Metrocon 2019!
Hey yall sorry I haven't been as active, I was busy literally every single day of Metrocon and I finally got a breather. Anyway I wanna just summerize what I can remember because I don't wanna completely forget these wonderful memories. I wanna look back at em over and over again 💕
THURSDAY:
Thursday was the 5 year anniversary of my Gundam Wing cosplay group! I got to hang out with my Metrowing buds and we did a nice photoshoot with the pilots and we had so much fun! I miss them dearly cuz they live out of state but the time I had with them is one I always cherish.
Tumblr media
I pretty much spent the whole day with them and I decided that Thurs/Fri would be autograph day for us. By golly the VAs were all so super sweet. All of them loved the candy and the pictures I made for them and as I predicted I got really emotional and kinda cried in front of Luci Christian cuz she is one reason I wanted to VA. Her range is insanely versatile! I legit would call her the Meryl Streep of anime & she was SO kind to me ;///;! When I started crying she said "Don't ever apologize for being real. You're a very sweet person, & I believe in you, there is always room for everyone in this industry ❤️"
And man I just felt so happy at that. She makes me feel confident and I wanna keep trying my best. Same with Josh, Alexis, David & Kara! They were all super encouraging and OmG like ok I think I astral projected when Josh did Armin's or Yuri's voice when he was signing stuff. I teared up QwQ I love his energy and dedication!
I think one of my fave moments during the autographs was when I made the "I'm gonna Bertell you what I Bertold him" joke and David and Josh absolutely lost it xD! They were like OMG WE NEED THAT AS A TSHIRT FOR DAVID XD! Like "You just got BERTOLD" and then they proceeded to make jokes about how he roasted Armin in many ways xD it was hilarious 😂! But oof.
I spent most of the Thursday browsing the Dealer Room and this is was one of the first times I was able to find new Takanori Nishikawa CDs so I bought some that I don't have TTwTT I was so happy! We ended the day by doing a run through of our performances for Anime Idol with Trowa. And it went really well🎶Also, at the cosplay booth, the staff liked my sis' Clear Card Sakura so much they asked her to enter the cosplay hallway contest and I'm so proud of her cuz this her first cosplay ever ^u^- she looks so cute! And many people wanted her pic all weekend :D
FRIDAY:
As usual this is Anime Idol day and I was super busy prepping. I was a bit more confident now that I finally had performed in front of a test audience. But as usual I am always still nervous no matter how much I prepe. Luckily for me in the morning I was getting last minute autographs and as I was getting Darker Than Black signed by Luci, I commented on Anime Idol and she said break a leg! I had given her an Ochaco mug as a gift which made her SUPER happy 😊! I felt much more confident after that and I went to the Main Events hall happily soon after.
Anime Idol was really fun this year! There was some nervousness from the contestants but we all just got together and made some fun friendships! I'm so proud not only of Mama Trowa but also of the other contestants I mentored or was able to help feel less nervous. The winners did deserve it! It was a very good act! And as for myself, I advertised a bit and got some new people from the toku community to come watch the show! I even saw a Kamen Rider Geiz cosplayer who came to the show it was AWESOME! My bffs who were only there for Friday also came & a few Golden*Star members too I was just so happy and thankful! They really made my day! My bffs were dressed in Ghibli heroines and OMG they were lovely & we did a small Tik Tol together ^_^ it was fun!
