The priority nursing diagnoses for the child with a fractured left femur and mild head injury are acute pain and head injury. A nurse needs to thoroughly examine this child’s whole body to identify regions of discomfort or soreness, crepitus, deformity, loss of function, and the position and quality of pulses and ascertain the neurovascular condition of the limb (Haimes & Blankstein, 2019). For a patient with a fracture, acute pain is the most appropriate nursing diagnostic. The GCS is performed after a thorough evaluation of the patient’s condition, which includes ensuring the safety of the patient’s airway, breathing, and blood circulation after a head injury. Dietary and physiotherapy nursing interventions are given priority after being transferred from ICU. Providing a healthy diet helps bone repair and keeps the patient’s weight-bearable to restrictions due to the injured limb. The patient should be helped to ensure the safe use of mobility aids and assistive gadgets. The child will require retaining his airway is clear and ensuring enough breathing while at rest ((Haimes & Blankstein, 2019). Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring may also be necessary in the child’s case as it may assist in preventing more secondary injuries (by recognizing and treating hypoxia, hypercapnia, or hypoperfusion). The risks of Foley catheter placement include urinary infections, bladder spasms, and urethra damage. Using a urinary catheter, such as an indwelling Foley catheter, increases the risk of infection. Urinary tract infections may result from placing a Foley catheter (Saifullah et al., 2020). Epididymitis and orchitis are both possible complications of urinary infection in men. The placement can also cause additional issues, such as bladder spasms (similar to stomach pains), obstructions, leaks, and urethra damage. Patients who are unconscious or have serious issues that prevent them from moving can have an indwelling catheter inserted to drain urine into a bag linked to a leg and emptied through a tap at the bottom. After being discharged from the Intensive Care Unit, the patient does not need an indwelling Foley catheter. The patient’s muscles will need to be strengthened and loosened up through physical therapy. It is common for patients to begin walking with the aid of a physical therapist within the first few days following an accident or operation. Hence, the child does not need an indwelling Foley catheter, and his chances of full recovery can be increased through regular activities. May Week 2: The Planets
Hello witches! Let’s dive in to this week with some positivity, cause it’s gonna be packed! This week is all about the planets! Their movements, their placements in astrology, what they symbolize, and how they can influence us and our magic! Each of the days this week will encompass multiple planets, and you’re free to make a single page for each one, and add the overall chat and list to your general astrology page!
So let’s open with the origin of planetary correspondences! Look up the astronomer Agrippa, and his insight and all he did for modern concepts and ideas regarding planetary correspondences. Are there other astronomers or scientists through the years who have helped and added to these?
Monday: Mercury, Venus, Earth
Research/ New Page(s)-  Alright these prompts are gonna be packed with research, so buckle up friends. Look up the science of each planet, their chemical makeup, physical properties, colors, their orbit times and rotation times, how many moons they have. Now think in the metaphysical, magical, mythical and astrological aspects. Are these planets related to any deity? What role do these planets play in astrology?  What types of magic, myths, legends, stories are associated with this planet? What is the planet named for? What does this planet represent within your beliefs and practice? What is your personal relation to this planet? Are there herbs, stones, tools, or other things that are typically associated with this planet? What, if any, are the negative aspects of the planets (scientific, magical, and myth and legend)? What does each planetary house represent?
Meditation/ Journal- If you haven’t done so already in the earlier prompts where it was mentioned, look up your natal chart and all of your planetary placements. Meditate on all of your placements and planetary connections. Look deep, do you feel these are all accurate representations of the various aspects of yourself?
Practical- After each day, look up at the sky and look for each planet! But Basil, how do I do that? Well my friends... there’s an app for that! (or if you don’t have a smart phone or tablet, just enjoy this website. The app is called Night Sky and it shows a great deal about the planets, constellations, and lets you look through VR/ AR where they are.
Tuesday: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn
Meditation/ Journal- Think about the planets, the way they move, how and why they represent what they do, do you connect more strongly with one planet or another? What is it and why?
Practical- Once again, with or without the app or website, just go look at the sky. Appreciate your place in it all. Your connection to it all. All those lights you see are MILLIONS of miles away, yet even from that distance we can see them. How does that make you feel? Add to your pages! Draw or sketch the planets, their symbols, anything that relates to that planet!
Wednesday: Jupiter, Saturn
Research/ New Page(s)-  Alright these prompts are gonna be packed with research, so buckle up friends. Look up the science of each planet, their chemical makeup, physical properties, colors, their orbit times and rotation times, how many moons they have. Now think in the metaphysical, magical, mythical and astrological aspects. Are these planets related to any deity? Are there herbs, stones, tools, or other things that are typically associated with this planet?  What, if any, are the negative aspects of the planets (scientific, magical, and myth and legend)?  What does each planetary house represent?
Practical- Again, look up! Magic is everywhere. We’re as connected to the planet we’re on as to the ones so far away. Today, think about any of the planets. If you work with them in your craft, write a chant or invocation to ask for a specific planet’s aid in your working.
Thursday: Uranus, Neptune
Research/ New Page(s)-  Alright these prompts are gonna be packed with research, so buckle up friends. Look up the science of each planet, their chemical makeup, physical properties, colors, their orbit times and rotation times, how many moons they have. Now think in the metaphysical, magical, mythical and astrological aspects. Are these planets related to any deity? What role do these planets play in astrology?  What types of magic, myths, legends, stories are associated with this planet? What is the planet named for? Are there herbs, stones, tools, or other things that are typically associated with this planet?  What, if any, are the negative aspects of the planets (scientific, magical, and myth and legend)?  What does each planetary house represent?
Practical/ Journal- STARE AT THE SKY! If you live in a place with too much light pollution, take a walk, or a drive. Go somewhere safe where there is no smog or cloud cover, or light pollution and you can just really look at the sky. Just breathe deep, slow, even breathes. Relax. Let the starlight, the moonlight, the planets and everything out there feed your soul. After you do this, journal about it. Think about ways to incorporate the planets and stars and everything into your practice.
Friday: Pluto (Planetary wrap up)
Research/ New Page(s)-  Alright these prompts are gonna be packed with research, so buckle up friends.
Research- If there’s anything else you can think of to add to any of the pages for any of the planets, look it up! Research as much as possible! Animal associations, historical facts, pictures, anything! The more you know, the better your connection to the planet. Look into the movements of the planets in relation to each other and how they might effect one another, both physically or metaphorically. How do the various planets interact, through their myths and legends, physicality or even just in relation to each other in an astrological sense. How do they influence each other, as they influence us? How do they work in conjunction? How do the planets relate to the zodiac signs?
Whew! That’s a lot. But hey, there’s a lot to learn about the planets in any sense that you begin researching them in. There’s more out there, in space magic and in astrology and we will be looking into those in later weeks!
Good luck and Happy Casting Witches!

Camila Cabello: Pap Pics and Stunting, a Year in Review
This chronicles most (if not all) of the instances where Camila was publicly papped from January 2018 - February 2019 (time of publication). This does not include any fan pictures or those from social media (i.e. Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
Prior to 2018, Camila has only truly been papped a handful of times. However, the frequency in which she has been snapped has grown significantly compared to the previous 6 years (2012-17) she has been in the industry.
(Note: The pap pics in 2018 began to surface in February, weeks after her debut album was released).
* = Days CC and MH are photographed together.

The photos were snapped with photo credits given to Backgrid, a known celebrity pap agency or "celebrity news agency" as they call themselves. Backgrid has also snapped pictures of a number of other celebrities in Cabo in 2018 as well including Scott Disick, Guiliana Rancic, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ciara, and Heidi Klum which were all published in gossip magazines/sites (i.e. US Weekly, OK, & E!News).

The Rundown:
Total photo credits (21): Backgrid (16), X17online (4; first airport photos of CC and MH, 4 airport videos, all at LAX), SplashNews/SplashNewsOnline (3), Bauer-Griffin (2), Getty Images, starflyz, GC Images, The Image Direct, Eammon and James Clarke, and INSTAR.
Backgrid was credited for 16/21 of the days CC was papped from 2018 - February 2019.
The 5 days Backgrid was not given credit for any photos occurred between February 1st, 2018 - June 8th, 2018, from then through February 2019 Backgrid has had photo credits on every day CC has been papped.
7/21 of the days CC was photographed were in airports, of those 5/7 occurred at LAX. (Note: Despite frequent travels to NYC and Miami CC has not been papped once in 2018 flying into or out of JFK, LaGuardia, or MIA. In fact, the last time she appears to have been papped at any of these airports was LaGuardia in December 2014 with Dinah.)
Backgrid was the only ones who got pictures of CC 11/21 of the days and of those 5/11 included MH.
Backgrid was also given credit for 8/9 of the couple photos.
Also worth mentioning: 10/21 days CC was seen with a family member. 5/10 of those days also included MH, 4 were from June 25th, 2018 - October 2nd, 2018 and were the only 4 days CC was papped during that time period.
The news sites which consistently publish photos are the Daily Mail and Just Jared/Just Jared Jr with special recognition to E!News, rarely do other sites publish any photos.
Bonus link: Taylor Swift has also given exclusives to certain pap agencies for her PR relationships/bearding stunts. Namely The Image Direct for Hiddleston and Backgrid currently with Alwyn. Worth noting that CC and Taylor are friends and former tour mates.

