Israeli F-35I Adir fighters join the U.S. Red Flag exercise for the first time

For the first time, the Israeli Air Force joined the Red Flag-Nellis 23-2 combat training exercise, held from March 12 to 24 in Nevada, USA, with its F-35I Adir fighters.

The recent Red Flag combat war exercise emphasized the improvement of capabilities and the strengthening of the combatants of the U.S. Central and European Commands. During the exercise, the Israeli Air Force participated with its F-35I Adir and focused on preparing for cutting-edge combat and strategic competition through the Red Flag training program.

Nellis Air Base and the Nevada Test and Training Range offered a training opportunity for U.S. and Israeli combat air forces with more than 2,200 realistic targets and threat systems. Participants conducted a variety of scenarios, including defensive air combat, suppression of enemy air defenses and interdiction of offensive combat forces.

Colonel Jared Hutchinson, commander of the 414th Combat Training Squadron (CTS), said: “The participation of the Israeli F-35s in the Red Flag 23-2 represents a significant step for the U.S. and its allies in advancing to the next level of air warfare. This exercise offers a rare chance for fighters from both countries to integrate their most advanced capabilities. Being the Fifth Generation Center of Excellence, Nellis Air Base is able to host allied F-35 units on the ground and test them in the air."

“Red Flag will continue to evolve with cutting-edge technology in war,” Hutchinson said, “No one is better at taking the most advanced combat capabilities and applying them to the most replicative and relevant combat training scenarios in the world than the 414 CTS.”

The Red Flag is a military training exercise at Nellis Air Base in Nevada, which involves several branches of the U.S. military and allied nations. Its main objective is to provide realistic combat training scenarios. Simulated air-to-air and air-ground attacks are performed to increase combat readiness and force interoperability.

22 years ago today at the Cambria County Airport in Johnstown Pa just a half hours drive about a 5 min flight from Shanksville Pa the Flight 93 site I saw an AH-1W armed for an actual Combat Air Patrol for the first time ever. It was done at 1200-1300 I don't remember the exact time. We had been informed that the one missing plane, had gone into the ground in Shanksville and that we needed to be ready to send birds up to provide overhead support should the need arise. That was when I knew though I didn't know exactly when or where I would be heading I was going to be going to war. I was going to support and be part of killing the pieces of shit who attacked our innocent men women amd children. And I knew that though there had been several thousand of our innocents killed that they were just the first of the innocents who would be killed because of the Saudi Arabians and Egyptians who bought into the Evil that was being preached by the hardcore Mullahs and the other Mohammadan Zealots. I haven't forgotten nor have I forgiven them and I never will.

The crew of Dragon USCV-7 will be launching tomorrow morning (26 Aug) at 08:27BST from LC-39A Kennedy Space Centre onto of the 250th Falcon 9. The Dragon spacecraft will be C210 Endeavour making its third flight.

The Dragon Commander is Lieutenant Colonel Jasmin Moghbeli of the US Marine Corp, bottom right, an Afghanistan veteran flying AH-1 attack helicopters. Later she became a USMC test pilot flying the AH-1W Super Cobta, AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom. She was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2017 and has been working on the Starship HLS program.

The Pilot is Finnish ESA astronaut Andrea Mogensen (bottom left) Research Engineer, research assitant at the Center for Space Research 2004-07, attitude & orbit control systems enginner for HE Space Operations subcontracted to Airbus working on ESA's Swarm mission 2007-08 and in 2009 a research fellow at Surrey Space Centre UK. He was selected as an ESA astronaut in 2009 (ESA-3/EAC), he trained as a private pilot with Lufthansa and is qualified to use both the US EMU and Russian Orlan suits. HIs second ESA mission is designated as Huginn after Odin's ravens form Norse mythology., conducting climate, materiel science and physiology experiments. He will become the first non-US Pilot of a Dragon crew spacecraft.

Mission Specialist Dr Satoshi Furukawa (top right) from JAXA is from Yokohama City, Kanagava. Former surgeon at the University of Tokto Hospital 1989-1999. Selected as a NASDA astonaut in 1999 (NASDA-4). He qualified as a Soyuz flight enginner in 2004 and a NASA mission specialist in 2006. He partisipated in the NASA analog mission NEEMO 13 in 2007. He was appointed as head of JAXAs Space Biomedical Research group from 2014-2021.

The second Mission Specailsit is Russian Cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov (top left) from Smolensk. Research Enginner, Chief Executive Officer at Volvo Vostok (trucks), Khimki 2005-2006. Analyst at A.T.Kearney GmbH (engineering consultants), Moscow 2012-2013 and consultant at Boston Consulting Group Limited (Moscow) Ltd 2012-2013 and LLC Ferronordic Machines, Khimki OKP (plant hire) 2018-2020. He was selected as a Cosmonaut in 2018.

The AH-1J Sea Cobra is a twin engine, all-weather attack helicopter developed by Boeing. The aircraft has been in service with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) since 1986.
