing/recycling is always the greenest strategy. Renovation typically generates 50 to 75 per cent less atmospheric carbon than new construction.
3) Choosing a site where there are no trees to cut down. According to Perkins&Will, "A clearing was required for a driveway, solar access, and fire protection. It required harvesting 180m³ of second-growth hemlock timber. This wood was put into the BC forestry chain, becoming useful lumber." Taking credit for sequestration by trees that may have been planted elsewhere, while cutting down enough trees on site to fill a five-meter by six-meter by six-meter container, is a whole lot of embodied irony.
4) Making the house a lot smaller. When it comes to saving energy, less is definitely more.
5) Choosing versions of steel and concrete with the lowest embodied energy (a lot of research is being done on ways of making those materials less "carbon-intensive").
Perkins&Will appears not to have done these things — the actual work required to reduce carbon emissions. The danger is that people will believe its claims.
Fred A Bernstein studied architecture at Princeton and law at NYU and writes about both subjects. He has published articles about embodied energy – a significant component of the climate crisis – in Oculus (a primer), in Architect Magazine (an admonition to architecture critics) and in the Architect's Newspaper (a warning that efforts to make buildings resilient are often detrimental from an embodied energy standpoint).

Kate steps up: The making of a future Queen
Revealed: The crack team building and shaping the Duchess of Cambridge's royal future
By Camilla Tominey, Associate Editor
7 February 2020 • 9:00pm
Tumblr media
It has been exactly a month since Harry and Meghan announced that they were stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family. For the past eight weeks, column inches have racked up about the ‘Megxit’ bombshell and its impact on the institution of monarchy.
Yet amid all the hysteria and hullabaloo, one of its most important members has been serenely going about the business of keeping calm and carrying on.
Until now this kind of understated behaviour may have been most closely associated with the Queen, but it is her modern day equivalent, the Duchess of Cambridge, who has been quietly putting duty first with increasing visibility.
A recent UK tour to launch her landmark survey on early childhood, combined with well-received visits to Bradford and Mumbles, may at first look like Kate making a conscious effort to fill the void left by her brother and sister in law.
Yet as has ever been the case with the middle class girl from Bucklebury who married into the Firm almost a decade ago, that would be to underestimate a woman who has never made a show of her royal role.
Motherhood to monarch
Having discreetly spent the past eight years beavering away on the causes closest to her heart, Kate has finally found her voice and is determined to use it. No longer willing to be seen but not heard, sources say she is now ready to commit the rest of her working life to raising awareness of the importance of childhood - and its impact on adult life.
Although she never took the credit for being the inspiration behind the Heads Together mental health campaign spearheaded by William and Harry - having witnessed its extraordinary impact, there is a sense that the Duchess has finally realised just how much she is capable of.
“The Duchess has worked quietly away in the background for years,” said one well-placed royal insider, “And now she knows that people want to hear from her”. No longer as fearful of public speaking, and fast carving her own path out of the shadows, Kate’s landmark online survey '5 Big Questions on the Under Fives’, will mark the start of decades more work on the subject, according to aides.
“It’s much easier to speak out when you know what you’re talking about and passionate about your subject,” added the insider. “She has become an expert in early years learning, she understands the science and is respected in the sector because she has spent the past eight years working it out. But she also wants to find answers. This is about evidence based research.” The first results of the childhood survey are due next month.
Kate’s gentle yet inquisitive manner was never more on display than when she met wheelchair-bound Harvey Bentley, 90, in Mumbles on Tuesday. The warm exchange was filmed by Mr Bentley’s son-in-law Mike Sutton-Smith
This kind of reaction is certainly welcome after arguably the most testing period for the monarchy since Diana’s death. With two of the so-called ‘Fab Four’ poised to set up their own projects in North America, the focus for the Cambridges will not only be on putting duty first but in a non-partisan, but an extremely effective way.
As one observer noted: “It is a bit of a paradox, having such a naturally introverted person in such a high-profile position. I think that’s what people find endearing about the Duchess. She’s not a showy person. It’s a deeply British trait.”
And one which she certainly shares with Her Majesty who also has a quiet confidence and sense of reserve when interacting with the public.
Of course, accession may still be decades away, but preparations for the royal couple to become the next Prince and Princess of Wales were already well underway before Harry and Meghan’s move to Canada.
Yet while efforts had previously been ploughed into elevating the status of the man who would be king - there is a new, and arguably even more compelling project now fully in progress at the palace: the advent of Queen Catherine.
