FEH Book V, Chapter 12: What Remains

Part 1: Fabric of History

MID_SCENARIO_OPENING: Alfons: Now that we've made it to Niðavellir's castle, will you guide us in, Princess Reginn? Reghin: Hmm... I have a feeling Fáfnir would go to the throne room. Follow me. Anna: Wow... Everything in this castle is entirely different from the castle in Askr. Incredible. Sharon: There are similarities though too. They also have portraits lining their hallways. See? These must be your ancestors, right, Princess Reginn? Reghin: These are the names of those that contributed most to Niðavellir's development. Seiðjárn researchers. Alfrik, Dvalinn, Billingr, Grer… Niðavellir was able to grow into something great because of their works, what they created... Alfons: For that same technology to be used to torture the king and invade other kingdoms is a shame… I doubt they would have wanted this to happen. Reghin: You're right... I've been thinking a lot lately about how, before all of this, maybe I could have done more... Sharon: Oh, Princess Reginn! You've done everything you could! Dagr: Take it from me: turning against your own siblings is never easy. Nott: Hm. Speak for yourself, Dagr! Dagr: Not everyone is as soulless as you are, Nótt! When I— Alfons: A-anyway! You fought for Niðavellir and got this far, right? If you ask me, you've done as much as anyone could have. And Kiran agrees! Reghin: Princess Sharena, Princess Dagr, Princess Nótt... MID_SCENARIO_OPENING: Dagr: Yeesh! Are you all right, Reginn?! Reghin: I'm still in one piece... Dagr: Keep your head on a swivel! If you don't, you're going to die out here! Reghin: I know, I know! But— Fafnir2: Grrrraaahhhh... Reghin: Brother, listen to me! Dagr: Reginn! Watch out! Hngh— Rrr! Nott: Dagr! No! BATTLE_STING1 Reghin: Dagr! Dagr: … ...Huh? Nott: ...Hrgh! *cough* Dagr: S-Sis! Sharon: Oh no... Alfonse, Princess Nótt, she— Alfons: Sharena, we need to get Fáfnir away from Princess Nótt! Sharon: Right. Hang in there, Princess Nótt... Fafnir2: Krrraaahhh!

MID_SCENARIO_MAP_END: Nott: *cough* What are you...looking at, Dagr? Dagr: An empty-headed— Why did you get in my way?! Why do you always have to ruin everything all the time?! Nott: That's...all you have to say? I had hoped...as my sister...you'd at least have the sense...to thank me... *cough* Dagr: I love not having sense! And I love that you swoon over...whatever it is you see in the men you fall for! And you know I would get you the throne! Just...don't die! I don't know what I'd do without you… I need you, Sis! Nott: ...Heh. Sorry, Dagr, but I think...it's time for me to go...and for you to find your own way… Find a way...to be a great queen… I'm sure you will...be splendid. You are...my sister, after all... Dagr: ...Sis? Nótt! No! Don't leave me! Don't leave me alone! No, no, no, no… *sob*

MID_SCENARIO_ENDING: Reghin: N-no... Princess Nótt... I-I... Alfons: Princess Reginn! We need to focus! Reghin: But because of me, she...she's... Alfons: No! This is a battlefield. We're all a hair's breadth from death at any given moment here. Reghin: But... Dagr: He's right, Reginn. Reghin: D-Dagr! Are you serious?! Dagr: I chose for myself to follow and protect you—just like my sister chose to protect me… This is not your fault. We made these choices ourselves. Reghin: Dagr, I'm...I'm so sorry! I don't know what to say! Dagr: You don't need to say anything. But if you want to know what you can DO, I have only one answer for you: defeat Fáfnir. Take him down yourself. It's how it has to be. Reghin: Princess Dagr... Dagr: You understand, don't you? All of us here—my sister and I, all the people in Askr, and all the people in Niðavellir too—we need you. We need you to set things right. For all of us. Reghin: ...I understand. I will defeat him... I will! I'm sorry, F��fnir, Brother, but...I have to stop you!

Part 4: Coyote's Justice

Part 5: Family

MID_SCENARIO_MAP_BEGIN: Fafnir2: GWAAAAARRRRGH! Reghin: ... Sharon: Are you all right, Princess Reginn? Reghin: Yes. I know what I need to do. I won't hide from it anymore. If I don't stop him, other people will lose their lives… I have enough blood on my hands… I may not be able to undo all my brothers have done, but I have to try! Alfons: Princess Reginn... Fafnir2: NGYAAAHH! Reghin: FÁFNIR! Your reign of chaos ends here and now. I will stop you myself!

