2 Years Ago, Mito.
???: Real lame, don’cha think?
???: He’s pathetic as a delinquent.
???: And equally pathetic when trying to play at being part of the Student Council.
???: …HAH?
???: We can’t seriously be tolerating this.
???: Probably.

Sakuya: What, no one’s here again?
Sakuya: We’ve successfully held our concert, and we’ve even pasted our posters up at the Music Education department, yet we don’t seem to be getting any new members.
Hayate: The people in music ed aren’t like those in general ed. We don’t exactly have the time to go parading around with such a suspiciously shady Orchestra.
Sakuya: If so… then what does that make you, exactly…?
Tomoharu: Hahaha. He does have a point.
⊳ Choice: It’s not anything to be joking about
Tomoharu: Pfft- Sorry. I do suppose it’s bad to joke about this, considering our situation.
⊳ Choice: You’re completely open to jibes
Tumblr media
Hayate: Wha- Is that how you treat someone who lends you a helping hand!?
Tomoharu: Hmm… But if that’s how it is, then I don’t think we’ll have much luck recruiting members in Seiso Academy.
Sakuya: Yeah. Maybe we should try appealing in a different place—
Tumblr media
Ginga: Oh, you’re all gathered?
Ginga: Ready to head out? Plum, natto and history-rich streets await us all!
Kazuma: Do you remember Hashizumi-sensei, from the Mito Symphony Orchestra, who was in attendance for our concert?
Kazuma: She has graciously offered to introduce us to a place where we can hold our future concerts if any.
Tomoharu: Eh? We’re going to hold our next concert in Mito?
Tumblr media
Sakuya: Isn’t that kinda far?
Ginga: Cease your chatter! Yeesh, you lot. For people who are aiming to go global, your worldview really is tiny!
Ginga: Isn’t Ibaraki just a moment away if you go by the Joban Expressway?
Hayate: Mito, huh? It would be great if we could get Osakabe-san to join us…
Hayate: He was the Trumpets’ leader from last year’s Starlight Orchestra.
Hayate: He won 4th place in the Brass Section of the Jr. Classical Music Concours just as he’d entered his first year in high school.
Hayate: We were in different sections, so I didn’t really get to interact much with him. But, he’s reliable and someone worthy of respect.
Ginga: Heh? He sounds like an amazing person. Alrighty then, let’s try our damndest to induct him into our ranks.
Tumblr media
Hayate: If he’s willing to join the Starlight Orchestra again, then…
Hayate: Maybe there’s some helping this misfit of a Starlight Orchestra, as well as how messy this room is.
Ginga: Huh?
Hayate: I’m talking about this sloppy mess in here— Empty cup noodle cups, pet bottles, and that barely standing mountain of papers just piled together in a heap.
Hayate: He’s also the Student Council President of his school, and very neat about things. I’m sure he’ll put the right to things here.
Hayate: I’m seeing a glimmer of hope here, (L/n).
Ginga: I, on the other hand, am absolutely horrified…
Sakuya: Well, it works out for you too, doesn’t it?
Tomoharu: If we have brass instrument players joining us, that’ll also mean that we’ll be able to play a wider variety of songs.
⊳ Choice: Let’s head out to Mito then!
Tumblr media
Tomoharu: Yes! It’s going to be fun, don’t you think, senpai?

Nono: You’re going to Mito? That’s brilliant~!
Nono: That place is a noted place of connection of a really amazing Orchestra Conductor from Berlin ♪

(pardon my bad cropping: it's been at least 8 years since I took a class on video editing and I can't figure out how to do it the way I want it)
When I saw this scene, it really got me thinking. At first I thought, "I never had any crushes on girls when I was younger. Discovering I was bisexual came out of nowhere." Or so I thought, until a few days ago.
I realized I was bisexual when I took a photography class my senior year of high school. My best friend was gay (so gay my mom could tell from across the street when we were 13), so it's not like I didn't know any queer people, but it just never really occurred to me that I could be queer too. Enter Purple-Haired Sarah. She had just moved to our town (I lived in one of those places the majority of people spend their entire childhood there), so I had just met her that year. She wasn't just pretty, but she (obviously) had purple hair and a fun style. If we had to work in pairs or groups, I wanted to be with her. Then one night I had a sexy dream about her. And that's when it clicked for me. Definitely a, "Well, guess I'm bi now." (There was a bit of experimentation with a friend of a friend to confirm, not that you necessarily need to do that)
But I really, truly thought I never had any crushes on other girls when I was younger. I saw this scene and thought, "Yeah, that was never me." I never had that urge to impress or desire to always be around certain friends- oh wait. Maybe I did.
