乙女椿[Otometsubaki] Camellia japonica f. otome
乙女[Otome] : Maiden, virgin
椿[Tsubaki] : Camellia
椿 consists of 木偏に春[Ki-hen ni haru]. 木偏 means tree radical at left, 春 means spring. Although it is spring according to the calendar, it is still cold. Today snow began falling before dawn and turned to a quiet rain in the afternoon. Many of the buds of this tree will probably open next month.
一ケ月ばかり前から湯治に來てゐた女の死骸が、川に臨んだ一室に寢かされてあつた。緣端の眞つ赤な乙女椿には朝から春らしい小糠雨が降つてゐた。

An 'Early' Analysis of Chainsaw Man Chapter 138
Woah hey I'm back, I didn't feel like talking about the past few chapters cause I didn't feel like I had anything to add since they all seemed pretty straight forward. That being said this chapter gives me alot of talk about. So we get a name for Sex Offender Girl. Boy this woman only gets worse the more we learn about her. Mifune is quite literally a government plant in denji's high school.
Tumblr media
It's refreshingly disgusting the type of shit these girls will put denji through. It's like Fujimoto keeps trying to one up himself each time he introduces a new "love interest" (Mifune is not a love interest she is a sexual predator let's keep this 100% clear). Maki was a groomer, Mifune is just a straight up Pedophile. She is going to have such a satisfying death I can feel it. This chapter goes on to confirm a few things. First off, Yoshida is apart of Public Safety. Which sorta debunks a previous thought I had of him being apart of another group. I am interested to learn 1. What Divison 7 does 2. Which Division Yoshida is in Given we know 4 was the rejects and 5 are hybrids. My best guess is that Division 7 is a sort of Espionage/Intel Division. Yoshida likely also belongs to Division 7 unless he's got some silliness going on, Which is very likely. Actually- I just now realized something. She calls it "Special Division 7" not Division 7. Looking through the list of Division members on the Wiki, That Special Prefix is very important. The Special Divisions are all full of freaks and monsters. This Sex Offender is more than likely a monster all to her own if she's apart of a Division we've never even heard of.
Tumblr media
Public Safety is just as fucked up as actual governments. It's great.
Tumblr media
I hate that she's winning me over. I want this woman dead stop making me think she's silly. Fujimoto is really good at humanizing horrible people. It mirrors real life monsters who tend to blend in with society and even seem charming on the surface. Moving on from this fucking Sex Offender. Asa continues to be the realest character in the series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I doubt I even need to say anything about how real she is. Asa is a deeply disturbed and neglected person who's shut off from the world despite her own need to validation and recognition. She and Denji are different sides of the same coin. While she tries not to show it, The fulfillment she receives from praise seeps through. This scene specifically resonated with me a ton.
Tumblr media
I wish we got a better look into Denji's thoughts in this scene. I can't even really get a grasp on what he must be thinking through all of this. In the last few days he's lost a major part of himself and has been replaced in face by a fraud and in action by a girl who he was forced to dump by his sister. There was a moment here before the reveal on this very page where I was thinking Swords was someone else. It was clearly someone from Part 1. He had a hoodie so maybe it was Violence? But that couldn't be real Violence was killed by Darkness. WAIT- BEAM? No I couldn't be beam he's been dead aswell. The Chapter is called Swordman so then maybe it's Katana man's return? No he wouldn't be on speaking terms with Denji after his testicles got mashed. So then-
Tumblr media
Turns out it's the Longsword Hybrid from the end of Part 1. Yeah turns out he's alive. Which as many people have pointed out, Means the rest of the Hybrids are alive. So is Reze alive? Certain fans seem to think she is. At this point she seems to be the only match for Denji who isn't a complete psycho. But she still tried to kill him. But then Denji was still willing to run away with her at the end of the fight. If she does come back I hope she and Denji don't rush into a relationship, Let them chill for a bit before getting into anything serious Fujimoto please. If Reze really is alive I'll talk about her more in depth when she shows back up. But I need to say my peace.
Tumblr media
The Whip Hybrid is going to be insane popular and so many of them are going to be just as Horny as Anime-Only Makima fans. I hope Swords ends up being chill with Denji and not another dickhead who tries to kill him. Denji needs another Male friend who doesn't treat him like shit. His only known ""friend"" in part 2 is yoshida and we all know yoshida has not been treating him well.