Tumblr media
After the show my new Golden*Star member came up to me and I legit almost cried cuz they were SUPER adorable and kind and they had prepared a Cecil Ajima merch box for me saying thanks for allowing them to join and that they look up to me as a mentor and friend and I'm so happy I had waterproof eyeliner that day cuz oh boy that hit me in the feels 😭! I love! I got them back tho, for initiation I got down on one knee and gave em a flower bouquet, haichews & a golden star balloon as a way to welcome them to the Utapri cosplay group! So now we have a lovely new Tokiya 😊 yay!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SATURDAY:
Ok so despite loosing one prop, Saturday was really fun! I finally debuted Poppy Pipopapo and I basically used the entire day to find video game character cosplayers and we got to dance with them! I was shooting a music video for People Game for Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Abridged ^u^! Everyone whom I asked to dance with me was excited for it and it was a blast! I loved being able to spread so much fun and positivity as Poppy :) it was a dream cosplay come true! I can't wait to pit the vid together ^^🌸💕🎼🎵🎶! Later at night, I ran into my new friend who is gonna be Tokiya (they were dressed as Eiichi & their bud was Kira from HE★VENS!) we spent a good 2 hrs taling about all our future plans with Golden*Star and their other friend was so impressed with how friendly our Utapri group was that they wanted to join ;w; it was actually really sweet💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SUNDAY:
Was THE BIG DAY AT LAST. The very first time my Utapri cosplay group Golden*Star Cosplay would finally have our first meeting/photoshoot together as ST☆RISH & QUARTET NIGHT! And it went flawless like a dream! Guys, omg I hit a milliom dollar jackpot. I love this group so much 😭! Everyone was on time, we all worked together so well, the photoshoot went perfectly! And we livestreamed it! After the photos, we sang Reiji a Happy Birthday 🎁 cuz it was his character bday the day before & I bought cupcakes and fried chicken for everyone xD! Cuz that's what Shining Live said happened fffff. In the most complimentary way, I feel like this cast is so on point, we are all pretty much our characters xD! I thought managing an 11 member group would be too hard at first but we have all grown so close over this year & we all have so much love and respect for one another, we all just felt so natural hanging out, as of we had done this for years ;U; ! It was lovely!
We tried stalling saying goodbye cuz we didn't wanna leave ;///; but we had to. We are still planning to watch Maji Love Kingdom as a group when SentaiFilmworks gives the green light for theatrical releases. But for now we will work hard to make HolMat even better! I love them all and can't wait to keep working together to make more wonderful memories! See yall next con!

What Happened to Our Friends? ~Fluffy Friday
Tumblr media
(Liam, Drake, Amanda, Maxwell) *friendship x unrequited love*
A Choices: The Royal Romance Fan Fiction
A/N Before the events of The Other Friend and this particular storyline was suggested by one of my little guys.
*song that is lip synched Dream Come True some of the lyrics listed below.*
Tagging those who wanted extra fluff 😉@brightpinkpeppercorn @riseandshinelittleblossom-deact @zaffrenotes  @fullbeaumonty  @speedyoperarascalparty  @bobasheebaby  @tmarie82   @littleblossom-18 @cocomaxley  @ehkw1989  @hopefulmoonobject @leelee10898  @itsstillnotwhatyouthink   @littlecrookedheart @mrswalkerwritesagain @debramcg1106 @krsnlove @littleblossom357 @ritachacha @lodberg
"We have to go to a karaoke bar. We are literally in its birth place!" Maxwell argued while staring out at the bright lights of Tokyo. The city looked amazing against the dark night sky.
Drake and Liam turned hesitantly to the one who had the worst singing voice. Amanda knew what their look meant.
"Don't worry. I won't sing." She folded her arms and looked away from them.
"Then I'll go." Drake said. He let out a grunt when Amanda hit him with a pillow. He smiled as he threw his arm around her shoulders. "We still like you. You're the frog of our group. Nobody croaks a song like you."
Amanda couldn't stop her laugh from coming out. "Yeah, yeah. Keep talking and I start belting out show tunes."
In a sea of neon, they discovered a club that Maxwell declared was the one. When they walked into the lobby, they were surrounded by many in cosplay. Liam studied some and tried to figure out why it was so familiar. His eyes widened as it hit him.
"Amanda! Look it's --"
"Liam! It's a room filled with RWBY fans!"
Maxwell and Drake stared at them in confusion. "Guys...want to tell us what Ruby is?" Maxwell asked.
"First off, it isn't technically the word, 'ruby'. It is the four main characters initials forming their team name." Liam began to explain. "Even though the one character is actually named, Ruby."
"It's an American created anime. It is about--"
Drake held his hand up. "Hold on, let me check on something. Yep. I don't care."
Amanda and Liam looked around and saw a shop selling some RWBY costumes. They whispered excitedly and ran off.
"HEY!" Maxwell exclaimed. "What has gotten into them? Did I miss something when we walked in here?"
"You had to go out and pick this place." Drake said. His jaw dropped when he saw his once sane friends. Liam had on a black hoodie that suspiciously looked like it had a bunny's face on it but was covered by some type of armor over his upper chest. He also had some armor on his upper arms. Gloves and blue jeans completed the look...and was that a shield? He had a large sword and was swinging it alongside what was once Amanda.
She not only was wearing a costume that made him and Maxwell blush at seeing her in something more revealing than she normally wore, she had somehow turned her hair red and had it pulled up in a ponytail. Or else it was a wig. He couldn't tell from this distance. Her outfit looked like something straight out of Greek mythology.
