Is Anek harbouring a saviour complex? Ayushmann Khurrana says ‘This is a film about the Northeast, and the protagonists are of the Northeast’
Anubhav Sinha and Ayuhsmann Khurrana fielded questions about harbouring a saviour complex when they collaborated on the 2019 film, Article 15. Then, they were criticised for making an upper-caste policeman fight for the rights of Dalits. Now, in their latest project, Anek, which revolves around the plight of the people of Northeast India, Ayushmann is an agent, seemingly from the northern region…

Genre: adult or NA science fiction // dystopian space opera
Status: 3rd draft
Features: novel length, single POV, 1st person - present tense, tech that’s indistinguishable from nature, ancient civilizations, space religions, characters with powers, mystery & adventure
Summary: It’s not easy leading a double life. As far as anyone knows, Quin is training for a prestigious position as a military officer.
In reality, she’s an apprentice Troika: an agent of the Collective, the Gallanthian empire’s mysterious rulers. She was conscripted as a child and implanted with a rare armor seed. She can now shapeshift and is practically invincible. Her mentor, Maddox, is training her to become one of the empire’s agents, like him.
Then, Quin receives crushing news that her mom has been kidnapped and taken from her homeworld. In spite of orders to stay put, she and Maddox team up with his estranged friend and go after her anyway. They flee Gallanthius in the decaying ruins of a stolen starship, chased by their former colleagues and tormented by a past that refuses to die quietly.
The cast:
[Quin:] When she’s not training, Quin carries on a lonely but contented semblance of a normal life in Gallanthius. Surfing and being near the ocean give her a connection to home. Independent yet compassionate, Quin is not always confident that she was meant for this role, but she always tries her best.
[Maddox:] After working for more than a century as a spy, he’s got a few dark secrets of his own. His determination to help Quin find her mother takes her somewhat by surprise. He reveals that he once had a daughter of his own, although it’s supposed to be impossible for Troika. How he programmed the city to generate her is one of the most sought-after secrets in the empire. He’s had to walk a fine line to remain in his handlers’ favor.
[Ash:] Maddox introduces him as simply his friend, but it’s clear they have a past. Maddox’s daughter was his idea. He also donated a cross-section of genes for her creation. The Collective tortured him for information regarding her and erased thirty years of his memories. He insists on joining Quin and Maddox when they leave Gallanthius, disregarding Maddox’s doubts.
[Keitu:] Maddox and Ash’s daughter, who died under mysterious circumstances before Quin’s conscription. Ash remains hopeful that she could still be alive.
[Lita:] a would-be revolutionary reduced to mercenary work. Surprisingly loyal despite working for a power hungry maniac.
[Aneke:] Maddox and Ash’s 900-year-old seemingly retired mentor. She holds great influence with the Collective, and perhaps more over the fate of her former apprentices than they care to admit.
[Nadira:] She once trained alongside Maddox under Aneke. These days, she’s one of the Collective’s top hackers. When Quin, Maddox, and Ash escape Gallanthius, the Collective sends Nadira to track them. But she also has her own agenda…

Malang Full Movie Download Tamilrockers, 123mkv 480p HD | Watch Online
Box Office: Even though Love Aaj Kal released last week and now two new releases, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Bhoot – The Haunted Ship, are running in theaters together, holdover releases Malang and Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior are managing to find audiences for themselves. Of course the numbers are on the lower side but still the fact that they have certain count of screens and shows allocated to them and the footfalls at least to some extent are still there is good enough news for them. Malang Full Movie Download 480p HD Tamilrockers, 123mkv Filmywap, Watch Online, Pagalworld, mp4movies, movierulz, khatrimaza, utorrent with torrent magnet, filmyzilla download.

