Sooo, I saw BEETLEJUICE! And holy SHIT it was AMAZING! Like, I already loved the songs and knew I was gonna love it, but wow that exceeded all my expectations and more!
Lemme just write my thoughts now that they're very fresh:
-Man, that was such a great experience, from start to finish, and getting to see it live--with the full original cast, no less!--definitely beat what I could imagine. All the actors are flawless, the spoken parts are hilarious, and the set design is OUT OF THIS WORLD, no pun intended. No, really, there truly is a giant snake there, and more! It was pure delight getting to see it all come to life (or death? I'll stop now).
-As for the actors, OOH BOY! This is my first time seeing a play with the whole OG cast, and they're all amazing! Mr. Brightman is a powerhouse, he's so fucking hilarious and magnetic, and the audience just couldn't get enough of him. Seriously, even if he was just standing still everyone was clapping and hollering, he's incredible.
-SOPHIA! Goddamn, I can't believe how talented she is, and she's only 18! Like, you go and hold those notes, girl, you go! Also, she was so funny and cute and nailed that gothy teen aesthetic.
-Ok, I love the Maitlands, they're so cute. Kerry is so mega talented and made Barbara so adorable and fun, and MAN I was DYING every time she did the "let's HAUNT THIS BITCH" voice. What a cutie. And speaking of cuties, Rob as Adam was so so good! I just wanted to give the guy a hug, but also wow, I love his voice so much! (Also, when he stands up to Betelgeuse and screams, we all started cheering for him, it was great).
-And let me say Miss Leslie Kritzer is a DAMN STAR. God, she was INCREDIBLE as Delia, I couldn't hold my laughter because every little expression and movement was on point. Also, her as Miss Argentina killed me and brought me back to life (and I'm argentinean so I mean that, loved her so much).
-Oh, and Delia dabbed, that fucking GOT ME.
-Also, can we talk about our boy BJ being an equal opportunity creep? Oh my god, poor Adam, but I couldn't stop laughing at their scenes together (FGSG BJ called himself daddy in one part, I died). AND THEN when Adam tricks BJ by going all "I want you~" and kissing him to get the knife? KING.
-Speaking of that, there's this part where, with Lydia and Charles gone to the Netherworld, BJ transforms the house into a Jeopardy-like show (complete with funny skeleton people as audience), and Delia, Adam and Barbara as the contestants (and Adam has "Sexy" written as his contestant name fjfnfjfk).
I don't know guys, I just loved this a lot lot lot. If you have the chance to go see it, please do because it's the complete package: visually amazing, funny as all hell, and with a cast of incredibly talented people.
