Episode 05
Uk blijft me fascineren.
The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty
Episode 03
Love Is More Than a Word
Episode 09
About Youth
Episode 02
😮💨 Zak.
Hopelijk beseft Ray dat hij beter verdient.

kim jisoo. she/her. cis woman. › spotted at the met steps , nayoung lim , most likely listening to girls like me don't cry by thuy with their airpods pro . the twenty eight year old gained quite a reputation , known to be -uppish yet +cosmopolitan to anyone who knows them . you'll easily spot them when you hear about the sweetened scent of her cherry lip gloss kissed on your skin as she steals your attention , the inability to catch up despite chasing for so long , using pink airpod max headphones to drown the sound of incessant chatter , and never forgetting the smell of her perfume long after she ghosted you , followed by benevolence limited edition by house of sillage . latest nepoupdates article talks about heiress nayoung lim walks away from $3.5m proposal claiming cold feet— will the it girl heartbreaker ever commit ? , but i guess any reputation is good reputation .
hi angels ! i'm monday ( twenty6 , eastern , she/they ) and i'm returning with a brand new muse ! for my pronouns , please feel free to use either , but don't use one exclusively , thank you ! intro and header template are a variation of the sugar baby psd set and the divider is from the #kittygirl psd set , both by strifesource .
LINKS : statistics. pinterest. wanted.
if someone were to ask about the story of the lim family , it would take much more time than what's given . the family's history is rich , delving back to the days of the joseon dynasty and the creation of haekyang group which has led to the family being one of the wealthiest in all of south korea . lim namgi is the second eldest son of the lim family , with movie star quality visuals and the inability to be tied down . in the latter half of the 1980s , namgi and his elder brother were often the talk of the town— who would be lucky enough to nab one of the most eligible bachelors in all of seoul ? both are academically inclined with seoul national university being their stomping ground , and for namgi , his world becomes flipped on its axis when he randomly bumps into kwon hwayoung one afternoon at starfield library .
hwayoung is as studious as she is beautiful , and if someone were to ask if she knew the lim brothers , she'd look at them as if they asked her for the formula to get to saturn . while the other people around her gossiped about the celebrity - like lim brothers , hwayoung had her nose tucked into her music sheets and her headphones were constantly playing the likes of bach or beethoven— she didn't have time for dating . getting into the music program at hanyang university had been hard work as she didn't come from privilege . she spent hours upon hours practicing her cello and studying , knowing that only a scholarship could afford her the education she desired . unlike namgi , hwayoung's parents owned a small but stable banchan restaurant that definitely couldn't afford to pay for a school like hanyang . her hard work , even working at her parents' restaurant despite her busy schedule , eventually paid off and she found herself studying at her dream school .
it's a random saturday morning , a rare day off for hwayoung to do as she pleases , when she quite literally bumps into lim namgi . the two end up exploring the massive library together , and namgi finds hwayoung to be a breath of fresh air . to hwayoung , he's just another boy who she'll never get to know , and will probably never hear from again . they trade numbers but she doesn't expect for him to call , but later on that night she gets a call from namgi asking her out for a date , and the rest is history . hwayoung and namgi become a happy couple within no time , and just two years after that fateful day , the two become engaged during a beautiful trip to paris to celebrate their anniversary . it takes nothing for hwayoung's dream wedding to come to life , even if it has to be put on hold when namgi is called to duty . their ceremony is lavish as is their honeymoon , and upon returning to seoul , the couple settle into their new lives : namgi is the director of development within his family's company and hwayoung is first chair cellist with the seoul philharmonic orchesta .
after six years of wedded bliss , hwayoung and namgi start their family . they welcomed their first daughter nahyun in 1993 , followed by nayoung in 1995 , nara in 2000 , and naeun in 2002 . for all four girls , they were raised in a world where they didn't have to want for anything . the girls were raised in the lap of luxury , with their days consisting of music lessons , dance lessons , and whatever else they loved to do , followed by a lovely sit down dinner with their parents every night . for second eldest daughter nayoung , she'd fallen in love with ballet from the tender age of five and even picked up on the piano . nayoung was a lovely child who grew into a popular teenager , attending one of the best schools in seoul alongside her sisters .
