hi! I'm Toby (he/him), I've recently been wanting to get back into rping as I spent most of my late childhood early teens roleplaying :) I'm 20 and will not rp with minors as I am seeking a more mature rp experience and thus will have dark themes and sexual content, I miss the smut sometimes okay?

I consider myself on the average to slightly higher range of literacy, but if I'm sleepy or distracted typos will occur lol.

I will only do mxm RPs, and as I am transmasc I will definitely play transmasc characters most often.

It was a warm summer day, the sunlight peeked through the thick forest trees while the cooling wind softly blew, making the trees' limbs move like they were waving hello. A group of unlikely comrades had set up camp in the dense forest, hoping to rest their heads and get something in their bellies. But something was.. Off to say the least.

Most the camp was out looking for food and drink, the only three remaining at the camp were a drow wizard, Gale and Halsin.

Gale, however, had gotten bored and decided to take a nap, not noticing the mushrooms that started to sprout near his face. Still peacefully but Scratch noticed, the dog ran over. Pawing at the mushroom a little before barking at it.

Hiya! My name is Mud or Muddy, I’m 26, transmasc and go by he/him pronouns. I’ve been roleplaying for the past 15+ years as well as delving into TTRPG in the past 7+ years.

I’m looking for RP buddies to roleplay some Baldur’s Gate 3 with! Can be one-on-one or group RP, I don’t mind, but must be 18+. While I roleplay in a semi-lit to lit style (often three or more paragraphs) I don’t expect my fellow roleplayer/s to always be able to follow that, what I do ask is that you give me enough to reply to! c:I live in Western Australia so bear that in mind when anticipating responses, while I AM a bit of a gremlin and up at all odd hours, I do sometimes sleep ^^

I do tend to enjoy equal amounts of romance, adventure, angst, fluff, comedy and hurt/comfort in my roleplays (sometimes a bit of horror and/or thriller too!) and am open to NSFW and SFW. I’m also open to any combination of pairing (eg. m x f, m x m, f x f, any x any) and am happy to do Canon x OC, OC x OC or Canon x Canon. On top of that I’m also super soft for the found family trope so I really enjoy strong friendships and familial bonds just as much as romance.

Just as an addition to the above paragraph, I am on the ace spectrum so while I am perfectly comfortable with and open to NSFW, I don’t want it to be in every scene. I’ve had roleplays like that in the past where the other person wanted to add a *lot* of spice in nearly *every* scene and it burnt me out pretty quick and made me a little uncomfortable at times.

My favourite characters are Astarion, Karlach, Halsin, Wyll and Jaheira with a big emphasis on both Astarion and Karlach. Preferably I would like to roleplay something Astarion-centric at the moment, but I am open to other characters as well! My preferred method of roleplaying is via Discord but I can also RP here on Tumblr if you wish.

Why do you think in video games, romanceable characters are often limited by gender and race and not based on how you play the character?

*Asks are sent for fun, no pressure to answer within a certain amount of time or at all.*

It depends on the game, really.

If you're telling a story where the character's sexual orientation is a factor, like Dorian in Dragon Age Inquisition, then, yeah, your player character's gender should matter. And sometimes the limitations say something about the character and the world they live in. In Baldur's Gate 2, Viconia wouldn't romance elves. This was likely because, despite all the personal growth that she had, the old bad blood between drow and surface elves still lingered or it was the game's desperate attempt to make me play something other than an elf

But when it's not used to add to the story? I think it's frequently a reflection of who the higher ups in the development chain think the game is for. BG2, which I believe is the original romance-in-your-rp-game, had three female romance options and one male (out of 16 companions, 10 of which were men). It was very obvious that female players were not prioritized in the slightest (the characters were also all straight, of course).

There's also the whole "realism" factor that people tend to bring up. Personally, I rather have all characters be "playersexual" than having to look up romance options beforehand and design my character after the preferences of the one I think I'll want to romance. Games are meant to be fun and they take a lot of hours to complete. I don't want to have to start over because the character I thought I'd romance turned out to be a dud. If the game includes dragons, magic, aliens, etc I think we've all already agreed that realism comes second to fun anyway.

#I must stress that Baldur's Gate 2 is my favorite #I love it so much #formative experience #and you better believe I played a half-elf man to romance Viconia and always will #but it came out in 2000 and female players and queer people hadn't been invented

- Writing Style: 3rd Person, past tense. I can get a little wordy and borderline purple prose, so it can be anywhere from 4-6 paras to a whole ass novel. I’m not concerned about my partner’s writing length as long as it’s a couple paragraphs and you give me something to work with. Two sentences and/or not helping move the plot along for several messages is where i draw the line, typically.

I’m also ghost friendly. I would absolutely prefer if you told me ‘hey, this isn’t working for me’ but I won’t chase you down or badmouth you for disappearing. Sometimes life happens, sometimes people don’t gel. I’m cool with that. I will also never bug you for a reply. I might drop a check in message if i haven’t heard from you in two or three days, and I will send ship art/dumb memes in the meanwhile, but we’re all adults and have lives. Rping is a hobby and that’s how I will always view it.

Naturally since I'm at work, I'm thinking too much about what costumes to wear for Sakura Con in March. I'm definitely being Clorinde from Genshin as part of a group. I've still never played, but the other Genshin cosplayers are amazing, and it's fun to join. (And I mean, I haven't seen a costume from that game I don't love)

I used to go crazy and bring like six different costumes, but since I'm not going to stay nearby in a hotel this year, I'll calm down a bit and just have two or three. So I'm thinking Human Luna, or Dark Lady from Sailor Moon for the other(s).

I definitely want to do something from Baldur's Gate 3 soon too, but I just know myself, and that I won't have it ready by the convention. Definitely by PAX West though! (Still thinking Jaheira, but it's hard to decide!)

It's been really hard getting back into cosplay too, because I've gained a lot of weight, especially in my face, and it's been almost twenty years since I started, so I don't look or feel as young as I used to, which makes me pretty much hate looking at myself in any picture or costume. Like thankfully the one on my profile pic has a mask that I can hide under, so I like that one! But hey, just have to make sure I take a lot of Myspace angle pictures!

I've also been prioritizing playing games more than making costumes these last few years, which makes it so I buy more stuff, or don't spend as much time crafting, sewing, and otherwise honing my skills. But I used to be hyperfixated on cosplay, and now it's LOTRO RP and certain OCs, so I guess I have to do what my brain wants! (But I can do other stuff as a treat)
