Summary: Kim fucking Taehyung was notorious for being a pranker, a player and an asshole, and you hated him for it.

You got the surprise of the month when the Biology teacher handed back the geology projects. An A was more than you expected.
But it ended there, that was the only surprise you got that month. It didn’t surprise you when you got a C in Maths, nor did it surprise you when the Monday after doing Biology’s project at your house, Taehyung returned to being an asshole towards you.
You didn’t have another “normal” conversation with Kim fucking Taehyung since that Saturday. Not that you wanted to… Or that’s what you kept telling yourself.
September came to an end. You changed your short overalls for long ones. Your graphic t-shirts for oversized jumpers.
Jungkook loved Summer, he loved the sunny days and cool nights. He loved spending his afternoons with you in his backyard, while he read one of his comics and you listened to music on your phone. You loved seeing him so happy and full of life, but as Summer turned into Autumn, he changed. He was quieter than usual, even with you. He didn’t want to play to the PS4 with you anymore. He didn’t want to go to the forest with you to see how the greens turned into oranges and browns. He was fading like the days slowly faded into nights.
You asked his mom what was going on, and she told you everything was more than okay. You asked his father but he told you he had been acting like usual at home. You asked Jungkook, but he got angry at you and didn’t speak to you in three days until you apologised to him.
Eventually, you stopped asking Jungkook and his family about his weird behaviour, and as days passed, you started thinking that maybe it was a normal phase Jungkook had to go through.
“What’s wrong with you, girl?” Liz asked you while everyone took their places in the stage. “You’ve been missing all week and now that you’re here you’re missing too.”
You sighed, you had been going with Jungkook to his art classes in hopes of finding out what was going on with him and you hadn’t been to any of the rehearsals that week.
“I’m just worried about Jungkook,” you said, resting your head on your hand. You didn’t even know what scene you’d be rehearsing that day, so you were completely lost.
“About the same thing you told me a couple of weeks ago?” she asked, looking concerned.
“Yeah, he has been distant with me, and he has never been like that before,” you sighed again. “Well, at least not with me.”
Liz nodded slowly. “Maybe he just needs time, Y/N. At the end of the day he’s just a normal boy, only his social development is more delayed than ours,” she put a hand over your leg, trying to comfort you. “Maybe he’s going through that phase in adolescence where you act so emo and you want to be on your own, where everybody disgust you and you only want to kill them.”
You laughed a bit. “I think I’m still in that phase then.”
Liz laughed too, but she turned serious again. “Think about it. When he was ten, his social status was one of a five years old boy. Now that he’s eighteen, he’s acting like a thirteen year old boy.”
“So he’s just going through puberty?” you said. What Liz was saying was right. You had already gone through some of his “phases”.
“Yep, let’s hear it from a boy,” she said, turning around to call someone. “Hobi! Hey! Come here!”
Hobi obeyed and he soon was by your side with a frown on his face. “What?” he asked.
“We want to know how you felt about girls when you were thirteen,” Liz said.
Hobi seemed to think about it for a moment, smiling. “When I was thirteen? I was so afraid about girls, like they disgusted me but they made me… You know, feel horny at the same time.”
“What?” you said, scrunching your nose. “You were already horny at thirteen?”
“You start to discover certain things like- ” Hobi began to say again.
“No, no. Thanks,” you interrupted him. “I don’t want to know how you found out that jerking yourself off was enjoyable.”
You heard a laugh from behind you and you didn’t even have to turn around to know who that laugh belonged to.
“Eavesdropping is a bit pathetic, you know?” you asked, hoping that Taehyung would hear you.
“How can I not eavesdrop when you’re talking about jerking off?“ you heard him say.
“Fuck off,” you murmured, knowing he was already gone.
“Okay guys!” Lana said, clapping her hands to catch your attention as always. “As I told you last Wednesday, today we will be rehearsing the first scene of the movie, where Danny and Sandy kiss.”
Your heart stopped beating. You knew that day would eventually come, but you thought you’d have time to prepare for it before.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” you asked through clenched teeth to your “friends”.
“I forgot, sorry,” Hobi said, his eyes avoiding you like the plague.
“And you? What excuse are you going to come up with?” you asked Liz, burning her with your eyes. She smiled devilishly and you stopped her before she could say what she was about to say.
“Y/N, Taehyung stay on the stage, the rest of you will watch from the seats,” Lana announced, climbing down the stairs of the stage, like everyone else. You saw Liz giving you the thumbs up before climbing down too.
“Are you eager, Wallflower?” Taehyung’s asked you, appearing just in front of you.
“Yes, eager to end this and never see you again, Asshole,” you spat, not even looking at him as you looked for the scene in your script so you could at least read what was going to happen.
Taehyung laughed and showed you his perfect withe teeth. “Always so rude…” he said, his voice lowering down. “I like that.”
You lifted your eyes up from the script to found Taehyung laughing at you as always. You were going to tell him how disgusting he was, but you got interrupted by Lana telling you to move towards the end of the stage.
You kept reading your script the whole rehearsal, frowning when Taehyung didn’t even look at his.
“I’m going back to Australia. I might never see you again,” you said, with a more delicate voice trying to get into Sandy’s character. Taehyung was holding your arms, keeping you in place.
“Don’t, don’t talk that way Sandy,” he said looking at you in the eye. He almost made you nervous as his eyes examined yours. He was good at acting and he really liked it, you could see it in the way his voice seemed softer and friendlier.