Malang brought in 1 crore* more on Saturday and in the process has crossed the 55 crores mark. Currently standing at 55.30 crores*, the film would come closer to 56.50 crores mark before the third weekend is through. Post that it would be all about how much closer to the 60 crores milestone does it manage to come in its lifetime. An average affair.
–> Malang Full Movie Download <– 123MKV
On the other hand Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has its own great journey continuing with every passing day. On Saturday, it yet again collected well with 0.80 crores* been added to its total. While it has already achieved the 275 crores milestone, it’s now the journey towards the 280 crores mark that is being looked at with keen interest. The film has so far collected 275.80 crores and with some push, it could well manage to touch 277 crores before the close of weekend.
Filmmaker Mohit Suri is basking in the success of his latest release, Malang, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Kunal Kemmu and Anil Kapoor. The film, which has earned more than Rs 50 crore (the third Bollywood film of 2020 to do so), is still going strong at the box office.Even as Malang continues its great run at the box office, Suri has already moved on to his next project, Ek Villain 2. While the original 2014 hit starred Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles, the sequel will feature Aditya Roy Kapur and John Abraham.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Suri opened up about the response to Malang, Ek Villain 2 and the much-awaited Aashiqui 3. Excerpts:
Q. With your last two films - Half Girlfriend and Humari Adhuri Kahaani - not doing too well at the box office, has the success of Malang been reassuring?
A. The major change I made is that I essentially went back to writing. That’s why I took a break for around a year and a half. Following Malang, I wrote Ek Villain 2. I am also working on something for Vishesh Films and for Rohit Shetty also. I felt that the last two subjects, even though I had worked on the screenplay and the script, were not essentially my stories.
It was the most obvious choice to make Ek Villain 2 or make a love story with Aditya and ride on the success of Aashiqui 2. But I decided to not play defensive. I wanted to do something unconventional and take Aditya for an action film, because I felt that he had the aptitude for it. I am working with Disha for the first time. It’s a film I did not do with Shraddha after very long, even though I have worked with her so much. I’m making a film with Kunal after 15 years. I worked with him in Kalyug and although he is now known only for comedies like Go Goa Gone and Golmaal, he has an intense and insane role in Malang. Someone like Anil Kapoor came in the end and added a certain amount of energy and authority to the film; he is also someone I have never worked with before. Even for Luv (Ranjan, producer of Malang), this was a very different kind of film - he usually makes rom-coms or romances.
Everything was unconventional about it, and then the kind of response that we got is definitely very encouraging. I got responses from people who have probably never watched my films before. In the kind of limitations we had, I think whenever you are confined, your creativity goes to break the barrier. It’s an adult film, it’s not held back, doesn’t fall into your conventional endings where the hero is beating up everybody. So, it’s a new animal which has been appreciated.
Q. Are there any plans to make a sequel?
A. Did you recognise whose voice was there in the last scene? There was an interesting scene in the end, we will come out with the twist of that later. It’s a little too early to talk about it now.
Q. Ek Villain 2 has an all-new cast - Aditya Roy Kapur and John Abraham. Is it a standalone sequel or will it take off from the events of Ek Villain?
A. It has references of the previous film but what Ekta (Kapoor, producer) and I tried to do is build a couple of badass villains who can play heroes. We wanted to create antiheroes or dark superheroes in a realistic space. I loved all the guys I worked with - Riteish, Sid and everyone - but there are references of their characters in this, so I couldn’t cast the same people. But it’s a standalone film by itself and we are looking to make other standalone films like this, almost like a dark superhero universe.
Q. Have you cast your leading ladies for Ek Villain 2 yet?
A. The boys are locked, but we are looking to cast the girls. In my films, the girls don’t come and dance around trees or feature in songs. They are really interesting roles, so I have to be able to cast the girls right.
Q. There has been talk that Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt will star in Aashiqui 3. What’s the update on the film?
A. I have been working on the script of that. With Aashiqui 3, I have to get the script and the music right before I start work on it. Sid is a friend and we do hang out, but no one has been confirmed for the film till now.

