Self Promo Sunday: “Find My Way Back to You”
(I started this one shot before 6x15 "A Wondrous Place" aired, and therefore it picks up right where "Page 23" (6x14) ended. It allows for Snow to do more what I would have loved to have seen from her in 6x15 – encourage Emma that there is no way her True Love would leave her, and take action to help her daughter find out what is wrong. In general, I wanted the Charmings to be more concerned about Killian and know that his just vanishing after a fight didn't add up, so I wrote it. (I even wrote a separate short fic, a divergent/missing scene from 6x15 for Henry, for the same reason!) Also, my first thought at Gideon not wanting Killian around was that he had a curse planned for Emma. I still want them have an actual, magical whoosh of air, rainbow-tinged TLK as well, so this is what happened in response to all of that going on in my mind.

Summary: When Gideon strikes at Emma in her weakest moment, it will take her family's support and the return of her True Love to put things to rights.
by: @snowbellewells
Three a.m. and still no sign of her pirate. Their huge two story house feels as cold and empty in the silent dark of late night turned early morning as it had during those nightmarish days when she had ensconced herself in it as the Dark One in her solitary lair. Just as those ghastly memories have begun to vanish for good, the foreboding tendrils wind their way back in Killian's absence. She did this; her eyes close as she once more stares out the window into the dark, deserted yard, forehead resting against the frigid glass, chilling her skin along with the cold she feels spreading through her chest. Unbidden, Killian's pointed, angry words as the Dark One himself ring in her mind – cutting like tiny knives – "you push away anyone who gets close to you…that's why you'll always be an orphan…"
Knowing now that he does not truly feel that way, that he hates the fact she ever heard those words from his lips, does little to comfort her alone in the still watch of the night. The remembrance of cold winter nights curled up together under heaps of cozy blankets as he whispered and kissed the very opposite into her skin – how bloody brilliant she is, how she is his match, his other half, how they will always have each other and never be alone again, how he will never leave her – is cold comfort now that she fears she has driven him away.
Listlessness overtakes the Savior as she paces a sleepless route from window to sink to the living room couch and back again, peace and rest as far from her as they have ever been. At last, she curls into the oversized armchair in the corner, the one which has become Killian's favorite place to read the piles of books that both Belle and Henry recommend and loan him, her eyes glazing over until she barely notices the dark lightening to grey, then streaking the sky with pinks and golds as the sun rises again. The new day dawns with her True Love missing, and though she still believes in him and clings to her faith that he wouldn't desert her, he isn't here. She had been justified in what she'd said to him – he does have to trust her, just as she must have faith in him – but the fact that he is out there alone somewhere hurting and drowning in self-hatred, that he didn't feel welcome in their home, makes the words, warranted or not, feel hollow.
When the door creaks open and her mother enters, there to pick Emma up for their near-weekly breakfast at Granny's, Emma barely flinches or even looks up at Snow's chipper greeting. It doesn't take long for her mother to gather that something isn't right when Emma gives no answer, and when she rounds the corner into the living room to find her grown daughter curled up as small as she can make herself in the chair, arms around her legs and chin resting on her knees, Snow's happily excited face falls rapidly.
She comes to kneel in front of her child, resting her hands over Emma's clenched ones soothingly, and looking up into her blank, unfocused face. "Honey?... Emma?" She chafes her hands up and down her daughter's forearms until Emma finally startles slightly and seems to register her mother's presence. "What is it? Are you alright? …Where's Killian?"
It is this last question which finally seems to snap her daughter back into the present, and as she turns to really focus on Snow, her stoic façade truly crumbles. Shaking her head, she finally clasps her mother's hand in return, and whispers in as fragile a voice as her mother has ever heard her use, "I don't know, Mom… I don't know."
"Well, come then," Snow soothes, pulling Emma to her in a hug, and holding her as she rocks back and forth slightly, comforting her princess as she aches to have done all those missed years Emma had been growing up. When she sits back slightly, gently brushing back the loose strands of hair that have escaped Emma's braid with maternal tenderness, "We need to go find him," she urges. "The way that man loves you? Whatever happened with the two of you, you'll work it out. He's probably on his way to you as we speak."
Emma knows her mother doesn't have the whole story, but despite all that, Snow's patent hope and optimism bolster her spirits enough to urge her to her feet as her mother pulls her up. Soon, she is leading the way down to the docks in search of her pirate.