Randomly fell down a rabbit hole of the original Gen V castings, and here is what I surmised from a combo of wiki summaries, rumours on reddit and vague screen rant articles...
Originally the show was pitched/written by Craig Rosenberg. From there, Jaz, Lizzie, and Maddie were all officially cast. Furthermore, Shane Paul McGhie was cast as Andre and Aimee Carrero was cast as maybe Shetty (not certain). At this point, the script was completely different from what it is now, and I believe was much more of an ensemble show as opposed to Marie being the central character.
Okay, then Reina Hardesty was cast as Fem!Jordan. At this point, Craig Rosenberg left the project due to "creative differences with Amazon" and Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters were brought in as show runners. At which point the original script was heavily changed and both Shane Paul McGhie and Aimee Carrero left the show. Aimee because pre-production ran too long and she received other jobs, and Shane because of "creative differences" again (I think maybe Andre's role was maybe reduced in the new script).
So then, Chance was brought on to replace Shane and I think Derek was brought on around this time. At this point the other cast members had had a few weeks to bond already, but then Reina also backs out, citing "creative differences". Then they brought on London to replace Reina (which according to London was very last minute).
The last to be cast, I believe were Asa (Sam), Shelley Conn (shetty), Patrick (Luke), Sean Patrick Thomas (Andre's dad), Marco Pigossi (Cardoso) and finally Clancy Brown (Brink).
Note, a lot of this is speculation, and it's possible the order of events might not be 100% accurate...
So my questions are...
What was the first script like? And what were the changes that Amazon was so insistent on that it made the original writer leave the project?
What changes were made to Andre and Jordan's characters that made the original actors leave such a lucrative opportunity?
And despite Jordan being portrayed as 100% East Asian in the show with two fully asian actors cast as their parents, why did the casting directors insist on only casting visibly biracial asian actors (particularly wasian) for this role?
Like, I love the casting we did end up with. But it seems like such an intentional casting choice to make three times, why not just make one of Jordan's parents white, then?

Ok I. Do not know how to do this in a better way so. Click read more for an essay on why Mihashi Ren from Oofuri is autistic? @autisticcharactershowdown(hope its ok to tag you lol)
Big Windup--or Ookiku Furikabutte--is a Japanese manga and anime, written by Higuchi Asa. It began publication as a manga in 2003 and got an anime adaptation in 2007. The story follows a young baseball club in their first year- with only ten members, a newbie coach, and a supervisor that knows nothing about baseball, how far in the tournament will they be able to go?
The main character, Mihashi Ren, is a pitcher with severe self esteem issues. In his middle school, he endured extreme bullying and exclusion by his fellow baseball club members. Seemingly because of this, Mihashi has a jumpy personality-- he speaks in fragments, jumps at random, and often has a dorky expression on his face-- but most importantly, he never lost his love for baseball, going as far as to practice after hours at his own house, for long periods of time. Mihashi exhibits many symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder-- namely, “Delayed language skills”, “Hyperactive, impulsive, and/or inattentive behavior”, “Unusual mood or emotional reactions”, “Anxiety, stress, or excessive worry”, and “Obsessive interests”. (CDC) He has also been shown to suffer from insomnia, but this also stems from his anxiety.
Of course, it would be easy to dismiss these symptoms as a result of his bullying in middle school. However, Mihashi has been exhibiting symptoms since his early childhood (Wiki)- specifically his choppy way of speaking and his intense obsession with baseball. Another character also notes that “Its hard understanding (Mihashi).” (Oofuri vol 2, ch 4) Mihashi himself also misunderstands people often, misconstruing advice and concern for threats. This can be seen when Mihashi goes up to bat and his fingers are too close to the front, putting them at risk of being hit. A player on the bench mouths at him to move his fingers back, which Mihashi misconstrues as a threat. Another time, the team captain corners Mihashi to apologize for yelling at him. While the captain wants to discuss and apologize for blowing up at Mihashi, Mihashi thinks
Adding on to his hardship in forming relationships, he seems to have trouble telling how close he can appropriately get. He is one of the last people on the team to switch to calling others by their given names, a practice that is extremely common in high school sports and baseball specifically. It takes him until their second year to call Abe by his given name, despite Abe trying to get him to do it for several months before.
