i liked this scene a lot. i think it showcased the kind of view/belief merlin has with herself or the idea of "who" merlin is; she seems to dissassociate with that identity, likely due to losing memories.

Merlin

The amnesia made their personality return to basic

Maybe adhd, starts a mission, forget about it, ends up with 3 half made quests

Hyperfocus on magic

Genderfluid, "Are you a boy or a girl?" - "I can conjure hamsters :D"

Merlin's favorite animal are hamsters, that's why they are their familiars

Completely oblivious to people flirting with them

Someone would need to kiss them and say "I love you" in their face for them to get it

Merlin's true appearance looks like a graveborn (based on @miss-anachronism graveborn Merlin post)

Before amnesia was less friendly and more strict with people

Used to be afraid of making friends and losing them to time

After, they forgot about the immortality and become less afraid

And the trophy of worst liar goes to...

Mirael

Loses control of hers pyromancy when under strong emotions

Still buries the objects she has incinerated, mostly hats

Had a crush on Merlin when she was a student, is not over it

More than once people have asked if she dyes her hair, "the answer is no, please stop asking"

In the depression stage of grief, even though Merlin isn't dead

Valen

Sees general Hogan as a father figure, he will not admit

His scar was from an accident when he was still a cadet, he slipped trying to catch a thief and fell face first

Will tell a different fight story to justify the scar

Everyone has a crush on him

He, Lorsan, Chippy, Hammy and Cassadee bet on who will conquer Merlin first

Valen and Hammie bet on general, Lorsan and Cassadee on Mirael, Chippy is winning with "Magister Merlin will help everyone in need"

General Hogan

Sees Valen as a son, will not tell him

Is in the acceptance phase after Merlin's amnesia

Meet Merlin when he was a cadet and they were investigating some mages on the region

Dolly

The only one that know how to do taxes

Lyca and Lorsan

They have the bunny equivalent to zoomies

Both also flop when relaxed

Cecia

She's dissabled, she can walk short distancies but need the plant chair to locomove for long periods

Her servent is like one of those helper dogs that fetch pens and closes doors

She is the queen of flirting, making you flustered and keeping a blush on your face. She’s very sensual. 

She has a way with words that rivals Valen, and the worst part is that she will follow up on it. Murmuring in your ear, linking your arms together, pressing herself against your side…the works. 

She’s very warm, perfect for cuddles in the cold, which she loves with a FIERY passion. (Heh heh) Not so much in the summer, and she will get a bit huffy if you push her away. 

She dresses up for dates, though she always has the star somewhere on her outfit. It’s a point of pride. People turn to stare as she sashays up to you, but she only has eyes for you, your reaction. 

PDA-wise, she doesn’t actually care that much, but sometimes she does indulge, she’s like a cat, smug that you are hers. Pet her on her head and you’ll probably regret it though. 

Speaking of cats, I imagine that she’s remarkably popular with them, to the point that it gets ridiculous. If she goes to a specific place in Holistone for too long, boom, cats. 

She tolerates them, but starts to appreciate them more if she finds you cooing over the kitties. She might lean against you again and ask for attention too. 

She’s also a witch of fire, and is very proud of her talent, even if she got kicked out of her academy, she still studies and practices quite a bit to improve her talents. She’ll love it if you come watch, though only with some sort of protection spell, obviously. She doesn’t want you to get burned. 

I imagine Mirael also enjoys collecting trinkets for you. Mostly stuff that casts small enchantments to make life easier. Clothes as well, if she dresses you up, you’re bound to both look like her, and look good doing so. 

Mirael is a tall, beautiful woman, and she will use that to her advantage. Though her favorite tricks are ones with a bit of fire magic, like that trick where she blows a kiss and a heart of fire is leaves her fingertips. There are her special performances, just for you :)

Will say my top ship for magister merlin in afk journey is valen, hogan, and mirael, I know the point of this game is not romance and I did not play afk arena to ship anyway, but I'm a shipper at heart and how they set up these three character interaction with merlin?? KILL ME!

Valen strange devotion to protect merlin despite he say so many times "not like you need me anyway" but he still there, yes it's his order but then he doesn't HAVE to go as far as he did, and he also smart enough to know who's merlin really is like. Merlin is not his old friend and as far he knows merlin might as well he a walking myth but then this myth suddenly make himself know by being very fucking dorky and like,,, Oh their potential..

Hogan, oh hogan, I love how soft spoken he talk with merlin, the "my dear old friend...", unlike mirael he didn't mourn or grief as much, he is sad but it's like he already made amends with it,,, and because of that he talk to merlin with this endearment and comforting vibe, of old times, old adventures and shenanigans, and his loyalty.. Ohhhhh the longing

And mirael... GOSH WHAT CAN I SAY??? the "my dearest..." is playing in my head like a broken record player, asking our merlin to a "date", hinting of their past together and SEARCHING FOR THEM FOR 20 YEARS!? gurl got yearning problem!! 😭😭 And I understand! She's by far the most angstiest of the three, the yearning, the grief and the mourning despite merlin is not dead... "I can always recognized you" like fuck I will cry??