So it is a sleep-deprived, fuzzy and anxiety-distracted version of herself who stands on the wooden planks, frozen in unprepared surprise and vulnerability when Gideon materializes behind them, malicious grin on his face and a taunt on his cruelly curved lips. "Looking for someone, 'Savior'?"
Emma scowls, feeling the heat in her blood rising angrily at the look on his face – just knowing without a doubt that this freak has done something to keep Killian from her, to keep him from coming back home. "You know that I am. What have you done with him?" she growls.
"Nothing really," Gideon shrugs nonchalantly, gloating at his power over the situation, much in the way his father always has. "He'll be quite alright, I'm sure. He's just several thousand leagues under the sea – well away from here and unable to disrupt my plans."
"Your plans?!" Emma spits. "Just what are you planning anyway, you sick little – "
But before she can finish, Gideon flings out a glowing hand, magic shooting toward her from it at top speed. Emma reacts quickly to throw up a defensive shield, but it isn’t quite fast enough. She has been fighting nonstop for so long, one villain, realm, and catastrophe after another, to save everyone but herself, and she is just too tired. Her sleepless night, distress, and the lackluster concern for her own safety all work against her to let Gideon gain the edge, and she freezes for a second as what he has thrown at her makes impact. Then, her eyes glass over, fall closed, and she crumples senseless to the surface of the pier.
Snow is stock-still and speechless at her side, too shocked to move at their robed attacker's sudden appearance, at least until Emma falls. On her knees beside her daughter instantly, a cry of distress escapes the Enchanted Forest's monarch as she shakes Emma's shoulder in futile hope of rousing her.
"That won't work," Gideon intones confidently as he watches her efforts. "You of all people ought to recognize the spell, ‘Snow White’. But I've tweaked it a bit for my own purposes. Take it from someone who – like your daughter – grew up painfully without a mother, whatever the reasons, I'm not sure you could waken her, even without my refinements. All the same, I've guarded against it, just in case. You will keep her safe though, until I decide what to do with her, won't you?" And with a sickeningly self-satisfied smile, he vanishes in a red column of magical smoke.

Killian Jones is beside himself as the Nautilus finally resurfaces in Storybrooke's harbor once more. If it weren't for Nemo, Liam, and the once again fortuitously met Ariel, he would probably have pulled all his hair out or maimed his one good hand from punching walls in frustration. As is, it has been nearly a week since their ship had been sent forcibly from the Land Without Magic. In every waking moment since – and they've all been waking; he cannot sleep, only pace his quarters, stomach churning at the thought that he will have appeared to abandon Emma like so many before him – he has been struggling, racing against time, desperate to get back to his Love. Not only can he not bear the thought of her hurting because of him, of it seeming for even a second that he would desert her, but the more time that passes, and the more complicated it proves to get home, the more frighteningly sure Killian becomes that Gideon needed him specifically out of the picture. Whatever the Dark One's spawn has in mind, it means danger for Emma, and he isn't there to fight at her side.
With hardly a backward glance, he tears from the hold and clamors up onto the docks the moment the ship settles in a berth. Running toward their shared home as if that wretched hell hound from the Underworld is on his heels once more, Killian barely calls a 'thank you' over his shoulder to his comrades before he is halfway up the street.
Bursting through the front door after clattering up the steps of their porch, Killian calls out Emma's name, hoarse with panic, even as he can clearly see that the lights are dim and the place is eerily still. When searching every room on the first floor in rapid succession yields nothing, he bounds up the stairs to their bedroom, still crying out for his Swan; still hoping against hope that she will rise from their bed to welcome him, arms outstretched and both of their sins ready to be forgiven with love.
Finding that room empty and cold as well is the battering ram which almost breaks him. 'Where is she?' 'What's happened to her?' repeats round and round in his head, as his adrenaline flees and he sinks on suddenly weak, shaking legs to the edge of the bed, praying she is alright, that she hasn't given up on him and left this home they dreamed of for so long – that he isn't too late. For a moment, he buries his face in his hand, a few tears leaking from his eyes here in this dusky quiet where no one else can see.
His despair does not last though – whether it is the small kernel of undefeatable hope, purpose, love for Emma – for his family – or just plain stubbornness; whatever it is that has kept him pressing on throughout lonely centuries, it pulls Killian Jones to his feet again. Soon he is back down the stairs, across the porch and moving down the street, instinct and his heart guiding him where he needs to go, and urging him forward as quickly as he can get there.