Specifically with his hyper fixation on baseball, Mihashi exhibits intense focus and obsession, practicing to the point that he has impeccable precision, and is even able to split his pitching zone into nine parts, when most players at his level can manage at most four. Not only can he do this, but he has impeccable control, being able to send the ball exactly where he wants it to go every single time. This took a lot of training and focus, and one character comments that Mihashi is a better pitcher than him because he loves baseball more, and "liking it means you concentrate."(Oofuri vol 2, ch 5) Baseball-- and specifically pitching-- is Mihashi's special interest, and he applies all of his energy to it one hundred percent of the time. He also has several types of balls he is able to throw, despite never having an official coach training him. According to his fandom wiki page (a site similar to Wikipedia for shows and other types of media) Mihashi “loves pitching so much that his mother mentions he's always holding a ball, even in his sleep.” It's implied he spends several hours a day practicing pitching and solely pitching, until regulations are placed on him. When his coach tells him he can't pitch outside of practice, he gets very upset. Not only is this because it interferes with his special interest (pitching) but also because it disrupts the schedule he generally abides by.
Mihashi is also very stubborn. This is shown by his distaste when the coach asks him to limit his pitching outside of practice, his refusal to leave the pitcher's mound in middle school, and the fact that he got upset to the point of tears when it was suggested that they train another pitcher. He is extremely adverse to the thought of having a possible replacement, even going so far as to claim he could play two games in the same day, because he wants to be the only one pitching so he can pitch for as long as he wants. In fact, this is what he did in middle school, as the one who monopolized the pitcher's mound.
It is also shown several times in the manga that sometimes Mihashi is unable to verbally speak his mind, due to his fear of criticism. He is shown to fidget when in thought, and when he wants to speak, but can’t. This causes many people to get annoyed with him, because he is unable to properly voice his opinions and thoughts. He also has a hard time maintaining eye contact. In chapter six, Mihashi greets one of his fellow players as they walk to school, and the player is surprised that "he can make eye contact now!" (Oofuri vol 2, ch 6) This is only one of many examples of characters being surprised when Mihashi makes eye contact, or annoyed when he fails to.
Mihashi can also be very gullible at times. When someone tells him something, he tends to believe it, especially if they are someone he trusts. When Abe promises him he wouldn't get injured or sick their entire three years together, Mihashi believes him. However, this is not something Abe has control over, and when Abe does in fact get injured, Mihashi is distraught. When Mihashi was younger, the older kids in his neighborhood convinced him Santa was real, and he believed it for a very long time. He tends to be more trusting, and is often confused at the thought of people purposely deceiving others.
In addition, Mihashi has been shown to have some sensory issues. He is very weak to loud noises, often startling when his teammates shout loudly. He is often startled to the point of tears in these situations. When overwhelmed, which happens often, he tends to burst into tears and make himself as small as possible, withdrawing from the situation.
In terms of autism criteria laid out by the DSM-5, the diagnostic criteria manual, Mihashi meets the following:
Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts, as manifested by the following, currently or by history (examples are illustrative, not exhaustive; see text):
Deficits in social-emotional reciprocity, ranging, for example, from abnormal social approach and failure of normal back-and-forth conversation; to reduced sharing of interests, emotions, or affect; to failure to initiate or respond to social interactions.
Deficits in nonverbal communicative behaviors used for social interaction, ranging, for example, from poorly integrated verbal and nonverbal communication; to abnormalities in eye contact and body language or deficits in understanding and use of gestures; to a total lack of facial expressions and nonverbal communication.
Deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships, ranging, for example, from difficulties adjusting behavior to suit various social contexts; to difficulties in sharing imaginative play or in making friends; to absence of interest in peers.
Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus (e.g., strong attachment to or preoccupation with unusual objects, excessively circumscribed or perseverative interests).

merlin S1 rewatch: episode 8
this is a thing I was doing do you remember? do you remember this was a thing I was doing
it’s been like 3 months since I re-watched episode 8 (and 9!) so I’ve just re-re-watched it. Just now.
Would you let something terrible happen if it meant you'd stop something even worse happening in the future?
A fascinating ethical dilemma. Would you pull the lever in the trolley problem? Would you travel back in time and kill baby Hitler?
It isn't just Mordred’s life for Arthur’s, but Mordred’s life against the Golden Age and the freedom for magic people that Arthur is supposed to bring, so I understand why Merlin felt torn. There’s no clear-cut answer, which is what makes this storyline so compelling.
Anyway, let’s start with my main grievance – Mordred’s powers.