Q. A few years ago, you were writing a film for Karan Johar. What’s happening on that front?
A. I write films and pitch them to people, based on what they like and don’t like. Some people make it and some don’t. It’s not like every film I write, I make immediately. Sometimes, I come back to it. I had written Malang but I was not getting the right cast and timing to make it. My job as a filmmaker is to keep writing and making films. I don’t stop that process. When Karan approves the script that I have written, I will make the film with him.

Translation: - Speech no. 767-789: - Tying the hands and feet ofGod Kabir, he was put inside a ground where severe punishmentwas given to heinous criminals. That ground was similar to a present-time stadium. The King and the office-bearers used to sit on a stage.
The spectators used to surround the arena. An elephant was trainedto kill people. It was made to develop a liking for alcohol and blood.
It was called a blood-thirsty elephant. King Sikander and other ministers were sitting. The people were standing all around it. Whenthe elephant rider (a mahout who overcomes an elephant and ridesit) brought the blood-thirsty elephant towards Kabir Ji to kill him,
Supreme God Kabir showed an image of a lion which was only visible to the elephant. The elephant was drunk. On seeing the lion, itfearfully ran back. The elephant rider hit the elephant with spears,
but the elephant did not go towards Kabir Ji. God Kabir showed alion standing there to the elephant rider too. The elephant rider alsofell off the elephant out of fear. The elephant ran away. God Kabir'sbondage broke and He stood up. He stretched his arms on standingup, and yawned. He grew massively tall. His head was touching thesky. Light of infinite suns was emitting from His body. This was onlyvisible to King Sikander. The King fearfully stood up, came down to
the ground, and said, "Forgive me. I have committed a grave mistake. I have had a sight of God." The King said to the public, "Thisis Allahu Akbar. He has come to Earth in Kabir Form. Get yourself
salvaged by touching His feet." But the unfortunate Qajis, Mullahsand Pandits said, "Kabir has scared the elephant away by casting a
spell on it. We are going." On saying this, all those sinful souls wentaway. God reduced His body to normal size and disappeared the
lion. He went to His hut.

Anubhav Sinha casts Bhumi Pednekar as the leading lady opposite Rajkummar Rao in his upcoming social drama Bheed
The women in Anubhav Sinha’s world are unforgettable. They are the epitome of strength, grit and most importantly, women with a voice that can’t be shushed. Be it Taapsee Pannu in Mulk, Sayani Gupta in Article 15, or the sturdy ensemble of actresses who made Thappad what it is, Sinha’s universe has well-fleshed out, well-rounded female characters who are out there to make a difference. And it’s thus no surprise that for his upcoming socio-political drama, he casted Bhumi Pednekar. The film, which marks Sinha’s reunion with Bhushan Kumar after the monumental success of Thappad, was announced last week and has Rajkummar Rao in the lead. Rao and Pednekar will also be seen in the much-awaited Badhaai Do next year, for which the duo has already finished shooting.
Sinha tells us, “Bhumi was the perfect choice for a film of this nature. She is an assured actress and a woman with a mind of her own. That’s the quality this character needs to have. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast. These are performers who not only shine every time they are on screen; they elevate the written word to create magic on screen. I am blessed to have the team I am working with. I couldn’t have asked for a better collaborator than Bhushan Kumar who is immensely supportive at every step along the way. He is the kind of visionary who believes in the diversity of cinema and choose to tell stories that are gutsy and off the beaten path.”
Sinha’s brand of conscientious cinema has remoulded the face of Hindi cinema in recent years. In the past week alone, the filmmaker has announced Bheed and the release date of his next Anek. With his stable Benaras Mediaworks buzzing, Sinha’s focus will be on ensuring his next project carries forward the legacy of creating the thinking man’s cinema. Together with T-series, the duo is creating waves in the industry by putting their weight behind stories that resonate at a deeper level with the common man.
Bhushan Kumar says, “Anubhav Sinha’s process of working is so effortless that I couldn’t have asked for a better partner at work. Bheed is another one of those projects I am super proud of. It’s a hard-hitting story and he has brought onboard exemplary actors. Bhumi is a fantastic performer and there couldn’t have been a better choice for the role.”
Much like Thappad, Mulk and Article 15, Sinha brings to the fore an everyday subject that needs a dialogue with Bheed. The socio-political drama will be shot across Lucknow, where Sinha recently conducted an elaborate recce. The film is expected to go on floors in November as the unit continues its extensive pre-production for the next few weeks.
Bhumi ecstatically tells us, “Being part of an Anubhav Sinha film is a matter of great honour and privilege. He shares my value system in believing that movies have the power to shift mindsets. As artists, the responsibility of telling such stories lies with us. Same goes for Bhushan Kumar who allows his writers, directors and actors to be gutsy, giving them the confidence like being the inspired producer he is. This is a crackling subject and I can’t wait to get on to the journey of this film.”
Bheed is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks.