“But it’s true…” you said, closing your eyes as if you were really hurt. You were good too, you knew it and you were going to show it. Maybe you hated Taehyung, but from the moment your feet touched the stage, you stopped being Y/N and Taehyung stopped being Kim fucking Taehyung to be Sandy and Danny. “I’ve just had the best summer of my life and now I have to go away. It isn’t fair…”
The moment you had been fearing the most had come. Taehyung didn’t even flinch when he positioned his pointer finger under your chin, making you lift your head up.
You opened your eyes, that were supposed to be filled with tears. In that moment you almost forgot that you were supposed to be Sandy and Taehyung, Danny. You saw his dark eyes and then his full lips. He wetted them with his tongue before approaching you…
But suddenly you were Y/N again and the boy before you was Kim Taehyung. Just the thought of kissing him made bilis rise in your throat, so you stepped back abruptly, separating from Taehyung’s finger, lips and eyes.
“What’s wrong Y/N?” Lana asked, standing up from her seat. “You were doing great.”
“I just… It’s just that…” you began to say.
“Oh, it’s almost seven!” she suddenly said, overlooking your struggling expression. “Well, guys, we’ll finish this scene on Monday and we’ll finish the others we rehearsed today too. Have a nice weekend.”
You sighed. You had been saved by the bell even thought there was no bell.
You didn’t look at Taehyung as you climbed down the stage.
“Y/N, Taehyung, can I speak with you two for a moment?” Lana asked. You nodded, approaching her. “You’ve been doing great, I think you both made an incredible couple, but you’re still uncomfortable around each other and we could see you tensing up every time you touch each other. I suggest you to rehearse on your own, at home or at school, with no people watching so you can get used to each other.”
No, no, please.
“Okay,” Taehyung said, making you want to strangle him with your own hands.
“Great,” Lana said, picking up her things and starting to walk out of the theatre. “See you on Monday. I hope you will have done some progress by then!”
You grunted when she was gone, going to pick up your own things.
“My house or yours?” Taehyung asked you.
You rolled your eyes. Did he never get tired of playing with you?
“How about none?” you said, hanging your bag on your shoulder and walking out of the theatre, followed by Taehyung.
“You heard Lana, we have to spend time together to relax. Why are you always so tense around me?” he said with a playful tone, of course he was teasing you again.
You laughed sarcastically. “Why am I always tense around you? Maybe it is because you’re fucking obnoxious!” you started walking faster towards Hobi and Liz, who were waiting for you in front of Hobi’s car. He stopped walking when he noticed where you were going.
“Bye Wallflower! I’ll talk to you about the kissing scene later!” he said.
“Fucking Asshole…” you murmured as you neared your friends.
“That was…” Hobi began saying.
“I just want to go out with you guys and have fun,” was the only thing you said before getting into Hobi’s car and getting drunk in a random pub with them.
It wasn’t the first time you had drunk so much you couldn’t even remember your shoe size. You only remembered a boy telling you your sneakers were lit and asking you what your shoe size was. The next thing you remember is waking up at Hobi’s with a headache heavier than an elephant.
“Turn that fucking phone off,” Hobi grunted from his bed.
“Ugh…” you said, turning away from the noise.
“It’s not mine,” Liz growled from next to you.
“Y/N!” Hobi shouted again.
“Fuck…” you said, standing up from Hobi’s bed, lifting your hand up to your forehead. “I feel like I’m going to throw up.”
“I might throw up all over you if you don’t turn that fucking phone off,” Hobi growled again.
You didn’t even look at who was calling you before answering the phone.
“Yeah?” you asked with a raspy voice.
“Y/N?” you heard your mother’s voice through the phone.
“Fuck…” you murmured, searching for your clothes that were lying all over the floor. “What the hell happened last night?” you asked your two friends, that were lying on Hobi’s bed, as you cupped your phone with your hand so your mom couldn’t hear you. “Mom, hey. What’s up?”
“What’s up?” she repeated your own words, sounding serious. “That’s what I’m asking myself right now.”
“I’m at Hobi’s. We stayed up until late and we slept in,” you said, sitting in the edge of the bed.
“And you forgot about your rehearsal date?” she said, sounding even more serious than before.
“What? What rehearsal date? It’s Saturday mom, I’ve nothing to do today,” you said, massaging your temples softly with your fingers.
“The rehearsal date you had with a boy named Taehyung,” your mom said, making you stand up from the bed as if it suddenly was fifty degrees hot.
“Taehyung? What? Can you explain yourself?” your voice sounded low and desperate, and you were.
“Yes, Taehyung. The boy has been waiting here for almost an hour now. He says he has been calling you but that you didn’t pick up the phone, so I told him you would surely answer the phone if I called you.”
“Oh my God…” you sighed. “What is Taehyung doing at home mom? Why did you let him in? I didn’t plan any rehearsal date with him.”
“Yes, you did. He even showed me the messages,” your mom was getting angrier, you could hear it in her voice.
“What the fuck? I haven’t sent him any message,” maybe your mom was getting angry with you, but you were getting confuse. What was going on?
“I don’t know, that’s yours and Taehyung’s business, not mine. Now come here and watch your language Y/N!” your mom said before hanging up.
“Holy shit, that was intense,” you heard Liz murmur while you let yourself fall onto Hobi’s bed.
The room was dark and you could barely see a thing. “What the hell happened last night? My head is killing me and my mother has called me to tell me that Kim fucking Taehyung and I have a rehearsal date.”