So much so in fact that team of academics have been drafted in to help the mother-of-three shape her royal future, with input from the highest echelons of government and even the security services.
Likened to a modern-day version of the Way Ahead Group, set up to rebuild the monarchy in the aftermath of the Queen’s ‘annus horribilis’ of 1992, the Duchess’s steering group of experts has informed her focus on early years learning and helped her to grow in confidence in her royal role.
Working royals putting duty first
As the royal couple prepare to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary next year, 2020 is set to be momentous for the Cambridges.
Projecting themselves as a family unit - and a relatable one too - has become a priority and was behind them agreeing to the prime time Christmas TV special with national treasure Mary Berry, which saw the royal couple cooking souffles while discussing the work of their Royal Foundation, the philanthropic vehicle for all their charitable endeavours.
With talk of trips to Ireland, Chile and Columbia already in the offing, and both having recently launched major charitable initiatives - including William’s Earthshot Prize - a multimillion pound project to ‘repair the planet’, the next 12 months will see the pair try to bring what one palace insider describes as the ‘calm after the storm’.
The source added: “What you are going to see with the Cambridges is a couple carved very much out of the Queen’s mould: Duty first.”
Having had three children in swift succession and with Prince George, six and Princess Charlotte, four, now in school and Prince Louis turning two in April, Kate’s priorities have shifted.
According to one well-placed source: “Over the last 12 months they have realised the potential power of their platform. They understand that by launching these long term projects they can genuinely make a big difference. They’ve been told clearly by people the impact that they can have if they pick the right spaces - things they care passionately about.”
Just this week we have seen William discuss diversity at the Baftas and his mental health initiative Heads Up, tackling the issue through football, has been well received. As with Earthshot, described by one aide as “the biggest thing the Duke has ever undertaken”, it’s about saying ‘we can do this’, rather than ‘this is too daunting’”, said a source.
“The Royal Foundation has been going for 10 years now. What they want to do is a smaller number of things on a bigger scale. For the Duchess, the early years work is something she will lead for the rest of her life. It's easy to dismiss it as nice and cuddly, but the focus is going to shift from how much childhood issues affect adult mental health and on the social side, it's as significant as climate change.”
While both projects and their recent visits to Yorkshire and South Wales had been in the diary for months, there is no doubt the ‘Sussex situation’ has escalated matters. “A hell of a lot of responsibility rests on their shoulders and they’ve just got to get on with it,” said royal author Phil Dampier. “I think they are both resigned to spending the next 30, 40, 50 years as heavyweight royals.”
A formidable asset
Government hopes are also being pinned on William and Kate flying the flag for post-Brexit Britain. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) was “delighted” with their highly successful visit to Pakistan last year, which helped to demonstrate the Cambridges’ worth to UK Plc. There emphasis will be on ‘youthful yet dependable royalty’ - demonstrating the power of the Royal Family both home and abroad as a formidable ambassadorial asset.
This was certainly on show last month as William hosted his first major state occasion - a reception for the UK-Africa Investment Summit - on behalf of the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Standing alongside his wife, many royal watchers noted how much more publicly demonstrative William had become towards Kate. During the reception he was uncharacterstically nostalgic, saying: “The African continent holds a very special place in my heart. It is the place my father took my brother and me shortly after our mother died. And when deciding where best to propose to Catherine, I could think of no more fitting place than Kenya to get down on one knee.” When a wellwisher in Mumbles complimented William on Charlotte, he replied: "Yes, she is lovely - just like my wife."
And it is this kind of gentle encouragement and support which is intended to propel his wife to the next level - where her dependability turns into the kind of ‘soft power’ which can affect real change.
Or as one insider put it: "They are going to be doing what politicians can't do, with such a comparatively shorter shelf life. Only royals can think about this scale of change on a generational basis - and that is what the Cambridges are determined to bring about."
A crucial appointment for Kate will be her next private secretary following the departure of Catherine Quinn, the Oxford-educated right hand woman who has helped to chart the past two years. The Telegraph understands a replacement is yet to be found and the Duchess is continuing to be supported by her assistant private secretary and Simon Case, the former civil servant who has been William’s closest adviser since July 2018. Case previously worked for former Prime Ministers David Cameron and Theresa May and that they are taking their time, searching for someone of Case's calibre for Kate is certainly telling.
The couple arguably have another, equally pressing legacy project: the future survival of the monarchy. William has certainly been working in ‘lock step’ with his father and grandmother to find a solution to his brother and sister-in-law’s desire to leave the Firm.
The Telegraph can reveal that the second-in-line was also much more involved in the decision for the Duke of York to step back from public life last November than has previously been reported.