My very first best friend was named Steph, or Steffy when we were younger. We met in second grade. I was always at her house or she was at mine (more often at hers because she had a computer and AOL so we could go in the chat rooms and do other online stuff in the early 90s). She used to live around the corner from me, but she moved a little bit away. Luckily, the school district let her and her brother still go to the same elementary school, but she did end up going to a different junior high/middle school (my district switched when we were in 8th grade, so we only spent 2 years at those schools). We also joined orchestra in 4th grade (violin for me, cello for her), though she didn't continue into JH/MS and I did. What was really interesting was that she facilitated in a crush I had on a boy who played viola (who eventually became a good friend in high school and we did make out a few times). I'd write him notes and she'd drop them in his viola case on her way to the cello section when we had rehearsals for the district wide Orchestra Festival. When we were younger, we both had a major love for the Baby-Sitters Club books. I remember one year I wanted us to dress as two of the characters for Halloween. She was supposed to be Kristy and I was Mary Anne (before her dad loosened up and let her wear things other than skirts and dresses). She didn't follow through with it though, and I was really upset about it.
I was really sad when Steph wasn't able to go to the same school as me for JH/MS. And when she went there, she really changed. TBH, I kinda did too, but I always was really disappointed that she changed so much. We were both big Hanson fans when they first were popular, but I never got into any of the other boy bands or pop artists of the late 90s/early 00s. She became really preppy and I was more punk/alternative (I went through a big Nirvana phase in 8th grade). It broke my heart that she wasn't my best friend anymore and we didn't have as much in common as we used to. We did go to the same high school and we were still friends, but it definitely wasn't the same. But I think the fact that I always wanted to hang out with her, was so disappointed when we weren't at the same school and that she changed so much might have been signs of an early crush (even if I was having crushes on boys at the same time).
The next one without a doubt (though I just thought of this yesterday) was my best friend Rachael. Rachael and I met in third grade and she was a part of my friend group with Steph. Later in elementary school, we were inseparable. She was definitely my best friend out of the friend group. In seventh grade, I spent a lot of time at her house. She even took me on a vacation with her family one summer. Unfortunately, in eighth grade she moved out to the county (IDK why my particular area uses the term "county" instead of "country," but that's just the local vernacular for the area west of the interstate). We stayed close friends, though. I still spent a lot of time at her house because my mom really liked her (not that she didn't like Steph) and as we got older, we got into similar music and clothing styles, unlike Steph. All through high school we spent a ton of time together, despite her being a 25 minute drive away (if that doesn't say something about how much I loved being with her, IDK what does). She was my partner in crime when I had a boyfriend my mom didn't like and she kind of a had thing with his friend too. We talked my grandma into taking us to see them, even though my mom forbade it. When I got a car, I would drive out to hang out with her all the time (and drive her and her boyfriend around and they'd make out in the backseat of my mid 80s Buick and I'd "accidentally" have to slam on the brakes so they'd go flying off the seat). We remained super close all through high school, despite not even being in the same school district. We went to local punk band concerts together, thrift shopped for fun random t-shirts from the kids section (that was kind of our style) and crushed on similar boys.
The only thing that was a bit of a problem with Rachael was when I came out as bisexual, it made her uncomfortable. Maybe she realized my feelings for her were more than platonic even though I didn't. I mean, there was always a lot of ass smacking and other silly things that could totally be seen as flirting, even though I didn't perceive it that way. But looking back, I totally see it now.
The last crush I didn't realize was a crush was the first one that got me thinking about this: Rhianon. I met Rhianon in seventh grade and she was just so cool, especially with such a cool name and I was boring Nicole V. Her parent let her dye fun color streaks in her dark hair and she wore such cool clothes. She was fairly popular, but not in a preppy way like it was in the late 90s. She didn't like boy bands or the other pop singers like Steph. She liked bands like No Doubt (she was very inspired by Gwen Stefani's fashion) and other alternative bands of the time. Honestly, she was kind of an inspiration. I wanted to be more like her. I wanted to be her. Maybe I just wanted her.
We were friends in high school because we still hung with the same crowd. I was definitely jealous of her: her confidence, her style, the boys she was able to date. I distinctly remember a local band show where she was dating one of the trombonist of one of the ska bands who I really like and I legit spent most of the show crying in the bathroom because seeing them all over each other made me so jealous. But was I jealous of her or was I jealous of him?
Tumblr media
I certainly wouldn't have thought so at the time, but looking back, it probably was.
I definitely remember her posting on LiveJournal after she went to college that she had joined a sorority. I actually commented on the post and said I was very disappointed that she had because that just wasn't the Rhianon I knew. One of her new friends replied and didn't understand why I felt so strongly about it. But sororities just weren't very Rhianon, if you asked me. She still remained pretty cool all this time, though. She got married a few years before I did and she wore this really cute almost sort of rockabilly shorter wedding dress with a birdcage veil. I would have loved to be able to pull off something like that (not that I didn't love my wedding dress, because I wouldn't change a thing about the way my wedding turned out, minus the way the arch got set up), but I've just never had the confidence she's always had.