“What?!” Liz screamed, making you wince as the headache got worst. She stood up from bed, positioning herself before you. “What?!” she repeated.
“Yeah, apparently he texted me asking to meet at my house to rehearse our scenes and I replied yes. But I don’t fucking remember it. And can you two answer my question and tell me why I’m sleeping with you two and wearing Hobi’s clothes?” you asked, standing up from bed and picking up your clothes, knowing that if you didn’t go home your mom would give Kiwi to your grandma.
“You were so wasted last night,” Hobi said while laughing. “Liz and I had to carry you here and then the three of us had an incredible threesome.”
You opened your eyes so wide you thought they would fall into the floor. “What the fuck?!”
“Hobi!” Liz shouted, hitting Hobi in the arm. “We didn’t have a threesome last night. I mean, I would have a threesome with Y/N since she’s my best friend, but I can assure you we wouldn’t have a threesome with you,” you laughed when Hobi growled at your friend’s words. Liz hit Hobi’s arm again and started putting on her clothes like you were doing. “You were drunk and you were acting like a stupid four year old kid, so we brought you here, changed your clothes so you’d be comfortable, and since Hobi and I were drunk too, we did the same. End of the story. No threesome, no wild sex, nothing.”
“Not that you didn’t want it,” Hobi teased her, stretching on his bed.
“I swear I won’t be your bridesmaid at your wedding, it’d be the death of me,” you laughed as Liz and Hobi blushed. You shipped them in secret more than you ever shipped Brangelina.
“What wedding?” Liz said. “I’m not going to marry anyone, let alone Hobi.”
“Oh, sure. You’re one of those girls who doesn’t believe in marriage because they’re tough and independent women,” Hobi said.
You knew what would come next, they’d start arguing and you’d watch it from the corner of the room, hoping they wouldn’t involve you in the middle of his little war against each other.
“Okay guys,” you interrupted them when you were fully dressed. “I’m going now, have fun ripping each other heads. Love you!”
They didn’t even acknowledged you closing the door of Hobi’s apartment.
When you arrived home, your head was killing you. One: because of the incredible amount of tequila shots you had the previous night. And two: because Kim fucking Taehyung was waiting for you at home.

You hoped your mom hadn’t seen the entire conversation, specially not the dick part.
The black car parked in your driveway was unfamiliar. It must be Taehyung’s.
Before you could even open the door, your mom opened it, scolding you with her eyes.
“Come in, he is waiting for you in the living room,” she said, sounding angry.
“Okay, but let me take an aspirin first, my head is killing me,” you murmured hearing your cat’s purrs. Since Kiwi never purred you were curious about what was making your cat purr.
You peeked your head through the living room’s door. Taehyung was sitting on the couch, legs spread wide causing his black jeans to show every single muscle of his thighs. He was smiling widely and softly laughing as his eyes were fixed on your cat lying on his back on Taehyung’s lap. His hands were travelling over your cat’s tummy, making him purr and close his eyes.
“What?” you couldn’t help but say, making Taehyung’s eyes look from your cat to you. “I always pet him like that and he has never been… Like that.”
Your cheeks got red as the red haired boy looked at you from head to toe. You were still dressed in the previous night’s clothes; black skinny jeans and a baby blue blouse. It was nothing out of the blue, but it was nothing like what you usually wore every day.
“You look like shit. Had a tough night?” he said, snapping your eyes away from his, that were finally looking at your face and not your body. Your cat jumped from his lap to greet you.
“Thanks, it’s always nice to hear that,” you said, rolling your eyes and disappearing from the door frame. When you stepped into the kitchen, your mom was nowhere to be seen so you supposed she was in her bedroom.
You heard Taehyung’s steps behind yours as you filled a glass with water and took an aspirine. You swallowed both and placed the empty glass in the sink.
“You know, an aspirin is not the best remedy for a hangover,” Taehyung said, placing his elbows on the isle of the kitchen.
“Oh, yeah, I forgot you’re the hangover expert,” you said, with your back touching the kitchen counter opposite from where Taehyung was. “And what’s the best remedy, Mr. Hangover?”
Taehyung couldn’t hide his boxy smile. “Sex,” it was one word that fell out of his lips, three letters, but it was more than enough to make your cheeks redder than his hair. As he saw your reaction, he started laughing. “Oh my God, you’re such a prude.”
“I’m not a prude, but I don’t want my mom to hear us speaking about sex, that’d be gross,” you tried to hide your embarrassment, but it was too much for you to handle.
“Yeah, sure. We aren’t talking about sex anyway, I only mentioned it and you got all flustered,” he laughed again. He was laughing at you!
How could he be the most frustrating and irritating human being you had ever seen?
“Ugh, what are you even doing here?” you said through clenched teeth. “You come into my house without my permission, you pet my cat without my permission, you make my mom get angry at me and now you make me waste my time.”
“Woah, woah. Relax. First of all you were the one who said it was okay for us to meet here, you even told me not to be late,” he said in a mocking tone.
You let out a sarcastic laugh. “I can’t believe this. I was drunk and you made me think you were drunk too so I wouldn’t argue with you!”
“I didn’t know it, I wasn’t there to see if you were drunk or not,” his voice was low and a cocky smile was drawn on his lips, of course he knew you were drunk.
