La Rousse. Abel Dominique Boyé (French, 1864-1934). Oil on canvas.
Boyé exhibited widely in official events —particularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. In 1930 he was appointed Officier de la Légion d’Honneur. An expert in genre scenes and an accomplished portraitist, his depictions of fin-de-siècle female characters stand out as particularly beautiful.