Merlin tells Gaius that he heard the Druid boy’s voice inside his head, to which Gaius replies:
Yes, I've heard of this ability. The Druids look for children with such gifts to serve as apprentices.
In this episode, Mordred mind-speech is a special ability that sets him apart from other children. By season 5, any random Druid can use it, to the point that Merlin is surprised when he tries to communicate with Daegal telepathically and the boy cannot hear him. The episode hints to Mordred’s magic being remarkable, even dangerous (like when he magically shatters a mirror in a fit of rage), but by season 5 Mordred barely even uses it.
Tumblr media
I am fascinated by Mordred’s backstory and disappointed that the writers forgot their own set-up, or decided to ignore it.
I only knew Asa Butterfield from Sex Education, so it was weird to see him as young Mordred. He did a good job at looking mysterious and vaguely threatening, though it must be said he spent most of the episode unconscious.
Who was the Druid accompanying Mordred? The Merlin Wiki transcript names him as Mordred’s father, which is not in the credits (where he's only named as “Cerdan”). I didn’t get father-son vibes from their interactions, but maybe it’s just me. My impression was that he was some kind of mentor. Apparently I saw Mordred and decided he was an orphan. Don't ask me why.
We see Arthur trying to challenge his father (in private) multiple times, but he still spends a good chunk of the episode as an antagonist. He searches for Mordred when his father demands it and he’s willing to let him die, even if he’s not pleased about it. It’s only when Morgana begs him that he caves in (30 minutes into a 43-minute episode).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uther is a fascinating portrayal of an emotionally abusive parent. I wonder what he would have done if Morgana had “come out” to him – because he clearly cared for her, in his own fucked-up way. At least enough not to want her dead. Acceptance would have been out of the question, but I’m not sure he would’ve had her executed. Probably attempted to make her go through some kind of “conversion therapy”. He did keep Gaius as his physician after all, after making him vow never to use magic again (not that Morgana would ever have accepted it).
Now Arthur, I believe, would’ve accepted Morgana if she had told him she had magic. He’s so obviously fond of her, despite all the sibling bickering.
Tumblr media
We get the first mention of the name Emrys – from Mordred, then confirmed by Kilgharrah.
Morgana saying she couldn’t live with herself if anything happened to Gwen or Merlin is such a !!!! statement considering what will happen later in the series
You are a guard of Camelot minding your own business when suddenly someone knocks you out. Just an ordinary Tuesday. You don’t get paid enough for this.
Tumblr media
Arthur telling Mordred (as he's freeing him from his cell) “Don't be scared. I've sent word to your people” -> HOW??? literally how. How does Arthur know where the Druids live. how did he get in contact with them. many such questions
Mordred glaring at Merlin when he finally comes to his rescue is so funny. “I had trouble getting out of the castle” he's like bitch you did NOT!
Tumblr media
Mordred’s name drop at the end is so epic. Even if you aren’t familiar with Arthurian legends (I wasn't), the music and Kilgharrah’s warning to Merlin make this moment sufficiently ominous and tense (and if you already know who’s going to kill Arthur, you will have guessed the boy’s name already anyway)
Arthur returns Mordred to Iseldir. The next time we see young Mordred is in ep 2x03 (The Nightmare Begins) and then again in episode 2x11 (The Witch’s Quickening) — in neither of them he is with Iseldir anymore, though Iseldir is still alive, given he reappears in S3. WHAT HAPPENED. Mordred’s childhood is a compelling mystery. I like the idea of there being different Druid clans with different beliefs about Emrys and Arthur’s destiny – and possibly Mordred’s, too. Not every Druid recognises Merlin as Emrys or thinks of him as a savior, after all (see Sefa and Kara). Is this why Mordred was (perhaps?) abandoned by Iseldir? Did he find out something about Mordred's role in Arthur's death? It’s an interesting idea. To me.

i scoured several baby names sites years ago and i still use this list to this day if i’m stumped on what to name a character of mine! figured i might as well post it since it might help someone else! feel free to add on ^^
https://parenting.firstcry.com/articles/50-baby-names-that-means-healer-for-girls-and-boys/ (boys?? ig??) Aeson Before Jason, it was Aeson. This variation of name had commanded the hearts and minds of the warriors. Aeson means ‘healer’. Alaunus Alaunus is the name Sun God in Gaulish. It also means prediction, and revenge, which also happens to be related to the Greek god named Apollo. The name Alaunus signifies ‘brightness’. Asa A simple, sober, and scriptural name, Asa, means ‘expert, healer, or an individual born in the morning sun’. This is a uni-sexual name, that sounds equally good on females. Galen Galen is the name of a second-century physician who developed the basis of medicine. Galen means ‘quiet or healer’. Helem Helem, an Israeli word, signifying ‘to dream or to heal’. Amethyst Amethyst has been utilized in healing and enchantment since time immemorial. As Amethyst is a birthstone from February, it would be best utilized for a young lady from February. what do you think is the most off the wall insane torture method asa has ever used on a victim?