“You knew, I don’t type like a five year old every day,” you said, and Taehyung opened his mouth. You knew what he was going to say, so you stopped him before he could say it. “Save it, I know what you’re going to say. You aren’t very… Original.”
Taehyung laughed and you frowned. He only laughed when you got upset or embarrassed, what a lovely boy. “Well, are we going to rehearse or not?”
“And what are we going to rehearse?” you asked him, arching a brow.
“The kiss?” he said, mimicking you and arching his brow too.
“So eager about that kiss, huh?” you teased him.
“You wished, Wallflower. I’m doing this because I want to save you from humiliating yourself when you get all needy because of my lips,” while he spoke he mimicked the action of you kissing him. You huffed.
“You’re so full of yourself I don’t even know ho-” you got interrupted by your mom entering into the kitchen.
“Hey, weren’t you going to rehearse something?” she said, with a smile on her face.
“Yeah, we were about to start now,” Taehyung said, his mocking tone immediately turning into a polite one. Like he was a little Angel.
“Oh, perfect. I’m going to start cooking dinner,” you mom announced, opening the fridge and putting on the kitchen counter all the ingredients. “Do you wanna have dinner with us tonight, Taehyung?”
“No!” you said too fast, making them both look at you. “No. It’s Saturday night mom, I’m sure The Ass- I mean, he - has already made plans.”
“I’d love to, Mrs. Y/L/N, but she’s right. I’ve already made plans for tonight,” he said. You sighed. You were sure you’d have killed him at some point during dinner.
“Oh, what a shame. Well, you can come here and have dinner with us whenever you want,” you mom said while you screamed in your mind.
“Thanks, Mrs. Y/L/N,” ugh. Why was he acting like a good little boy?
Without saying another word, you climbed up the stairs, followed by Taehyung. You left your door open behind you, indicating Taehyung that he could step in.
He doubted for a moment before trespassing the entrance towards your room. When he was finally inside, he looked everywhere.
“It’s… Cozy,” he murmured, tracing the white wood of your headboard with his fingers, slightly touching the fairy lights that hung from it.
“The headboard?” you asked, picking up a Kit-Kat wrapper that had been on your desk for a week.
“No, your room,” he said, now his attention fixed on your posters.
“Oh, yeah,” you said, throwing the Kit-Kat’s wrapper and a couple of kleenex to the bin. “It’s small, but my parents let me decorate it myself, and I made the most of it. I guess is one of the perks that comes with being an only child.”
“You don’t have siblings?” he asked.
When you looked at him again, he was in front of your Kurt Cobain’s poster, admiring it up close. Why couldn’t he be always like that? He seemed so relaxed, his shoulders weren’t tense as always. He looked somehow smaller… Like a little kid while his eyes wandered over the posters hanging from your walls, in that moment, you swore the sparkles of his eyes could be seen from miles away.
A text message from Jungkook sent you back to the real world. A world where the boy you hated the most and the boy who had been picking on you and your best friend, was in your room, nosing around your things. The boy with the sparkling eyes and messy red hair disappeared.
“Nope, but you’re not here to ask me questions,” you snapped, making Taehyung smile. Of course he would smile. “Let’s rehearse that horrible scene and finish as soon as possible, you have plans and I have better things to do.”
“Right,” he said, approaching the shelf where you kept all your music. “Led Zeppelin?”
You huffed and took the cd from his hands. When your hands touched for less than a second, a shiver ran from your spine and stepped away from the boy.
“Stop nosing around!” you said, placing the cd on his place in the shelf again.
Taehyung scoffed. “I’m not going to break it, relax. Jeez, you sure are an only child,” he rolled his eyes but you just took the script out of the first drawer of your desk.
You started rehearsing most of your scenes, both of you already knowing them by heart from all the times you had rehearsed them before. You were postponing the kiss scene on purpose.
“… I’ve just had the best summer of my life and now I have to go away. It isn’t fair…” you said, dreading what was about to come.
Taehyung that was sitting right on the edge of the bed, stood up and walked towards you, his eyes never leaving yours. You were sure he could see you dying inside.
Maybe you hated him. Maybe he didn’t treat you right, but he was one of the most hot and beautiful boys you had ever seen, if not, the most. And you were trembling thinking that you were going to kiss him, even thought it was going to be an empty kiss, without feelings or emotions.
As he approached you, you could feel it. It wasn’t only attraction what you felt for him. There was something… Something that screamed at you from his eyes.
“Relax Wallflower, I’m not going to bite you,” he said, with a side smile on his lips. It was then that you realised you had closed your eyes. You opened them and your breath got stuck in your throat when you saw his rosy, full lips so close to yours.
Wallflower.
Wallflower.
“Just a peck,” was all you could say. He leaned towards you… But you stepped aside. “I don’t even get why we have to rehearse something like this.”
Taehyung huffed. “Because you panicked the other day in front of everyone. It’s not like this will be your first kiss, right?” he looked at you with a curious expression, waiting for your answer.
“Of course not!” you exclaimed.
“And then why are you so nervous about this?” he said with a deep voice. “It’s just a peck. A fucking peck. I don’t get why you get so flustered about it.”
“I don’t get flustered about it,” you said, stubbornly. “Of course it’s a simple peck. But a simple fucking peck with you, the most disgusting person on Earth,” your brows were furrowed and your fists clenched as you spat the word “you” with all the despair there was in your soul.
The boy flinched for a moment, but he collected himself so quickly you thought you had imagined the hurt you had seen in his eyes.