At Emma's parents' loft apartment, he hesitates only briefly, steeling himself with a deep breath for the anger and betrayal he may face, and the fist to the nose Dave may greet him with. But he doesn't have time to waste; he has already been gone too long. With every moment he is apart from his Swan, his desperation and fear for her grows, and he cannot help imagining worse and worse reasons why Gideon might have wanted him far away.
Knocking on the door, mouth dry, heart pounding, Killian has only moments to contemplate what to say, if he will have to push them aside to gain entrance, if he will be able to stand the harsh words he is bound to hear and the disappointment in eyes which had finally begun to regard him as a part of their family, when he hears the lock turn and the door swings open to reveal a rumpled-looking and red-eyed Snow White. To his shock, and throwing him completely off balance, Snow reaches for his arm and pulls him into the apartment, hugging him tightly with her voice muffled against his jacket as she says, "Thank goodness you're here, Killian! It was starting to look like something awful had happened to you…"
Killian sputters disbelievingly even as Snow pulls away, wiping her cheeks and sniffling a bit, and allows her to drag him further into the main room, even as he stumbles over his own feet. "But…I…You are? Did Emma not tell you what I've done?"
Snow shakes her head, dithering and waving her hand as if to bat his qualms away. "She didn't explain…just that she didn't know where you were." And here the rightful ruler of the Enchanted Forest gives him the smallest of sad little smiles, "None of that matters right now. We need you… Emma needs you."
"Doesn't matter?" Killian repeats, blinking and completely nonplussed.
Snow dips her head, hiding her expression from him as she leads him on by the hand, up the steps to the room Killian knows was Emma's for a short time.
However, if he had thought himself confused and troubled already, it is nothing compared to the sight which overwhelms him upon entering Emma's small boudoir. There, lying as if in peaceful, permanent slumber, is his Emma, stretched out upon the bed, eyes closed in seeming rest with her golden hair arrayed across the pillow in a spill of light and hands folded over each other on her stomach. Yet, having felt her curled against him many times in the tiniest possible ball, as if protecting herself even in sleep, and knowing how often she tosses and turns, tangling her long legs in the sheets, Killian realizes immediately something is not right – Emma is never so still.
Even if that had not alerted him, the appearance of David, Henry, and Belle around the bed would have. Dave is slumped in a chair by the nightstand, looking devastated and lost as he watches over his daughter, and Henry, head bowed and silent, seated on the bed by his mother's feet, while Belle stands near him, worried and torn, her hand on her grandson's shoulder. It flashes through his head that they resemble the mournful tableau around a glass coffin in the cartoon Emma and Henry had gleefully shown him some weeks ago, the one that supposedly told her parents' story. Except these were not somewhat cutesy hand drawn dwarves; these were the members of his family, and he had no such illusions that things could be righted as instantaneously. Surely if the immediately obvious solution could work, they would have done it already?
Slow, hesitant steps bring him closer to the bed where his princess, his True Love, lies. And though he wants to fall to his knees, rail and scream at the universe and the unfairness of her loss, he finds that he can only stare dazedly until he finally reaches her other side, and runs a tender, aching finger along a strand of her hair.
David looks up at his entrance, and though his mouth tightens in a hard, thin line, he says nothing, spews none of the accusations Killian had expected from him, nor does he order the pirate from his home.
"Dave…I…" Killian starts, swallowing hard and trying to offer any kind of apology that could possibly seem like enough. Even if the other man doesn't know the horrible discovery about his father's long ago murder, Prince Charming may well believe that Killian left his daughter without a word when she was in grave danger and needing his support.
But the prince shakes his head slowly, dismissing the need. "All of that can wait for later," he sighs, voice low and ragged. "I knew something wasn't right with your disappearance anyway. Just… please … wake my daughter."
Killian is taken aback, jerking upright in surprise. "How can I?" he asks, reaching to twine his fingers with Emma's limp, cool ones, needing the contact whether she can press his in return or not. "If you or Henry couldn't wake her, why would I be able to, after how I've ruined what was between us?'
Belle speaks up then, her voice shaky with a clear mix of concern and guilt. "The best we can figure is that… G-Gideon altered the Sleeping Curse. Possibly because Henry has shared a True Love's Kiss with her before, he is unable to repeat the action? And…" she trails off hesitantly, as David picks up the explanation.