nayoung is as academically inclined as she is popular , landing her with an acceptance to snu much like her father and older sister . she studies design , with a particular interest in fashion . she eventually graduates , and having such a last name opens doors for her within the world of fashion . nayoung inserts herself into the fast paced world of seoul's fashion scene , instantly finding her place within the chaotic world . her instagram is filled with behind the scenes footage from seoul fashion week , and even her own styling work , which eventually lands her the job of stylist for a hotly anticipated girl group . after three years , and a few styling awards later , nayoung finds herself as a splash on the new york city scene when she's invited to her first new york fashion week and even featured within the likes of vogue .
it takes little convincing for then twenty five year old nayoung to make the move to new york , but she's no longer behind the scenes . she becomes a fashion week favorite , invited to sit front row by a number of fashion houses thanks to her impeccable eye for fashion . with her doll - esque features , it's no surprise that nayoung suddenly finds herself on the cover of magazines , with her very first being a cover and spread in vogue korea . over the past three years , nayoung has made her place within new york's social scene , having risen from just another girl in the fashion world to being one of the top fashion insiders and influencers .
nayoung wouldn't be as known as she is without having her name in a few headlines outside of fashion . every so often , nayoung was spotted with a new beau— actors , athletes , models , millionaires— you name it and her name was attached to them . most like to say that her relationships are the reason people know her name , but nayoung lets it all roll off her back . to some she's a not so pleasant word and so others she's just living her best life , not letting herself get too committed when she doesn't want to . most wonder if she's ever really serious with the people she's seen with , but only a few have made it to the status of instagram official .
HEADCANONS.
nayoung , with her status within fashion , was signed as the global ambassador for dior and dior beauty in late 2019 . initially , she had done a few ads for the brand , but was officially signed in october of that year .
she lives in a gorgeous brownstone in manhattan , priced at $4.8m . initially , she lived in a rented condo before she purchased the brownstone in 2022 .
when it comes to her headline , it is true and she won't deny it ! nayoung is often the heartbreaker in most of her relationships , preferring to end the relationship before it gets too far . walking away from the person who proposed to her hurt the most , even if she won't readily admit it .
personality wise , it's easy to get along with nayoung but it's also really easy to get on her bad side ! she is a loyal friend and partner , but break her trust once and it will take a long time for her to forgive you . she's charming and takes nothing for her to spark up a conversation with someone , even if it's her first time meeting them .
despite living in the lap of luxury from literally the moment she was born , nayoung isn't afraid of a little hard work . she likes to get dirty , and has a lot of fun doing things with her hands . nayoung has helped her mom with opening the new york branch of the kwon - lim foundation , which helps provide music and academic scholarships for underprivileged students in the state .

Your monarch(s) is given two options, hand the throne over to another noble family or abolish the monarchy all together. Which do they choose?
Hello, hello, my friend! What a good ask!
I've, actually, been thinking of this for Reasons outside of this ask and my conclusion is that they'd totally allow another family to rule. Most likely, it would be to a house they have relations with though, and I doubt the Reyes family counts / Viviane would give Lorri a crown ( @nexility-sims ). Therefore, it would have to either be: the Bach family, which the Rodchester house was actually created from, or the Egloff family, who aren't as closely related.
The Head of the Bach family is currently Josef Bach Schulke, who is Count March and Prince of Iona by marriage to Princess Rose Mary, aka Vivi's littlest sibling. He's also their third cousin, once removed, so ew.
The other option would be Countess Liselott Katrin Amalia Egloff, who has no kids or spouse to continue her lil dynasty. She's named after and descends from Elisabet Catrine Amalia, who was the wife of Everette I, which makes her Vivi's Third Cousin.