When Prince Andrew travelled to Sandringham to hold talks with Prince Philip and Charles - he also held a meeting with his nephew, believed to be at Anmer Hall, the Cambridge’s Georgian country house on the Queen’s estate in Norfolk. According to a source: “William spoke to Andrew for about an hour. They met separately. The Queen and Prince of Wales both agreed he should be fully involved in the discussions - he is very much a part of what has become a triumvirate of decision-making these days.”
No Fab Four Anymore
As Joe Little, editor-of-chief of Majesty magazine points out, there needs to be a shift in focus now that Harry and Meghan have handed in their notice. “Prince Charles had hoped to have a slimmed down monarchy with his own children and grandchildren as the major players, but he has had to revise that masterplan in light of recent events.
“The House of Windsor was riding high for such a long time with weddings, babies and jubilees, William and Kate have got to restore some of that magic.”
Agreeing that the Duchess’s role will be key to ensuring a modern-day monarchy is fit for purpose, he added: “There’s a mystique about Kate like there has always been about the Queen.”
While Harry and Meghan appear intent on politicising their future role, for William and Kate it is going to be all about the three S’s: stature, strength, and stability

St Andrew’s-Wesley United Church
Vancouver’s monumental St Andrew’s-Wesley United Church, just a decade shy of its forthcoming centennial is reinvigorated with new life by international design practice Ryder Architecture, in collaboration with Prime Consultant, RJC Engineers, one of North America’s leading engineering firms. The renewal of this significant civic and architectural landmark celebrates the church’s historic features while promising longevity for the structure through key improvements to envelope performance, seismic resiliency, occupant safety, and accessibility.
Originally built in 1927, St Andrew’s-Wesley United Church boasts a Gothic revival style using sturdy locally sourced materials such as Nelson Island granite and Haddington Island stone by brothers and architects Twizell & Twizell.
While built with rigour, the historic stone-clad concrete structure has suffered years of natural deterioration and has resulted in leaking roofs, requiring intermittent repairs. The decline of the once elegant, plastered church interior initiated a broader investigation of opportunities for preservation.
RJC’s long-standing relationship with St Andrew’s-Wesley allowed the project team to envision a holistic approach for a successful restoration. Ryder leveraged its Building Information Modeling (BIM) expertise to facilitate an integrative design and construction process. Adam James, Principal at Ryder Architecture describes the process as “using a 21st-century skill set to analyze and facilitate remediation and upgrades that retain the building’s heritage value for the next hundred years.” Analog drawings and 3D digital scans created a detailed model of the most up-to-date existing conditions. The ability to visualize the model as layers of structure and better understand site conditions through digital excavation informed significant design decisions.
Michael MacLean, Project Lead and Associate at RJC, explains, “The entire team understood the importance of maintaining the building’s historic character while providing a revitalized structure that meets the Church’s vision for a modern-day gathering place.” The project’s comprehensive scope involved seismic retrofitting and substantial architectural, heritage, structural, building enclosure as well as electrical, mechanical, code, and acoustical upgrades. “It was an exciting opportunity to combine RJC’s in-house services and work with a solid consulting team with design expertise in heritage buildings. The team was deeply committed to working together, recognizing that this collaboration played a critical role in making the revitalization project successful, enjoyable, and something we, and the Church, will look back at with pride for years to come.”
Ryder and RJC considered the church’s history at the heart of the restoration process, respecting its character and charm while offering the most current amenities of a revitalized modern-day building. The locally quarried granite and stone façades were repaired and fortified on the exterior while a new copper roof was installed to resolve recurring leaks. Copper was selected for its durability, visual appeal, and historical compatibility. Structural work on the interior involved removing plaster from the walls and vaults; a meticulous casting process allowed the seamless replacement of surfaces and ornamental details. Other implementations include accessibility and mobility aids such as ramps and upgrades to audio and visual systems.
St Andrew’s-Wesley United Church officially reopened its doors after two years of renovation. Executive Director of Operations at St. Andrew’s-Wesley, Diane Mitchell, credits the team led by Ryder and RJC with “navigating the complexity of the project and delivering a beautiful result that the church can be immensely proud of.” As the first large-scale renewal in its history, the building showcases a seamless integration of old and new, inspiring a new architectural narrative as it continues to invite local congregants and international visitors to come together, worship, and experience the beauty of its exquisite sanctuary.
St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church Renewal project is the recipient of a 2021 North American Copper in Architecture Award and 2021 BC Heritage Award in Conservation.