"…And because Snow and I weren't there for her all those years, despite my best intentions, in some way I did fail her. At any rate, what we have with our own daughter must not be strong enough to be True Love either." His head bows again to rest on Emma's shoulder, the agonized emotion in her father's voice and the defeated curve of his strong shoulders unravelling. Killian that much more.
Then Snow speaks up just behind him, her voice soft yet full of hope as she prods him with a hand at his back. "You're the only one who can bring her back, Killian. I know it! I've never seen her look at anyone else the way she does at you. She wasn't herself without you, even before Gideon did this, and she needs to know you're here."
Shaking his head, Killian licks his lips nervously, going down on his knees at Emma's side, pulling her hand to his chest and looking at her son. Henry meets his gaze and gives his mom's other True Love a nod of urging encouragement, a tiny, watery grin lifting one corner of his mouth.
Bending his head to the pillow beside hers, Killian closes his eyes for a moment, gathering his courage and praying that the bond they have shared is still alive; for she does not deserve this fate. "Swan, I love you… more than I can ever express, despite how I must have hurt you unwillingly. Please… come back to us. Come back to me."
Then, with infinite adoration he leans forward, pressing his lips to hers once more in a sweet kiss. He has missed her so much in the last few days and nights that it feels instantly as if he is once more whole – like he has finally, truly, come home. In the following second, a whoosh of air and light sweeps through the room, ruffling their hair and clothes, sweeping up and invigorating them all. Rainbow color seems to radiate out in a wave of electric power from where their lips meet, and it steals Killian's breath. His heart near ceases to beat as he stares in awe at his princess' face.
Emma's lashes flutter, then she blinks rapidly, sucking in a huge gasp of air as she stirs, and finally Killian feels as if he can breathe again. She sits up quickly, a smile lighting her face as she reaches out for him and pulls him close desperately. "Killian," she exclaims, "you came back!"
Tears threaten, and he has to swallow several times to answer in a rough murmur, "Emma…Love…of course I did. I never wanted to leave you."
She nods against his shoulder, burrowing closer in his embrace, and neither of them even budge when first Henry, and then the rest, pile on in relief and joy, making it a chaotic, clumsy six-person hug. The warmth and belonging spread through his veins and push out the chill loneliness Killian had feared taking over him once more. Laughing and breathing in the warm cinnamon scent of her, he buries his nose in Emma's hair, feels Henry and Belle at his back, and lets Snow's hope fill the last empty cracks hidden away in his soul. No more fear of being lost at sea. He has his harbor, and he means to stay.

Initial Thoughts: 6x14—Page 23
Normally, before I sit down to actually write these things I take a quick perusal of my dash just to get a feel for the general mood of the fandom.  This time, I decided to sit down and write my initial thoughts before I look at a single other person’s post.  So…this could be one big popular opinion, or one big unpopular opinion, but in any case, it’s my opinion.
So general overview? Gideon has officially made it to the top of my “Storybrooke most hated” list.  Impressive!  He managed in 4 episodes to unseat his father, who’s held the celebrated position for a good 2 seasons now!
In all seriousness, though, what did I think of the episode?  I honestly loved it!  The general theme of this episode was forgiving yourself and learning to love yourself no matter how villainous you might have been in the past.
The Regina/EQ situation was not at all resolved in the way I expected, but it works for me.  I’m a little shell-shocked as an OQ fan, but…I actually kind of like it.  Regina gets both: she gets Robin, and she gets to be a model for the audience of someone who loved and lost and is able to find meaning in her life once again.
The CS in this episode was angsty.  Really angsty.  Even so, I loved it so much!  It really, truly opens the way for some amazing payoff in the next few episodes.
The promo for 6x15 leaves me pumped for what’s coming!  The next episode looks to be all about CS and their true love story.
Okay, let’s delve a little deeper into the two main stories of the episode: Regina/EQ and Killian/CS.
Regina/EQ
Suffice it to say the resolution of this storyline was not what I was expecting!  I was expecting Regina to reabsorb the EQ.
I didn’t like Henry’s insistence that there was good in the EQ as well as bad.  It was inconsistent with the explanation they gave us for the serum.  Regina didn’t split out another person, she split out the bad portions of herself.  A portion of a person can’t grow and change. To that end, I was quite glad Henry’s statement ended up NOT to be the case.  The EQ didn’t change, Regina did.  Regina took ownership over both sides of herself, and in doing so, got rid of the threat of the EQ.