Liam and Amanda stopped before them and posed with their weapons. Amanda had a sword that extended into a javelin in her hand that she held as if to throw while blocking with her shield . "What the---what are you?" Maxwell asked.
"I'm Jaune Arc." Liam announced. "She's Pyrrah Nikos."
"Hello again." She waved and mimicked Pyrrah's sweet voice and phrase perfectly. Liam's smile grew with pride as some nearby asked her to do it again while recording her. When she added the, "I'm sorry," Liam clutched his heart. "That line gets me every time." He said to Maxwell.
"You know what gets me? Is finding a twenty-four hour psychiatrist for you two." Drake dryly replied.
"How did you get your hair like that?" Maxwell stepped closer to her and stared at locks that were once dark brown, a color he had been very fond of.
"Spray on hair color." She faced Liam and handed Maxwell her weapons. "Speaking of hair, hold still..." She ran her fingers through Liam's until it was mussed completely.
"Thank you. I forgot to do that." He scrutinized her and straightened her sash, causing Drake and Maxwell to simply stare. This could not be happening. Where were their calm, retiring friends? Who were these people?
After Amanda and Liam were satisfied with how the other looked, they all walked in and were surrounded by multiples of particular characters. There was a table with pictures of scenes from RWBY and a sheet of paper. Amanda read it and immediately wrote her name down.
"What did you sign up for?" Liam asked.
"RWBY lip synch contest!" Liam groaned when he couldn't think of a song to lip sync dressed as Juane.
"Seriously! What has happened to you two?"
They shrugged at Drake. "You would understand if you watched it." Amanda answered patiently. Liam's pitying look at him and Maxwell freaked them out.
"How have we not known you two suffered with this affliction? Have you been having clandestine dates to watch this?" Maxwell's laugh died when they lowered their eyes.
"Wait, that's what you have been doing?! What did you use to trick us into not joining?" He asked.
Amanda chewed on her bottom lip while Liam rubbed the back of his neck. "You know that committee we asked if you wanted to be a part of that you both refused last year?"
"Are you talking about the one to make sure roadkill is removed in a specific--good lord we were stupid to believe that was an actual thing." Drake held his head at the revelation.
Maxwell's eyes widened. "You even made an acronym for it! You called it...RWBY!
"It was rather grim for a committee." Amanda winked at Liam, causing him to double over in laughter.
"What's so funny?" The two left in the dark demanded.
"You wouldn't understand it." Liam replied. Amanda took pity on them. "Grimm are the creatures that our characters, and many that you see here represented, fight."
"You have private jokes over this?" Maxwell thought something was very wrong with this. He wasn't sure what, but she shouldn't have private jokes with just Liam. That was supposed to be their thing.
They sat at a table and began to watch some Ruby's and Weiss' and a few Sun's try their hand getting the crowd into their performances. Many Yang's, two Blake's, and one Nora gave it their all.
Amanda sat with her leg shaking. She recalled why she never volunteered to do these things. She hated being the center of attention. Her costume had gone to her head and made her think she really was brave.
Noticing her jittery nervousness, Maxwell leaned forward and spoke in her ear, "Just pretend it is only us in the room."
Liam grinned at her. "Remember, your song is to me."
She nodded and stood when her name was called. She left her weapons and got on the stage. Her head was bowed in front of the microphone as she waited for her song to start. She couldn't help but think of the irony of lip synching this song in front of Maxwell.
"What do you mean her song is to you?" Drake asked.
"Her character is in love with mine. I, or rather my character doesn't know it and has a crush on someone else. That one," he pointed at a girl all in white. "Weiss is the one Juane likes, until season 3." His smile disappeared as he thought of that season. That ending still upset him.
"They kiss!" Maxwell had pulled up an image on his phone. He gritted his teeth as he looked up at Amanda. Why would they pick these two characters?
Tumblr media
When the first piano notes were played, her head came up and she began. She started on one end of the room, acting coy with some of the other Juane's.
When she reached their table, she had relaxed and was really playing it up. She actually appeared sincere as she mouthed the rest of the lyrics. She smiled at Liam and moved around him. He in turn did the mannerisms of Juane causing cheers from the crowd.
I've been spending time wondering why,
Nothing that I do can catch your eye.
Just can't capture your attention.
