Nancy then asks her mom a question about the moon being a cheese, and Stephanie grins. "No, silly billy." She says. "Oh okay. Hamuera* told me his theory that it's a large sponge that they take pieces from to make kitchen sponges so its probably that." She says, and Stephanie laughs. "Of course." She says teasingly.
Plus, here's a photo of an updated chicken version of the Takamura family that Nancy has in her room. The brown chick representing her baby brother Haruo. Also, a photo of Haruo sneaking off to the toilet to splash in it. I used to do the same as a toddler so I can't judge him too much. 😅
Also here's the link to the post with Hamuera as a kid telling his own mom Luna the moon is a sponge theory. He doesn't believe it anymore but as a kid he definitely thought he was on to something. 😄

The next morning after breakfast, the family headed to Liên and her husband Alon's house nearby. Megan greeted her cousin and cousin-in-law and asked them how they were doing, and introduced them to her wife, cousins-in-law, daughter, and niblings and met Alon and Liên’s new baby, Anita. Plus she spent time with her niece Cam, Liên and Alon's oldest daughter. "The last time I saw you, you were only a baby." Megan said, smiling. "Yeah but I got old and taller since then, auntie Megs!" Cam said, smiling at her auntie. Plus Cam took Piper, Hamuera, and Emily to her room and showed off all her toys, pointing out their names and backstories while they listened and chimed in with jokes and stories as well. After that, Hamuera went to go get water and quickly texted his boyfriend Mateo, while standing in the archway. “Nooboo, move away from the archway.” His mom Luna reprimanded gently, and Hamuera nodded, shifting so he wasn’t blocking it. Mateo said he was good, and Hamuera sent back that he wished he could be in Chestnut Ridge with him, or that Mateo could be in Tomarang, and Mateo said he felt the same. Hamuera’s mama Chrissy called him over, and he told Mateo he had to go before stuffing his phone back in his pocket.
Megan spent more time with Liên and goofed around with her. Plus, she told Liên about her friend Iseul, and Liên’s eyes widened in surprise. “Iseul Kang?” She clarified, and Megan nodding, giving her a confused look. “Oh wow, she was my temporary tenant a couple years ago, very friendly and funny, she helped Alon fix things around the place and would have dinner with us once a week and was so nice when I had an emergency and asked if she could babysit Cam for two hours. How do you guys know each other?” Liên asked. Megan blushed a bit. “We used to date in college, broke up, and reconnected because my niece Piper is dating her niece who’s also named Cam.” Liên grinned. “Cam’s a good name.” She said, and Megan grinned. “But that aside, wow. I can see why you’d like her, she has this way of making you laugh and charming you and I love Alon but she’s kind of cute.” Megan nodded. “That’s Is.” She said, smiling. “I mean not the cute part, I mean she is but not that I notice it too much.” Megan rambled feeling her face flush, and Liên shook her head but smiled too. “I’m good friends with her and her girlfriend Grace, who’s also really sweet.” Megan added, and Liên nodded.

While Iseul went to the bathroom and Megan went to go change into some warmer clothes, Tess sat with Grace on the couch as they chatted. Tess told Grace about her family, and Grace smiled as Tess described her siblings, her moms, her cousins on the Feldman side, including her cousin Luna who she and Megan lived with. "Is the joint family situation good for you guys?" Grace asked. "It always sounds fun but I feel like it depends on who you're living with." Tess nodded. "It is for us. Luna and Chrissy are amazing and I love my niblings Piper and Hamuera, and Emily loves her cousins too so she's happy to be near them." Grace nodded. "Back home, my mum, dad, and I used to live with my cousin Nadia and her mom Bushra auntie before Bushra auntie married her spouse and the three of them moved to their own place, and it was chaotic but fun." Tess grinned. "I'll bet. My cousin Luna had a similar situation. Our auntie Abby got divorced when we were 8, and she moved in with Luna and her moms and adopted our cousin Yaritza and they lived together until Luna was 19 and auntie Abby met and married uncle Harry and Yaritza and Luna are still like sisters." Grace smiled as well.
"Honestly, I understand. Nadia's the closest thing I have to a sister, and my auntie Bushra was like another mum for me. My mum-" Grace bit her lip. "Yeah?" Tess asked gently. "Well, growing up my mum was a bit strict, and we didn't have the best relationship. She expected me as her only daughter to be perfect and uphold our traditions and values and that was a tough standard to live up to. It's better now for us because we talk stuff out but sometimes I still have a hard time breaking away from feeling like I have to be one type of Grace at work who's smart and focused, and one type of Grace with my mum and her side of the family who's a good Pakistani girl, and one type of Grace with my friends and Issy who's just me." Tess nodded. "I'm sorry for unloading all of this onto you." Grace added sheepishly now, and Tess shook her head. "No, don't be sorry Grace. I don't mind listening, and I understand. I have a pretty good relationship with both moms but in my preteen years I sort of clashed with my mom Angie. She's really girly which is great but I'm not, and sometimes I felt like she wanted the perfect girly daughter who was just like her, and we'd argue a bunch but we talked it out and our relationship is good now but it was definitely rocky." Grace nodded, and Tess smiled at her. "For what it's worth I think you're pretty amazing, Grace." Grace grinned too. "Thanks Tess. Did you just make a pun?" She teased. "Yup, but it was unintentional, I swear." Tess said, laughing too, and Grace poked her shoulder before they both laughed.