Just then, the doorbell rang. A few moments later your heard your mom’s voice and then she shouted: “Y/N! Jungkook’s here!”
Your eyes met Taehyung’s.
“I think I’ll get going,” Taehyung said, tearing his gaze away from yours as he picked his jacket and walked towards the door, your mom calling you again. When his hand touched the doorknob, you felt a pang in your stomach.
You had done nothing bad, did you? If so… Why did you suddenly felt so bad?
“See you on Monday, Wallflower” was all Taehyung said, not even looking at you, before finally stepping out of your room and leaving there all by yourself.
What…? Why did you felt like that? Sadness, guilt, disappointment… Why?
You heard a soft “hi” outside your room and after that, the door to your room opened. Jungkook appeared, a frown on his face and his eyes looking at you like he was accusing you of murder.
“What was he doing here?” he asked with a serious tone, so far from the playful he usually had.
“We were rehearsing something from…” you stopped speaking for a moment when you heard a car’s engine outside. “From the drama group.”
You could see Jungkook was still a bit hesitant about it, but the frown disappeared.
“Why are you here Kookster?” you softly said, happy that your friend wasn’t avoiding you anymore.
“I… I came here because you didn’t answer my text,” he said, sitting on your bed.
“Oh, right, I forgot. Sorry Kookster,” you said, unlocking your phone and reading the message.
Kookster: My mother has ordered pizza.   19:31 PM
Kookster: It’s too big for the both of us. Do you want to come over?  19:34 PM
“Sorry Kookster, I didn’t see it, I was rehearsing with Taehyung,” you explained. Jungkook suddenly removed himself from your bed, slightly caressing his butt.
“Ouch,” he said as he stood up and picked something from your bed. It looked like a wallet. “It’s yours?”
“No,” you said, approaching Jungkook and taking the wallet in your hands. It was a plain black, leather wallet. “It must be Taehyung’s. I’ll give it back to him on Monday,” you said, placing it over your night stand. Your best friend was finally there to talk to you, Taehyung was the least of your problems right now.
Jungkook simply nodded, sitting again on your bed, being the shy and quiet boy he was. But it was yet strange, because over the years he had opened to you and he was nothing but quiet around you - but he was still shy.
“Well, did you want to talk about something?” you asked, hoping he would tell you what had been going on.
He shrugged. “Can we just play to the PS4?”
You knew pushing him would make him leave, and you didn’t want him to. So you nodded. You spent the rest of the afternoon and most of the night playing a Lego Batman videogame. He had dinner with you and your parents as he used to do, getting away from Kiwi when your cat got near him. You knew something was up with your best friend, but Hobi and Liz’s words kept replaying in your head.
Maybe it’s just normal.
You knew your best friend’s behaviour towards you wasn’t normal. Jungkook was never good with words, you knew he instead expressed himself with his eyes and hands. You knew that, even thought he didn’t want to tell you what was going on, he was trying to tell you.
Jungkook wasn’t okay and you knew it.
But there were only two paths: the difficult one, which would involve you asking a million questions and Jungkook answering none of them, just getting angry at you. But eventually, you would find out. And the easy one - the one you chose - in which you ignored what he was trying to tell you and listened to what other people told you instead.
You: you left your wallet at my house  11:32 AM
You typed as soon as you woke up, looking at the conversation with the “unknown number”. If that Asshole thought that you’d save him in your contact list he would have to wait for the rest of his eternity. You spent all Sunday drowning in math notes and waiting for an answer from Taehyung that never came.
On Monday morning you took Taehyung’s wallet with you, securely kept in your backpack, so you could give it back to him. When you stepped into your first class you waved towards Jungkook, who was waiting for you in his usual seat, then you looked towards the row of seats Taehyung and his friends used to sit on. Taehyung’s friends were there, but not him. Maybe he was late, it wouldn’t be the first time. You thought about handing the wallet to one of his friends so they could give it back to him, but then they would start asking questions like: why do you have Taehyung’s wallet? And then you’d have to answer: he left it at my house. And they would ask again: what was Taehyung doing at your house? And you’d have to tell them about the drama club and the musical and everything you didn’t want anyone at school know about.
So you kept the wallet in your backpack for the rest of the day. It wouldn’t be the first Monday Taehyung wouldn’t go to school because partying went wrong on Saturday night. He didn’t answer to your text, and you hoped that maybe you’d see him at drama club. But you didn’t.
You just wanted to give him his fucking wallet so you could ignore him again.
The next day he wasn’t at school either, and when classes ended and you finished your homework at the library with Jungkook, you decided that you’d go to his house and give it back to him. When you waved goodbye to Jungkook in the parking lot, he looked like he wanted to tell you something, but when you asked, he just said “never mind.”
Your head was so occupied with Taehyung and his wallet, that you didn’t pay enough attention to your best friend and you let it slide. Again.
Sat in your mom’s car you took out the black wallet from your backpack and opened it. You didn’t want to nose around, you just wanted to know where he lived. You took out his ID card and looked at his address.
“Woah,” you said as you parked in front of his house.
His house was made for King Kong’s size itself. It was white, with a big front yard. You climbed up the stairs of the porch and with trembling hands, you knocked on the door. You hadn’t seen any light on, but you hoped he was at home because his black car was parked in the driveway.
A couple of minutes went by before the door was opened, revealing a tired and dishevelled-looking Taehyung. When he saw you there, he frowned.