Maybe I'm too tall or not your type,
But I'm not giving up, I'll get it right.
Being close to you is my intention.
I see more in you than the rest of them do
And I'm not gonna let you fall.
I'll swallow my pride, time after time,
Cause you're worth it all.
Whenever I think of you,
How I wish you only knew,
That you might be my dream come true.
But what do I have to do to make you notice me?
A girl dressed as Weiss at a nearby table began to flirt with Maxwell. Amanda narrowed her eyes and thought the timing couldn't be more perfect. She walked over to stand directly in front of the man she secretly loved with her whole heart.
Oh, know that.
You and I we would be alright,
We could dance on the roof, we could light the night.
Gotta make you see me in that way.
Why don't you,
Forget about the little chick in white?
She don't care about you and she's so uptight.
Let me put a smile on your face.
She tilted his face up and ran her gloved hand along his jaw and into his hair as she leaned down to look directly in his eyes. He swallowed nervously and placed his hand over hers.
How I wish that you knew that I'm crazy for you.
And I'm waiting by your side.
I'll get you alone,
Make you my own,
It will be divine.
She walked away, smiling at Maxwell's stunned expression. She returned to the stage and continued to work the crowd into a frenzy as they began to clap along with the last few stanzas. She ended the song by meeting Maxwell's eyes with a heartbroken face as she pleaded the sad words, "notice me?"
Once the contest ended, Amanda was announced as the winner. As she went to the stage to collect her prize, the guys all stood cheering. She was given a gift basket filled with RWBY collectibles and shirts. She promised the crowd to share it with her Juane, causing the cosplayers to laugh and applaud.
"I feel like we are stuck in some alternate dimension." Drake whispered to Maxwell.
Suddenly a loud song began making them both jump. Liam whooped. "They're playing Shine!" He jumped up and grabbed Amanda as her face lit with recognition of the song. They joined the other cosplayers and began to do some choreographed dance.
"They have a dance!" Mawell knew this was the final straw. Drake was pulling it up on his phone. "Yep, and apparently it was a pretty big deal between their characters. Why am I looking this up?! This has to be some type of contagion. We will probably lose our minds soon just like them."
Maxwell frowned and watched them dance in line. They came back, cheeks red and an arm around each other. "Can you believe this night?" Amanda yelled over the music.
"Nope. I haven't been able to believe any part of it." Drake teased. "Are we ever going to do what we originally planned?"
"I booked a room for the karaoke." Liam motioned for them to follow him.
Amanda fell into step with Maxwell and slipped her arm through his. She gave into an impulse and kissed his cheek. She leaned her head against his shoulder as they walked. "Thank you for encouraging me earlier."
His anger evaporated when he looked down at her. "Why did you and Liam choose these two out of all the characters?"
A soft smile appeared on her face. "These are who we share the most characteristics with. Juane is placed as leader of his team but doubts his ability to be the right one and struggles throughout the series. He wants to protect all he loves and is relentless in trying to make himself worthy of their faith in him. He never sees what he really is."
Maxwell nodded. "That is definitely Liam. What about yours?" His curiosity peaked as she started to blush.
"Pyrrah is one who offers encouragement to everyone. She doesn't mind being in the background yet is willing to step up when it is the right thing to do. She sees the best in those around her and tries to point it out to them."
Maxwell grinned. "That's you. Anything else you identify with?"
"Well...she did suffer with an unrequited love for Juane. I definitely know what that feels like." Amanda preceded him into the room while he paused outside. Did she mean she had been in love with someone or was in love with someone and it wasn't reciprocated? Who was it? Liam was dressed as Juane...but she lip synched some lines to directly to him. He wondered if he would ever figure it out.

Belated Cosplay Melee Thoughts
Yesterday I watched the season finale of Cosplay Melee, which I have thoroughly enjoyed all the way through. After I watched the first episode I declared to my friends and family that it was my new favorite thing. I heard a lot of the cosplay community expressing similar excitement, “Finally a show that does justice to cosplay,” etc. I think the show is a real gift to cosplayers and non-cosplayers alike who get to see the incredible amount of work and creativity that goes into this hobby accurately represented on television. I even convinced my mom (who is not really involved with my cosplay at all but who has a definite reality television problem) to sit down and watch an episode with me, and she not only enjoyed it but I think she has more of an appreciation for the amount of time and money I throw at cosplay. Maybe. I have things I like and things I didn’t like about Cosplay Melee, and I think I’m gonna lead with the griping so I can end with the positive. Gonna try to keep things optimistic around here.