I thought this was a quite powerful episode for Regina—in both timelines.  At first, I was a bit underwhelmed with the flashback.  After all, it seemed like just another retread of the same old story we’ve gotten for 6 years: the Evil Queen goes after Snow White, and ends up failing, but it turned out to be much more.  Reginal learned that it’s not Snow, but herself that she hates most.  To me this is a very powerful message.  Regina became a world class, terrible villain not just because of a lack of love, but because of hate.  Rather than take Tink’s advice the second time around, give up the villainy, make amends and then pursue love rather than vengeance, Regina went full-speed ahead toward making herself a person the young, idealistic woman she used to be would hate more than ever.  (And thus, making herself a person who made terrible choices that caused horrifying harm to countless innocent people.)
In the present, Regina came to completely own the fact that the Evil Queen is her.  The EQ’s mistakes are her fault.  Regina brought her there out of a misguided attempt to cleanse herself from the darkness.  But darkness can’t be expunged that way.  It has to be fought and worked through on a daily basis.  Regina needed to take back her darkness and move forward in a healthy direction, having the darkness within but choosing not to give into it.  And that, ultimately, is exactly what she did!  I’m proud of her!
So the shears returned once again!  I was genuinely shocked when the EQ actually used them on Regina, but I figured it was a given that they would be used on someone at some point in the season. This use of them seemed to be as good as any.  It did, however, nix any lingering ideas I might have had that Regina would integrate with the EQ.  Once that connection was snapped, the EQ became her own entity.  (Still not exactly a person…more of a fake person, like all the people in the wish world.)
What a powerful moment when Regina was about to do the wrong thing again and crush the EQ’s heart (taking the easy but inadvisably bad route)!  The EQ told her she hated her, and then Regina caught sight of her reflection in the mirror, and it all clicked.  Regina realized what she needed to do.  Others have forgiven her for her wrong actions.  She needs to forgive herself.  She needs to stop hating herself and move forward in a healthy direction.  It’s like Nemo said to Killian early in the episode.  Guilt and self-hatred can be as destructive as vengeance.  The only way that Regina can move forward in a healthy, heroic direction, is if she forgives herself for her past, accepts her darkness within once again, and fights against it in the right way.
I loved that she did just that.  She found a way to help both the EQ, and by extension the rest of the town.  I’m proud of her!  Doing something like that isn’t easy.
So what are we to make of the way things ended up for the EQ?  I really liked the diner scene with Regina, Snow, Henry, Zelena and the EQ. Snow finally got a chance to confront the Evil Queen with all the terrible things she’d done to her in the past, and the Evil Queen sincerely apologized—and actually made an attempt to make things right by telling the gang what they need to know to break the sleeping curse.  Good moment for all involved!
Henry uses his author pen for good, sending the EQ where she can get a fresh start.  I suppose that’s a good use of his pen, although it seemed to me to be playing semantics a bit for him to say he could manipulate her story because she wasn’t technically in his book.
Interesting ending for OQ…or rather the anti-OQ.  The fact that the Evil Queen and wish realm Robin meet in the Page 23 pub and have a chance to live out the story that Regina did not choose is absolutely not the way I could have foreseen their story ending up, but in a way it’s very fitting and kind of beautiful.  I doubt we’ll ever see them or their story again, which is quite the shame.
Now how about how things ended up for Regina?  I don’t dislike it as much as I originally thought I would when Robin first died.  I think there’s something almost…inspirational about what OUAT did here.  We’re so used to people’s happy endings being ending up with their True Love and living happily ever after, but in the real world that doesn’t always happen. Sometimes people lose the love of their lives.  So what message does a show about hope give to them if everyone is happy only with their significant other?  This storyline allowed Regina to grieve, truly grieve, but then move forward.  It allowed her to realize that, while she’ll always love Robin, she still has Henry and the rest of her family and friends. She’s found love, and that love has utterly transformed her.  She’s going to be alright, and it’s an inspirational message to anyone else out their who’s had a loved one pass away.  Things may look bleak and hopeless for a time, but there is healing.  There is living after loss.
Killian/CS
Well we CSers really got beaten over the head with the angst stick this episode didn’t we?  It hurt, but I maintain that it was a good hurt!  It was a hurt that will ultimately lead to healing.  (It was like…a festering wound that a doctor lances to drain the pus.  Painful at the time, but leading to healing, rather than further festering….sorry for that vivid image, lol.)