Batwoman: Ryan Wilder Debuts Next Week- Just Not Javicia Leslie's
Posted on October 22, 2020 | by Ray Flook | Comments
Fans of The CW's Batwoman aren't going to have to wait until January 2021 (or later) to get their first look at Ryan Wilder. Nope, they're going to get their first full look next week- kinda. While it's not quite Javicia Leslie's Ryan Wilder, it will be Wilder's first appearance on the comic book side of the DC Universe when she appears in Batwoman #50 (unfortunately, the comic book series' final issue). Written by Cecil Castellucci with art by Emanuela Lupacchino and Aneke, the issue introduces Wilder as someone who used to "hole up" in the library where Barbara Gordon used to work- even taking Gordon's coding class. Now, Wilder is homeless and living out of her van- and doesn't appear to be the biggest fan of Barbara's boss Congresswoman Luciana Alejo or their efforts to help those in need.
A first look at Javicia Leslie as Batwoman (Image: The CW)
How much can fans take from the issue and apply it to Leslie's live-action version? Tough to say- here's a look at the character description that was released when the character and Leslie's casting were first announced:
With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan Wilder spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical all-American hero.

Shivani Ghai (Dominion, The Catch), Leah Gibson (Jessica Jones), Nathan Owens (Devious Maids), and Alex Morf (Gotham) are set to join Leslie this season. Batwoman executive producers include Greg Berlanti, Caroline Dries, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schecter. Filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, the series is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Last month, Leslie discussed what she was doing during her pre-season time to prepare for the role. "I've just been taking this little bit of time we have left, exercising, getting back in shape, getting my adrenaline and my momentum back up, enjoying time with family and friends while I can before work starts," she says. "It's been a good season, a season of rebuilding and reconnecting with  myself." Leslie plans on using that good vibe to tackle a role that she has the opportunity to truly make her own- and could possibly call home for some time to come."There's not many actors that get this opportunity to play in a world that you can continue to develop and expand on for a decade," Leslie explains. "This is a great beginning to what I'm sure will be a very long journey."