MID_SCENARIO_MAP_END: Fafnir2: Gwahhh... Rrrr... Ungh... Reghin: Fáfnir… As Niðavellir's true princess, I cannot tolerate your treatment of my people. With this sword, Gramr, I will end you now... Here I come! BATTLE_STING1 Fafnir2: GWA— Reghin: ... Fafnir2: … I...I am... M-my name...

MID_SCENARIO_ENDING: Reghin: *sniff* Dagr: Reginn, I know I asked you to stop him, but I didn't say you had to feel good about it. It's OK to cry. Reghin: ...Thank you, Princess Dagr. Dagr: Go to him. Hurry. Reghin: Brother! Fáfnir… *sniff* Finally I can hug you again, like we used to... Fafnir2: ...Fá...fnir? N-no... My name... Yes… My name was... Reghin: Tell me, Brother... Alfons: Fáfnir... Did you regain your memories of the world you came from?! Fafnir2: Yes... I remember… I remember all of it… I was a soldier...a member of the military force of a small country… I fought every day and rose up the ranks...to provide for my family… I had...a wife...and a daughter… I just wanted to give them a good life... Reghin: Y-you had a wife?! And a daughter?! I had no idea... Fafnir2: When I was summoned here, I had no idea what had happened... All I could do was fight to survive… Ah... And then... Voltron: Legendary Defender season 3 random thoughts. Spoiler warning

One the one hand I’d been expecting this series to do the pilot switch up for awhile now... but as I began watching this season I started to not want them to do it since they had spent so much time establishing the connections between the Paladins and their Lions, than now all that development feels rather wasted. I dunno, I kind of wish they had more of a falling out when Shiro was missing and we got some Lion on Lion, Paladin on Paladin action (Voltron: Civil War) before either Allura or a new character from one of the races the had saved became worthy of the Black Lion. But I guess they had to do the Line-up from the original show because everyone including myself has been expecting it since Season 1.

Prince Lotor is surprisingly cool and competent. I really like him and hope Zarkon doesn’t just come back and be all like “Raaahh!!! Even in death I am the only leadership!” and then beat Lotor up and we never hear from him again. Lotor is a more interesting and morally complex bad guy, since when the tyrannical dictator is like Zarkon and is just all destruction and slavery it’s easy to stand against him, but when the dictator is more cunning like Lotor and at least puts on a mask of compassion, then he’s more difficult to fight because you can start to see why people would side with him.

Season 4 comes out in October and does anyone know how many episodes it is? Because if it’s only 6 or 7 then I so believe Season 3 and 4 were originally meant to be one season.

Does anybody else thing the Gulra ship made out of the Transdimensional ore looks suspiciously like a pair of flying legs? No? Just me? Ok then.

It feels like Shiro’s return (real Shiro or not, mind control or not) should have been the season cliffhanger, with “The Journey” being the final episode, while they discovery of and search for the Transdimensional ore should’ve been more focused on while Shiro was gone.

Also of Shiro’s return, it was really rushed. Like, we didn’t even get to see the team’s reaction to it as they finally brought him aboard the Castle. Also, Lance mentions that Allura is learning at a faster rate than the others first did, but we don’t get to see that. Was there a time skip that I just missed? Did they say low long it had been since Shiro disappeared?

Overall, I think this is probably the weakest season yet, with weird pacing probably due to the reduced episode count. Maybe when season 4 comes out I’ll be proven correct that it and this season were supposed to be one and that would explain a few things, but even then that wouldn’t fix my main complaint that Shiro’s return was just too quickly paced. Still love the show though.

His left brow twitched a small fraction downwards. His eyes flickering up to the glowing numbers above the door. "Mm. Not really." He grumbled. "I'll admit, I'd rather not attend." Raaahh!! Two answers! An official conversation! I couldn't contain my smile. I certainly couldn't leave it there! Not when the stranger's floor was coming up and I was running out of time. Tucking a my hair nervously behind an ear, I swallowed and nodded my head stupidly.

"Shit bosses always have something to preach about, am I right?" I chuckled (maybe snorted).