I loved what Nemo said to Killian at the beginning of the episode.  Nemo’s right.  Killian’s turned away from vengeance, but guilt also has the power to destroy him. My only issue was that I thought Nemo only gave one truly good solution: telling Emma and trying to make amends. His other suggestion—that Killian bury the secret but learn to forgive himself wouldn’t really solve the problem.
Killian, I love you. You know I do.  You’re my absolute favorite character.  But Killian…*facepalm*  Nemo gave you two pieces of advice: Tell Emma the truth or forgive yourself.  You did neither.  Putting your memories in a dreamcatcher (btw…don’t you need magic to even use those things?  How’d he manage it?) and then burning it was 100% the wrong way to go.
Obviously Emma’s reaction when she inadvertently witnessed what happened hurt, but I think it was exactly the right reaction under the circumstances.  I’m glad she wasn’t angry with him over what he did in the past; she knows he’s not that man anymore.  I’m glad that wasn’t the impetus of her frustration.  She’s absolutely right that he should have come to her.  He should have trusted her with his secret.  He should have leaned on her to help him figure out how to move forward.  That’s how a relationship works.  Now granted, she did much the same thing to him in 6a when she didn’t tell him about the prophecy, but she learned from that.  She learned how destructive keeping those secrets from your fiancé can be. She was right to insist he make the decision to be the man who trusts her, the man who isn’t so mired in his own guilt that he alienates her.  It hurt to see her give the ring back, but this will ultimately be a good thing! This will lead to a second proposal; one not overshadowed by a horrible secret.
Killian decides to go back to Nemo.  I think his intention was good here—he truly wanted to find a way to make himself a better person, the person that Emma needed and deserved.  He wanted to find a way to cleanse himself of his past faults. The execution, however?  Killian…running away again, and not even telling Emma? Not even close to the right way to handle things.
Quite possibly my favorite scene of the episode was the one between Snow and Hook on the docks.  Snow was so loving and motherly!  This is Snow White at her absolute best—spreading hope and love to those in her family.  I loved how accepting she was of Killian as her future son-in-law.  I loved how genuinely happy she was for him.  But even more than that, I loved that she managed to (inadvertently) say exactly what Killian needed to hear.  By telling him about what happened with Regina and the Evil Queen, Killian came to realize that his fate isn’t sealed.  He does have the ability to change his fate.  He may have made some terrible, terrible choices in the past, but he can make things right (to the best of his ability) now. You could literally see him coming to this conclusion, and it was beautiful!
And so Killian decides to do the right thing.  He boards Nemo’s vessel to tell him he won’t be sailing with him after all.  Rather, he’s going to go talk to Emma, show her he’s committed to their relationship and to truly trusting in her, he’s done with secrets.  We might have been on the way to that amazing proposal scene we’ve all been waiting for….
But then there’s Gideon. Interesting he’s committed to getting rid of Killian because he believes he can’t defeat Emma with Killian around. I’d say that says quite a lot about the strength of Emma’s and Killian’s love!  (And by the way…have I mentioned yet that Gideon is the literal worst?)
The end, seeing Emma wait for Killian by the front door and then finally turn out the light hurt!  Of course she thinks he abandoned her.  It’s her m.o.  For a few minutes she’s going to be devastated…but then she’s going to realize that something just doesn’t add up.  We’re heading into some amazing payoff!

Conversation
explaining to non-viewers what happened
Me: She [Regina] took out her [EQ's] heart
Me: After tying her to the wall with vines
Me: And we had these flashbacks going "the one Regina hates the MOST is HERSELF"
Me: So she looked in a shattered mirror and saw her face and she saw the EQ in tears and had a change of heart
Me: And then she took out her own heart and you know that app, Bump?
Me: where you can knock two iPhones together to transfer apps and shit
Me: she did the equivalent of that
Me: with hearts
Non-viewer: So she just... bumped hearts with her evil self.
Me: Yes. And we saw CGI red-black mixing
Me: and then Henry wrote Queenie to the wish world (where she'd previously sent Robin)
Me: and they lived happily ever after!

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: 6x14 Page 23
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay what episode do we have today?
Ah okay, a Regina centric. That’s cool.
Is that the same guard Snow stripped naked in 1x16? Whaaaat?! Just looked it up and it totally is! Awesome call back! I’m going to name him Jim.