I think what was suggested here just about takes the cake
I’ll paste a paragraph from the wiki page below the cut lol it’s gnarly
“Taking two boats framed exactly to fit and answer each other, they lie down in one of them the malefactor that suffers, upon his back; then, covering it with the other, and so setting them together that the head, hands, and feet of him are left outside, and the rest of his body lies shut up within, they offer him food, and if he refuse to eat it, they force him to do it by pricking his eyes; then, after he has eaten, they drench him with a mixture of milk and honey, pouring it not only into his mouth, but all over his face. They then keep his face continually turned towards the sun; and it becomes completely covered up and hidden by the multitude of flies that settle on it. And as within the boats he does what those that eat and drink must needs do, creeping things and vermin spring out of the corruption and rottenness of the excrement, and these entering into the bowels of him, his body is consumed. When the man is manifestly dead, the uppermost boat being taken off, they find his flesh devoured, and swarms of such noisome creatures preying upon and, as it were, growing to his inwards.”
so it’s the process of getting very slowly eaten alive by bugs and becoming a maggot breeding ground while rotting in a pool of your own body fluids. sounds like what asa’s gonna do to arkin if he escapes his fate at the end of the collection ;v;
regardless of who his victim is his mind is gonna be working overtime to make this as miserable as possible. it would be a little project all on its own. he’d build a special tank for it, completely enclosed so the insects have nowhere to land on and nothing to eat but you. he’d weld you into a steel casing instead of wood so he can heat up the metal from beneath. it wouldn’t get hot enough to kill you, just enough to keep you pouring sweat all day and writhing around to try and stop your skin from burning. he’d come back to dump in another bucket of flies and mosquitos daily. he wouldn’t take you out when you’re dead, he’d let your body dissolve into a warm soup for his bugs to slurp.

And holy shit they couldnt've been more right about that and also I'm getting flashbacks to the hour and a half I spent reading a discussion about those three dragons that I'm pretty sure was on the wiki community but it was a while ago so idk

関東蒲公英[Kantōtanpopo] Taraxacum platycarpum var. platycarpum
関東[Kantō] : Kantō region
蒲公英[Tanpopo] : Dandelion
The reading of 蒲公英 as tanpopo is the adaptation of the letters of the Chinese name with the reading of the Japanese name, or an ateji.
The flower of Kantōtanpopo has involucral bracts that do not warp and their tips are hooked. However, in recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to identify it due to hybridization with 西洋蒲公英[Seiyōtanpopo](Western dandelion, Taraxacum officinale).
[Sate, tokei ya seiukei wo motanu tokoro dewa, kusaki wo kansatsu shite toki ya tenki wo satchi sita rei ooshi. Asagao, hirugao, yuugao nado, sono na no gotoku sono toki ni hiraki, seiyō demo oshiroibana wo, hiraku toki ni chinande, yoji (fowa-ōkurokku) to yobu. Tanpopo (tanpopo) wa, honpō de asa hiraki hiru igo shibomu to iu ga, ōshū dewa, maiasa goji ni hiraki gogo hachiji ni tojiru kara bokudō no tokei toshi, mata, seiukei tari. Seiten ni sono shushi no ke ga tenkai shi, uten niwa tojiau kara da.] Well, there are many examples in places where people did not have clocks or rain gauges, they often observed plants and trees to determine the time and weather. Morning glory (lit. morning face), Japanese bindweed (lit. daytime face), Calabash (lit. evening face), etc., as their names suggest, open at the right time, and even in the West, Mirabilis jalapa is called "Four O'clock," after the time it opens. In our country, Dandelion is said to open in the morning and shrivel after noon, meanwhile, in Europe, it opens at 5:00 every morning and closes at 8:00 (every) evening, making it a herdboy's clock and a rain gauge. This is because the hairs of the seed unfold in sunny weather and close together in rainy weather. God i can imagine chuuya being a fiend so well but i HATE the idea of it. Because if chuuya would be a fiend then it’s not actually chuuya, yknow?
