Tonight was nothing special nor was it anything out of the ordinary. It was a simple day of enjoying himself for once, without all the chaos that Lian and Naoki could be. Then again, he had been finding more excuses to be out and about lately, probably because he didn’t want to be anywhere near or intrude on Lian’s romantic dates and whatnot. Other than that, he and Naoki weren’t exactly friendly enough to hang out together outside the house either, so it was just him and a whole lot of time.

Niko could have gone to the blacksmith to craft or forge things, but with how much he had begun to dread the very act of smithing another silver ring, he couldn’t bring himself to head over there. Unfortunately, that left him with very little to do. He could sneak in on late night performances, but since he was corporeal, he did need to pay for tickets to enter, and of course he didn’t have money for those pricey things. It wasn’t like he could legally obtain any without having any records of his existence.

But, he did have the change to grab himself a nice drink, so he did that. Upon purchasing and being able to happily indulge in his vanilla milkshake, the brunette let his feet take him to wherever they felt like going. Of course, with the stars being out and the skies clear, there was a high possibility he’d end up going to a very familiar park—a small place meant for kids, but still a good place to relax when it was absent.

And that was exactly what happened. Taking a spot on one of the wooden benches, Niko stretched out his legs and turned his chin up to lift his gaze towards the darkened sky. The world was so quiet in this area. It was relaxing, yet he couldn’t help but feel quite lonely out here. When was the last time he really talked to anyone? He was asleep when Lian and Naoki were active, and he didn’t want to force them to stay awake to humor him either. Resigning himself to yet another lonely night, the boy sighed in defeat, taking a slow sip of his milkshake to ease the aching in his chest.

❝ Hmm? ❞ the boy hummed inquisitively as he glanced behind him to look upon a familiar face. Red eyes blinking in confusion, he barely was able to acknowledge the fact he was, in fact, looking at Analyn. Taking the moment to remove the straw from his mouth, Niko felt a warm and fuzzy feeling blossom in his chest. Wiping at his mouth, he hoped to remove the possible residue of the milkshake he was drinking. To be honest, he hadn’t expected to run into Analyn here of all places. Though, it was possible since they had come here together a long while back. 

Setting the drink down, he patted the empty spot beside him to invite her to sit. Greeting her with a bright smile, the boy already knew his night had been made, ❝ Nothing much, but I’m really glad to see you again. The world is quite lonely without you around, you know? Let’s catch up on things, yeah? How have you been? ❞

NIKO X ANALYN

Mikael was unexpected for sure, but somehow, his presence only made his parents’ lives all the better. He isn’t fully human due to the nature of his genetics, but he still looks extremely human. Reliant on blood for nourishment, he can’t go a day without having a couple ‘juice boxes’. Tomato juice is not an equivalent exchange, unfortunately. However, he can and will enjoy human food.

Appearance wise, he is easily a blend of traits of both Niko and Analyn, having Niko’s naturally unkempt and messy hair and Analyn’s softer, kinder eyes. Although, his eye color is something that most people question, as it is red just like theirs. Thankfully, the contact excuse does work. His skin is quite pale too, often leading for him to get sunburns more often than not. On top of that, he struggles to really gain any weight or muscle, making him hopeless and useless at many physical activities.

A tad bit shy and easily embarrassed, Mikael is the guy some gravitate to for his soft aura and cute appearance. Not to mention, he has never actually given people a reason to not like him in the first place. Helpful and generous, Mikael quickly became a popular favorite amongst his peers. He’s a good study partner and listener for when someone needs to vent. He is a bit of a loner and usually never approaches people of his own accord.

Mikael gravitates towards Analyn, often helping her with the housework and often asks her for some one-on-one time. He isn’t very close to Niko because he finds his father a bit overwhelming (in that he finds Niko’s doting to be super embarrassing if people witness it due to him being in a teenage rebellious phase), although he does try to keep a relationship with him when they do get chances to talk. However, that sentiment is one-sided as Niko heavily dotes on Mikael, makes sure he’s doing okay with day-to-day life, and genuinely enjoys spoiling him with love and affection regardless of Mikael’s rejections. He definitely inherited some of Analyn’s kuu/tsun tendencies.

KORBINIAN X SOLEIL

Whilst unexpected for a relationship to even work out, it somehow happened and Lina was born from the love between Korbinian and Soleil. She is not fully human, as she possesses minor abilities similar to a caladrius such as being able to understand birds, healing minor injuries in no time at all, having a higher pain tolerance, and can potentially live longer than the average human. But somehow, she managed to inherit Korbinian’s abnormally sharp teeth and love for meat. She despises vegetables.

Having striking blonde hair, it seems she takes after Soleil the most. However, Korbinian’s genetics are a bit of a surprise since they are based on his form before he had fallen—that is, he would pass down white/blonde hair colors and brown eyes rather than black hair and blue-grey eyes (on top of other caladrius traits). While Lina has naturally blonde hair, she dyes the lower layers to match her father’s hair. Her eyes are a light brown. Overall, people think that she takes a lot more after Soleil due to their physical resemblances.

Playful and a bit of a troublemaker, she isn’t likely to be on a teacher’s good student list. She tends to be disruptive and does whatever she feels like. Almost boastful of her academic knowledge, she often leaves classes early due to finishing her work and feeling no need to stick around to hear things she already knows. She enjoys the outdoors and being amongst nature, so naturally, she drifts towards spending her time in the woods or taking hikes along scenic trails. 

Lina is quite close with both her parents, though she prefers spending time with Soleil more than Korbinian. While Korbinian won’t likely tell her directly of her non-human abilities, she will get hints telling her she isn’t as human as she thinks she is. And because of that issue, the line between them is hard to overcome, also because Korbinian is more likely to be an awkward parent.

ALEX X REANNE

Like I’ve said before, he is a miracle child. Reanne isn’t likely to be able to have kids of her own, but boy is she beyond happy when she realizes there is this sliver of hope in the form of Kris. There is a bit of a mix of bad and good luck involved though, with Kris being premature to a concerning degree and having to stay in an incubator for months. He also had to go through a lot of facial operations, both mandatory and cosmetic, so he isn’t the most secure with his reflection in the mirror. On the bright side, he is overall a healthy guy and has no health issues whatsoever like doctors claimed he would have.

Known to be easy on the eyes, none of his peers really know how much he spends trying to keep himself presentable and hide his flaws. Similar to how Reanne has a routine of self-care, Kris has one as well, taking a good half hour or so to smooth out his terrible bedheads and cover up freckles. He personally doesn’t like his freckles much, nor does he really like looking at his own face. Though, he has the misfortune of running out of concealer a lot of the time so everyone knows he has freckles.

Normally seen with girls gathering around him or gazing from afar, it’s easy to call him the popular guy. He’s social and cheerful, keeps spirits up and usually is sincere with his words and actions. He actively tries to keep himself in a likeable position. He possesses a good sense of theater and drama/acting to the point the drama club keeps trying to recruit him. However, he suffers academically and has trouble passing nearly every class, and has extreme insecurities about his social relationships (in that he struggles to deepen them/truly bond with people due to his paranoia from past experiences of indirect bullying and old ‘friends’ being instigators of said indirect bullying).

Kris loves both his parents dearly, but he does have a slight bias towards Alex. He finds him easier to open up to about some things because he is less judgmental and quick to reprimand. But he does enjoy shopping trips with Reanne and spending time with her in general. He loves listening to their stories and memories of how they first met and got to know each other, wanting a trusting relationship like that for himself one day.