Oh my God, she killed Jim!!
Wait, so this has to be after Heart of Darkness.
The terrified look on that woman’s face when Regina strokes her chin, looks at her longingly and tells her she loves her. Omg Regina was in love with this woman all along! It was never about Daniel. It was about Christina! I’m naming her Christina.
They are my otp now.
How did Tinker Bell get out of neverland? Pan decides when people leave, and I doubt he’d let her leave just to pay a visit with the Evil Queen. But then and again maybe it was all part of his big plan.
Oh. Pixie dust doesn’t dictate who your true love is. It just shows you possibilities. That’s not what you said before, Tinker Bell!
Regina, we all know you spared her because she’s your ex-girlfriend.
Actually, this visit from Tinker Bell is odd because she doesn’t seem angry at all like when she, like, wanted to kill Regina in 3x03. How did she go from, “okay. I lost my wings because of you but it’s all cool. I just want my otp together.” to “I’m gonna f***ing drug you with pixie dust and rip your heart out!”?
Also, this is the Evil Queen I like to see. So cold, terrifying and breaking on the inside. I’m not a fan of the humorous one in 6x02. I wish Split Queen was more like this as well. Ah different writers and director. Interesting.
Split Queen: “…not some burlap-loving peasant who sleeps on dirt.” Wish Robin: “Excuse me, I sleep on hay.” Important distinction!
Snow’s so excited about the wedding, bless her.
Lol Zelena just drags Emma’s hand to look at her ring. My girl loves shiny things! And how could I forget, her otp is getting married! She is in heaven right now!
I love Emma just casually talking to Zelena like they’re gal pals at a sleepover. More of this please!
I can see what sqers say about this scene. Regina really does look hurt by the notion of Emma getting married. There is no heterosexual reason for her to react like this unless she’s in love with Hook. I think this is the only time they hug. Man, I feel so bad for sqers because upon this rewatch I can really see where they are coming from with that interpretation. It’s definitely there. And then they hug because Emma’s getting married to someone else. I would be so upset if that was my otp. What am I talking about, I watched 10 seasons of Smallville as a hardcore Chloe x Clark shipper. I think this exact scenario played out and it freaking hurts!
In other news, I am so in love with Snow. Have I mentioned that? I feel like I haven’t mentioned it in a while and it needs to be said.
I’m also in love with David, in case you forgot. I want to join their marriage. Can I join their marriage? I’m joining their marriage. Emma, I’m your mummy now. Don’t think about the age difference too much.
I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate already today. Can you tell? I feel so alive! I want to share my social security number and be freeee!! I am trying to block out my anxiety about having to move house again next friday. Yep, that’s right, 4th place in two years. I think I will write all of these high on chocolate.
What would happen if you cut your hair with those sheers? Or your garden bush? No, that is not a euphemism, you dirty bastards (affectionate).
I haven’t had a haircut in 10 years. Holy cow! That’s why my afro is so big, it’s full of secrets.
Nemo is your dad now, Hook. Even though I’m pretty sure he’s a lot younger than you.
He called him “My boy.” hehe.
I remember when I thought Hook and Rumple had the same mother. That would have been quite the twist.
I thought that vase of flowers was a giant cauliflower. Did you know broccoli, cauliflower, cabbages, brussels sprouts and turnips are all related? I wonder what thanksgivings are like when they all get together. Probably not fun for them.
See what I did there xD?
Emma: “This is my fault. I’m the one who convinced you to bring him here. It’s on me.” Regina: “Emma, you don’t have anything to make up for. You were just trying to help.” Omg, this compared to when she told Emma she’d ruined her life because Emma saved Marian. The development. I really appreciate this change because I nearly lost it with Regina when that was her attitude.
Screw it, I’m making bean enchiladas. Brb. I’ll save you some!
I’m back! They’re in the oven. Anyone wants the recipe hmu! They’re veggie!
You just know Split Queen and Wish Robin have a sexy dungeon in their castle. They just do.
Enchanted ropes would have been useful in so many situations.
The enchiladas are ready! Repeat after me, Becky: “I will remember oven gloves this time, I will remember oven gloves this time.”
Robin is so into Split Queen. He wants her to live with him and everything, even though they just met.
I don’t think that arrow would have taken her to Robin since it takes her to the thing she loves most. She can’t love someone she’s never met. We all know it would shoot Christina right in the ass. That’s true love biatches! Evil Peasant 5ever!