Oh, and the interesting thing about my Rhianon crush I didn't realize was still definitely a crush: she often comments or reacts to my Facebook posts and I was super disappointed that she didn't go to our high school reunion. I would have loved to have seen her. And now I know why.
That a-ha moment is really interesting to think about. Needless to say, Nick's bisexual discovery has made a lot of us older bis realize we had some of those feelings earlier than we originally thought. Even me, who swore up and down it was just Purple-Haired Sarah during senior year that did it for me. The more I think about it, the more I realize she probably wasn't the first.

I suppose we could have gone with a Star Wars theme of some sort for tonight’s episode, but too much of that available elsewhere and besides, we never were much for SW anyway. You know who is though, my wife and she’s also a huge Royal Family aficionado, and has big plans this weekend around the Coronation of King Charles. So instead we are going to use that event as inspiration for tonight’s mix of great 60′s black soul, ska, blues and reggae from the UK. It made sense to us...

Help! The best one day album of all time
Help! The best one day album of all time On Monday the 4th September 1995, the charity War Child booked Brian Eno and a studio to record an album in a single day. All proceeds went to help the victims of the war in Bosnia/Serbia at the time. The album was mixed on Tuesday the 5thThe album was in shops by Saturday 9th, with no track listing - because they didn't know what artists or songs were going to be on it before the print deadline. The tracklisting was released in the music newspaper NME to help buyers understand what they were listening to. Which, for me, is one of the best compilation albums of all time, and for sure the best done in a day. Here it is, with my notesOasis and Friends – "Fade Away" – the friends are Kate Moss and Johnny Depp The Boo Radleys – "Oh Brother". The Stone Roses – "Love Spreads" – a bit of a rough mix but the piano makes it a unique version of a great song. Radiohead – "Lucky" – this is the first time anyone heard the song. OK computer was released the next year. Orbital – "Adnan". Portishead – "Mourning Air". Massive Attack – "Fake the Aroma" (alternate version of "Karmacoma")Suede – "Shipbuilding" – praise to Elvis Costello for writing this amazing song, but this version is, for me, definitively better sung and produced The Charlatans vs. The Chemical Brothers – "Time For Livin'". Stereo MCs – "Sweetest Truth (Show No Fear)“. Sinéad O'Connor – "Ode to Billie Joe" – possibly the highlight song. Was submitted past the deadline but it was too good to omit The Levellers – "Searchlights". Lol remember them? Manic Street Preachers – "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" – their first recording since Ritchie disappeared. Terrorvision – "Tom Petty Loves Veruca Salt". The One World Orchestra featuring The Massed Pipes and Drums of the Children's Free Revolutionary Volunteer Guards (aka The KLF) – "The Magnificent" – a remix of the Magnificent Seven theme tune. Amazing. Planet 4 Folk Quartet (aka Andrew Weatherall and David Harrow) – "Message to Crommie"Terry Hall and Salad – "Dream a Little Dream of Me"Neneh Cherry and Trout – "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 "Blur – "Eine kleine Lift Musik"The Smokin' Mojo Filters – "Come Together" – this is Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and others. Its literally a who's who of mid 90s music. Everyone who gave enough of a shit to give up a day to record a song was on it. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone just for the music. The charity aspect was a bonus but i can't understand why it didn't start a trend of artists doing low cost high quality charity records. Would love to know if anyone listens for the first time today, or has memories of this coming out. https://ift.tt/hpJv34u Submitted May 06, 2024 at 07:11AM by thecaseace https://ift.tt/cHOnGTa via /r/Music

Los Angeles, CA, high cost of living
Living in Los Angeles can be a challenging experience due to the city's high cost of living. The average rent in LA is over $2,700 per month, which is even higher than in New York and San Francisco. High housing costs, fuel prices, and the need for a vehicle all add up to the overall high expenses of living in LA. Furthermore, dining out, cocktails, and entertainment, such as movie tickets and concerts, are also expensive. However, the city's top venues and performers make it easier to bear the elevated expenses. If you are planning to move to LA and are searching for apartment rentals, you'll enjoy the perks that come with a pool, gym, and common areas for entertaining guests. So, it's a good idea to look for these amenities when searching for an apartment in LA.

Walt Disney Concert Hall
The Walt Disney Concert Hall, a 3.6-acre complex designed by Frank Gehry, houses the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presenting classical and contemporary music, international sounds, and jazz. The complex embodies the creative spirit of Los Angeles, thanks to the vision and generosity of Lillian Disney, the Disney family, and other donors. Southern California audiences enjoy the music of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and visiting artists and orchestras. The LA Phil, also located at Walt Disney Concert Hall, performs and presents an extensive array of music, offering live performances, media initiatives, and learning programs to inspire and strengthen communities.