November 24, 2019, the most magical day of my life. ❤
Okay! Hard part is over! 😛 I don’t really like being the center of attention and all. You might say it’s the same since everyone will still be looking at us the entire time. But, with the other half, the reception — people are more relaxed. Everyone will be dancing, talking to each other, singing and eating their hearts out! So, less judging and critical eyes on us. 😀
Our Reception was held at Aquila Crystal Palace. It’s about 30 – 40 minutes from our Ceremony. We had time to relax and just talk to each other in the car on the way there. Mind you, we were still with our bride & groom assistants.
To give you a preview – here’s what it looked like. ❤
BUT BUT BUT! Before we get to that, let’s go back to the start. Shall we? While we were taking our post-nup pictorial, we prepared welcome snacks and drinks for our guests!
Our supplier for this Gabrielle’s Appetizer. We prepared 200 mini sandwiches (cucumber & kani, chicken salad, tuna salad, egg & bacon), 150 mini burgers (chicken and beef), 200 crostinis (gorgonzola bacon, goat cheese & fig ham, prosciutto & brie, smoked salmon) and 2 gallons of cucumber lemonade
I’m so happy to be hearing good feedback from our guests! Their favorites? the mini burgers! But before they can eat, they will pass by our Signages!
I’m proud to say that I designed all the layouts, with the help of my husband, of course. ❤ We decided to maintain the theme of our invitation – White Marble is such a classic and classy design. Aside from the welcome signage, I wanted to add a little extra! – An Infographic of our love story. ❤
While others are eating or taking a photo in our photobooth, we also prepared some games before everything starts!
I personally created a Word Search Game with Startbucks GC for their prizes! I devised a personalized puzzle with words that have roles or connected to our relationship. For instance – Management Trainee (we were both Management Trainees in a bank. This is how we met) 😀 Everything is so much more special when it is personalized. Do you agree?
Before they officially enter the reception area, I also insisted that I wanted a signage for their Seating Arrangement:
I’m definitely proud of this! I’m a huge, huge fan of F.R.I.E.N.D.S! I insisted to insert the friends theme in our seating arrangement! The heading is The One Where We got Married (just like how all their titles are worded). ❤ I also named our tables with all the memorable lines / quirks of the series such as Pivot, Big Fat Goalie, How you Doin and etc.
I also asked our host to ask our guests whether they know what theme our seating arrangement is. I prepared a FRIENDS themed prize also, which I bought online (a Friends Door Keychain).
The One thing that will welcome our guests upon entering the place is our Animated Monogram.
At first, I wanted a White Background with Gold font for our names. But our coordinator pointed out that I may not be seen if the background is also white. 😛 So, we decided to switch to Dark Green, still in line with our theme. ❤
Okay! So when we arrived at the scene, it’s time for our make-up retouch and time to fill our stomach with the incredible feast we chose for our guest. ❤ It was really delicious. While we were having our early dinner, there’s another game inside the reception: TRIVIA GAME where we gave out bags of chocolates for every correct answer. Some of the questions were: First movie together, Who said I love you first, Term of Enderament, Favorite Series Marathon food. (Some of the answers to the questions were posted in our Infographic) 😀 Clever. Huh?
Initally, we wanted the Fireworks at the end of the program. But we were also hesitant to schedule it after since it was Sunday and our guests might leave early.
Proven! Guests really do enjoy the fireworks! It also elevates your event! ❤ After the fireworks, guests were asked to return to their seats for the Grand Entrance. 😛
Our Bridal Squad were introduced in the tune of Dura by Daddy Yankee. while our Groom Squad danced to Boneless by Steve Aoki.
As you can see, our male squad is definitely more coordinated with Matt Stefanina dance moves. Hence, they won the challenge of who’s better. 😛
Followed by the entrance of our esteemed entourage, our Prenup / Save the Date Video was shown to all of our guests.
And our Grand Entrance in the tune of Good Life by One Republic, inspired by our Wedding Hashtag of #itsJANNAbeaJUDElife transalated as It’s gonna be a good life.
TIP: Please please be witty enough to think of your own wedding hashtags! One, it’s simply fun. Two, it will encourage your guests to use your hashtag. Three, you’ll have an easier time in collating pictures and videos related to your event if it’s clear that YOU are the only ones using it instead of #JudeandJannaforever or #JudeandJanna2019. Maximize the power of hashtag!
For our Grand Entrance, we decided to use our Indoor Fireworks (which is not shown in the photo) plus this heart shaped confetti free of charge from our Coordinator. ❤
Followed quickly by our entrance, we gave a bit of our opening remarks to our family, friends and loved ones who celebrated with us.
Our first ever dance as a married couple is in the tune of Say you won’t let go by James Arthur. 🙂  This is also the song I was singing to when he proposed. ❤ This song is really special. ❤ Again, there were Indoor Fireworks and confetti as well.
Wedding Traditions followed such as Cake Cutting and Wine Toasting!
Our 3 tier carrot cake is designed with pure white with gold highlights with huge floral appliques. It’s so good! I’m actually sad that we forgot that it was in our ref.
The wine that we toasted is free from our package with Aquila Crystal Palace. If I remember it correctly, it was not hard because I finished it instantly. ❤
My sister, one  of the Matrons of Honor started the speech followed by my Brother in law and finally, my Best friend ended the speeches by inviting everyone to offer a toast for our marriage. ❤
After the long speeches, it’s time for the most awaited time of our guests! Dinner time. ❤ The cousins of my groom, Seth and Yohan led the prayer.
While the guests were eating or in line to get their food, some of the music that we chose to be played are the following: The way you look tonight, Collide, The last time, if I ain’t got you, Everything, Perfect and Close to you among others.
Well, you know how this goes already. . .  . . before they can even line up to the buffet, they all have to take a picture with us. ❤ Here are some of them.
While eating, another batch of Speeches coming from our Principal Sponsors.
Principal Sponsor speeches! We had to choose one from each of our side. My God mother, sister of my father gave a speech while it was a Family friend from the Groom’s side. After the speeches, a couple of games again — which is the second best game! Minute to Win It – Wedding edition. ❤
So we filmed a one time, one shot games of: Segregate it, Pingpong Ball, Shoot the Ball etc. Each table have to guess who won whether it’s the Bride and the Groom! Everyone turned out to be competitive at this part. ❤
After an interactive game, it’s the Parent Dances!
We decided to dance simultaneously to the tune of You are so Beautiful by Joe Cocker. 😀 I was scaring my dad and reminding him of their speech! 😛 while I think my mother in law is having the best time dancing with his son. ❤
After a bit serious of dances, it’s fuckin time for another game! Another game? We can never miss out on Single’s Game! To get the suspicion out of their minds, our host called them like they are about to receive a prize.
Men are lined up in front – a music is played and whoever dances the right move first gets to seat down! The following music were played – Watch me whip, Soulja Boy, Teach me How to Dougie, Gangnam, Level Up, Stayin Alive, Thriller and Can’t Touch this.
Then whoever doesn’t dance, will remain in front and the ladies will start searching for the safety pin. The lady who doesn’t find a single pin, loses. ❤
The losers  of both games, or rather the last man and woman standing wins a Starbucks GC which they can use to go on their ‘date’ – a little matchmaker doesn’t lose its touch on weddings!
It’s my husband’s colleague and one of my closes high school friend! ❤ And after this fun game, our host now calls on both of our parent’s for the wise words.
It’s the Welcome to the Family speech! It’s such a cliche but really overwhelming. It warms your heart, right? I felt really happy to hear it goes both ways. ❤ I have no better way of saying this but it felt really good.
Before the night is over, we prepared some awards to be given to our guests.
Cool Tito Award (right picture) and Fab Tita Award where we award the Best Dressed one – we gave them Wine and a Tefal Pan. ❤ We also awarded Dressed to Kill (Upper Right) for the Best Dressed Millenial and we gave them a 6-pack beers and a Make Up Kit.  Lastly, we gave out a Grand Prize (Lower Right) for the best picture and handed them a powerbank.
Then we played our On Site Photo and our Save the Date Video. ❤
Look at our faces!! ❤ Our Photo Team is led by TJ of Timoteo Photo and our SDE was created by Mac by Stories by Supermac! Extremely in awe, hearts bursting with joy and overwhelmed with gratitude and love. ❤
Before our night ends, we said our Thank yous and invited them for a night full of dancing and drinking!
Look at our ceiling treatment filled with an all white embellishments and gold highlights and black draping to make our ceiling pop out! ❤
The night ends as mentioned, with drinking and dancing! ❤ ❤ ❤
Our last picture before our guests go back to Manila! First up, my colleagues!
My brother and his girlfriend before they fled out of the scene. 😛 Haha. Next? Our Wedding Buddies, one week apart and now, we’re all married. ❤
I always come in threes, Don’t I? And Of course, My Bestfriends since High School.
It always put a smile on my face when I see my friends from different groups come together like this. 🙂
And before this day ends, I need a picture with my husband. ❤
I love you so much, husband! ❤ ❤ It’s been five months and it’s still the Best Day of My Life. ❤
EVERYDAY: Our Wedding (Reception) November 24, 2019, the most magical day of my life. ❤ Okay! Hard part is over! 😛 I don't really like being the center of attention and all.

What's Going On With (former) Gold Crush?
Tumblr media
It seems like a beloved group has disbanded before they've hit a year together.
Gold Crush, first girl group to company MoonSims Entertainment, had officially announced that they would go separate ways and that was the end of it all. But now on the anniversary of the group's debut date it was announced that a new group would be debuting sometime this year.
Netisims found this to be quiet suspicious as the company had announced they weren't debuting anymore groups at the start of the year.
Could this be 24k G's beloved Gold Crush? A theory about the name, AgAu, being two chemicals from the periodic table has been going around since the release of the name and banner. Logically it seems more believable that this might be Gold Crush part 2.
The theory was Ag being the symbol to the chemical element Silver, and Au being the symbol to the element Gold.
Though seeing, former GC member, Blanca's instagram posts, netsims and fans feel like the original members may not be apart of this new group.
On May 3rd of 2019, she posted a photo of her with familiar faces Eom Renee (Promise), and Sunny (SOONA) with the caption "Trying something~" (deleted post) . Fans voiced slightly negative opinions over this however, but that didn't stop blanca who respectfully responded to a few comments herself calming down the irritation.
What's do you think will happen?

[+800, -37] I think this is Gold Crush? Just with a different name. I think it’s stupid to disband a group fully instead of just saying “Hey, we are changing the name.” But then again the CEO’s over there were never the brightest.
[+726, -114] Renee’s only group is Promise even she has confirmed this and XX’s Minji posted the same photo with Blanca unnie so this assumption is a little... I don't know stupid? It’s probably just a project
[+1555, -256] I never thought CEO moon would disband the one debuted group he had? This doesn’t exactly add up. Or maybe I’m just hurt that my favorite group disbanded two weeks before they hit a year together.
[+1443, -787] How do you announce you’re not making any new groups and then drop a new group??
[+888, -434] Gold Crush is old news. Hiberry has a new group coming soon named 2WHOM and I’m sure they’ll be a lot fresher than whatever sh*t K-sims decides to drop.
[+675, -234] I’m truly hoping this is just a way to remake Blanca, Honey, Min, and Dani as a whole.

spreading the love into 2019
hi guys! i hear end-of-year summaries are in right about now, so i’m taking advantage of the opportunity to do what i do best: compliment the people i love. let’s get into it!
the harrie gc
you bitches are incredible. thank you for being a safe space to scream about harry styles - you’ve made spending hours on my phone so much more fun.
@fleeetwood @desiharrie @harrymemes @mmithharry @loafersharry @harrysnotontour
my biggest fans
thank you guys for following me, and for putting up with my daily bullshit even more than normal people do. i love you. xoxo
@jillcalt @harryistherealdeal @harryseyebrows @harriemx
special shout-outs
@faithmp3 - beck, baby, what can i say. thank you for being my go-to whenever i need to scream about 3 words that taylor swift wrote down one time, and for somehow understanding the way my mind works. liam payne is stupid and mitch rowland is hot and you and i share the same brain cell. stream eyelids. i luv u bb.
@harrymemes - anna, you rb so many of the ill-advised posts that i make at 2 am, and i can’t help but love you for it. thank you for supporting me in my insanity, and for promoting the mitch archive like a fucking boss. you’re a joy in the gc and in my life. <3 times a million.
@saturn-styles - MARLEEEEE. i don’t even know where to start. you’re such a talented artist (in all sorts of media!), but you’re also a wonderful friend - always there to listen to me, and to send hot selfies, and to write angsty hitch headcanons that i’ll be thinking about for weeks. i loved the fics you sent me, and i’m hoping for more in the coming year (wink, nudge!). love you lots and lots.
@fleeetwood - AVA, YOU SEXY MOTHERFUCKER. i’m so happy we (virtually) met. your confidence and charm, plus your extensive knowledge of harry styles ephemera, make you an amazing person and a great friend. it’s been an honour to read your writing this year, and i can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. big love.
@vondrostes - we only recently started talking, but i’m so glad we did! your writing is absolutely incredible, and always such a joy to read. also, thank you for agreeing to run the hitch guitarchive with me! here’s to expanding that a bit in 2019, and for more canon harry/katsu content (the ship i never knew i needed). have an amazing year. <3
@fleetwooded - QUINN!!! queen of putting up with me!!! thank you for sending me sexy pics (of the vancouver coastline), yelling with me about the mitch rowland psyche, and being so much fun to talk to. i know i said this before, and i know i sounded insane and slightly creepy, but i mean it now just as much as i did then: you’re destined for great things. i am so ridiculously excited to read your fic. love you more than honeybabe.mp3.
@ferryboatpeak - la, you’re a wonder. i’ve been reading your fic for as long as i’ve been in the harry fandom, and i’ve never, ever been disappointed. your digressions into obscure, cracky pairings are endlessly fascinating (i think about that zigi queer eye demon fic, like, every day of my life), and it’s always so fun to yell about new mitch info with you. road trip to town pizza in 2019, yes/yes?
@cuthburga - happy new year, nerd. hanging out with you is always a great time, even though i always choose the blandest imaginable things for us to do. you have terrible taste in music, but i love you anyway. stay hydrated and enjoy your nye.
@yessoupy - i love your fic a whole fucking lot, but i may be a bigger fan of your harry styles pastoral poetry. talking about latin is one of my all-time favourite pastimes, and i really enjoyed discussing noun cases with you. felicem novum annum tibi ago!
@darkness-aint-fun-4ever - of course you’re on this list, gabby. even though we’ve only been talking for a short time, i feel really lucky to have gotten to know you - with your beautiful poetry, your enviable hair, and your dreams to change the world. i hope 2019 brings you happiness and growth, and that you get to go to all the open mics you want. sending all my love.
i feel so lucky to have met or spoken to every single one of you. you’re all important as hell to me.
all the positive vibes for 2019! i feel like it’s going to be a great year.