Oh snap! Emma found Hook looking at himself killing her grandfather??! I completely forgot about this!
Why does she say, “That’s David’s father”? Why doesn’t she say, “That’s my grandfather,” or “That’s my dad’s dad”? She hasn’t called her dad ‘David’ in years. It’s like she’s trying to separate herself from the victim as much as possible.
She’s not even a little bit upset he killed her dad’s dad? That that event caused her father so much pain? She’s just infuriated that he tried to burn his memory. I mean, yes, she should be angry about that but where’s the empathy for her dad at least? I didn’t know any of my grandfathers well but if I found out I was engaged to someone who did that I would be angry for my grandparent, angry for my parent and angry for myself. I’m just speechless that that’s all she cares about. It seems so out of character. But then and again Regina had her other grandad killed.
And now he’s gonna leave because he rightfully got told off. Can’t say I’d offer the same thing but she said, “until you’re ready” not “you’ll never be ready”, dude.
I think he’s just scared David will punch him in the face at this point. It’s the only explanation for doing the exact opposite thing Emma asked of him.
“Captain Hook is always welcome on the Nautilus.” More like welcome on the naughty list after that stunt.
She doesn’t want a man, Henry Sr. She just confessed her deep, passionate, sexual love for Christina like 20 minutes ago, remember? Sometimes I wonder why I bother. It’s not even subtext, dude. Get it together, man.
Why don’t they fight themselves with magic?
Her dad is so heartbroken the person Regina hates most is herself.
That is really sad that the person she hates most his herself. I can relate.
Yes! Launch those apples at yourself!
My conversations with myself be like-
Oh boy. This is too reminiscent of conversations with myself. Yes, I sword fight myself wearing a fancy black, cleavage-revealing dress in my head all the time. Only joking, I wear trilby hats.
Oh okay. Now they’re tying each other up. I see what this is really about. I still haven’t bleached the “we do like it rough, don’t we Regina?” line from my mind.
I suppose she did take back some of her own darkness. But I was hoping she would just merge herself back together. That would have been a really predictable outcome, but I just would have preferred it.
This scene is so weird lol, but it helped me tremendously. I used to hate myself so, so much. You don’t even understand. It was like a violent hatred for myself for not fitting in and for every single little mistake I’d ever made. Then with a lot of self- healing and the help of this episode I began my journey into loving myself. I wrote on a sticky note “Love yourself. If the Evil Queen can do it, so can you.” and stuck it to my wall. Nothing I’ve done is comparable to what the Evil Queen has done and if she can learn to love herself, why can’t everyone else. Anyone who’s struggling with self-hatred, please take this episode to heart. You are worthy of love, most importantly from yourself. Any time you find yourself hating yourself just try to remember this scene and that the flipping Evil Queen of all people recognised the importance of self-love and didn’t give a damn what anyone else thought. She damn well gave herself a chance. I’ve heard a good technique is looking in the mirror and telling yourself what you love about you. Even if you’re not feeling it at first, you could get into the habit of it and your brain will start to accept those words as true. Because they are true.
Aww she sees the Charmings as her family.
Regina: “it did give me hope when I needed it most, and that is just as important.” Oh my God, preach the word Regina! Regina is preaching with fire today!
It’s like she’s having a therapy session with herself. I need to do that. I really do. Then I need to get actual therapy lol xD. But baby steps!
Okay. A loophole as to how he can change Split Queen’s story. You know what, at this point I’ve learnt just to go with it.
Can Snow and Zelena be best friends? Please. It’s literally all I want in life. And to join Snowing’s marriage. I’m not asking for much. I’ll talk about it in self-therapy.
Henry’s got Gideon’s haircut now. He wants to be cool like his uncle.
I want to look at myself with the love and adoration Regina looks at herself with. We should all get to that point where we look like we’re about to intensely make out with ourselves when we look in the mirror.
I know what they were doing with page 23. I just wish Split Queen had changed her outfit so it could have been exactly like the page illustration. But I don’t think it was meant to predict the future. It was just one of Isaac’s fanfictions, wasn’t it? Hmm. I think it was a mystery to him as well if I can remember correctly.
It’s nice that oq shippers got their ship in the end in one form.
Snow is just constantly high up to her eyeballs on hope, bless her.
Emma needs a dog. She seems like such a dog person.
Also, that enchilada was yumilicious, if I do say so myself.