My personal vote is on the Bach family, but I see the case for Countess Liselott.

Loot:
Ganiras Linse / Jaghatais Todeslaser. (Fernkampf, Reichweite fern, Werte = Speer +W8, kann alle Macht in einen Selbstzerstörungsexplosion legen [hoffentlich hast du gute Werte in Werfen]).

Bach Ma Temple, Hanoi
February 13, 2024
Bach Ma, a Folk religion Temple is one of the four guardian temples of Thang Long (present day Hanoi).
The temple, constructed in the 9th century, is dedicated to Long Do, a Folk religion deity. Legend has it that Long Do overpowered witchcraft the Chinese are purported to have used during their rule to subjugate the Vietnamese.
According to lore, this deity appeared in the dreams of Emperor Ly Thai To informing him to relocate his capital to a location guided by a white horse. The horse tracks led the Emperor to Thang Long (present day Hanoi), where he built his new Capital.
To commemorate the deity’s support, the emperor moved the Long Do temple to the current location to be a guardian of the East and changed the name of the temple to Bach Ma (White Horse in Vietnamese).
Ly Thai To, the founding emperor of Ly dynasty (1009–1225) and the third emperor of Vietnam, post-independence from the Chinese in 939, unified the country under a centralized administration. The country then was known as Dai Viet, the then-name of Vietnamese Kingdom confined to the northern parts along the Red River.
Emperor Ly Thai Lo, to guard his city against malevolent spirits, built a guardian temple, at each of the four cardinal points surrounding the city. Bach Ma Temple is intended to guard against the malevolent spirits invading from the east.
It was very common in many S.E. Asian countries for the kings and emperors to build at each of the four cardinal points surrounding the city a temple, considered sacred, to honor spirits and deities who would guard his city and its inhabitants against malevolent spirits.
The shrine of the white horse that led the emperor to where to locate the guardian temple. During the Tet week celebrations, the locals visit the Bach Ma temple to pray and pay homage to the white horse.
So, what is Folk Religion?
Since ancient times Folk religions (or indigenous religions), associated with a particular group of people, ethnicity or tribe, have consisted of belief in fertility, worship of nature and spirits, and worship of man. Examples of folk religions include African traditional religions, Chinese folk religions, Native American religions and Australian aboriginal religions.
Folk religions often have no formal creeds or sacred texts. Gods (or Deities), sometimes numerous, if they do exist, can be ancient national heroes; imagined persons told in tales; spirits, often residing in nature (rivers, mountains, rocks); or even kind-hearted people. Often shamans act as an intermediary between a person seeking benevolence and the deities. Some of Folk religions' places of worship (houses of worship if at all they exist, or shrines at home) may also contain icons of other later-day religions.

Love and Beauty: Ancient Rome Exhibition in Beijing Highlights China-Italy Exchanges
— By Li Yuche | June 13, 2023 | Global Times
Featuring rare finds like a second century marble statue depicting the "Leaning" Aphrodite - the Goddess of Love and Beauty - an exhibition of ancient Roman art organized by China and Italy opened on Monday at the Beijing World Art Museum of the China Millennium Monument.
The Light of Ancient Roman Civilization is the second stellar cultural event in the past three months to feature Italy's top-notch cultural legacies in Beijing.
Besides ancient Roman art from the collections at Italy's National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN), 50 self-portrait paintings from Florence's Uffizi Gallery collection are also on display at the National Museum of China.
This Italian art in Beijing creates great momentum for China-Italy exchanges in 2023. The Ambassador of Italy to China Massimo Ambrosetti told the Global Times that the two countries' cultural communication has already become a "tradition."
Beyond Space and Time
A total of 69 Italian works, including sculptures of mythical European figures like Aphrodite and the god of wine Dionysus, are on display at the exhibition hall with the accompaniment of a live performance of Bach's prelude by a violinist.