“I came here to give you back your wallet,” you said, handing him the black object.
He frowned even more, carefully grabbing the wallet as you extended your hand towards him with the wallet in it.
“How do you know where I live?” he asked, serious. “I never told you where I lived. Did you stalked me?”
“No, it’s on your ID card,” you said, wanting to leave as soon as possible.
“Oh, so you rummaged through my wallet?” he asked again, he was not teasing you, he somehow sounded angry. Your cheeks turned red at the fact that he thought that you stalked him.
“I just wanted to give it to you, okay?” you sighed, starting to walk away from the door. “Bye.”
You turned around and just when you were about to climb down the stairs of his porch, a deep voice called out your name. “Wait, Y/N.”
Before turning around, you opened your eyes so wide someone would have thought they’d fall from your face. Had he just called you by your name. You weren’t even sure he knew your real name. When the shock was starting to fade, you turned around.
Taehyung was dressed in sweatpants and a cotton t-shirt, his hair looked messy and dirty, and he had bags under his eyes. Too much party?
“What?” you snapped, sounding harsher than you thought you’d sound.
He seemed to doubt before opening his mouth. “Er… I need your help with something.”
You rolled your eyes. Was he being serious? After all… He was asking for your help?
“Go fuck yourself, Asshole” was what you wanted to say. But when you saw the need in his eyes you sighed and crossed your arms over your chest. “Spit,” was what you answered instead.
“I… Can you come in, please?” he said, doubting a little. Why was he doubting so much around you.
“What? Why?” you said, looking at your car behind you. It was already dark outside and your parents would be waiting for you to have dinner together.
“I’ll explain you inside,” he repeated, nearly pleaded. What?
“Is this some sort of prank or devilish plan? Because I’m hungry and I want to go home,” you were sounding so sure of yourself and you felt like you were - for once - in control.
“I swear it Y/N, I just need your help,” and that was all you needed to hear to nod and step into the Asshole’s enormous house. Just the way your name rolled off his tongue was enough to make you change your mind and your mood completely. But just in case, you didn’t let your guard down.
As Taehyung closed the front door behind your back, you took a moment to contemplate everything around you. The hall was neatly decorated… Almost too neatly. White walls contrasting with dark wood on the floor and the rest of the furniture. Everything that hanged from the wall was modern art, abstract and pale. It was so plain, dull, boring… It was nothing like Taehyung, the red haired boy notorious for his pranks, his jokes and for being an asshole.
“Follow me,” he commanded, climbing up the stairs. The huge stairs, indeed. Oh my God, he must have thought my house was a fucking hut compared to this.
There were plenty of white lights that guided you through the enormous corridor.
“Where are you leading me? Are you going to kidnap me or something?” you said, looking at the naked walls.
“Why would I want to kidnap you?” he laughed, breaking the tense atmosphere. “You’d give me more headaches than you already do.”
“Well, I wouldn’t give you any if-” you began saying, but you shut your mouth as Taehyung stopped in front of a white door, as neat and cold as the rest of the furniture.
“How much do you know about flu?” he asked, seriousness on his voice.
You frowned, confused. “What? Errr… I know the basics. Why?” you asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
Instead of answering you, the boy just opened the door, revealing a big room that contrasted with the rest of the house.
It was full of colours and life. The walls painted a soft green, covered in stickers of huge trees, making the room look like a small forest. The ceiling was covered in stickers too, those small dinosaurs that shined in the dark.
When a soft cough was heard your eyes fell into the little boy that was laying on a kid-sized bed.
You looked at Taehyung, not knowing what to say. Who was that kid?
“Er… This is my little brother, Seung,” Taehyung said, approaching the kid and motioning you to follow him towards the kid’s bed.
What? Taehyung had a brother? He told everyone he was an only child, and you always thought so. But when you looked at the boy, sitting on the edge of the kid’s bed, his hand over Seung’s forehead and his black eyes covered in concern, you saw it all.
“Hi Seung, I’m Y/N. Nice to meet you,” you smiled at the boy, who inspected you with those big black eyes that reminded you so much of Taehyung. His hair was pitch black, his bangs covered in sweat, his little round face red.
“You’re one of Tae’s friends?” he said with a sweet voice. Oh my God, he’s so sweet and so little. He almost reminded you of Jungkook when you met him.
“Oh, no,” you both, Taehyung and you, said at the same time. Your eyes found Taehyung’s and you saw another different boy in front of you. He wasn’t the red haired boy anymore, nor was he the Asshole or Kim fucking Taehyung, the notorious pranker and player. He was just Taehyung. He even seemed older as he frowned.
“No,” you said again, smiling widely remembering how the little boy had called Taehyung “Tae”. Such a short and sweet word. Tae. Tae. “We’re just classmates.”
“Like Olivia and I?” the boy said, looking at his older brother.
“Yeah, buddy,” Taehyung said, tearing his gaze away from you and looking into his brother’s eyes.
“Woah, cool,” he said, smiling a bit.
“He has been like this since Saturday and I don’t know what to do,” Taehyung said when his brother started scratching his arms like crazy while coughing.
“Have you brought him to the doctor?” you asked, leaning to touch the kid’s forehead, that was burning hot. “He has fever.”
“I know, I’ve given him some antibiotics, but he hasn’t gotten better,” Taehyung sighed.
“And the doctor?” you repeated.
“I haven’t brought him. My parents aren’t home, and I know they’re really busy. I don’t want to worry them,” he simply said.