annual writing self-evaluation 2018
thank you @lululawrence for tagging me!! also i know nobody even really reads these things but i like to do them for my own reference year to year so if you’re actually interested in my answers they’ll all be below the cut!!
ALL FICS MUST HAVE POSTED ON AO3 IN 2018
1. Number of stories (including drabbles) posted to AO3: 7
2. Word count posted for the year: 231,933
3. List of works published this year (in order of posting):
thrills don’t come for free (feb. 1)
keep this love in a photograph (apr. 16)
it ain’t right, but isn’t it amazing (may 5)
there are no atheists in foxholes (june 12)
sugar in a plum (july 24)
satellite (oct. 5)
what’s inside your imagination (is as real as anything else) (oct. 20)
4. Fandoms I wrote for: one direction
5. Pairings:  harry/louis
6. Story with the most:
Kudos: satellite (556)
Bookmarks: satellite (441)
Comments: satellite (53)
9. Work I’m most proud of (and why):
satellite, without a doubt. that fic took every ounce of my heart and soul and was absolutely worth every second i spent on it. i’ve never written something that took a mind of it’s own like that fic did, and it was so fun to be able to use myself as the mouthpiece for that story to tell itself.
10. Work I’m least proud of (and why):
probably thrills don’t come for free, only because it was something i wrote years and years ago and let sit in a folder for a rainy day, and i only posted it because i felt like i needed to get something up to remain relevant. that’s definitely a mindset i’m planning to leave in 2018 and i’m learning how to write and post for me and me only, which is a cool place to be in.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
from satellite (bc it’s freshest in my mind and this was the first thing that came to mind when i saw this question):
“If you’d told me a year ago that I’d spend the next year sleeping in the same place every single night, I’d have told you the only way that was possible was if I was in the ground,” he says. “People like me don’t get things like this.”
“There aren’t people like you,” Harry says quietly. “You’re the only one, and you’re so much more special than you’ll ever admit.”
Louis huffs a quiet laugh, shaking his head. “I hope you’ll always think that way,” he says.
“I will, because I’m right,” Harry says, sticking his tongue out at Louis. “I know the world has made you feel like excess, like you don’t have a place to belong, but that’s not true. You belong everywhere, in the sunshine, in gentle summer breezes, in soft snow flurries and in the color the leaves turn in the fall. You belong in the sparkle in the ocean and the sound of a birdsong, and I wish you could see yourself in all of those places the way that I do. You’re every cozy rainshower in spring and every electrical storm in summer, you’re everything, and the world’s done itself a terrible injustice making you feel any other way.”
(I actually turned that piece of dialogue into a sonnet for my poetry workshop class last semester that’s how much i loved it dsjdbssda)
12. Share or describe a favorite review you received:
honestly any and every positive and/or constructive comment tbh. my favorite comments are the ones that tell me exactly what and why they liked my work, and the ones that analyze and connect my work to their own lives. my only goal in writing and in having an audience is to mean something to someone, to hopefully string at least a couple of words together that change the way someone looks at the world, or at themself, or at anything, tbh. i just love being able to impact people in any way and i love being told how i made someone feel something or think something or realize something. that’s the good shit.
13. A time when writing was really, really hard:
writing is always hard, especially when you’re not sure that you’re writing what you want to be writing. i’ve been feeling the pressure to move away from fanfiction and onto original fiction, and i even started writing my novel last month, but i’m having trouble pulling away from harry and louis, even if my original characters are still just harry and louis with different names.
14. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
the entirety of satellite. like i said before, that fic wrote itself, and i was only a bystander. when i first got the idea for that story, it was absolutely nothing like the finished product. originally, it was just a short piece, something a little more witty and funny and disastrous in nature, but it turned out really deep and heartfelt and philosophical. i’m very very pleased with it, obviously, but it’s absolutely nothing like how i pictured it would be.
15. How did you grow as a writer this year:
i figured out how to let a story happen instead of making it happen, and it made all the difference in my writing. i think my new favorite method is going in with a loose outline and some key plot points and just seeing where the characters want to go with it, because that’s when the story feels the most natural and those are the stories i’m happiest with.
16. How do you hope to grow next year:
i hope to keep learning and growing and producing more things that i’m proud of, and i hope i keep losing my interest in the numbers and gain more interest in the process.
17. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
all of my amazing friends and their encouragement and all of the lovely people who left comments and sent messages to let me know they enjoyed my work are my biggest motivators so thank you everyone who’s ever said a single positive thing to me!!!!
18. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
i think that my writing is a pretty accurate documentation of where my head is at at any given time tbh. my work reflects me and my life at the time of writing and i think its pretty easy to track my highs and lows through the quality and content of my work lmao
19. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
don’t force anything. if you don’t feel like writing today, don’t. if you don’t feel like writing all week, don’t. don’t let writing become a chore, let it be a fun hobby and something you look forward to doing.
20. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
my fic for the dystopian fic fest!!! it’s coming along v well so far and i’m excited to see where it goes dbsjbjas. i also have a bunch of other ideas and i’m about 160k away from hitting a million words on ao3 so that’s my goal for 2019!!!
21. Tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read.
@foolsholouday @harrytum @lesbianharrie @louwus and everyone else in the funfic gc i’m so tired i can’t remember everyone’s urls goondihgt

this is where the end of year recap happens...
2021 is closing in on it's ending. the year has definitely been another rollercoaster ride but it wasn't to 2020's extreme.
2021 had me experience my first real emotional and mental breakdowns. where all the emotions i've tried to drown came to surface. the beginning of the year was hard. i failed out of school the semester before. crushing the dreams i was so excited about in 2019.
despite the shit i went through in 2020, i tried. all i can say is that i REALLY tried. i was mentally checked out. i was emotionally checked out. the start of my 2021 in one word -- depressed. i didn't feel like myself for sure. but if i was good at anything, it was hiding it all, until i couldn't anymore.
i spent my days helping my youngest niece navigate her pre-k virtual class. gained a-lot of quarantine/depression weight. basically just stopped caring for my health. the only positive thing i did was that i started to actively look for a job once school for the kids was close to being over. started a new job in May for an OBGYN office located in Flatbush, Brooklyn. not exactly sure it helped me get out of my funk but it got me moving and active and making my own money again.
we had as close to a normal summer as possible with COVID still active but life seemed like it was opening back up again for everyone.
summer 2021 also gave me Keith. someone i've "known" via IG for almost 8 years. finally met in person in June. i went into this knowing not to expect anything since he lives in Georgia. but i can honestly say, getting to know him over the summer helped bring the spark back into my life. i'm extremely happy to have made that leap and for him because he's just been everything amazing so far.
this summer we finally got to go away for a mini vacation/getaway with my whole family. seeing the kids enjoy themselves and seeing my parents be able to be out and about made me feel so good, so normal. we as a family definitely needed that.
unfortunately, the summer also found me admitted in the hospital for the first time in my life. it started with a massive nosebleed at 2am that ended me in the ER. it was all from my blood pressure and my sugar being both massively high. the nurses in the ER kept telling me "you're lucky it was ONLY a nose bleed". i've lived with high BP for years now and it all finally caught onto me. they said it could have been so much worse but i'm so glad it wasn't. i was admitted for about 4-5 days on the cardiac floor with a heart monitor attached to my neck the whole time. it definitely was a wake up call that i know i needed.
summer 2021 also was year 43 for me. i realize now that i ALMOST didn't get to see it. i originally didn't want to plan anything but my GC and Twinie came up for my birthday weekend to celebrate with me. aside from the emotional breakdown/anxiety attack i had in the middle of the streets in Manhattan at 2am...i had a blast!! lolz
which now brings me to the present. Keith and i made it official on 9/7/2021. it just felt right. i went to Georgia to spend some time with him out there in November. we didn't get to do much because of his work schedule but just being with him for all those days and nights was more than enough. i've fallen for this man when i didn't think that was ever going to be possible again. i can truly say i'm happy. i'd be happier once we're both in the same state together.
but for every good news there's always some bad lurking in the corners. this one comes in the form of my mom's health. a few weeks ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. and she recently had her gallbladder removed. she's a trooper though. strong ass woman that mother of mine. and full of positivity about nipping this cancer in the bud. we are highly thankful to have detected it all at a very early stage. she's in high spirits and no longer in pain from the gallstones and we thank God for that!
there's literally 2 more weeks left to 2021. but i'm ready to see it go and see what 2022 has to offer us.

The Role of Dexamethasone in the Era of “Dex-CSDH” Randomized Controlled Trial. A Multicenter, Prospective Study on Specific Subset of Patients with Chronic Subdural Hematoma (CSDH) Treated with Dexamethasone Alone or Surgery
Authored by Abhishek Chaturbedi
Abstract
Background: The efficacy of Dexamethasone as a method of conservative management for CSDH to avoid surgery remains inconclusive even after “Dex-CSDH” randomized controlled trial as almost all patients underwent an initial operation to remove the hematoma. Current study aims to determine the efficacy and safety of Dexamethasone alone therapy in comparison with the surgical drain of CSDH.
Methods: A multicenter, prospective study on mild to moderately symptomatic adult patients with CSDH were performed from January 2019 to December 2020. The patients were enrolled in a 1:1 ratio to receive a 3-weeks tapering course of oral Dexamethasone, starting at 4 mg thrice daily, or surgical drain of CSDH. The patient was assigned to a particular therapy based on their preference. The primary outcome was functional outcome in each group at 6 months determined by mRS, and cure rate (symptomatic relief and radiological resolution of CSDH).
Results: Twenty eights patients were assigned to Dexamethasone group and 30 patients to surgical group. The mean age of the patient was about 62 years in both groups with male predominance (>60%). A favorable outcome determined by mRS scale of 1 to 3 at 6 months follow-up was 25/28 (89.2%) in Dexamethasone group compared to 28/30 (93.3%) in surgical group (difference, -4.1 [95% CI, -6.8 to -2.2], p=0.12). The cure rate was 23/28 (82.1%) in Dexamethasone group compared to 28/30 (93.3%) in the surgical group during index admission (difference, -11.2, [95% CI, -14.3 to -7.6] in favor of the surgical group, p=0.005). Recurrence rate for CSDH was 2/28 (7.1%) in Dexamethasone group compared to surgical group 4/30 (13.3%) which was statistically significant (p=0.01). Morbidity related to medical therapy was not statistically higher compared to surgical group.
Conclusion: Current study exhibits superiority of surgery over Dexamethasone therapy for resolution of symptomatic CSDH. The recurrence rate of CSDH is lower in patients with corticotherapy compared to surgical drain. Patients in Dexamethasone group did not have functional outcome at 6 months or morbidity significantly higher than surgical group. This study strongly puts forward the utility of Dexamethasone as an effective and safe alternative to surgery for CSDH.

