Van mijn oma wist ik dat haar vader in Soerabaia woonde aan de oostkust van Java en zij met haar moeder in het Preangergebergte in de stad Bandoeng eveneens op Java. En ik zou eigenlijk doorgaan tot aan Hauptbahnhof, maar in Spandau vond ik dat ik genoeg getreind had. Ik verlangde naar de boulevarden, en de verschillende en verrassende stadsdelen, dus stapte ik op het voorlaatste station uit. Vooral om door Frohnau te fietsen vond ik erg leuk. In de tijd van de gedeelde stad, was dit de französchische Sektor, sommigen straten heten hier nog steeds Rue...., Het blijkt een mooie oude villawijk te zijn, die in de Koude Oorlog bijna geheel omgeven werd door de DDR. De Fransen hebben er nog een weg aangelegd naar andere ‘Westerse’ stadsgedeelten, zodat het nog enigzins bereikbaar was. Zo gaat dat bijna altijd in Berlijn, je bent er nauwelijks of de geschiedenis is onontbeerlijk en voelbaar, aber dafür komme ich auch so gern in Berlin.