Transcript Shield of Tomorrow S02 Ep03: Tristan and K'ven decide their future
[SPOILERS for Shield of Tomorrow S02.E02 "Time Waits for No One - Part 1" & S02.E03 "Time Waits for No One - Part 2"]
This was such an incredibly beautiful scene I had to transcribe it. On a day that was garbage for me, this particularly filled me with life (genuinely reduced a lot of physical pain and miraculously gave me energy). I cracked two jokes on Twitter, that are honestly undergirded with serious respect:
Network TV: "Bury your gays." Geek & Sundry: "Marry your gays."
Star-crossed lovers: Strait plot: Romeo & Juliet - everyone dies. Gay plot: Tristan & K'ven - everyone lives.
This plot was beautiful, but it also reinforced something that deserves attention: Geek & Sundry has created a space where people can tell stories like this, and they are more than respected: They are adored by the cast, crew, and fans. They are normalized: many forms and examples, allowed to be messy, allowed to be transcendently perfect. The very idea that the love of two gay men could stand as a beacon of hope to reunite two fractured peoples is quite frankly not something teenage me seriously thought she'd ever see. That was something I was bitter about long before I realized I was queer. What a time to be alive.
Many of the plots on G&S's shows are risky, and they do put queer characters in danger, some even fatally. But always because the queer character was selflessly putting themselves in danger. Hurt or killed despite being queer, not because they are queer. It's a space where I don't have to worry about the gross "Bury your gays" trope. Where the happy endings always vastly exceeding the tragic. The harm actually serves to humanize queer characters rather than dehumanize them in this context because it shows they are neither excessively targeted nor placed on a pedestal; they are merely real and equal. That is profoundly special in media today, and it can ONLY read that way if that equality is well established and reinforced. That's the media I've always wanted.
I've broken this transcript into two versions: text only and with screenshots. It's easier to read and quote straight text. But the acting was so wonderfully expressive that I didn't want to lose that for people who can't view the broadcast, and I wanted to highlight some of the entirely-too-adorable frames of all the cast. The one thing the screenshots don’t necessarily capture well is sometimes the rest of the cast were listening so attentively they look zoned out in the stills because you can’t see the subtle nods and other indicators.
On Project Alpha. This right here is exactly why Alpha is worth my $5 a month. Easily more life-sustaining than one meal a month or two bottles of kombucha. You don't get the art you want if you don't support it.
Setup
The Khitomer Accords have been broken. The Federation is on the brink of war with the Dominion. The USS Sally Ride, a Federation science vessel, has been granted passage by the Klingon Empire to use the Corridor to reach. Deep into Klingon space, they receive a Klingon and Federation distress call from a colony on Klingon world. A small group of Federation engineers and scientists were deployed there in a mission of friendship, then forgotten. The Sally Ride responds and finds a colony collapsing from technical problems and a strange disease. They meet an old Klingon representative named Anek, and a desperate Federation Lt. Tristan Peylore, now the de facto commanding officer, trying to hold the place together. One problem is they've lost touch with the environmental control facility, and have been unable to reach it for about a month due to the harsh weather. Lt. Peylore is particularly worried because the man he loves, K'ven, is over there. Lots of batshit crazy stuff happens, but eventually K'ven is among those rescued. The colony is evacuated to the Sally Ride, before being transferred to the Klingons.

Times: Alpha, Time Waits for No One - Part 2 (unedited)
Start: 3:45:00
Eric (GM): "K'ven stops, too, and turns as he's also walking off. He stops in the corridor and looks back at you. He's looking a lot better. He's still… His body weight is still significantly decreased from the last time you had seen him, but he's up walking, moving around, he's energetic, he's obviously regenerating. Klingons have redundant organs all over their bodies; they are hardy folk. He probably lived through something that would have killed three other humans. He stops and looks back at you and says,"
K'ven, uncertainly: "What happens now?"
Lt. Peylore sighs and anxiously touches his temple.
Lt. Peylore, regretfully: "We knew this day would come. I…" He sighs. "I know that it would be asking a lot, and… it's not with a light heart that I ask this of you, but... I want you to stay.” Quietly impassioned: "I want you to come with me. I've shared in your world and in your culture. I wanna show you mine."
Eric: "He looks kind of over his shoulder at you, and you see standing a few feet away is Anek, who has stopped, and is just watching. And he turns back and says,"
K'ven, uncertainly: "I don't know. I want that, too. But, we're all so scattered now. With the colony failed, we won't have any other place to go. Most of our engineers died. I… I don't know what to do. I… I don't know if I should leave them, but I don't want to leave you."
The statement hangs in the air until Peylore suddenly snaps his attention back from his thoughts.
Lt. Peylore, strongly: "Listen—"
K'ven: "Why can't you stay?"
Lt. Peylore: He sighs. "I think that we can do good together. For the Federation, and for the Empire. We can show that this works. We need the environment to be able to do that. If we're taking care of another colony, we're just going back to our lives; it's busy work. They are fine. They're farmers. They're agriculturalists. They can take care of themselves wherever they're placed. But we are a symbol now. And we can make real change. And I love you."
Eric: "You see, that catches him, a little surprised."
K'ven: "I did not know." For the first time starting to sound more confident, "I should have known." Laughing, "I am stupid for not knowing that. I…"
Eric: "He looks back over his shoulder again, and Anek just goes,"
Anek slowly nods, and softly chuckles.
Eric: "And he turns and leans heavy against the cane and starts to walk away. K'ven looks back at you and says,"
K'ven: "Let's go before I change my mind."
Lt. Peylore, with many small, reassuring nods: "We're gonna be amazing."
K'ven: "I am frightened, but I am brave.” Haltingly: "I love you as well, Tristan."
Lt. Peylore: "I know."
K'ven: "Good. I'm so terrible at saying things like that. You'll have to help me."
Lt. Peylore: "I'm here every step of the way."
Xander (Peylore): "And I'll take his hand, bring him back."
Eric: "He takes yours."
Lt. Peylore: "Captain?"
Hector (Martinez): "Oh! I was here the whole time?"
Bonnie (Lark): "Were we all there?"
Capt. Martinez: "Oh I didn't see—" he sniffs and wipe a tear out of his eye, "all that. Um…" He grins sheepishly, then recomposes himself. "Yeah, Lieutenant?"
Lt. Peylore: "Permission to come aboard?"
Capt. Martinez: "Granted as fuck."
Eric: As those two move back down the corridor towards the entry way to the Sally Ride…"
Capt. Martinez: "Get out of here you scamps."
Xander (Peylore): "I start skipping."