Introduction
Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a common neurological disease prevalent in elderly population and has shown an increase in incidence due to extended life expectancy and use of blood thinners [1]. Burr-hole evacuation of CSDH is simple and easy to perform procedure with low morbidity rate (ranging from 0 to 9%) [2], but a rather variable rate of recurrence (10 to 20%) [3,4]. Surgery remains the mainstay therapy for patients with symptomatic CSDH with acceptable morbidity in medical community which produces excellent outcome and good symptomatic relief. Despite the excellent outcomes obtained by surgery, complications may occur, some of which may be potentially severe or fatal. Furthermore, up to 25% recurrence rate is reported.
Glucocorticoid has been used to treat CSDH [5], with acceptable efficacy and safety profile as stand-alone therapy to avoid surgery or as an adjunct to surgery to prevent recurrence of subdural fluid collection [6,7]. The Dexamethasone for Adult Patients with Symptomatic Chronic Subdural hematoma (Dex-CSDH) trial was a multicenter, randomized control trial conducted in the United Kingdom and published in December 2020 [8]. This recently concluded study aimed to determine the effect of Dexamethasone on outcomes in patients with symptomatic CSDH. It reported that most of patients (>90%) had to undergo surgical drainage of CSDH while on 2 weeks tapering dosage of Dexamethasone drug, which resulted in fewer favorable outcome and more adverse events compared to placebo at 6 months, but fewer recurrence of subdural fluid collection in the Dexamethasone group.
This provided much needed Class I evidence on Dexamethasone therapy to evaluate its effectiveness and its impact on the functional outcome of the affected patients. Since almost all the patients underwent surgery to evacuate CSDH while of Corticotherapy, the true effect of Dexamethasone as stand-alone therapy to treat this disease effectively, safely, with avoidance of surgery and prevent recurrence of subdural collection could not be ascertained by this study. Current study is a multicenter, nonrandomized but controlled, prospective clinical trial to determine the efficacy, safety and functional outcome of patients with standalone 3 weeks tapering dose of Dexamethasone medical therapy compared to surgical drainage of CSDH. Our study aims to add further clarity to the role of corticotherapy in conjunction with Dex-CSDH study in patients with chronic subdural hematoma.
Materials and Methods
Study design
This study is a multicenter, prospective clinical trial that was conducted in 4 different hospitals in Kathmandu, Nepal where the author treated the patients with CSDH. Patients were enrolled in stand-alone 3 weeks tapering course of Dexamethasone or burrhole evacuation of hematoma as the treatment modality based on patient’s preference. To be precise, the decision to perform surgical evacuation of subdural hematoma or conservative monitoring was made by the author following detailed discussion with the patient and patient’s next of kin. Hence it is a non-randomized study but a controlled study. The duration of the study was from January 2019 to December 2020 (2 years). We had almost 1:1 ratio between the two cohorts of patients. Dexamethasone group had total of 28 patients, while there were 30 patients in the surgical group who met eligibility criteria and fulfilled follow-up requisite.
Informed written consent was obtained for all patients who had surgery for CSDH. Verbal consent was obtained and noted in the medical records who preferred stand-alone Dexamethasone therapy as the treatment modality for CSDH. A chronic subdural hematoma was defined as a predominantly hypodense or combination of hypodense with isodense (relative the brain grey matter) crescentic collection along the cerebral convexity on computed tomography (CT) of the head.
Eligibility criteria
Inclusion Criteria: 1) The hematoma has be to be chronic or predominantly chronic with component of subacute blood 2) Glasgow Coma scale (GCS) on initiation of both alternative therapies of 13-15, 3) Modified Rankin Score (mRS) of 1-3 (see below for details on mRS scoring system) 3) Strict adherence to 3 weeks regimen of Dexamethasone as per the prescribed format [see below] 4) Follow-up on a weekly basis for patients on corticosteroid therapy to look for complications or adverse events associated with it 4) Follow-up CT scan every week for patients on corticosteroid therapy and before hospital discharge for index admission of patients with surgical evacuation of hematoma 5) Trauma or spontaneous CSDH were included in the study 6) Patients on anticoagulant or antiplatelet agent when CSDH was discovered 6) Patients who were available for evaluation of their clinical status, functional outcome and repeat CT head at 3 and 6 months follow-up visit after completion of their respective therapies.
Exclusion Criteria: 1) Subdural hygroma 2) Patients on antiplatelet or anticoagulants 3) Asymptomatic patients 4) Patients with poor neurological or functional status as is evident in inclusion criteria, GCS <13 and mRS>3 were excluded as per the pre-fixed study design [explained in discussion part] 4) Contraindications for glucocorticoid use (e.g. uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, recent peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding, severe valvular heart disease or unstable angina pectoris, active systemic infection, lactose intolerance, had a cerebrospinal fluid diversion shunt, known hypersensitivity to Dexamethasone, had a history of psychotic disorder and patients receiving glucocorticoid oral or intravenous within the last 1 month 5) Patients who failed Dexamethasone therapy and had subsequent surgical evacuation of CSDH were not included in the surgical arm of patients 7) any pre-existing medical condition that precludes surgical drainage of CSDH.
Patients
Patients with symptomatic CSDH who were eligible for the study were explained the pros and cons about both forms of treatment modalities. They were explicitly told that Dexamethasone as a stand-alone treatment may not lead to resolution or significant reduction of CSDH, which may ultimately lead to surgical drainage of blood to alleviate the neurological symptoms. This drug has inherited complications/side effects which needs to be carefully monitored during the prescribed period of treatment. The pros and cons of surgical drainage of subdural fluid collection through a burr-hole was also explained along with the complications related to surgical procedure.
Treatment protocol
All patients in this study were enrolled with intention to treat mindset using two different treatment protocol. All the patients under the surgical arm underwent standard single or double burr-hole evacuation of CSDH (based on surgeon’s discretion) with placement of subdural drain to a closed system for 1-2 days in the hospitals with neurosurgical units. The anticoagulant and antiplatelet effect were reversed with fresh frozen plasm (FFP) and platelet infusion if there is urgency to perform surgical drain of CSDH. Otherwise, about 10 days was awaited after discontinuation of blood thinners before performing surgery. Patients who had steroid therapy received a tapering 3-weeks course of oral Dexamethasone at home or assisted living facility (4mg thrice daily on days 1 to 3, then 3mg thrice daily on days 4 to 6, then 2mg thrice daily on days 7 to 9, then 2mg twice daily on days 10 to 12, then 1mg thrice daily on days 13 to 15, then 1mg twice daily on days 16-18, then 1mg once daily form 19-21 days and then stopping the therapy). A proton pump inhibitor was given during corticotherapy to prevent steroid induced peptic ulceration.
Patients who had dexamethasone therapy for resolution of CSDH were evaluated on outpatient basis weekly with fasting and post-prandial blood sugar and blood tests for the presence of newonset diabetes and hypokalemia respectively, steroid induced new-onset psychosis, peptic ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding, and other gastrointestinal side effects. Adherence to medical therapy was confirmed by reviewing patient’s or next of kin medication records and patient diaries to confirm that the medication was taken at home. Patients who were symptomatic and CT head showed mass effect from persisting CSDH despite completion of 3 weeks of Dexamethasone therapy were given option to undergo surgery to evacuate the hematoma. If agreed upon, these select group of patients underwent standard burrhole evacuation of CSDH with subdural drain.
Outcomes
The author believes that Dexamethasone is a potent antineomembrane and anti-angiogenic agent which is safe and effective treatment for CSDH that positively compares to surgical drain of the subdural collection. The author does not intend to undermine the importance of surgical evacuation of CSDH, but Dexamethasone can be a viable option, especially in specific circumstances, especially in patients with CSDH with minimal or moderate symptomatology and not severely affected neurologically or functionally. In these select subset of patients with chronic subdural hematoma, corticotherpay can be a conservative alternative treatment option in comparison to surgical drain of subdural blood collection.
Ethical issues seems to be a non-entity in this study considering patient or his/her next of kin chose the treatment modality on their own accord which has proven to be effective backed by evidence based medicine and substantial literature on both modalities of treatment for CSDH [8,9]. The modified Ranking scale (mRS) is an ordinal scale to evaluate patient’s functional status with respect to activities of daily living and has wide spread clinical application for several diseases [10,11]. This scale has seven categories: no symptoms-0, no clinically significant disability despite symptoms-1, slight disability-2, moderate disability-3, moderately sever disability-4, severe disability-5, and death-6; in this study, a score of 0 to 3 was used to indicate a favorable outcome.
In lieu with the previous studies of CSDH [12,13], the primary outcome was 1) a score of 0 to 3 on the mRS at 6 months after enrollment in the study, suggesting favorable outcome 2) resolution or significant reduction of chronic subdural collection at the end of index admission for the surgical group and at the end of 3 weeks of dexamethasone therapy for medical group (designated Cure Rate in current study). Resolution of SDH was defined as above 90% reduction in the thickness of the fluid collection with symptomatic relief. Significant reduction was described as above 75% reduction in the thickness of the subdural collection of blood with symptomatic relief.
Secondary outcome was the score on mRS at the end of each respective therapies and at 3 months interval after completion of respective treatment modalities, the number of patients who had to undergo surgical interventions during subsequent admission in the follow-up period. This entails surgery for recurrence of subdural hematoma following burr-hole evacuation of subdural collection in the surgical group or after corticotherapy. Surgical intervention in patients who had corticotherapy and could not effect a cure is also reported in current study. Post-operative recurrence of CSDH was defined as symptomatic re-accumulation of the ipsilateral subdural fluid that was previously evacuated.
Tertiary outcome was mortality at 30 days and 6 months after enrollment of patients in two distinct therapeutic modalities. It also includes morbidity related to both medical and surgical therapies.
Statistical Analysis
The two cohort of patients (surgical group vs Dexamethasone group) were matched for age, sex, GCS on presentation and initial modified Rankin Score. Overall effect was shown with the risk ratio (RR) and its 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Comparisons between Dexamethasone alone therapy versus the surgical drain were made to identify the effectiveness of Dexamethasone therapy. A two-tailed P value < 0.05 set as the level of significance under the assumption of a normal distribution curve in the current study. Statistical significance between two groups was examined by Pearson Chi-Square test or Fisher exact test for categorical variables and Student t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test for continuous variables respectively. Multivariate Logistic Regression analysis models (using the ordinal modified Rankin Scale) [14] were performed to compare variables between two select cohorts.
Results
The age in each group was about 62 years, with male predominance (64% in Dexamethasone group and 67% in the surgical group) (Table 1). The most common cause of CSDH, irrespective to the assigned group for patients with CSDH was head trauma (about 67%), followed by use of blood thinners and spontaneous in nature (14.2% and 18% in Dexamethasone group, and 16.7% and 16.7% in the surgical group respectively). Head, gait instability and cognitive impairment were the most common presenting symptoms in descending order (71.4%, 53.6% and 43% in Dexamethasone group as compared to surgical group (70%, 56.6% and 46.6% respectively). Ischemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were the most common presenting morbidity in each group (43%, 28.5% and 21.4% in Dexamethasone group compared to 46.6%, 33.3% and 26.6% respectively). The midline shift in brain due to mass effect from ipsilateral CSDH is most commonly in the range of 6-10 mm as evident on CT head (43% and 46.6% in Dexamethasone group and surgical group respectively). The patients who underwent surgery during index admission for surgical drain of SDH mean stay with SD was 5 days ±1.8.
Primary outcome
A favorable functional outcome determined by modified Rankin scale (mRS) score of 1 to 3 at 6 months follow-up was 25/28 (89.2%) in Dexamethasone group compared to 28/30 (93.3%) in surgical group (difference, -4.1 [95% CI, -6.8 to -2.2], p value =0.12). The difference was not statistically significant. The cure rate was 23/28 (82.1%) in Dexamethasone group compared to 28/30 (93.3%) in the surgical group during index admission (difference, -11.2, [95% 95% CI -14.3 to -7.6] in favor of the surgical group, p=0.005). About 18% patients (5/28) had to undergo surgical drain of subdural collection for failure to resolve following full course of corticotherapy.
Secondary outcome
A favorable functional outcome (mRS score of 1-3) at 3 months follow-up was 26/28 (92.8%) in Dexamethasone group compared to 28/30 (93.3%) in surgical group (difference, -0.5 [95% CI, -2.2 to -0.1], p value =1.24 (Table 2). It was comparable between 2 groups at 3 months follow-up. Similarly, at the time of discharge for surgical group during index admission and end of therapy for oral dexamethasone group, favorable outcome determined by mRS was not statistically significant. It was 25/28 (89.2%) in Dexamethasone group compared to 28/30(93.3%) [Point Difference -4.1 (-8.8 to -2.2), p value= 0.08]. Hence at no point in time, surgical group had significantly better outcome compared to corticotherapy group. Only 3 patients (10%) in the surgical group had to undergo repeat evacuation of subdural fluid collection during index admission after first surgery failed to resolve CSDH. Three patients (10%) in the surgical group had subsequent surgery for tension pneumocephalus, contralateral acute subdural hematoma and acute intracerebral hemorrhage (the latter probably due to brain laceration from the subdural irrigation catheter). Recurrence rate for CSDH was 2/28 (7.1%) in Dexamethasone group compared to surgical group 4/30 (13.3%) [Point difference of –6.2 (-4.2 to -8.4)] which was statistically significant (p=0.01).
Tertiary outcome
Morbidity related to stand alone Dexamethasone therapy and surgical drainage of CSDH were 17.8% (5/28 patients) compared to 13.3% (4/30) with Rate Ratio of 1.34 (range 0.8 to 1.7) with p value of 0.10. Hence morbidity related to corticotherapy did not reach statistical significance compared to the surgical therapy. The most common adverse effects related to medical therapy (Table 3) was hyperglycemia 17.8% (5/28 patients), followed by gastrointestinal problems including peptic ulceration and nosocomial infection, latter two representing 2/28 patients each (7.1%). In the surgical group, the most common complications were superficial wound infections in 3 out 30 patients (10%) and inappropriate secretions of ADH leading to hyponatremia (2/30 patients, 6.6%). They were managed with appropriate antibiotics and water/fluid restriction. No morbidity related to either therapy were life threatening in this study. There was no mortality at the time of discharge after surgery or end of medical therapy, same applies at 3 months follow-up period. Mortality was 1 patient each in assigned groups at 6 months follow-up, which was not directly related to treatment instituted.
Discussion
Chronic subdural hematoma is a common but retractable neurological disease in the elderly with a noteworthy recurrence rate (up to 25% has been reported in the literature) [9]. The pathophysiology of CSDH has been well elucidated. The process of re-bleeding and breakdown of erythrocytes exacerbated the inflammatory reaction, following by the formation of neomembrane and neo-capillaries. This cycle of the re-bleedingcoagulation- fibrinolysis process eventually led the hematoma to enlarge or recur [9]. Glucocorticoid, a potent anti-inflammatory agent has been found to inhibit neo-membrane and neoangiogenesis [15]. This has been the rationale for the use of Dexamethasone orally or intravenously to treat CSDH.
A review and meta-analysis study on Dexamethasone role for CSDH concluded even though corticotherapy has been used as stand-alone medical therapy, it’s effectiveness as a better alternative to surgical therapy has not been proven [9]. But adjuvant Dexamethasone therapy to surgical drain of CSDH is known to reduce the recurrence of this disease. Trial of Dexamethasone for Chronic Subdural Hematoma (Dex-CSDH) provided much needed multicenter randomized controlled study to elucidate efficacy and safety of Dexamethasone compared to placebo in treating symptomatic CSDH [8]. In this study, almost all patients underwent an initial operation to remove hematoma, no firm conclusion could be drawn regarding the effect of Dexamethasone as a method of conservative management to avoid surgery. However, it did further strengthen the existing literature about the potency of corticotherapy to avoid recurrence of chronic subdural hematoma.
Current study is inspired by anecdotal experience of the author in successfully implementing corticotherapy as standalone therapy for symptomatic CSDH. In his experience, he got better results from 3 weeks of tapering regimen of oral Dexamethasone drug as compared to routinely used 2 weeks of corticotherapy in respect to resolution of subdural fluid collection. This was achieved with acceptable adverse effects related to considerable period of glucocorticoid therapy with strict vigilance of patient during this therapy. When pilot study on Dex-CSDH was published in 2019 with its inception in 2015 [16], the author was enthusiastically propelled to contemplate similar study in the country of his medical practice. The author wanted to conduct a randomized controlled trial comparing the efficacy and safety of Dexamethasone therapy with surgical drain of subdural collection.
Since patient were not keen on randomization and their preference of therapy was paramount, it ended up being a multicenter, prospective, non-randomized but controlled study. The author believed that CSDH patients with poor neurological and functional status should be subjected to surgical drainage for urgent alleviation of their symptomatology and neurological recovery. Hence, mild to moderately symptomatic patients with favorable functional outcome were only enrolled for corticotherapy (GCS of 13-15 and mRS score of 1-3). Being a comparative and controlled study, the surgical group also constituted patients with similar neurological and functional status as Dexamethasone group. All the eligible patients who were assigned to either Dexamethasone group or surgical group were matched for age, sex, GCS score and mRS score at the time of enrollment in the study.
Current study shows that at 6 months follow-up, functional outcome of patients based on modified Rankin Score scale was not statistically significant between stand-alone Dexamethasone group and surgery group. Similar picture emerged for patient’s functional outcome at end of respective therapies or at 3 months following discharge from medical care. However, the cure rate which specified significant or complete resolution of CSDH with symptomatic relief was statistically significantly higher in surgical arm compared to medical therapy (82.1% for Dexamethasone group vs 93.3% for surgery group, P value of 0.005). The recurrence rate for CSDH in Dexamethasone group was lower compared to surgical group which reached statistical significance (7.1% for corticotherapy vs 13.3% for surgical group, P value of 0.01). This is line with most of the studies in existing literature and corroborated by Dex-CSDH study [8].
As shown by various study including Dex-CSDH trial , in this study adverse effects or morbidity related to Dexamethasone therapy was not markedly higher compared to surgical therapy (not statistically significant on analysis). None of the patients in this study had life threatening complications related to respective therapies. About 18% (5 out of 28 patients) in medical treatment group had failure of therapy to resolve CSDH, hence underwent surgical evacuation of the subdural collection. This is in contrast to 2 patients (6.7%) who failed to be cured by surgical evacuation of subdural hematoma at the end of index admission. These two patients had multi-loculated subdural hematoma which prevented from surgical cure. In totality, 3 patients had re-do surgery for removal of residual and symptomatic CSDH during index admission through burr-hole drainage. Three patients (10%) in the surgical group had subsequent surgery unrelated to recurrence of CSDH (e.g., tension pneumocephalus, contralateral acute subdural hematoma collection etc.). There was one mortality among patients belonging to both types of therapies at 6 months follow-up, but probably unrelated to the instituted therapies.
Our trial has limitations, the most important being a nonrandomized trial and small sample size. Another arm of patients with Dexamethasone as an adjunctive treatment to surgery would have added more clarity and substance to this study.
Conclusion
Current study exhibits superiority of surgery over Dexamethasone therapy for resolution of symptomatic chronic subdural hematoma. The recurrence rate of CSDH is lower in patients with corticotherapy compared to surgical drain. Patients in Dexamethasone therapy did not have morbidity significantly higher than surgical group. This study strongly puts forward the utility of Dexamethasone as a viable alternative to surgery for CSDH. It can be a safe and effective stand-alone therapy especially in subset of CSDH patients with initial good neurological and functional status.