These artworks that carry the charm of Greco-Roman philosophy were created around the time of first and second centuries, a period of time that was pivotal to the Western art world since it was during this time that its principles and perceptions on aesthetics formed.
Sculptures, Pompeii frescos and mosaics of extreme artistic value are not the only Italian treasures on display at the exhibition. Deceptively modern-looking glass cups and bottles and other everyday objects provide a window to view Europeans' ancient lifestyles.
These relics are only a small portion of the more than 3 million items in the collection at MANN, the first public museum in Western history. At the time when these artifacts showing Mediterranean civilization were created, the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220) ruled China.
Mario Grimaldi, the exhibition's Italian curator, said that the Beijing exhibition aims to relate "different but comparable aspects of Roman society" and "compare them with the Chinese one."
The exhibition's guide, MANN's director Paolo Giulierini, told the Global Times that while the show features only Italian relics, he is still able to imagine their counterparts in Chinese civilizations.
"The Roman empire and the Chinese empire are notable in history. When I see men and women depicted in Roman art, I can also feel the men and women in the Chinese context," Giulierini said, adding that the cultures of China and Italy met each other "beyond space and time."
Giulierini also introduced Italy's relic conservation strategy to the Global Times, noting that digital technology has become an essential part of archaeological exhibitions.
Giulierini said that, to provide a better visitor experience, MANN has developed a video game in Chinese that walks visitors through their collections and the museum's history. The game has been played by 2 million Chinese visitors.
Similar to China's creative attempts such as using 3D printing to create exhibits on the Mogao Caves and Yungang Grottoes, Giulierini said that Italy has also used digital technology to restore ancient art.
He said he looks forward to collaborating with China to recreate ancient buildings and sculptures in virtual reality.
"It is only through dialogue that we can break down the barriers that separate us and create a shared sense of humanity," Giulierini noted, adding that he believes museums are "not just a repository of objects," but a "non-political neutral space" to assist cultural exchanges.
Continued Tradition
Ambrosetti attended the Beijing exhibition's opening ceremony, during which he said he believes shows like this are not just for "presenting or restoring" works of art, but also for learning about the "civilizations that made the artworks."
In the mid-1990s, he was already familiar with Chinese culture as he studied the art of porcelain in Beijing.
An art lover, Ambrosetti noted that China-Italy cultural exchanges have long been a tradition, with notable figures like Italian voyager Marco Polo, who came to China along the ancient Silk Road, and Matteo Ricci, an Italian missionary who brought Western knowledge about subjects such as geometry and geography to China.
The current exhibition isn't the only event to carry on the tradition of China-Italy cultural exchanges in the contemporary age. Another art exhibition featuring 82 Italian Renaissance artworks was held to celebrate the China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism in 2006.
This Culture and Tourism Year tradition has been continued for decades. Addressing China and Italy's shared "bilateral comprehensiveness," Ambrosetti said the cultural partnership between the two countries will continue.

Here is a brief timeline of the history of Vietnam:
Prehistory:
- Archaeological evidence shows that humans have lived in what is now Vietnam for at least 30,000 years, with early civilizations including the Dong Son culture and the Sa Huynh culture.
2nd century BCE - 10th century CE:
- The region that is now Vietnam was part of the Chinese Han Empire for much of this period, with Chinese culture and language influencing Vietnamese society and politics.
- The Trung sisters led a rebellion against Chinese rule in 40 CE, but were ultimately defeated.
- In the 10th century, the Vietnamese kingdom of Dai Co Viet was established, with its capital at Hanoi.
Dai Co Viet was an early Vietnamese kingdom that existed from the 10th to the 11th century. It was founded by Ngo Quyen in 939 CE, after he defeated the Chinese Southern Han army at the Battle of Bach Dang River. The kingdom was known for its military strength, cultural achievements, and political stability.