The map lead to a ravine, just as Breev had promised; the ravine seemed to have a noticeable lack of doors, just as Breev had claimed. Eirn wasn't certain they were going to find anything here at all, even as she checked and double-checked her own copy of the map as they approached.
Quinn, though, had come prepared - didn't just have the map Breev had marked up on his datapad, but had the original parchment tucked inside of his armour, too. They rested in the shade of the ravine's towering rock walls as he re-examined it - Eirn watching the suns rise by the way the shadows crept ever closer to the walls, and Vette parked on a rock, poking at the sand with one of her blasters.
(All it would take, Eirn mused, watching her, is one stray shot, in the heat of battle. Two, at most. And then: Not that the Force wouldn't warn him they were coming, I suppose. And Baras's apprentices aren't usually the forgiving type.)
'Interesting,' Quinn murmured, half to himself - jogging Eirn out of her train of thought, and she wondered for a paranoid moment if he'd somehow picked up on it.
'My lord?' Eirn started - looking cautiously at him, trying to puzzle out what had gotten his attention - and not let on, at that, what she was hoping that it wasn't.
Quinn didn't reply, for a long moment; Eirn had almost given up on him as having chosen to ignore her when he finally spoke.
'Lieutenant,' he started, 'Take a look at this, and tell me what you see.'
Eirn didn't follow, but obeyed anyway - looked to the parchment Quinn was holding out, before looking back at the ravine they were in - the trail that led back towards Anek, and the long shadows cast by the rising suns. She pulled out her datapad, after a moment, too - pulled up the map that Breev had marked up, comparing it to both the parchment and reality in turn.
'It's not just- a map to a door,' she started, slowly - 'It's a- pathway. My lord.'
A very particular route, if she was interpreting it correctly - and while she still didn't see any door in the marked location, it still seemed at least a little more promising.
'Precisely. No wonder Ms. Breev couldn't find it,' Quinn added. 'The Sand People must protect this place for a reason.'
'The Jedi?' Eirn replied - the idea occurring to her in a worried moment. Stumbling onto hidden Jedi- well, they'd have the element of surprise, and she just hoped it would be enough.
'Perhaps,' Quinn just mused - his tone giving nothing away, and his expression hidden underneath his helmet. 'I suppose,' he added, 'We shall find out.'