Pull my Devil Trigger
Tumblr media
Hello my friends!
It is officially announced, Devil May Cry 5 will be coming out 2019! I was actually one of the lucky ones to attend the GC 2018 and play the demo, and admittedly, I am pumped to the core. I am seeking anyone who might be interested in starting an RP based on the series. It doesn't matter which version or timeline, for I am open to any possibility. I also highly welcome original ideas, alternate plots and OC's! I have a few ideas myself and would like to discuss them with my new potential partner <3  Okay, as for the guidelines, nothing much has changed on my part. Same old, same old ;)  I’ll keep it short and sweet for my introduction. I am Fenry, but you may address me as Fen. Obviously this is not my real name but I would like to keep a pseudonym as my identity until I get to know my partner better.

I am 25 years and that means adult themes and topics will be included
Female
Over 10 years of roleplaying experience
Masters graduate
I live in CET, Europe
Prefer doubling, though I can make exceptions
My roleplaying partner must be above the age of 18, preferably 20+.
I don’t care which gender honestly, as long as the Roleplay and friendship is good I am all for it. Contact me with a small introduction. Tell me about yourself, what you’re ideas are, how long you’ve been writing and your limits. I want to know more about you, assess your character before we move to anything else. It would otherwise come off as impersonal.

The qualities I prefer in an RP buddy are:

Mature
Dedicated
Detailed
Literate
Frequent (which doesn’t mean that you need to send me 5 messages per day. 2-3 times per week is absolutely fine since I am not able to respond as much either)
Flexible
We all have real, social lives outside of the roleplaying world. I understand when you’re not able to reply as fast all of the time, because it is not much different for me either. I will try to respond at least 4-5 times a week. If it’s a good week, my replying rate will increase depending on the given situation. If there’s work ahead or any sort of obstacle that might get in the way of our exchange, I will let you know as soon as I possibly can! I promise you this!
But I also hope you do the same when there’s something that might cause a hiatus.

I am looking for LONGTERM and CONTINUOS Roleplays! My partner should be very committed because otherwise, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense and we might as well drop it.

When it comes to my writing style and preferences, I will list these things here for you to read.
Writing: I am a multi-paragraph sort of writer, which means that frequently, my writing will exceed at least 500 words, and upward of 1000+ words. I love detail in description, and I am actively seeking someone of the same infamy. Generally, I tend to write in the 3rd person. I’ve also tested the waters of 1st person but found it fairly awkward, if not, jarring so I’d rather keep it with 3rd person.
Pairings: I openly play characters of both genders, preferable m x f pairings, but I am open to m x m and f x f relationships as well. I have more experience with m x f relationships, so I might excel in this category more than I would do with the others. However, like I said, do not let this deter you. Very much open to other sexual orientations and preferences. Romance and intimate erotic scenes are always a part of the story, so if you are someone who prefers fading to black, I am afraid to tell you that my request isn’t something for you. This is not negotiable, sorry.
Genres: I am versatile when it comes to genres and settings that I like to play in. Supernatural is my absolute jam, especially urban and gothic fantasy, maybe even a bit of mythology as well?
Anything involving vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, shape shifters, aliens, mutants, other urban creature of folklore, given some sort of modern day spun, is absolutely perfect for me. I also really love science fiction in its many forms. I’m not as fond of general real-life or general modern day genres and themes without a good, complex idea attached to it.
Characters: Faceclaims, GIFs, drawings, mood boards or just a plain physical description is absolutely welcome / sufficient. I am not someone who necessarily needs a face claim for a character in order ‘to get the picture’. There are many instances where I could not find a suiting match for my character’s definition, so I resorted to drawing them myself or leaving it with a simple description.
Characters should have flaws - that is a no brainer obviously, since nobody likes a Mary Sue / Gary Stu - but also some unique traits that make them stand out and remain memorable. I take inspiration from JK Rowling or George R.R. Martin for example as each of their character remains very unique and unforgettable in my opinion. They definitely did something right and I want to emulate that, so don’t be afraid to be rather bold with your character creation. Let your imagination run wild and surprise me with your ideas!
World building & plotting: An active roleplayer is wanted in this category, without a doubt. I love to world-build, but I tend to lose interest when I am the only one who puts in the effort into it. I can’t do the thinking for two people, so I implore you to at least share the burden (which should not be regarded as such because roleplaying is a fun hobby and nothing more). Too often I find people shying away from it in this regard. If I feel that I’m carrying the weight of the world-building part with specific ideas, I will end the Roleplay in immediately. And consider that the world building is just the tip of the beginning, so from that, I’ll be able to see whether we’ll be a match or not. Because we’d be starting from scratch with whatever we do, it would be a big relief to have someone who doesn’t mind letting ideas flow to set up the universe that we will be roleplaying in.
Content: I find writing erotic, dramatic or action packed scenes very enjoyable. I don’t hinder myself when certain subjects are mentioned that may be uncomfortable for the general public. But then again, as a reminder, a Roleplay is not reality but fiction. For example situations that heavily imply and involve brutality, mayhem, psychological and physical torture are things that need exploration.
Characters should be fully fleshed out, even the not so pretty parts of one’s personality and actions. There is no black and white, but a wide ranging spectrum of grey areas. A story does not always end well and life is never fair, so to implement this into a Roleplay, it would make a fantastic and very exciting story. Nothing is ever certain, people have their ups and downs… we shouldn’t make an exception here. I am not afraid to delve into even more sinister areas such as psychological trauma if its needed to further the story. I want to be as transparent as I possibly can. I have very few limits. The only subjects I will not touch, or rather avoid are heavy graphic rape scenes, bestiality, necrophilia and pedophilia. Other than that everything is fair game. What I also find quite fascinating is describing someone’s mental as well as physical transformation, ascending to a higher or lower state of being, etc. The process of metamorphosis, may it be the manipulation or corruption of someone… it all is quite eerie and at the same time, intriguing. It all leads to the progression of the story, so be warned that we won’t be walking on egg shells here.

The story will not be solely centred on dark themes. I love me a mixture of everything, including drama, fluff, angst, action, comedy, romance, adventure, mystery and so forth.

Let’s lighten up a bit, kay? :)
The ones I’ve marked in bold are the ones I am currently itching for the most.

The pairings I've listed down below are just some ideas that we could use for pairings (or even alternate versions).
Pairings:
age gaps (non pedophiliac)
friend x best friend’s older sibling
enemies to lovers
cop x criminal
friends turned lovers/pining
grumpy x sunshine
dark hearted man melting for the innocent woman
reunited old lovers and/or friends
boss x employee
neighbours
mentor x mentee
hitman x victim
hurt/comfort
height differences
pet names
rich x poor (or noble and peasant / different social classes)