LA Jewish survivors of shooting fear anti-Semitism
As the Israel-Hamas conflict intensifies, Los Angeles' Jewish community faces increased fears of anti-Semitic violence. This fear is not new, as some survivors of such incidents recall the 1999 attack in Granada Hills. The attack resulted in the death of one person and injuries to four children. The incident left survivors feeling raw and reliving past experiences of being targeted for their Jewish identity. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has been tumultuous for decades, but on October 7th, Hamas terrorists broke through the barrier at the border between Israel and Gaza, launching an unprecedented attack. Gunmen killed civilians in the street and kidnapped hostages, sometimes parading them in the streets. The fear of anti-Semitic violence is deeply affecting many.

omg you’re probably right about this being the last comeback before Shownu comes back. I hope there’s a little bit of a gap before the rest of the 93ers leave, I would love to see them have a comeback together before the next person leaves. Minhyuk has to go soon, but I’m pointedly not thinking about that, we’re gonna get another comeback with both of their vocals on it, I have to believe that. But did you see that one song is produced by Changkyun and Wooki???? I am LOOKING!
I like participating in celebrations, even if I don’t necessarily believe. Not barge in uninvited, of course, but I’m always delighted to be there, especially if there’s music. And my dad always makes this amazing date and chickpea dish on Christmas night that I would put up with anything for lmao.
Oh cool! So, do you help with, like, housing or job hunting or financial assistance or what? (or just everything) I know social workers who do emergency help and only work with clients for about a month, and some who do longer term work, what kind do you do? One of my besties is frustrated because they don’t let people “be political” at work, which limits how well she feels like she can help people, how have you been handling big political changes? And you can ask about my work, I wouldn’t give like the street address lmao but it’s not terribly interesting day-to-day.
He really is, we love a pretend vegan king. He’s got such amazing vocals, I can’t wait to hear them again. I’m not usually into ballads, but his voice hits different. He absolutely commands the stage in an easy, casual way, and yeah he has the benefit of being physically larger than a lot of idols, but he’s just so present on stage. No shade to the others, they’re fabulous performers as well, they just perform in a different way than Shownu showing up and just being, if that makes sense. Sorry, once I pick a sweet cheese rotten soldier good time boy I have to hype him up extensively.
Seonghwa’s literally just on another level. His stage presence is insane, his opening to “Guerilla” at Song Festival was just walking and yet he ATE. And his vocals? His register shifts are so good. He and San are two of the most interesting 4th gen singers imho. When will they get live mics smh we all heard San in the It’s Live performances of “Turbulence” like I will save this chord there will be no tritones on my watch and yet he’s stuck fighting the sound techs on stage even though he’s a dykon and doing the most for us lesbians. And Hongjoong is the definition of “standing 5’8, voice 6’5.” The whole Short King Anthem is about him, so small but so powerful and he knows it and thank god he uses it for good.
“God Damn” was just so much omg I could go on forever and I frequently do I have so many opinions. I didn’t love his most recent song as much, but I will take anythingggggg. Give me all the evil slut music you’ve got, Changkyun. I want to Cause Problems. I’m so excited for “Deny”, it’s going to be good, I can feel it in my bones. And his solo contract could be entirely back end and we see no difference, but it’s still cool that he’s negotiating better terms for himself.
You don’t really need to know much about the different techniques, I’ll nerd out about them in a heartbeat but don’t want to bore you. It was just really drilling down into it starting from the very basics. And yeah I used to sing, I always liked chamber choirs with tight harmonies best. Now I don’t sing except for myself and to belt along to the radio with my sister, these small-time producers and rappers don’t want to pay for vocalists, and I don’t do it for free if they’re gonna make money off it. And I rarely traveled for performances, but we’d play in new venues all the time, and feeling it out is ROUGH, especially in the orchestra…
We’re going to see my dad meet the Pope as part of this business trip. He doesn’t care if we’re there for that or not, but his partner is spiritually twisting our ear like “You saw a miracle, your father’s no longer in a wheelchair, you are GOING.” My boss is big mad I’m leaving for a week two months in a row, but I’m like dude I will take care of it, you won’t even miss me. This is like the one good thing about being hourly, let me have this!
Sewing is so cool, it must be gratifying to be able to use something you’ve made like that. Hoodies seem extra hard, but I believe in you! Every instrument has its challenges, I’m just overwhelmed by the idea of the two hands working separately, so I’m impressed. And no shame on playing fun music, I play kpop on the violin all the time, it’s literally just fun.
I’m taking notes on all your suggestions, btw. I’m very familiar with Seattle and somewhat familiar with Chicago, but not at all with Canada, I’ve only been to Vancouver once and that’s it. It sounds like you like going to cities more, is that right? I’ve traveled a lot, it’s been a priority in our family, especially since we’re so spread out. Dad loves travel and swore if he got out of the wheelchair he was going to travel even more, and I guess he’s somewhat fond of us and likes to bring us along on his business trips.
I hope your week is amazing and happy Hanukkah!