Happy STS! :) What fears/phobias does your main cast have?
Ohhh good one!
Quin: losing everyone she cares about, getting captured and experimented on in a lab, making a newbie mistake when it really counts, getting manipulated (again) by agents loyal to the empire, never being able to live a normal life
Maddox: losing everyone he cares about, the past catching up with him, he won’t be strong enough to do the right thing, he’ll destroy Quin’s trust in him, he’ll fail Ash for the last time
Ash: nothing ever mattered, it’s all hopeless, caring was a mistake, they’ll kill us in the end anyway
Nadira: losing her only companion, that the answers to her questions don’t exist
Kedona: tbh after dying there isn’t much she’s afraid of now
Aneke: things getting way out of control and no amount of intervention will put it back the way it was
Thanks for asking - much appreciated :)

So here’s the snippet of the fic, finally. Sorry it took a while but I had to wait until I could get online with my comp since it won’t format properly on mobile.
Thrawn isn’t in this bit, it’s some of his cadets telling a story about him. But as usual with Thrawn, there was more going on than even those present knew. This is a follow-up to my previous Thrawn fic Two Steps Ahead
---------------- “Oh, and speaking of Commander Thrawn and art…” Sheplin straightened and looked at Rabor with a grin, which her friend met with a distrustfully raised eyebrow and quelling stare, “Did you tell them that story of when he came to your Prima Dance?”
Rabor had no need to reply, as the resulting “What?s” and “Oh?s” from their friends answered the question. She glared half-heartedly at Sheplin but knew she’d get no peace now until the rest of their group heard the tale. For principle’s sake she cast a final foreboding scowl at Sheplin before beginning the story. Sheplin answered the glare with a shameless smirk.
“Did you know he was coming to see it?” Jing demanded, folding one leg over the other and leaning forward with interest.
“No,” Rabor shook her head and then looked around the circle of her friends sitting on the grass in the small clearing. “I had no idea until one of the other dancers came back all excited and told us there were Imperial officers there - higher officers, not just the Lieutenant in charge of the local garrison, and that one of them was an alien. I asked what the alien one looked like, and sure enough it was Commander Thrawn. I’m glad,” she added, smiling, “because I made sure to add his name to the thanks at the end so everyone would know an Imperial officer helped us.”
“Why would he go all the way to Daralho to see you dance?” Jastrinas looked far less amused than the others.
“He didn’t go to see me, he went to see the Prima Dance. Him and some other officers,” Rabor gave him an impatient flick of a glare, and then returned her attention to the others. “But anyway, he came back to the staging area to congratulate us after the show and just out of habit, when I saw him coming toward me I stopped and saluted him.”
“Still in your dance outfit?” Jing dissolved into giggles.
“Yes. That must have been a sight: me in my skintight, multicolored ‘spirit of spring’ dance outfit with gossamer draped from my arms and back, standing at attention and saluting him.” She paused, chuckling in good-natured humor as her friends reacted with merriment to the mental image.
“What did he do?” Jastrinas leaned forward, his previous disapproval lightened with amusement.
“That’s the best part,” Rabor giggled. “He just lifted his eyebrows at me and said in that deadpan way of his,” she dropped the pitch of her voice in imitation of Thrawn’s deeper tones, “'No need, Cadet. You’re out of uniform.’”
“Oh stars,” Anek exclaimed, displaying a flash of white teeth as he laughed.
“That’s ultimate,” Sheplin cackled.
“It was too funny,” Rabor agreed. “He said it so dryly, even the other officers with him didn’t know how to react until he smiled and I started laughing.”
“So was that why you got red in the face every time he was around for a week after that?” Anek queried. “Because he saw you dance?”
“No, that was thanks to one of my relatives embarrassing me to death in front of him. But that’s a story for another time. I need to go study.” Despite her friends’ playful moans and grumbles of disappointment, Rabor rose to her feet and brushed off her uniform fastidiously before picking up her bag. “Talk to you later!”  She waved in response to their chorus of parting salutations and walked off.