2021 WIAA state boys golf tournament: Rob Hernandez's Division 1 sectional preview, predictions | WIAA Boys
Tumblr media
Wisconsin.Golf’s Rob Hernandez sizes up the WIAA Division 1 boys sectional golf tournaments being contested across the state this week. The top two teams in each sectional advance to next week’s state tournament, along with the top three golfers not on those teams. The Division 1 state championships are scheduled for June 14-15 at Wild Rock Golf Club.
WAUSAU EAST SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Antigo 355 3 1985 D.C. Everest (Schofield) 337 4 1991 Eau Claire Memorial 290 49 2019 Hudson 299 3 2019 New Richmond 311 22 2001 River Falls 305 16 2018 Stevens Point 338 27 2016 Wausau West 352 4 2007 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Jaxon Bulgrin, Marshfield 85 Carter Cygan, Wausau East 79 Jamin Dufree, Superior 79 Brett Elkin, Chippewa Falls 71 Koldyn Gechas, Rhinelander 81 Andrew Henrichs, Rhinelander 89 Matt Nault, Superior 77 Andrew Rude, Superior 77
When, where: 9 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Hills CC-Wausau, par 72.
That was then (in 2019): Hudson senior Charley Chase and sophomore Bennett Swavely shot matching 76s at New Richmond Golf Course as the Raiders shot 316 and edged Big Rivers Conference rival Eau Claire Memorial (320) to win the 2019 WIAA Division 1 New Richmond sectional. New Richmond sophomore Owen Covey shot 71 to slip past eventual state champion Russell Dettmering of Merrill by one shot for medalist honors. Stevens Point senior Evan Thomas joined Covey and Dettmering in qualifying for the state tournament at University Ridge GC in Madison. Covey and Swavely were the top performers among golfers currently competing in the 2021 high school season.
This is now (in 2021): There is nothing like a 290 to get people’s attention and that’s exactly what Eau Claire Memorial did last week in winning the WIAA Division 1 Superior regional at Nemadji GC in Superior. Freshman Will Schlitz shot 4-under-par 68, one of just three sub-70 rounds in the state, to edge Hudson senior Bennett Swavely, a University of Minnesota recruit, by one shot for medalist honors as the Old Abes outscored Hudson 290-299 for the team title. History would suggest that it will be a much different story on the scoreboard at Greenwood Hills, which last played host to a sectional in 2011 when Hudson (323) knocked off Superior (336) and Eau Claire North (339) for the team title. Memorial, the Big Rivers Conference champion, has a freshman (Schlitz) and two sophomores (Ben Christensen and Parker Etzel), for whom this sectional will be their first. Could that open the door for Hudson, which has three seniors in its starting five with one of them a tournament veteran in Swavely. Much like Memorial and Hudson dueled in the Big Rivers, Stevens Point and Wausau West went back-and-forth in finishing 1-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference only to finish second and third, respectively, behind D.C. Everest (Schofield) at the Everest regional at Wausau CC. On paper, none of the three WVC favorites have the scoring punch of Eau Claire Memorial and Hudson, but that may not be as important if the sectional plays out the way Leg 5 of the WVC tournament series did May 14, when Stevens Point (346) outlasted Wausau West (348) and D.C. Everest (352) for team honors in a high-scoring affair on the challenging Greenwood Hills layout.
Projected state team qualifiers: Hudson, Eau Claire Memorial.
Projected state individual qualifiers: Logan Pechinski, Stevens Point; Carter Cygan, Wausau East; Owen Covey, New Richmond.
NOTRE DAME (GREEN BAY) SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Appleton North 345 3 2001 Appleton West 352 4 2003 Ashwaubenon 330 3 2008 Bay Port 342 7 2019 De Pere 316 6 2015 Green Bay Preble 340 15 2010 Notre Dame (Green Bay) 317 15 2018 West De Pere 325 3 2004 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Aiden Cudney, Kimberly 82 Sam Knapp, Kaukauna 87 Kaden Marcell, Shawano 81 Jake Prestigiacomo, Appleton East 87 Quinn Process, Pulaski 81 Connor Schaefer, Hortonville 89 Lucas te Plate, Shawano 86 Aaron Tonn, Pulaski 86
When, where: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Thornberry Creek at Oneida GC, par 72.
That was then (in 2019): Kaukauna’s dynamic senior duo of Tyler Cleaves (74) and Brock Hlinak (75) paved the way, but fellow seniors Zachary Klingseisen (76) and Reis Schweiner (77) weren’t too shabby, either, as the Galloping Ghosts fired a 302 and rolled to the Notre Dame (Green Bay) sectional at Thornberry Creek at Oneida GC. Bay Port (319) edged host Notre Dame (Green Bay) by one shot for the second state berth behind junior Preston Cedergren, who shared medalist honors with Appleton East senior Ben Gilkay and Cleaves. Gilkay, Green Bay Preble senior Cole Hanke (75) and Green Bay Southwest senior Trent Thomas (75) earned the individual state tournament berths. Appleton West sophomore Austin Georger, who lost to birdies from Hanke and Thomas on the second playoff hole for the last two berths, shot 75 and was the top finisher among current high school golfers.
This is now (in 2021): It must be the WIAA postseason because sectional host Notre Dame (Green Bay) turned in one of its finest performances of the season last week in winning the Ashwaubenon regional at Brown County GC in Oneida. Junior Ryan Darling had a lot to do with that, firing a 1-under 71 to earn medalist honors by seven strokes and help the Tritons (317) roll past Fox River Classic Conference rival Ashwaubenon (330) for the title. Lost, perhaps, in Darling’s work up front was the fact Notre Dame had all five golfers shoot 85 or better on a tough layout. Two years ago Notre Dame packed its four scoring golfers between 78 and 84 only to fall one shot shy of Bay Port in its bid for a 16th state tournament berth. This year, De Pere figures to be the team the Tritons and everyone else will be chasing. The FRCC overall champion Redbirds looked strong at its own regional at Ledgeview GC in De Pere with seniors Ben Busick (78) and Grady Coppo (79), junior Sam Mehlberg (79) and sophomore Jack Weisenberger (80) setting a tone that will be tough to beat if they can replicate that balance at Thornberry Creek. Lurking out there, too, is Fox Valley Association champion Appleton North, which won the FVA Championship with a 327 but finished third (345) at the De Pere regional.
Projected state team qualifiers: Notre Dame (Green Bay), De Pere.
Projected state individual qualifiers: Austin Georger, Appleton West; Max Reis, West De Pere; Aiden Cudney, Kimberly.
MADISON MEMORIAL SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Holmen 331 6 2019 Madison Memorial 321 17 2017 Middleton 310 21 2019 Onalaska 327 21 2013 Reedsburg 358 7 2008 Tomah 333 4 1983 Verona 323 1 2018 Waunakee 309 1 2017 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Dominick Fetterer, Wisconsin Rapids 88 Charlie Gibbs, Baraboo 84 Finn Jackson, Madison West 88 Dane Kubisiak, Wisconsin Rapids 88 Sonny Lombardo, Mount Horeb 88 Kaleb Lycke, La Crosse Central/Logan 83 Jack Morgan, Madison West 85 Brandt Wilson, Sauk Prairie 89
When, where: 9 a.m. Monday at Blackhawk CC-Madison, par 72.
That was then (in 2019): Historically a mix of Madison- and La Crosse-area teams, this sectional welcomed Wisconsin Rapids to the mix for the first time and went to the Ridges GC in Wisconsin Rapids to determine state qualifiers. The results, however, looked a lot like those when the sectional is played in Madison or La Crosse. Four Middleton golfers broke 80, led by junior Kip Sullivan (75), as the Cardinals shot 306 and topped Holmen by five shots for the team title. Mount Horeb’s Kasen Fager (72) earned medalist honors by two strokes over Verona senior Austin Gaby. They joined Sparta junior Austin Erickson (76) in advancing to the state tournament as individuals. Middleton sophomore Jacob Beckman (79) tied for 10th and was the top finisher among golfers still competing at the high school level in 2021.
This is now (in 2021): Middleton, which finished second to Milwaukee Marquette at the 2019 WIAA Division 1 state championship, was reminded last week that it’s as tough to get to the state tournament out of this sectional as it is to contend once there. The Cardinals shot 310 at their own regional last week at Pleasant View GC, but finished second to Waunakee (309), which boasted the medalist in junior Max Brud (73) and had all five golfers break 85. Middleton’s four scoring golfers ranged from 75 to 80 with a lineup that had just one senior (University of Wisconsin recruit Jacob Beckman) in it. While they would appear to be the teams to beat, Onalaska’s winning 327 at its own regional came on a demanding La Crosse CC and will no doubt send the Hilltoppers into the sectional with confidence. However, qualifiers from both regionals will find a much different challenge at Blackhawk CC, a tight layout with fast greens that is playing host to a boys sectional for the first time in recent memory. When the course held a Division 1 regional in 2017, Middleton won with a 311, but none of the other schools in the eight-team field broke 325 and only one golfer bettered 76. To further muddy the waters, three schools ranked in the top 10 — No. 4 Middleton, No. 8 Waunakee and No. 9 Madison Memorial — are in the field as are the top two teams also receiving votes (Verona and Holmen).
Projected state team qualifiers: Middleton, Madison Memorial.
Projected state individual qualifiers: Will Meganck, Waunakee; Hunter Neumann, Tomah; Sam Evenson, Holmen.
PLYMOUTH SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Arrowhead (Hartland) 302 30 2019 Fond du Lac 345 39 2019 Hartford 340 12 2003 Manitowoc 341 21 2007 Neenah 344 10 2014 Plymouth 346 15 2017 Sheboygan North 307 27 2018 Slinger 321 5 2014 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Owen Beumler, Sheboygan South 89 Isaac Geffers, Oshkosh North 88 Joseph Held, West Bend West 88 Tristan Helgeson, West Bend West 89 Nic Kolar, Sheboygan South 89 Boden Memmel, West Bend East 90 Dakota Rezachek, Two Rivers/Mishicot 89 Evan Spaeth, West Bend West 86
When, where: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Quit-Qui-Oc GC-Elkhart Lake, par 71.
That was then (in 2019): Two-time defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Piercen Hunt shot 70 at Washington County GC in Hartford as Arrowhead (Hartland) shot 308 and edged Fond du Lac by four shots for the team title at the WIAA Division 1 Hartford regional. Beaver Dam senior Zak Kulka, a UW-Green Bay recruit, finished second with a 72 and joined Plymouth senior Charlie Aschenbach (74) and De Pere senior Cole Griffin (76) in qualifying for the state tournament individually. Slinger sophomore Addison Raimer and West De Pere freshman Max Reis shot matching 80s and were the top finishers among those golfers who are still competing during the 2021 season.
This is now (in 2021): Sheboygan North moves into this sectional from what this year is the Mequon Homestead sectional and promises to give perennial power and top-ranked Arrowhead (Hartland) a run for the team title. The Golden Raiders are coming off of a Neenah regional championship where sophomore Mason Schmidtke’s state-best 66 fueled their 307 winning score. Overshadowed by Schmidtke’s remarkable round was the fact that all five North golfers, three of them seniors, shot 86 or better. That experience will be critical against Arrowhead and Slinger, whose senior standouts are at the top of their lineups and promise to make the road to Wild Rock GC in Wisconsin Dells difficult for North. Arrowhead seniors Nick Amtmann and Andrew Fickel shared regional medalist honors with 73s at Washington County GC last week as the Warhawks, who also got a 74 from sophomore Bode King, shot 302 to top Slinger by 19 strokes. Raimer, however, is playing some of the best golf of his high school career and has formed a solid nucleus with junior Will Summers and senior Tyson Miller.
Projected state team qualifiers: Arrowhead (Hartland), Sheboygan North.
Projected state individual qualifiers: Addison Raimer, Slinger; Will Summers, Slinger; Wyatt Pfeiffer, Fond du Lac.
JANESVILLE PARKER SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Beloit Memorial 340 28 2013 Fort Atkinson 356 11 2015 Milton 326 1 1987 Monona Grove 346 3 2017 Mukwonago 332 8 2019 Oregon 353 1 2000 Stoughton 358 9 2013 Sun Prairie 351 8 2010 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Nolan Ahler, Elkhorn 85 Will Arkin, Madison La Follette 92 Josh Brogren, Elkhorn 85 Ryan Ertel, McFarland 90 Kai Klass, McFarland 91 Wyatt Marshall, Janesville Craig 73 Ethan Prusakeiwicz, DeForest 88 Bryce Sullivan, Janesville Craig 87
When, where: 8 a.m. Tuesday at Janesville Riverside GC, par 72.
That was then (in 2019): Bucknell recruit Blake Wisdom of Lake Geneva Badger shot 71 while teammates Luke Abram (75), Ben Rademaker (77) and TJ Walton (78) also broke 80 as the Badgers (301) pulled out a two-stroke victory at the Mukwonago sectional at Edgewood GC in Big Bend. Mukwonago won a team playoff over Sun Prairie for the second state berth after the two teams tied for second place at 303, leaving the Cardinals’ Mickey Keating (73) to take one of the three state individual berths with Janesville Parker junior Kadin Kleman (73) and Milton senior AJ Gray (75), who won a playoff over Sun Prairie senior Ethan Carrick and Janesville Parker’s Zack Milner for the final spot at University Ridge. Badger’s Abram, who tied for fifth, was the top golfer among those still competing at the high school level in 2021.
This is now (in 2021): As is often the case with a sectional that encompasses areas south of Madison and west of Milwaukee, this sectional couldn’t be more wide open. Milton (326) and Monona Grove (346) come to Janesville Riverside as regional champions, but Mukwonago (332) and Beloit Memorial (340) finished within 14 strokes of Milton at the Mukwonago regional at Edgewood GC in Big Bend and Sun Prairie (351), Oregon (353) and Stoughton (358) finished within 12 shots of MG at the Portage regional at Portage CC. Likewise, only four golfers broke 80 at Mukwonago, led by individual sectional qualifier Wyatt Marshall of Janesville Craig (73), and no one shot lower than 81 at Portage. Beloit Memorial and Monona Grove shot matching 349s to finish T-2 at the Ashenfelder Invitational at Janesville Riverside last month, but history suggests the course is much more forgiving than that so it will likely take a score lower than 320 to advance to the state tournament.
Projected state team qualifiers: Milton, Mukwonago.
Projected state individual qualifiers: Griffin Oberneder, Beloit Memorial; Jacob Frederickson, Monona Grove; Wyatt Marshall, Janesville Craig.
HOMESTEAD (MEQUON) SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Cedarburg 308 4 2016 Germantown 314 2 2010 Hamilton (Sussex) 320 0 NA Hometead (Mequon) 304 31 2019 Kettle Moraine 295 8 2019 Oconomowoc 332 26 2006 Pewaukee 330 5 2012 Waukesha West 329 1 2004 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Jake Anderson, Whitefish Bay 82 Collin Barry, Whitefish Bay 81 Ben Hilbelink, Menomonee Falls 72 Peter Hoeppner, Waukesha North 82 Jackson Piacsek, Waukesha North 76 Mason Roanhouse, Waterford 79 Cullen Starker, Whitefish Bay 79 Owen Van Galen, Waukesha South 83
When, where: 9 a.m. Tuesday at North Shore CC-Mequon.
That was then (in 2019): Sophomore Ty Mueller (78) and junior Josh Teplin (80) turned in top-10 finishes as Mequon Homestead shot 322 and survived arguably the toughest sectional venue in the state on the Irish Course at Whistling Straits in Haven with the Sheboygan North sectional championship. Kettle Moraine (330) edged Sheboygan North (333) and Germantown (336) for the second state berth. Sheboygan North seniors Austin Thyes (73) and Max Schmidtke (76) and Waterford junior Josh Koszarek (75) qualified for the state tournament individually. Medalist Ben Pausha of Kettle Moraine (72) was the top finisher among golfers still competing at the high school level in 2021.
This is now (in 2021): Top-ranked Kettle Moraine, which shot 295 in winning the Waukesha South regional, and No. 3 Mequon Homestead headline a field that includes a few teams — Cedarburg, Germantown and Hamilton (Sussex) — capable of keeping the favorites from punching their ticket to the state tournament in Wisconsin Dells. It will take a yeoman’s effort, however. Kettle Moraine’s victory at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha included a 72 from senior Jackson Vinopal, a 73 from freshman Spencer Stuke, a 74 from sophomore Alex Koenig and a 76 from senior Jackson Cain. Pausha, the sectional champion two years ago the last time a WIAA tournament series was held, had his 78 thrown out. Homestead seemed comfortable with the shootout that was its regional at Mee Kwon GC. Mueller’s 71 earned him a share of medalist honors with Germantown’s Collin Thomey and led the way for the Highlanders (304), who got a 75 from sophomore Hunter Thibert and a 77 from senior Christian Sobczak at the back end of the lineup on a day when No. 2 golfer Joe Fricker shot 82 despite a 37 on the back nine. Cedarburg (Nathan Theama), Germantown (Thomey) and Sussex Hamilton (Michael Addie) all have strong No. 1 golfers who won’t be intimidated by a tough sectional venue in North Shore CC, which is the fourth Mequon-area course Homestead has enlisted to host a postseason competition in the last three years.
Projected state team qualifiers: Homestead (Mequon), Kettle Moraine .
Projected state individual qualifiers: Collin Thomey, Germantown; Michael Addie, Hamilton (Sussex); Nathan Theama, Cedarburg .
RACINE CASE SECTIONAL
TEAM QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE STATE BERTHS LAST Franklin 346 5 2019 Kenosha Indian Trail 344 0 NA Marquette (Milwaukee) 304 11 2019 Muskego 334 4 2017 Oak Creek 329 1 2000 Racine Case 343 13 2015 South Milwaukee 432 36 1989 INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS REGIONAL SCORE Tyson Baldwin, Kenosha Tremper 87 Egan Bedwell, Milwaukee King 109 Michael Cerny, Racine Horlick 83 Tyler Dahl, Kenosha Tremper 76 Peter Iwanowski, St. Francis/Cudahy 82 Josh Koch, Milwaukee King 96 Alex Krowski, St. Francis/Cudahy 105 Kamden Logan, Kenosha Tremper 91
When, where: 9 a.m. Tuesday at Ives Grove GL-Sturtevant, par 72.
That was then (in 2019): Junior Jack Lutze (70) and seniors Jack Blair (72) and Drew Sagrillo (72) swept the top three spots and freshman Hayden LeMonds (76) finished T-7 as Milwaukee Marquette shot 290 and cruised to a 17-stroke victory over Franklin to win its own sectional at Brown Deer Park GC in Milwaukee. No other school finished within 36 strokes of the top two teams. University of Wisconsin-bound junior Cameron Huss of Kenosha Tremper (76) earned his first WIAA state tournament berth as an individual qualifier along with St. Francis/Cudahy sophomore Peter Iwanowski (78) and Greenfield senior Sam Mendoza (79). Franklin sophomore John Mirsberger (73) finished T-4, the best showing by a golfer still competing in the high school ranks in 2021.
This is now (in 2021): The names may change, but the results remain the same for Milwaukee Marquette, which has won the last two WIAA Division 1 state championships and three of the last four. Senior Riley Simonz (75), junior Sebastian Kasun (76) and sophomore Marco Bamrah (76) swept the top three places and junior Hayden LeMonds shot 77 in his season debut after a long road to recovery from Bankart Repair shoulder surgery last summer as the Hilltoppers shot 304 to win their own regional a Brown Deer Park, a rather stress-free competition with only three schools fielding full teams. That junior Will Hemauer’s 78 was thrown out speaks to the depth coach Brad Niswonger’s team has again in 2021. There figures to be a wide gap between Marquette and the second-place team at Ives Grove. None of the other six teams in the sectional shot lower than 329 (Oak Creek), paving the way for a spirited battle for the second state berth.
Projected state team qualifiers: Marquette (Milwaukee), Racine Case.
Projected state individual qualifiers: Dylan Moore, Kenosha Indian Trail; Tyler Dahl, Kenosha Tremper; John Mirsberger, Franklin.
WESTOSHA CENTRAL SECTIONAL