Gripes
The show is really slanted toward armor and prop making, and while that is a huge (and visually stunning) part of cosplay, it’s not the only part, and the show that sells itself as being a “cosplay competition” emphasizes it to the detriment of contestants whose specialty is sewing. The finale in particular saw a finalist (a professional seamstress) who created a Madoka Magica inspired magical-girl cosplay, and while the construction of her armor was critiqued thoroughly, there wasn’t a single comment (at least, not one that made it into the final cut) about how complex and well constructed her dress was. One contestant during the superhero-themed episode created a chest piece for her superhero out of spandex because that’s what she’s good at working with, and got eliminated in favor of the three armored pieces created by the other contestants. And if you’re a cosplayer whose main talent is makeup transformations, latex prosthetics, or wig styling, you’re basically out of luck altogether.
Tumblr media
I’m not saying she should have won, I just wanted someone to comment on how nice that skirt is.
Another hugely important part of cosplay is accuracy compared to the source material. Since every character created on Cosplay Melee is an original design, this element is absent entirely.
Finally, I found the structure of the competition to be a bit awkward. One person gets eliminated after round one, and then the other three get to continue to the final round. With only four competitors to start with, this gives one person a very short straw. More balance might be achieved by the addition of a middle round, where another person gets eliminated, and two continue to the final round. That way, the winner of round one can gain an advantage that helps them make into the final round, and then in the final round itself all bets are off.
Goods
Exploring a different genre with each episode meant the show represented several corners of the cosplay world and made it so that most cosplayers could probably identify with an episode or two in particular and say “That’s me! That’s my thing!”
And although it was very armor-focused, we got to see a ton of different armor-making materials and techniques. Some competitors used Worbla, others preferred foam, some were resin casting details. Some painted their armor while others covered it in fabric. We got to see people rig wings up lots of different ways, as well as incorporate LEDs and other electronics into their armor and props.
The competition was definitely difficult. To succeed on Cosplay Melee you have to get things right the first time, because there’s not enough time to start over if you make a serious mistake. There is no trial and error. I appreciated that a lot, because it gave those who knew what they were doing a real opportunity to shine over those with more limited skill sets. And the final products were stunning and dynamic, which makes for great television.
Each passing episode was more enjoyable to watch than the previous one, because they made definite improvements to both the way the competition worked and the way the show was presented. Giving cosplayers more specific instructions for what they needed to create would have been great for the first episode, but it’s a brand new show, and sometimes you have to see something in action to really work out all the kinks. I also loved the way they started giving the first round winner an advantage going into the second round. This made their victory meaningful but did not secure their win in round 2 so reliably that the suspense disappeared. And while the show never really gives any attention to wig styling or makeup (probably so as not to overlap with Syfy’s incumbent crazy makeup reality show, Face Off, which I understand) I also appreciated the clips we got in the later episodes of the cosplayers getting into their costume and makeup, which was totally skipped over in the first one.
Basically
Cosplay Melee is a great show for cosplay. Those portions of cosplay on which it is focused are covered thoroughly and portrayed accurately and in a celebratory and exciting way. Yvette Nicole Brown is a gift to this world and you can see how much fun she has hosting the show. Craftsmanship competitions at conventions are where you’re going to find thorough attention given to every different piece of cosplay (accuracy, makeup, wig styling, garment construction, armor and props, etc). Cosplay Melee is a game. To win, you have to play by its rules. That’s the nature of the beast. But I loved watching it and I can’t wait for season 2.

I made my annual trip to Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con (formerly Comikaze) this year on Sunday. The members of this blog have been attending this con in some capacity for several years; including once being vendors. While this con is smaller than Wondercon or San Diego Comic-con it now has Stan Lee’s name on it, and has been able to pull some pretty interesting guests over the years.
The con seemed pretty well organized this year.  There were plenty of staff directing attendees to the box office and the badge pick-up. We showed up at 11am, an hour after opening.  I don’t drive to get downtown anymore since parking has gotten expensive. We noticed that most of the lots close to the convention center were advertising thirty dollars. I’d recommend taking the metro if you have convenient access to it.
