Psalms 9-10

Psalms 9 and 10 are one psalm, and are treated as such by the Septuagint. So all Greek and Hebrew Bible psalm numbering is off by one for several psalms. (Here's a reconciliation of Psalms numbering by a fellow Biblical Studies blogger and carnival host.)

This psalm is a broken alphabetic game. Whether it is broken because it is old and has been left in a disordered room and pieces were lost under the bed or under the dresser, or whether it is deliberately broken as if the child does not want to play, we don't know. What we do know is that an editor or an author can decide to drop a verse, as the Masoretes dropped the Nun verse of Psalms 145, or deliberately reverse the normal sequence of letters as Lamentations reverses peh and ayin.

This is the longest analysis of the music we have yet undertaken. Psalms 9 begins on the third of the scale, tifcha, g, the mediant. According to my thesis, this shows its connection to the prior psalm. The first acrostics of book 5 (111, 112) also begin on a note other than the tonic. The remaining acrostic poems all begin on the tonic.

(Late) Hacktoberfest Week 2 - Github Stats

This week, I was working on (what I thought would be) a simple fix in github-stats, which is a simple tool for getting stats from Github.

It doesn’t sound particularly interesting, but I succeeded in my goal of submitting a pull request in Rust!

My task was to enforce boundaries in two functions:

Looking at it originally, I thought it would be a simple enough fix, so I shoot off a message requesting to work on the issue. The repository owner responded quickly with his blessing, and I was off to the races (or so I thought).

I looked through the other files in the project, looking for the MIN or MAX variables. Finding no luck there, I spent some more time reading through the Rust book, to make sure I wasn't missing anything there. Informative, but still no dice.

I was getting pretty demoralized at this point. Having been overwhelmed by a plethora of other things last week, I was already behind. Not being able to make what seemed like a super easy pull request honestly felt really horrible — I was questioning whether or not I belonged in this field, and thinking about settling for some other, less demanding (and less interesting!) work. Luckily, our lecture this week was very encouraging and I kept at it.

I went through and read the Traversing with Pagination section of the GitHub API, and the Pagination section had some information that was helpful! I found out that the default for a page was 1, and that Github's page numbering is 1 based, so I made it so that the page could not be decremented further than that. The incrementing was a little bit more difficult. I didn't see anything for the last page, so I ultimately decided to calculate the number of pages by dividing the total number of results by the set results per_page. (Actually, I just realized while writing that I actually need to fix, so I am doing that now— I have to also count partial pages.)

Because I had taken some time to figure things out, someone else had made a pull request for the same issue before I could make my pull request. However, I was a bit luckier than some of my classmates, and the repository owner kindly let them know that I had been assigned the request and that he would like to give me a chance first. I really appreciated this, as I was worried that he would judge me for taking too long on a simple request. I am still learning how not to be terrified of everyone else on the site.

Finally, I made my pull request, and I am not sure if it will be merged but I am very glad to have finished it. (It passed the checks, too!)

I am going to try to leverage the confidence gained from this encounter (and the knowledge that I don't need to be so scared of everyone!) and keep plugging away.

Identification of time-to-peak on dynamic 18 F-FET-PET as a prognostic marker specifically in IDH1/2 mutant diffuse astrocytoma

Abstract

Background

Stratification of glioma according to isocitrate dehydrogenase ½ (IDH1/2) mutation and 1p/19q co-deletion status has gained major importance in the new WHO classification. Parameters derived from 18F-FET-PET uptake dynamics such as minimal time-to-peak (TTPmin) allow discrimination between different prognostic glioma subgroups, too. The present study aimed at exploring whether TTPmin analysis provides prognostic information beyond the WHO classification.

Methods

Three-hundred patients with newly diagnosed WHO 2007 grade II-IV gliomas with 18F-FET-PET imaging at diagnosis were grouped into 4 subgroups (IDH1/2 mut/1p/19q co-del; IDH1/2 mut/1p/19q non co-del, IDH1/2 wildtype WHO grade II and III tumors, and glioblastoma). Clinical and imaging factors such as age, Karnofsky performance score, treatment, TTPmin and maximal tumor-to-brain ratio (TBRmax) were analyzed with regard to progression-free and overall survival (PFS and OS) via univariate and multivariate regression analysis.

Results

PFS and OS were longest in the IDH1/2 mut/1p/19q co-del subgroup followed by IDH1/2 mut/1p/19q non co-del, IDH1/2 wt patients and GBM (p<0.001). Further, outcome stratified by TTPmin with a cutoff of 17.5 minutes revealed significantly longer PFS and OS in patients with TTPmin >17.5 minutes (p<0.001 for PFS and OS). Lower TBRmax values or the absence of 18F-FET-uptake were also associated with favorable outcome in the entire group. In the subgroup analyses, longer median TTPmin was associated with improved outcome specifically in the IDH1/2 mut/1p/19q non co-del group.

Conclusion

18F-FET-PET-derived dynamic analysis defines prognostically distinct sub-groups of IDH1/2 mutant/ 1p/19q-non-co-deleted gliomas which cannot be distinguished as yet by molecular marker analysis. from # All Medicine by Alexandros G. Identification of time-to-peak on dynamic 18 F-FET-PET as a prognostic marker specifically in IDH1/2 mutant diffuse astrocytoma

Abstract

Background

Stratification of glioma according to isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2 (IDH1/2) mutation and 1p/19q co-deletion status has gained major importance in the new WHO classification. Parameters derived from 18F-FET-PET uptake dynamics such as minimal time-to-peak (TTPmin) allow discrimination between different prognostic glioma subgroups, too. The present study aimed at exploring whether TTPmin analysis provides prognostic information beyond the WHO classification.

Methods

Results

Conclusion

18F-FET-PET-derived dynamic analysis defines prognostically distinct sub-groups of IDH1/2 mutant/ 1p/19q-non-co-deleted gliomas which cannot be distinguished as yet by molecular marker analysis.