When, where: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brighton Dale Links GC-Kansasville, par 72.
That was then (in 2019): Junior Dan Sobeleski (76) and Wauwatosa East/West shot 305 at Wanaki GC in Menomonee Falls and won a shootout with junior Marty Swab (72) and Menomonee Falls (308) to win the Brookfield Central sectional. Swab shared medalist honors with UW-Eau Claire-bound senior Connor Brown of Union Grove, who qualified individually Brookfield Central seniors Jack Anderson (75) and Dean Yun (76). Yun won a playoff over Brookfield East’s Zach Walsh for the final state individual berth. Sophomore Sam Yun (78), who finished T-12, was the top finisher among those golfers still competing during the 2021 high school season.
This is now (in 2021): Badger (Lake Geneva) moves over from the Janesville Parker regional to take aim at Wauwatosa East/West, which placed all five golfers in the top 11 at last week’s Brookfield Central regional at Wanaki GC in Menomonee Falls and shot a 317 to top runner-up Brookfield East by 10 shots for the team title. Junior Ben Soboleski (75) and senior Colin Muellen (79) were the only golfers to break 80 at Wanaki, the kind of scores that will go a long way at Brighton Dale Links in a sectional that is otherwise extremely balanced. Badger won the Union Grove regional at Ives Grove GL in Sturtevant with a 327 behind junior TJ Walton, who played well in the postseason in 2019, and seniors Colton Craig (81) and Chris Bakken (83). Scores are seldom low at Brighton Dale so this sectional will not only test the depth of teams hoping to advance to Wisconsin Dells, but also their patience.
Projected state team qualifiers: Wauwatosa East/West, Badger (Lake Geneva) .
Projected state individual qualifiers: Simon Graham, Union Grove; Sam Sonsalla, Brookfield Central; Charlie Bennett, Brookfield East.