Entry was painless. Weapons check was happening before they even let you in the door for registration this year. They also stopped a girl in front of us that had a Harry Potter-style wizard’s wand and made her exit and go through weapons check before they would admit her (which may have been a bit over-kill). They were also performing bag checks as you entered. This, in addition to their change in costume policy disallowing any fake guns or things similar to guns, may have been too strict for some people. We were able to walk right in and get our badges and lanyards without waiting. If you didn’t buy badges during the pre-sale they were available at the box office. Like may conventions, the price during pre-sale is lower than what you will pay at the door.
The first floor of the south hall was home to large groups of cosplayers and photographers all day long. I think that this con has a ton of interesting and beautiful costumes.  It helps that it is usually the same weekend as Halloween. There was plenty of room to walk around and through if you wanted to get pictures or see the costumes up close.
We headed up to the exhibit hall first. The main stage is also located in the exhibit hall. This year they moved the stage from the center of the hall to one side which seemed to help with some of the congestion and noise issues they have had in the past. Unfortunately, the main stage has limited seating which means you have to stand to watch any panels unless you luck out and grab one of the 60 seats to the left or right of the main stage.
There was a large variety of vendors and artist at this year’s con. If you are a regular at some of the other So Cal conventions there are some notable absences including the T-shirt tower people, WeLoveFine, and most of the comic publishers. This con is definitely geared more towards pop culture and less toward comics even though there were comics vendors on the floor. Since we have worked this con as vendors, and because we regularly make purchases at this con, we have heard a lot of complaints of tons of people browsing and no one actually buying anything. I will mention that there were several “vendors” that were only there to sign you up for time shares (and most likely, sell your information). One of which was using the San Diego Comic-con logo to attract attendees. I recommend that attendees to this con take a second look at who they are giving their contact info to.
I, personally, use this con to buy gifts for the holidays because there are consistently good deals. I can’t compare the deals on Sunday to what was happening on Friday or Saturday but it appeared that prices may have been cut to liquidate stock since it was the last day of the con. I was impressed with the variety of merchandise available as well. It was the first con of the season where I was able to find multiple things that  I wanted for myself.
Since this con is on Halloween weekend most of the vendors keep candy at their booths so that kids that are attending can trick-or-treat. There are a lot less people dressed in bondage gear or being lead around on leashes then other cons that are host at the LA convention center (looking at you AX). The atmosphere at this con and the trick-or-treating seem to lend to a family-friendly atmosphere.
We decided to attend the Makeup National Championships. Entrants were given the theme of “undead glam” and they had to execute a makeup on a model that they brought with them. No prosthetic were allowed. The lack of actual chairs at the main stage let us get close to the makeup models but it was still annoying. Another setback of this being in the main hall for panels was that the crowd in the exhibit hall was playing loud music during parts of the judging of the contest. There were very few spectators compared to the numbers I saw attending some of the earlier panels of the day that had special guests, and it was obvious that the PA was exhausted (high energy but lots of foibles and forgetting to let the judges ask questions). The makeup was pretty impressive and the prizes for the winners seemed well worth their participation: a cash prize and MAC products along with MAC classes. The winner did a very subtle and detailed clown makeup. I’m sure that the judges could see a lot more than we could since the stage lighting washed the model out.
  #gallery-0-14 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-14 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
If you are coming to this con specifically for Stan Lee then you are definitely going to get what you paid for. There was a Stan Lee exhibit this year (there usually is), panels with the man himself, and the ability to purchase photo ops and autographs. There are also usually exclusives; such as this years’ Stan Lee Funko Pop.
  #gallery-0-15 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-15 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-15 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-15 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
This con is doable in a day if you aren’t going for specific guests or panels. The exhibit hall floor can be covered in a few hours and you will still have enough time to grab an autograph or see a few panels. They have started hosting more parties on Saturday nights, so if you are staying downtown or don’t have to drive this could also be a fun option. They have some Magic tournaments that run during the con and also a cosplay competition with generous prizes. And if you have never cosplayed before what better time to give it shot that Halloween weekend?
If you are looking for a convention in LA that is easy to get to and doesn’t require as much planning as Wondercon or Comic-con this is probably the con for you. There are not a lot of free things at this con (other than the Halloween candy) so be prepaid to pay out for autographs and photo ops.  I would also make sure that you buy your tickets during the pre-sale or online through Goldstar or a similar ap to get a better price on the badges since you will need your money for the actual convention when you get there.
So see you again next year Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con! As long as you don’t raise prices and nothing more interesting or fun is happening (Halloween will always win over conventions).