“Well, fu-” you began to say, but as soon as you remembered you were in front of a kid and Taehyung snapped your head towards you to avoid you from saying the “f” word, you shut your mouth. “Well, funny,” you tried hiding your mistake. Judging by the way Seung was looking at you, he was oblivious. “Funny because you should bring him to the doctor. No matter if your parents get worried or not. Your brother needs a doctor.”
Taehyung sighed. “But can’t you do anything?”
“No, I’m not a doctor. I think your brother has chicken pox, but I’m not sure, he could have an allergic reaction or whatever,” you said, watching little Seung scratch his arms again.
“Chicken pox?!” Taehyung panicked.
“Yeah, chicken pox. Have you never had it?” you asked, curious about the obliviousness of the red haired boy.
“I guess, but I was smaller than Seung so I don’t remember having it,” he said. “So… The only solution is to bring him to the doctor?”
“Yeah, he’ll know what to do,” you said. Seung was looking at you with curiosity in his eyes. He was dying to ask you more questions about yourself and you wondered if Taheyung had been like him at his age. With huge black eyes, curious about the entire world. Somehow you knew little Taehyung had never had the childhood little Seung had.
“Okay, thanks. I didn’t want to bring him to the doctor, but if I don’t have any option…” the red haired boy said, looking at his brother.
You nodded. “You’re welcome,” you politely said as you walked towards the door. “By, Seung, get well soon,” you began saying.
“Bye, Tae’s classmate,” the kid said.
Taehyung interrupted you, standing up from the bed. “Wait…” he scratched the back of his neck. “Can you accompany us to the doctor. I don’t like hospitals and Seung’s too much for me to handle on my own.”
“Tae!” the kid protested, making you smile.
You knew from the moment your eyes found the little kid’s ones what you’d say. “Okay, but I’ll do it because Seung looks like a cool buddy. Don’t you?”
“I’m cool, Tae’s not,” the boy protested. “He has made me eat gross things,” he pouted.
You looked at Taehyung, approaching Seung. “It was the antibiotics you had to take, buddy. Not my fault.”
You hide your smile, biting your cheekbones from the inside. “Hey, Seung,” you crouched next to the kid’s bed. “How about we go to see the doctor so he helps you get better?”
“NO!” the boy screamed. “The doctor no!”
“See, that’s the second reason why I haven’t brought him to the doctor,” Taehyung said.
“Hey, hey buddy,” you said.
“I’m not your buddy. I’m not buddy of girls,” he shrugged his nose. Well, he definitely is Taehyung’s brother.
You laughed a bit. “Okay, ‘not buddy of girls’, how about we play a game?” you quickly thought. The kid’s eyes light up like the dinosaurs stickers on the ceiling.
“Yes! What game!?” he clapped his small hands.
Taehyung was observing everything from behind you, hoping you’d be able to deal with his stubbornness. “We have to go somewhere, but neither of us know where. I have a friend named Kiwi that will tell us.”
“Kiwi? What an ugly name. Mine’s better,” he said, as the Kim he was. “And how will he tell us?”
“He only speaks to me, so I’ll only know,” you whispered. “And when we arrive to the place my friend tells us, a princess will receive us. She will lead us towards the wizard’s tower and he’ll give us a potion so you get better.”
“Cool!” he screamed, kicking off his sheets. “Tae, Tae! Are you coming with us too? Maybe the Wizard can give you something too.”
“I don’t need a potion,” Taehyung rolled his eyes. You kicked his shin, making him kill you with his gaze and take a couple of steps away from you.
“Yeah, you need one for that ugly hair that you have,” the little kid said, making you laugh out loud.
“Hey!” Taehyung protested. “I’m your older brother, your role model. Show some respect.”
Seung stood up from bed and started looking for something in his wardrobe. Until he suddenly stopped and turned around so his eyes would meet yours.
“What?” you asked, not knowing what was going on.
“I’m gonna change. You can’t look. You’re a girl. Ew!” he said.
You held back your laugh and nodded, stepping out of the kid’s room. “I’ll be waiting outside,” you said.
Taehyung nodded, but when he looked at you before closing the white door, you could see the grateful look he threw towards you. You just smiled a bit.
You opted for not nosing around. You wouldn’t want Taehyung nosing around your house - which he already had done - so you wouldn’t nose around his.
“We’re ready to go see the Wizard!” Seung said, running out of his room dressed in a grey jumper and trousers. “C'mon!”
“Wait, buddy, don’t run,” Taehyung said, running after his brother. You followed them.
“Didn’t he have another thing more comfortable than that?” you asked softly as Taehyung drove you to the hospital.
The kid was so excited, looking through the window, thinking about all the things he would say to the Wizard, that he wasn’t hearing anything from your conversation. “Tell my mother, she’s who buys him clothes.”
“Well, doesn’t he has a trackie or something like that?” you asked, remembering that, when you were little you only wore trackies and comfy dresses.
“Nope, mom doesn’t like tracksuits,” he said, his eyes fixed on the road. You had texted your parents letting them know that you’d arrive home late and that they didn’t have to wait for you.
When you arrived to the hospital, the doctor went along with the Wizard’s story and Seung let him do whatever he wanted with him. He had the chicken pox, it was obvious. The doctor scolded Taehyung for not bringing his brother earlier, and the red haired boy complained about it on your way to the car. He stopped in a pharmacy to buy the antibiotics the doctor had prescribed to Seung.