- The name Dai Co Viet means "Great Viet of the Ancient Era," and it was intended to distinguish the kingdom from other Vietnamese states that existed at the time.
- The capital of Dai Co Viet was at Hoa Lu, in what is now Ninh Binh Province in northern Vietnam. The city was strategically located on the Red River delta, which allowed for easy access to both the sea and the interior of the country.
- The rulers of Dai Co Viet were known as the Ngo dynasty, and were succeeded by the Dinh and Le dynasties in the 10th and 11th centuries, respectively.
- Dai Co Viet was known for its strong military, which allowed it to defeat invading armies from China and other neighboring kingdoms.
- The kingdom was also known for its cultural achievements, including literature, architecture, and sculpture. Notable works from this period include the poetry of Li Ho and the Bich Dong Pagoda.
- Dai Co Viet was a Confucian state, with Confucianism becoming the dominant ideology and shaping many aspects of Vietnamese society and politics.
- The kingdom's decline began in the late 11th century, due to a combination of factors including political instability, economic pressures, and invasions from neighboring kingdoms.
The legacy of Dai Co Viet can still be seen in modern-day Vietnam, particularly in the country's cultural traditions and political institutions. The kingdom's emphasis on military strength and Confucian values helped to shape the identity of Vietnam as a nation, and its cultural achievements continue to inspire admiration and pride among the Vietnamese people.
11th-19th century:
- Dai Co Viet became known as the Ly dynasty in the 11th century, and later the Tran and Le dynasties.
- Vietnam experienced periods of occupation by neighboring kingdoms, including the Mongol Empire and the Ming Dynasty of China.
- In the 17th century, the Nguyen dynasty was established in the southern part of Vietnam, with its capital at Hue.
The Nguyen dynasty was the last ruling dynasty of Vietnam, which lasted from 1802 to 1945. The dynasty was founded by Emperor Gia Long and was known for its political and cultural achievements, as well as its conflicts with colonial powers.
- The Nguyen dynasty was founded in 1802, after Emperor Gia Long defeated the rival Tay Son rebels and united Vietnam under his rule.
- The dynasty was named after the Nguyen family, which had been a prominent political force in southern Vietnam for several centuries.
- The Nguyen dynasty was known for its political and administrative reforms, including the establishment of a centralized bureaucracy and the adoption of civil service exams for government officials.
- The dynasty also oversaw significant cultural achievements, including the construction of palaces, temples, and other architectural landmarks. Notable examples include the Imperial City in Hue and the Thien Mu Pagoda.
- The Nguyen dynasty faced several challenges during its rule, including conflicts with neighboring countries and colonial powers. Vietnam was occupied by France in the late 19th century, and the Nguyen dynasty became a French protectorate in 1884.
- The dynasty also faced internal challenges, including rebellions and uprisings by various groups, including the Black Flag army and the Boxers.
- The Nguyen dynasty came to an end in 1945, when Emperor Bao Dai abdicated the throne in favor of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which was led by Ho Chi Minh.
The legacy of the Nguyen dynasty can still be seen in modern-day Vietnam, particularly in the country's cultural traditions and architecture. The dynasty's achievements in politics, administration, and culture continue to inspire admiration and pride among the Vietnamese people, and its conflicts with colonial powers are remembered as an important part of Vietnam's history and national identity.
- Vietnam became a French colony in the late 19th century, with French influence extending throughout society and politics.
20th century:
- Vietnam declared independence from France in 1945, with Ho Chi Minh becoming the country's first president. However, France continued to exert control over the country until its defeat in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954.
- Vietnam was divided into North and South Vietnam, with the communist North led by Ho Chi Minh and the South supported by the United States.
- The Vietnam War, a conflict between North and South Vietnam, lasted from 1955 to 1975 and resulted in the deaths of millions of Vietnamese people.
- In 1976, North and South Vietnam were reunified as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with Hanoi as its capital.
21st century:
- Since the end of the Vietnam War, Vietnam has experienced significant economic growth and development, with the country's economy becoming one of the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia.
