Trying a new silhouette, inspired by Hermina from @wondervol I don't really have big issues with my body image, but every now and then I find myself hearing an ancient judgemental voice in my head that just asks to be silenced. Someone (I did) convinced me I couldn't wear an outfit like this with my body type. "I'm too busty." "It's too sexy." "Too tight." Until @lalalaletmeexplain wrote about girls learning to cover up to be safe from the male gaze, ánd behavior, from a very early age. Her post was eerily familiar. And it infuriated me. I sat with my anger for a while. I knew I already did a ton of work on the subject. I will never feel called to wear ultra short and tight, skirts, shorts, shirts and dresses. I'm already conditioned far too long to feel miserable, and unsafe (!), in that type of garments. All respect for those who do wear it with confidence. But I do like to explore my boundaries anyway. @wondervol and I have a similar body type. I know she is taller than I, and has much longer legs. But size wise we're close to each other . Shopping in her @Vinted closet is fun for me. I have seen her wearing shorts and tops a lot lately. She looked good, stylish and comfortable. I tried shorts. I hate them. They keep riding up between my legs, and they give me the same experience as jeans often do: warm and sweaty in the waistline. But I do love a decent singlet or tank top, and skirts. Until this year you wouldn't even find me dead mixing this top with a pencil/slim skirt, without me feeling exposed. But watching other women wear it on here, and liking the style, I figured I could try it too. Make it my own. And here we are. I feel pretty, covered enough to meet colleagues, and airy enough to survive 35 degrees Celsius today. The message? You're never too old to learn and challenge yourself. Keep an open mind and get inspired. Make it your own. I'm ready for this day. Let's see what it brings, especially when wearing marine blue. Today we said our final goodbyes to Summer, my family's #calico cat of 16 years. The little ones always leave the biggest holes in your heart, when they're gone. My sister rescued #summerthecalico from a bad situation. Summer was scared but feisty, and it took her several years to fully trust humans. But loved my sister from the start, and later on chose my dad as her human. Besides licking out her stitches after her spay surgery, causing an infection, this little fighter never fell ill, never got severely hurt. Pretty sure her first and only experience with the vet, her spay, made her determined to stay away from vets as far as possible. Until today. Earlier this week she suddenly didn't want to eat, she barely drank, and she didn't show up for treats. At the vet became clear she had liver and stomach cancer, and was far beyond treatment. She hid her symptoms very well, like the stoic queen she was. At sweet sixteen she earned her wings, after a spoiled life full of love and adventures. Scrolling through pictures of her, I came across these 2 gems. One sassy #catloaf and one of Summer basking in the sun in the windowsill at my parents' old house. In hér spot. Saved for her. Where no plants or decorations were allowed. Anything too close she would simply kick away. This image of her is how I picture her in paradise. Snoozing. Purring. Basking in the sun, quietly taking in the view. Thinking about dinner, treats, and planning on catching the birds in the trees, and fish in the pond. Rest easy, sweet girl, we already miss you. Day 7 of #40days40oufits #letsstartfresh and this morning I first gave #boratherottweiler a full #reiki treatment, in hopes of helping her through the sadness of me going to Brazil without her. Believe me, being apart is quite the ordeal for her. No matter how wonderful her caretakers are, she'll be depressed. And I get that. But I'm going anyway. So, hopefully the reiki will help with her arthritis ánd the pain of seperation. It did make her sleep deep and snore already, so fingers crossed she'll be fine while I'm gone. (I'll miss her too ofcourse but I know she's in great hands.) I also made a start on packing my bags. And I'm happy ánd surprised to say that I still have space left for some essentials that I'm using every day, and all the pairs of #havaianas all my friends and family have ordered for me to bring back for them. Monday. Nowadays Jacq loves Mondays, because her inner nerd gets to learn new stuff through work every workday. Also her inner creative and organizer get to play every workday. And recently yoga got added to the mix. Guess what, my biggest fear going back to work didn't happen. #fibromyalgia is not being a bitch. I ám vigilantly keeping a strict balance between work, play and rest. I'm also successfully adjusting my diet. And somehow this works, and it makes me incredibly happy. Now to learn to trust this balance is here to stay. Bora couldn't care less. Obviously. She's not too keen on me being away for a few hours a week, but as long as I return quickly, and stay the generous treat dispenser I've always been, she's fine. I don't know anybody else who enjoys long car rides as much as Bora does. She usually starts out very excited for the adventure to settle down to quietly take in everything we pass along the way. I know, not the best photo ever made but can I just share my pride and joy for a minute? Everybody loves #orchids, right? Well, at least everyone I know does. I buy them every year. I used to kill them every year. But ever since @sam.gym.fanatic became my neighbor and friend he has been teaching me how to take proper care of plants. This orchid was a present and after all the flowers were done blooming, I figured it would leave me sooner or later too. But Osama showed me how to cut and water it. And the magic happened. The plant grew new shoots, new leaves and now new flowers. I never knew something this small and normal could make me so happy.
