Ford Motor Co. is recalling 432,096 Focuses, C-Maxes and Escapes, including some 2015 models, for faulty body control modules. The glitch can allow the engine to continue running after turning the ignition to the “off” position or pressing the engine stop-start button, the company said.

It’s the 17th recall for the current-generation Escape.

So, unfortunately this recall happened in 2015. My wife has a 2015 Escape Titanium that we bought brand new in 2015 and it was manufactured in Lexington during the time Ford determined that the BCM was an issue.

That said, now that it is 2019, the BCM has gone out and Ford is telling us that because there is not an active recall, they can't help us. Ford is also telling me that recalls do not "expire" so I am getting conflicting reports from them on this.

Apparently all they need to do is update the system software to correct the problem but instead my local dealer is wanting to replace the entire BCM for $600+

Do you guys have any experience with this issue or holding Ford accountable for old recalls?