Hey love ❤️ happy almost Christmas!! Aw thanks 😊 are you excited for the festivities? Sorry for the late reply the week was a bit crazy with work and figuring stuff out but it’s going better now lol also got two days off next week so that’s a nice break from the hustle and the bustle lol hope your week went smoothly love!!
Right??? It’s a very exciting thing to think about lol but yeah they should do one last comeback as the 6 of them before minhyuk goes away for a bit but I’m sure he’ll be back before we know it lol bruh I was listening to that all week!!! Woooo boy 😂😂 it’s so good!!!! Idk how he does it every time but he slays lol wbu? What do you think about the song? Lol I am looking respectfully through my hands 😂 it’s hard to not look sometimes!!
Ooo that dish sounds delicious! Is it a usual holiday staple in your family? What other meals do you usually make around the holidays? I hope you have an amazing holiday season love ❤️
Yeah I help with making referrals to job programs for clients that want to work and give them forms to find homes and places that rent along other resources that they can use so it’s a nice time 👍 yeah that part of the job is tricky to avoid with some clients that want to trigger some political stuff with workers but sometimes it’s best to just move onto the next question 😂😂 it can also depend on what the client is there fire like sometimes it’s financial help like they just need a cheque to get by (which may or may not work because sometimes people like to use and abuse the system but we catch them eventually 😂) and the timeline is the same with my job where I get them set up for a month and then once a review comes up and things are resolved then send them on their way to a permanent assigned worker 👍👍 lol I don’t expect you to give the coordinates for the job location 😂😂 is it a tough business where you work? Like do you see a lot of things go down like fights or deals or drama with the customers? Have you had to put on the big boss shoes and say I’m here bitches? 😂 Not too sure what to ask but I’m so curious to find out info about your work!! Lol
Darn right we do!! We love a hella smexy part time vegan strong boy who is a total softie and just slapping us one minute with his visuals and vocals and then being a sweetie the next minute 😂😂 like how the hell does he do that? And I totally understand the lazlo reference (what we do in the shadows is amazing btw I’m obsessed with it) and I agree he is an amazing leader and just captures the mood of the group and leads them with ease and composure lol oh absolutely everyone in the group complements each other in their own way BUT we are shownu biased 100000% and I take responsibility for that fact lol
Bruh seongwha did more than ate he devoured the stage and everything else he does! Like you can tell he was meant to be on a stage and preform and be a total sweet cheese good time boy 😂😂 him and san are the mood bringers of the group tbh they create the atmosphere and the mood and get everyone lit and hype (mingi is another level though lol) he is definitely doing the most for the alphabet soup babies and that’s a fact he represents the mood and the team and it’s so true (and I’ve seen a lot of us wear his crop tops and edits and it’s a mood and I have to take a breath sometimes 😂😂😂) and Hongjoon is the definition of the short king anthem like you cannot go wrong with his vibe and energy lol btw you know what gets me- the eye contact that this man has (and you know which performance I’m talking about) is absolutely one of the hottest and scariest things I’ve witnessed on Instagram and Tumblr 😂😂
Lol!!!! Evil slut 😂😂😂😂 he is an evil slut! And yeah even if the song or solo stuff doesn’t work out then it’s gonna be good and it was worth the shot but holy shit he’s doing amazing stuff! ❤️❤️❤️
Lol your not gonna bore me love I am fascinated with new things! Bring on the ted talks and the vents! I am here for it ❤️❤️❤️that’s so cool that you sing!! Even if it’s for fun now it’s still an awesome thing to keep for yourself lol if anything it makes you unique ❤️
Really?? Your dads going to meet the pope? That’s so cool!! What kind of business trip is it? Agreed like let me have this time to myself and to spend time with the fam please l!! Lol
Aw thanks love ❤️ it took some time but it’s a fun project to work on (one handed or two lol) and for the sewing there a whole bunch of easy patterns to follow so that part won’t be difficult but it depends on the type of fabric to use lol oooo kpop on the violin sounds difficult but very impressive ❤️❤️
Lol! Aw nice!! I’m glad your excited to travel new places love ❤️ yeah I’ve been to my fair share of cities and what not lol but it would be fun to travel outside of the countries I know lol really? How far out is your family? Where are they all located now? How often do you travel? Now your dad is the definition of dedication 😂😂
Hope you have a great day love ❤️

Annual General Meeting
Chairman’s Report 2021-22
Annual General Meeting
                 5th September 2022
www.addlestonesingers.tumblr.com
We have come back after Covid to celebrate our 50th anniversary year in 2022.
On 7th May we were proud to be presented with a certificate in recognition of raising over £10,585.56
for Woking and Sam Beare Hospice.
Our May concert added an extra £540.95 to this total.
Rehearsals
It was wonderful to be back rehearsing together as Covid restrictions eased.  In September we continued to rehearse in the main hall at Addlestone Community Centre.  The Methodist Church was not open for the early part of our year.
Rehearsals ran
Monday 6th September to concert on 6th December
Monday 10th January to concert on 14th May
There were not sufficient members available to make a Summer singing session viable.  Our Musical Director ran 2 of her singers workshops locally for those who wanted to take part.