It has reinforced a common belief in the Valley: the August 5 decisions were aimed at robbing Kashmiri Muslims of economic and political rights.
One year after special status ended, Kashmiris have disappeared from government in J&K
On April 2, a photograph from an official meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir administration created a buzz on social media in the Kashmir Valley. At first glance, the picture appeared unremarkable. It showed Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu holding a meeting with a battery of bureaucrats.
Social media users in the Valley were quick to point out that, out of the 19 men in the photograph, there was only one Kashmiri Muslim – Farooq Ahmad Lone, a former Indian Administrative Service officer from the Valley.
“Islam is the major religion practiced in Kashmir, with 97.00% of the region’s population identifying as Muslims and among them just Farooq Lone sb is standing alone in decision making with regard to highly Muslim populated Jammu and Kashmir as I could see,” said a Facebook user from Kashmir.
The picture cut to the heart of the anxiety that has gripped the Valley ever since August 5, 2019, when the Centre stripped Jammu and Kashmir of special status and split the former state into two Union Territories amid the severest lockdown the region has ever seen. Parliament also repealed Article 35A, which had empowered the government of the former state to define “permanent residents” of Jammu and Kashmir and reserve for them specific rights, such as the right to own land and hold government jobs, in the state.
The common refrain among Kashmiris in the aftermath of the decision was this: the move was aimed at introducing demographic change to the predominantly Muslim Kashmir Valley, robbing its inhabitants of economic and political rights.
The legislative assembly of the former state, now disbanded, had traditionally been dominated by the Muslim-majority Valley. With the August 5 decisions, Valley residents feared the “comeback of Dogra rule”, referring to the unpopular Hindu kings of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, which existed before 1947. In other words, they feared a government and administration that did not represent the Kashmiri Muslim majority of the region.
It was not just the picture that triggered these fears.
Tumblr media
Vanishing Kashmiris “In civil bureaucracy, police and judiciary, Muslims in Kashmir feel nowhere,” said Ghulam Hassan Mir, a former minister in the state and now a member of the newly floated Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, in a recent interview. “They are being sidelined and there is complete imbalance in the system. Kashmiris are found nowhere and even in the civil secretariat, which is the seat of power, the dejected Kashmiri officers are feeling detached.”
This marginalisation may not have started last year. Two former ministers who had served in the governments of the former state said that Delhi had always intervened in crucial appointments. A former cabinet minister who served in the People’s Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government traces the marginalisation of Kashmiri officers back to 1989, when militancy spread rapidly across the Valley.
“It has been like this since 1989,” said the minister, who was among the many Kashmiri politicians arrested just before August 5. “Most of the key posts in the administration and police were held by non-local bureaucrats and officers on Delhi’s bidding. But state governments did act as a bit of buffer in such a scenario because there was accountability before the people. Tomorrow, they would have to go to people for votes.”
That has changed dramatically since the state assembly was dissolved, said another former cabinet minister. “The bureaucrats leading this administration don’t even want to stay in Kashmir,” he said. “Either they stay in their fortified official accommodations or they prefer to spend their week days in Jammu or Delhi. There’s no connection with the public.”
The change in leadership starts from the top. For years, the state had coalition governments led by a Kashmir-based party and a Kashmiri chief minister. The coalition partner was usually a national party, which won most of its votes from Jammu. But after the PDP-BJP government fell in June 2018, Kashmiri Muslims have had a waning presence in government.
Since the BJP walked out of the coalition in 2018, Jammu and Kashmir has been governed directly by the Centre, first through the governor and then, after it became a Union Territory, through the lieutenant governor. Both acted in consultation with an advisory council. In these two years, only one Kashmiri bureaucrat has been part of the council – Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, a retired Indian Administrative Service officer. His term ended on October 31, 2019, the day Jammu and Kashmir officially lost statehood.
Since then, Kashmiris have disappeared from the core unit of the administration altogether. While the administration is closely controlled by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs – most important policy decisions have been announced by it – the lieutenant governor and his four advisors are now the face of government in Jammu and Kashmir. Each advisor has the powers of a minister, supervising different departments instead of holding portfolios. Three of the advisors are from Jammu. The fourth is from Uttar Pradesh. None of them is from the Kashmir Valley.
Faces of the Union Territory administration
GC Murmu, a 1985-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Gujarat cadre, served as principal secretary to Narendra Modi during his tenure as chief minister of Gujarat and later as expenditure secretary at the Centre. Back in 2004, he had also faced allegations that he “tutored” witnesses who appeared before the Nanavati Commission, set up to look into the 2002 Gujarat riots. The allegations were dismissed by the Supreme Court-appointed special investigation team. Murmu was appointed lieutenant governor on October 31.
Kewal Kumar Sharma, on the governor’s advisory council since 2018, continued with Murmu. A retired Indian Administrative Service officer from Jammu division’s Kathua district, he has been chief secretary of Delhi and Goa as well as advisor to the administrator of Chandigarh. He was also secretary in the Union human resources ministry in 2016. At present, Sharma supervises a wide range of departments – from revenue, planning development and industries to education and horticulture.
Also continuing from the 2018 advisory council is Farooq Khan, a former Indian Police Service officer from Jammu. After he retired from the police, Khan had joined the BJP at a public rally held by Modi in Kathua during the run up to the Lok Sabha elections of 2014. He is the grandson of Peer Mohammad Khan, the first state president of the Jammu and Kashmir Jana Sangh.
Farooq Khan was instrumental in establishing the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s counterinsurgency wing, now known as the special operations group, during the peak of the militancy in the early 1990s. But his career was attended by controversy. In 2000, when five men were killed in an alleged fake encounter in Pathribal in Anantnag district, he was the senior superintendent in charge. In April 2003, he was suspended by the state government for two and a half years. In September 2005, he was exonerated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
At present, Farooq Khan handles food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, social welfare, tribal affairs, labour and employment, youth services and sports, among other departments.
The only person from outside Jammu and Kashmir to be part of the advisory council is Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, who retired as director general of the Central Reserve Police Force. Bhatnagar is in charge of health and medical education, public works, irrigation and flood control, transport and animal husbandry in the union territory administration.
The most recent entrant to the advisory council is Baseer Ahmad Khan, appointed in March. This was soon after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had expressed concern about the “inordinate delay” in framing charges in the Gulmarg land scam. Khan is one of the accused.
Baseer Khan was due to retire from the Indian Administrative Service on June 30, 2019. But as the government secretly geared up for sweeping changes to the state, it gave him a one-year extension, calling it a “special case”. When Jammu and Kashmir lost statehood, he was divisional commissioner of Kashmir. As advisor, Khan handles power development, rural development & panchayati raj, disaster management, culture, tourism and floriculture.
Also aiding the council is chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. He hails from Andhra Pradesh.
The chain of command
Kashmiri officers have vanished further down the chain of command as well. There were 58 Indian Administrative Officers in the state cadre of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir – the cadre has now been merged into the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories cadre. Of those 58, only seven were Kashmiri Muslim. That included Shah Faesal, the star bureaucrat who went on to form his own political party. After August 5, he was among the scores of political leaders detained under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, a preventive detention law. He remains under house arrest.
Key departments like home, finance, health, environment are headed by officers from outside Jammu and Kashmir. The only officer from the Kashmir Valley running an important department is Asgar Hassan Samoon, principal secretary for school education.
While Jammu division is headed by Sanjeev Verma, a local resident, Kashmir’s divisional commissioner, Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, hails from Maharashtra. In the 10 districts of the Valley, only four district commissioners are Kashmiri.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police force is headed by Dilbag Singh from Punjab. Mukesh Singh from Delhi heads the police in the Jammu division and Vijay Kumar from Bihar is the inspector general of Kashmir. None of the five deputy inspector generals is from Kashmir. In the 13 police districts of the Kashmir Valley, only two are under the charge of Kashmiri superintendents.
Kashmiri judges are a minority in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, too. Of the 11 sitting judges, only two are Kashmiri Muslim while two are Kashmiri Pandit.
A logjam
The August 5 decision also brought about a crucial change in the bureaucratic structure. While Jammu and Kashmir had special status, only 50% of its All India Service officers were direct recruits chosen through examinations held by the Union Public Service Commission. The other came from Kashmir service officers who were promoted into All India Services. In other states, 67% of the officers are direct recruits while only 33% are officers inducted from the state services. When Jammu and Kashmir lost special status, it also became subject to the 67:33 rule.
Central changes apart, internal wrangles have meant promotions are stalled in both the Kashmir Police Service and the Kashmir Administrative Service.
“You can blame the failure to induct local KPS officers into the Indian Police Service on three reasons,” said a senior police officer in the Valley, speaking off the record. “The seniority disputes between officers, litigation and the failure of state governments in the past. There’s no word on when it’s going to happen.”
Since 2009, no Kashmir Police Service officer has been promoted into the Indian Police Service. At present, all 66 Indian Police Services officers in the Jammu and Kashmir cadre are those who were recruited directly through examinations held by the Union Public Service Commission. The total strength of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s IPS cadre is 147, out of which 80 posts are for direct recruits and 67 slots are reserved for those promoted from the state service. A majority of the posts now lie vacant.
There is a similar logjam with inductions from the Kashmir Administrative Service into the Indian Administrative Service. “There has been no induction into the IAS for more than 10-11 years because of the dispute over the seniority list of the 1999 KAS batch,” said a Kashmir Administrative Service officer who did not want to be named. “There have been petitions, counter petitions and all those discussions but so far the logjam hasn’t been broken.”
Had the dispute been solved in time, the officer calculated, 50 to 55 Kashmir Administrative Service officers would have been inducted into the Central service over the last decade.
A poor track record
Even within the state services, observers have noted that recruitments have been skewed against Kashmiris for years. Historian and former civil servant Khalid Bashir Ahmad notes that between 1995 and 2014, over 65% of the state services were made up of recruits from Jammu and about 32.7% by recruits from Kashmir. This despite the Kashmir division being the most populous region of the former state.
As for Kashmiri representation in the police, Ahmad traces a long history of marginalisation that goes back to Dogra times. “During the last 102 years for which record is available, out of 34 police chiefs in the Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir, only 2 were Muslims,” he writes. “In Ghulam Jeelani Pandit, the state had its last Muslim police chief as back as in 1989.”
The former minister who was imprisoned after August 5 was unsurprised by this track record. “This is nothing new,” he shrugged. “But what’s happening now is the culmination of ultimate design of Hindutva which is the decimation of Kashmiri Muslims.”

Here’s how the PGA Tour plans to return without fans in June

Golf now has a real plan to return — but it’s aspirational without expanded testing, puts an end to The Greenbrier for good, and might end up with Tiger Woods prepping for The Masters in Jackson, Mississippi.
Let’s start with the obvious positives. We’re all running thin on Netflix specials, on new books to read, whatever. After five-some weeks isolated and socially distanced with little to watch, everyone’s ready for sport to come back to our lives — in any format we can get it. Aggressively ahead of most other professional sports organizations on plotting a return, the PGA Tour announced Thursday morning a plan to resume play starting June 8.
The question isn’t if we want sports back. The person you know that loathes golf the most would probably settle for a sleepy Saturday afternoon 3M Open broadcast right now. It’s a matter if it’s right for the country and the world during this global pandemic.
Here’s what you need to know — and what to think about as we’re looking at this new schedule.
The Tour’s timeline to return is aggressive and will require extensive travel. Can that actually happen?
Dr. Anthony Fauci, who’s been a shining light of truth for many through this crisis, indicated just yesterday that there’s a path for sport to return this summer — playing without fans.
That’s not a problem for the Tour, which seems to be prepared to play events without galleries for several weeks. The return in Fort Worth at Colonial won’t feature anyone in the grandstands, nor will any event through the Rocket Mortgage Classic on the weekend of July 4 in Detroit. PGA of America president Seth Waugh has said the organization is prepared to play the August PGA Championship without fans at Harding Park in San Francisco. At the very least, the governing bodies are prepared for the reality that fans may not be present at golf tournaments for a long time.
But there’s one other item Fauci noted in his comments earlier in the week that would be a massive problem for the Tour’s proposed schedule — keeping the players quarantined, isolated, and restricted to a small geographic area.
“There’s a way of [returning].” Fauci told Snapchat on Tuesday when speaking about a possible return for Major League Baseball. “Nobody comes to the stadium. Put [the players] in big hotels, wherever you want to play, keep them very well surveilled. ... Have them tested every single week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their family, and just let them play the season out.”
Golf has an advantage other sports don’t in this struggle to return to normalcy. The game is by nature spread out over hundreds of acres, outdoors. It’s not a contact sport, save for interaction with a caddie. That makes it relatively easy to still adhere to six-feet-apart social distancing guidelines during competition.
But the PGA Tour’s proposed schedule would struggle to meet the standard Fauci and others advise of sequestering athletes in a defined localized area. The MLB, NBA, EPL, and other leagues have all reportedly floated ideas to isolate players to complete seasons in places like Las Vegas or Arizona. The Tour is not doing that here. If regional and local containment becomes a priority and testing cannot increase to the capacity needed, is it safe to have professional golfers and a traveling cadre of broadcasters, support staff, and others? Despite the announced plans, the Tour seems to at least be keeping that in mind.
PGA Tour exec Andy Pazder expresses confidence that increased testing availability will facilitate a June re-start of competition but adds, "We will play only when we are certain that it is safe and responsible to do so."

RIP to the Greenbrier event, which is gone from the schedule for good
The casualty of all the schedule shuffling? The Greenbrier, which has been bumped around several times in recent years, is off the schedule for good.
There’s perhaps no full-field PGA Tour event in the modern era that’s had as weird and circuitous a history as the West Virginia event. Added to the schedule in 2010 to replace the longstanding, fan-favorite Buick Open, the tournament opened with a bang with Stuart Appleby’s stunning final-round 59 to beat Jeff Overton. That started a nice run, including appearances by Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, even during an often-shifting July date.
Then came the devastating floods that hit West Virginia in 2016, forcing the cancellation of the event, from which the tournament never really recovered. The later arc of the event brought us the somewhat bizarre, flag-loving A Military Tribute At The Greenbrier name. The final death knell to the relationship between the resort and the Tour may have been the choice to move the event from July to September as part of the 2019 schedule changes — which no matter the spin, is a less desirable date for a golf event opposite football.
The Tour’s contract with the Greenbrier ran through 2026, but both sides were ready to walk. So, goodbye to Old White and summer in West Virginia. You were nothing if not weird.
The off-season for pro golfers is suddenly, uh, right now
We often joke about the year-round, never-ending professional golf schedule. The true 2019-20 PGA Tour schedule provided all of a couple of weeks off between the season-ending Tour Championship and the aforementioned September Greenbrier. Still, there’s a usual ebb-and-flow to things for top players. Start ramping up the schedule slowly in January, February, March to prepare for the usual summer major months, then play sparingly in fall downtime.
That won’t be happening this year. The reshuffling has created a back-loaded 2020 schedule with odd rhythms and weird travel patterns leading into majors for the top players. Consider this example: If a player wants to make a couple of pre-Masters warm up starts, but doesn’t want to play the week prior in Houston, they’ll have to leave the country. The entire lead-up to the biggest tournament of the year features events in Korea, Japan, China, and Bermuda — during a global pandemic! Lots of players aren’t going to love that, probably Woods included.
The FedExCup Playoffs-U.S. Open combo in August-September will cause weirdness, too. What if Jordan Spieth, now 110th in the FedExCup standings, doesn’t qualify for the BMW Championship? Does he opt to play on the other side of the country the week before the U.S. Open? Come in with a month off ahead of a major? Or look somewhere else — like another Tour, for a start? It’s bizarre to even consider, but we’re going to see oddities in individual schedules like this all year.
Here’s the rest of the full, revised schedule — for now.
Revised 2019-20 PGA Tour Season schedule:
NO FANS June 8-14: Charles Schwab Challenge, Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, Texas
NO FANS June 15-21: RBC Heritage, Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head, South Carolina
NO FANS June 22-28: Travelers Championship, TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, Connecticut
NO FANS July 2-July 5: Rocket Mortgage Classic, Detroit Golf Club, Detroit
July 6-12: John Deere Classic, TPC Deere Run, Silvis, Illinois
July 13-19: the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide, Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin, Ohio
July 20-26: 3M Open, TPC Twin Cities, Blaine, Minnesota
July 27-Aug. 2: World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, TPC Southwind, Memphis
July 27-Aug. 2: Barracuda Championship, Tahoe Mountain Club (Old Greenwood), Truckee, California

Aug. 24-30: BMW Championship, Olympia Fields Country Club (North), Olympia Fields, Illinois
Aug. 31-Sept. 7: Tour Championship, East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta
And because the Gregorian Calendar stopped mattering on the PGA Tour schedule a few years ago, here’s where the new “season” begins in the fall. If you’re going by the definition of “season,” next year’s Tour schedule will have six majors in it, if all goes according to this plan.