- Vietnam has also become an increasingly important player in international politics and diplomacy, with the country hosting a number of high-profile events and conferences.
- However, Vietnam has faced criticism for its human rights record and limitations on political freedom and press freedom.
This timeline provides a brief overview of the history of Vietnam, but there are many more details and complexities to this story. Vietnam's rich cultural heritage and diverse political history have made it a fascinating and complex place, with a unique identity that continues to evolve and develop.

[".... American policy makers did not realize just how little they really knew about Vietnam— including that there was much more to know.
As a result, American policymakers failed to grasp, because they did not seek to discover, the historical enmity between China and Vietnam and thus to recognize that there were significant differences between Communists in China and Vietnam and the fact that Hồ Chí Minh, though a Communist, behaved primarily as a Vietnamese nationalist. They did not know the Vietnamese adage that the shape of Vietnam's coastline reflects a spine bent under the weight of China, its great neighbor to the north, with which it had fought more than a dozen wars dating back to 39 C.E. They did not know that, as a result, the Vietnamese developed an unyielding determination to resist foreign occupation at all costs, usually adopting guerilla warfare to wear down more powerful armies through hit-and-run attacks, avoiding major engagements whenever possible, and using their knowledge of local terrain to establish weapons caches and inaccessible hideouts. They did not know about the Battle of Bach Dang in 938 C.E.— as famous in Vietnamese history as the 1775 Battles of Lexington and Concord are in American history— in which Vietnamese guerilla fighters dealt a fatal blow to superior Chinese troops through the tactic of feint and strike. They did not know about the Lake of the Restored Sword in the heart of Hanoi, based on the legend that when the Ming dynasty ruled Vietnam, a fisherman named Lê Lợi found in his net a magical sword that empowered him to lead his people in a ten-year struggle that drove the Chinese out in 1428 C.E. and when Lê Lợi offered gratitude to the spirit in the lake, a giant golden tortoise snatched the sword and restored it to the depths. They did not know that when faced with the threat of French domination at the end of the nineteenth century, the Vietnamese had set aside their ancient suspicion of Chinese domination and pleaded with Beijing to come to their aid. American policymakers were conditioned so much that even if someone came to them with such information, they did not pay attention to it, or discarded it as irrelevant. The atmosphere of Cold War America did not encourage such attention or awareness, or the perceptions and distinctions that went with them, so government decision-makers in Washington— for not the last time— remained dangerously ignorant and therefore seriously underestimated ideological factors and seriously underestimated historical and nationalistic ones.
(...) Before making his first of what would prove to be many visits to South Vietnam in May 1962, McNamara received a briefing from Edward Lansdale in his capacity as deputy assistant for special operations to the secretary of defense. At the briefing, McNamara asked Lansdale to critique a list of factors he had drawn up to evaluate progress in the war against the Vietcong. All of them involved statistical measurement: number of enemy killed, number of weapons captured, number of operations launched, number of aircraft sorties flown, number of additional troops trained and equipped— the list covered many areas. Lansdale looked over the list and replied, "Your list is incomplete. You've left out the most important factor of all." "What is it?" asked McNamara. "Well, it's the human factor," Lansdale said. "You can put it down as the x factor"— without it, the list would be inevitably misleading. McNamara penciled an x on his graph paper and asked Lansdale what is consisted of. "What the people on the battlefield really feel; which side they want to see win and which side they're for at the moment. That's the only way you're ever going to have this war decided." "Tell me how to put it in," replied McNamara. "I don't think any Americans out there at the moment can report this to you," Lansdale answered. McNamara knitted his brow and began erasing the x."]

Although the using on this route is enjoyable, very interesting and much from the crushed path, it’s not a route that’s suitable for cruising. Rather, the small and generally uneven back-roads make for a slower, gentler tempo, to not point out the quite a few stops and breaks to have a look at the temples.