Our Monday rehearsals are from 8pm to 9.45pm with a break for refreshments.  From time to time we will have a ‘Bring and buy’ or sales of books, hats and other knitted items
Concerts
Our Christmas concert was held on Monday 6th December in Addlestone Community Centre with guest artists Chertsey Orchestra,  on behalf of Woking and Sam Beare Hospice.  It was lovely to see about 70 people in the audience,  so pleased to be back to live music after so long of being unable to do so.  We still observed social distancing guidance.
Thanks to Tesco for their donation of some mulled wine and mince pies.
Our 50th anniversary Spring concert was held on Saturday 14th May, again in the Community Centre with guest artists Chertsey Orchestra, where we sang songs chosen by the ladies.  Each member was wearing a golden brooch in the shape of a treble clef which had been presented to them the previous week to mark our 50th year.  We started the concert with the National Anthem in recognition of the forthcoming Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Singing at Other events
On 9th December some of us gathered round the piano at the Community Centre to lead audience singing of well known carols at an afternoon Tea party.
We also gathered round the piano at the Community Centre for the Jubilee Indoor street party on 4th June.
On both occasions there was enthusiastic singing from the audience.
We were unable to sing in Care Homes while Covid restrictions continued.
Social Events
As the year progressed and we were able to mix more socially, we held the following events
Cake and Quiz afternoon Tuesday 5th April
Picnic at Cowey Sale Monday 16th May
Sunday 24th July Cream tea at Sarah’s provided by herself and her husband.  Lovely afternoon!
See over for page 2
Musical Director and Pianist
Our Musical Director, Susan Higgins is in her 21st year with us.  We thank her for guiding and leading us through our musical journey.
We are lucky to have 2 Accompanists who were able to provide cover throughout the year, Janet Mannan in her 18th year with us and Tom Higgins who had supported us so well while we were singing on Zoom the previous year.
Membership
We continue to have a solid core of members.  Unfortunately not everyone was able to return having been unable to meet in person for well over a year.  Our membership for the Christmas session was  18 members, with 22 in the Spring term.
Unfortunately the lower membership has had an impact on our financial position, which will be reported by our Treasurer.
Committee
Our wonderful committee has continued to work tirelessly to meet all the challenges that have arisen and kept the choir together during what has been a very difficult 2 years for everyone.
Our helpers
If I mention anyone in particular I am bound to leave someone out.  Enough to say that we are so grateful to our friends and family members who support us in everything we do.
Membership of other groups
We continue to be affiliated to the Addlestone Community Association.  We will continue to attend meetings as they resume.  We continue to organise our Public Liability Insurance through a group of those who were previous members of the Runnymede Arts Association.
Addlestone Community Centre
Our thanks go to the team at the Centre for making us welcome and supporting our events throughout the year.
Music Library
Our music continues to be  located in the Methodist Church.
Repertoire
We have been fortunate to get together a good collection of music which has meant that it has not been necessary to buy new music.  This has been particularly valuable while we have all been getting used to singing back together again
Christmas 2021
50th anniversary    Spring 2021
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
A whole new world
Because of Him
Beauty and the Beast
Ding dong merrily on high
Bring me sunshine
Go tell it on the mountain
I could have danced all night
Joy to the world
I got rhythm
Santa Lucia
I know him so well
Shepherd’s pipe carol
I say a little prayer
Silent night
It’s a grand night for singing
Star Carol
Medley from Les Miserables
The Colours of Christmas
Thank you for the music
The Future
We have plenty to look forward to as we welcome new members.  We will continue celebrating our 50th anniversary year and look forward to  2023. More concerts, more raising money for charities, more social events.
Anne Edwards

On this day in music history…music, mind ya, not just rock, a lot of milestones on this date….
October 13th
2016 - Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, becoming the first songwriter to win the prestigious award. The 75-year-old rock legend received the prize "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".
2012 - Eric Clapton
An oil painting by the German artist Gerhard Richter which was owned by Eric Clapton sold for £21m ($34m) - an auction record for a work by a living artist. Clapton was set to give the money to the Crossroads Centre drug and alcohol rehabilitation center founded by the guitarist in Antigua.
2009 - Al Martino
Al Martino, a Pop crooner who scored over 10 hits including 'I Love You Because', 'Spanish Eyes' and 'I Love You More And More Every Day', died at the age of 82. He was often remembered for playing the Frank Sinatra type role of Johnny Fontane in The Godfather. Martino was at No.1 on the first ever UK pop chart published on 8th Nov 1952 by the New Musical Express.
2008 - Ringo Starr
In a video message on his website, Ringo Starr announced that he no longer has time to sign autographs and asked fans not to send him any mail at all. "No more fan mail and no objects to be signed. Nothing." After finishing a tour of the US and Canada, he was dividing his time between Los Angeles, the South of France and his UK home in Surrey.