Like… wouldn’t that technically be arahabaki if we’re going with chuuya being the corruption devil? That’s why i feel like hybrid fits more than fiend. Maybe he could be like asa and yoru? (But what even ARE they the wiki says yoru is a fiend so turns out your body can host a whole fiend while keeping your conscience/soul or whatever??? I don’t even want to think about this rn i just don’t get it)
I imagine chuuya being a mix of denji and aki. He lived a similar childhood do denji but he HATES devils like aki. He made a contract with one when he was 7 but that did not fuel his hatred for them. But then that also has me wondering why would he make a contract with a devil? What was the corruption devils wish? Would it be something malicious or would it be something sweet like the dream pochita had???
Csm au is so good but there is SO much to think about it becomes confusing. 😭😭
DUDE I thought the exact same thing. Like Chuuya being forcefully coinhabitated like asa. I thought it fit because the corruption devil could be what anyone thinks of themselves as corruption. No one person will have the same shared idea of what it is, and chuuya—someone who holds himself to a pretty harsh standard of what he believes is right—would be able to wield it well I think.
So if he did end up sharing consciousness with the devil, I’m not sure how he would take that. Arahabaki isn’t a real god or demon or anything, it just has the equivalent power of one. Damn near limitless energy they tried to stuff into one little being. That also gets me thinking about the gravity thing again. I was a physics major before so I was all over this shit. Lots of people fear it more than you think. People are afraid of falling due to their own pull of gravity, people are afraid of losing their balance, having something heavy fall on them, being too close to another car when driving, fear of outer space; which all ties into barophobia. Gravity is actually much scarier than a lot of people think because we honestly have no clue what it is in the actual realm of things. It is an attractor we cannot understand because we simply have not looked at it long enough, and every person and being and little tiny microscopic thing has gravity effecting it. Also, black holes which are collapsed because of gravity. All of that mass compressing under it starts to break down and essentially rip and tear apart the fabric of space time 😭
I got so carried away with this actually don’t let me talk about physics. BUT BACK TO THE CONVO I also imagine him being a mix of Aki and denji with the extremely tough upbringing but extreme loathing. Chuuya takes a lot of shit from others, but not as much as denji. He’s got that chip of self sacrifice always on his shoulder because of his empathy. In this au he would be backed into a corner and forced to make a contract. I’m not sure he would ever adopt a devil even if it looked like a animal🧐 Chuuya is about self survival first when he has no one depending on him. If he made a contract, it would be in the worst situation possible because Chuuya wants to keep himself as himself first and foremost. I’m sorta getting justice devil vibes though….but he would have a monopoly over the devil he makes a contract with, I don’t think he’d be willing to share. And the devil would probably like taking over his body/sharing its power with him because he’s an incredibly dedicated vessel.
I LOOOVVEEEE THIS AU IT IS CONFUSING BUT U LOVEE IT!! SEND MORE IDEAS GUYS IM EATING THESE UP!!

Point of Interest - Pleasance
-Click here to return to the index page for Points of Interest-
This Point of Interest is located in Lemoyne.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only accessible building is the schoolhouse which shows signs of fire damage and had a tree fall on it sometime after.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The small town was founded in August 1883 and then mid September, 10 residents were killed in a massacre.
Now my personal theory based on facts pointed out on the wiki and the writing on the house on the right side of the town is this: Either the people who lived there were in a cult, worshiped something other than what was accepted in the area, OR were killed BY a cult.
The writing on the house says “unclean sinners” and “ill with sin” so maybe people did get sick, maybe that’s just what some religious fanatics thought they were. Or maybe they thought the people got sick because of their sins. Something else pointed out was the church has no cross. There’s a weather vane but no cross. Which points more towards the town was a different religion and outsiders of the town attacked them, killing 10 of them who were buried.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the Red Dead wiki:
The town has much in common with Boston Township, Summit County, Ohio, otherwise known simply as “Helltown”. The church in Boston Township is almost identical to the one in Pleasance, and both were rumored to have been abandoned due to Satanists.
-There was also rumored to be a chemical spill in Boston Township in 1974, causing animals to change in size and behavior; the most famous rumored animal said to be lurking in Boston Township was a giant python. Similarly, there is a giant snake outside of Pleasance.