“It was fun,” the boy said, happy with the lollipop the doctor had given him, when you both were alone in the car.
“Going to visit the Wizard?” you said, turning around in the passenger’s seat.
“No and yes. It was fun, but it was fun meeting you too. You’re cool,” the kid said, looking at you with his big curious eyes.
“Oh, thanks. I think you’re cool too,” you smiled.
“Maybe Taehyung and you can become friends instead of classmates,” the kid said, fighting with the wrapper of his lollipop. You stayed quiet. “Taehyung never brings his girl friends home, I think he hates girls as much as I do.”
“Why do you say so? You hate girls?” you laughed, thinking the boy was too cute. “Let me open the lollipop for you.”
You opened it as the little kid kept talking. “They’re gross. They always want to play moms and dads and are always bossing around.”
You handed him his lollipop open. “I’m sure there has to be a girl you like. What was her name… Olivia?”
“What?!” the kid exclaimed. Just then, Taehyung stepped into the car, throwing the bag into the backseat.
“What’s going on here? Why is my buddy shouting? What have you done to him?” Taehyung teased you, smiling as he started the car.
“She said that I like Olivia!” he shouted. “And that’s not true! She’s… She’s always wearing that ugly pink teddy bear around!”
You couldn’t help but laugh. “Okay, sorry, maybe you’re just classmates, but she seems like a nice girl.”
“Well, she isn’t,” little Seung said with a frown in his little round face.
“Now he’s mad at you,” Taehyung whispered to you, looking at his brother through the rear-view.
“I wonder where he got that temperament from,” you said, rolling your eyes. “Sorry Seung, would you forgive me for saying that you like Olivia?”
The kid looked at you and then at his lollipop.
“Okay, but just because you opened my lollipop for me,” he said.
The rest of the way home was spent in silence. You kept looking through the window, asking yourself how had you ended up there, in Taehyung’s car, accompanying him and his brother to the hospital. But you felt comfortable there, hearing Seung’s little snores as he was fast asleep and Taehyung’s hums amongst the soft music that filled the car.
“Thank you for helping me, Wallflower,” Taehyung said as he carried his little brother in his arms.
You were about to step into the driver’s seat of your mom’s car when you heard the word Wallflower again. “You’re welcome, Asshole,” when you said that, you shut the car’s door and started it. You thought you had seen a subtle smile on Taehyung’s lips before speeding off the street.
You asked Taehyung about his brother a couple of times, and even though the boy wasn’t very explicit with his short messages, he told you Seung was getting better.
A week went by since you accompanied him and Taehyung to the doctor, and your “relationship” with Taehyung had changed a bit. That meant that he still ignored you at school but at least didn’t take part in the rest of the boy’s pranks that week. At the drama club he was the opposite as he was at school. He was always by your side, trying to make conversation with you and teasing you non-stop. You knew he didn’t want anyone at school to know that you didn’t disgust him as much as he pretended at school. You didn’t like that because you felt somehow used, that’s why you always made sure you let him know how he still disgusted you.
And that’s why you felt so surprised that first Friday of October when he approached you after finishing that day’s rehearsal.
“Can I talk to you for a moment?” he asked you, motioning for you to follow him. You frowned, but curiosity got the worst of you and you finally nodded.
“What do you want?” you said.
“Why do you always ask me that question?” he said in an amused tone.
“Because you always want something,” you said, arching a brow.
Taehyung stayed impassible for a moment, but then ended up smiling. “Guess you’re right,” he laughed. “The thing is that tomorrow there’s a dinosaurs exhibition at the museum and my brother wanted to go.”
“And you already have plans and need me to bring him to the exhibition?” you said, it wouldn’t surprise you that he’d ask you for such a favour after all.
“No, no,” he said, surprising you. “I’m going with Seung, I promised him that I would go a long time ago…”
You frowned again, nodding towards Hobi when he called out your name. “So… What’s what you want?”
“I was wondering if maybe you’d like to…” Taehyung seemed uncomfortable and scratched the back of his neck absentmindedly. “If you’d like to go with us. I mean, you can bring Jungkook if you want or just go with us on your own. I asked because my brother has been asking me non-stop about you and saying how fun you were and… He even told my parents about you, so…”
Your mouth was hanging open. “Are you, Kim fucking Taehyung The Asshole, asking me out?”
“What?!” he nearly shouted. “No, of course I’m not. This is just for my brother, I’m not one to bring my dates to a museum to see a dinosaur’s exhibition.”
“Yeah sure, and I’m not one to accept asshole’s propositions,” you said.
“This is not a proposition, Wallflower. I’m just saying that my brother would have fun and I owe him one, so…”
You thought about it for a moment. Jungkook loved dinosaurs and it would make him incredibly happy to go there and meet Seung. You were sure they would get along really well. But that meant that you’d have to put up with Taehyung all day.
You sighed. “Okay, but I’ll bring Kookster with me.”
“Kookster?” Taehyung said, arching a brow.
You shook your head, suppressing your smile. “We’ll meet at the museum at eleven. Don’t be late or I won’t wait for you.”
“Okay, but this isn’t a date,” Taehyung warned you.
“If it was a date, I wouldn’t have said yes,” you said, turning around and walking away from Taehyung.
“What’s going on between you and The Asshole?” Hobi asked you. You looked behind your back and you found Taehyung walking towards his car, his eyes fixed on his phone.
“Nothing,” you shrugged.