1979 - The Police
'Reggatta De Blanc' the second album from The Police started a four-week run at No.1 in the UK. The album which features the band's first two No.1 hits, 'Message in a Bottle' and 'Walking on the Moon', cost only £6,000 to record.
1977 - The Orlons
32 year old Shirley Brickley of The Orlons was shot and killed by an intruder in her Philadelphia home. The Orlons had five US Top 20 hits in the 60’s including ‘The Wah Watusi’, ‘Don't Hang Up’ and ‘South Street’. The Orlons provided back-up vocals on Dee Dee Sharp's 1962 hit ‘Mashed Potato Time’ and Dee Dee Sharp's second hit, ‘Gravy (For My Mashed Potatoes)’.
1974 - Ed Sullivan
TV host Ed Sullivan died. Leader of the Ed Sullivan Singers and Orchestra. Introduced The Beatles and other UK acts to America via his Ed Sullivan TV show, from New York City, which ran from June 20, 1948 to June 6, 1971, on CBS every Sunday night at 8pm. The Beatles appearance on February 9th 1964 is considered a milestone in American pop culture and the beginning of the British Invasion in music. The broadcast drew an estimated 73 million viewers.
1973 - The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones started a four week run at No.1 on the US album chart with 'Goats Head Soup' the group's fourth US No.1.
1970 - Janis Joplin
Janis Joplin's ashes were scattered at Stinson Beach in Marin County, California. The singer had been found dead on the floor beside her bed at the Landmark Hotel in Hollywood California on 4th Oct. The official cause of death was an overdose of heroin, possibly combined with the effects of alcohol.
1965 - The Who
The Who recorded 'My Generation' at Pye studios, London. When released as a single it reached No.2 on the UK chart, held off the No.1 position by The Seekers 'The Carnival Is Over'. Roger Daltrey would later say that he stuttered the lyrics to try to fit them to the music. The BBC initially refused to play the song because it did not want to offend people who stutter.
1963 - The Beatles
The Beatles made their debut on ITV's 'Sunday Night at The London Palladium', topping the bill and transmitted live to an audience of 15 million viewers. They played, 'From Me To You', 'She Loves You', 'Twist and Shout' and 'I'll Get You.'
1962 - Don Everly

Wild the innocent and the e street shuffle
Tumblr media
The opening E Street Shuffle sets the tone, and gives way perfectly to 4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy), which eases along in its own way. Shane Reho: After a rather spotty (in my opinion) debut, Springsteen aims high and comes out with a masterpiece. That said, if someone asked me to name a song that sums up the energy, the bollocks and the sheer fun of rock music I'd be hard pressed to name a better song than Rosalita. Although I like a lot of his stuff I don't buy into the whole Landau "future of rock and roll thing about Springsteen. Incident on 57th Street lays the foundation of atmosphere and dynamics that would build Thunder Road and Jungleland.Īnd Rosalita? Entire careers have been pegged on songs half as good. It's maybe that striving that leaves me feeling this is an album that tried too hard at times. You can hear The Boss reaching for the heights he would scale on his next album. Because listening for the first time here and now in 2018 it's almost impossible not to hear it through the filter of what came after it. I'd love to go back in time to '73 and hear this album in its own right. B+." ( Robert Christgau (opens in new tab)) What you said The kind of album that will be fun to go back to if he ever gets it together enough to make us care. "The size and style of Springsteen's talent is suggested by the title, which I like, and this is very good in spurts, but it never coalesces. The truth is, The Wild, The Innocent & the E Street Shuffle is one of the greatest albums in the history of rock & roll." ( AllMusic (opens in new tab)) He would later make different albums, but he never made a better one. "The album's songs contain the best realization of Springsteen's poetic vision, which soon enough would be tarnished by disillusionment. While it may not have the same scope and grandeur of the album following it, Springsteen's mega-hit Born To Run, it contains more than ample doses of the lively spirit, youthful enthusiasm, and endearing optimism that made Bruce Springsteen not only a household name, but the epitome of the American experience." ( Sputnik Music (opens in new tab)) "The Wild, The Innocent, & The E-Street Shuffle is The Boss at his finest. Electric Light Orchestra - On the Third Day.Robert Fripp and Brian Eno - (No Pussyfooting).Mahavishnu Orchestra - Between Nothingness and Eternity.Bob Dylan - Dylan Outtakes recorded 1969–'70.Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery. The Beach Boys - The Beach Boys in Concert. But once upon a time, that story was told through the wide-eyed perspective of a 23-year-old kid with a dream and an innate understanding of the hugeness of life’s daily experiences, like the passion of young love, the celebration of relationships, the struggle for survival, and the fireworks on the fourth of July. With his next album, Bruce Springsteen would conquer the world, and he has been telling America’s story with vision and humanity ever since. He would also name his band after the album’s opening track (ironically, it was this album’s keyboardist, David Sancious, whose mother lived on the real E Street in Belmar, N.J., though Sancious would not become a true E Street band member). He would continue bringing Sandy and Rosalita to life hundreds of times on stage, making those two girls the most enduring elements of this album. Perhaps those trippy ’60s records had, indeed, inspired what was his most ambitious and experimental production work, but Bruce Springsteen’s Jersey and New York remained spiritually far away from Pepperland.īruce never returned to such grand pieces, but that was only appropriate to the story he was telling: As life got tougher for his protagonists, so did their stories, their songs. If “Incident on 57th Street” was “West Side Story” in eight minutes, this was “Midnight Cowboy” in 10. The climactic “New York City Serenade” takes rock and roll closer to both classical and jazz than any more ambitious rock opera ever has, doing so with strings and even more characters from the seedier underworld of urban life.

Alright Nerdy’s Shotgun Style Stream of Consciousness Thoughts(tm) on MoM under the cut
Firstly, shoutout to the girl I sat next to in the cinema. I never got to see her face bc of the lights but our elbows touched and we both laughed at the Bruce Campbell post credits scene. We connected. (for this Friends to Lovers arc I need her to be present at the second showing I booked at a different cinema I need that cosmic connection)
Genuinely shocked at how HARD they committed to Evil Milf Wanda. They made her a full on slasher villain and I fucking RESPECT it. (I have no idea how the fuck they’ll walk it back in the future movies but we’ll see. That Children’s Crusade movie rumor seems more likely now)
That moment where she crawled out of the gong like fucking Sadako??? GOOD SHIT.
Wanda Stans(tm) are going to be fucking INSUFFERABLE though. ‘omg she just wanted to see her kids uwu’ SHE MASS MURDERED INNOCENTS HELEN. SHE SNAPPED AN ELDERLY MAN’S NECK LIKE IT WAS A PRETZEL.
Speaking of, YO HOLY FUCK THEM USING THE X MEN: TAS THEME SONG?!?!?! DOING THE ‘To me, my X-Men!’ MIND WAVES???? Love the touch of putting Charles in his classic black turtleneck and walking when he’s in the Mind Place.
I SHOCKIGNLY enjoyed Anson Mount’s Black Bolt. Incredible costume adaption, would NOT mind if they retconned him into the MCU post Secret Wars. Dude’s a good actor and brings a certain weight to proceedings. Icb they got me praising Inhumans (not the show) in the year of our lord 2022.
Oh yeah they are 1000 percent doing 2015 Secret Wars. Get ready to be SICK of hearing the word ‘Incursion’ in the next few years. It’s gonna be the new ‘variant’.
Absolutely convinced they’re gonna use Secret Wars to retcon inhumans and mutants into the history of the MCU once its all said and done. They might fix Kamala yet lmfao.
Also Krasinski!Reed. Listen, I NEVER liked the fan-casting, they legit just fancast him bc he’s a white dude with hair and a blonde wife. ALL THAT BEING SAID.....I didn’t hate him??? He had a certain Stillness to him that I really dug. Nowhere near enough of a screentime to make any hard calls but seeing a dude in a blue jumpsuit with the number 4 on it does give me an emotion. If he ends up being the Main!Reed....I??? wouldn’t mind it???? Also LOVE the oblique Valeria and Franklin reference uwu. His suit is disgustingly overdesigned though, remove the black parts and its a good suit.
ALSO THE BRUTALITY???? WANDA POPPED HIS HEAD LIKE A FUCKING BALLOON??? BLACKAGAR BOLTAGON’S HEAD FUCKING CAVED IN?!??!! GOD DAMN THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!
LOVE the depiction of magic and sorcery. It really enriched the language of magic, I loved how Strange could conjure up arms and weapons and stuff. Love his updated costume with the sleeker lines and outline.
America was fine. Its her intro movie. I know people are upset that she’s not the Strong Willed Badass but MCU LOVES a ‘Hero finds their inner strength and will’ arc so I’m sure she’ll get there. Loved that moment of her doing The Pose.
Score was pretty good. Everyone is praising the Musical Note Fight and as they should honestly that was a GORGEOUS moment, ADORE the creativity of fights in this. Bummed that they don’t use the Giacchino theme enough but I’m glad it wasn’t entirety discarded. Also bummed about the lack of ‘mystical’ instrumentation, its just classic Elfman orchestra. Do love the main leitmotif that recurs through the movie though.
OK BUT THE RAIMI-ISMS??? They really Raimi get weird with it. The crossfades, the ‘monster cams’, the keyhole fade (is that the word idk). Bruce Campbell full on breaking the 4th wall. Nobody films New York like he does. It’s so warm, so lovely, so full of life. (also special shoutout to that shot of Amerca and Strange going through the portal from the roof to the street in one camera move).
CLEAAAA. GOOD MILF TO RIVAL THE EVIL MILF LETS GOOOO.
