Hello, I hope you're doing better.
I just wanted to tell you that since I read the latest chapter of Who Holds The Devil you have revived in me some ideas and scenarios I had in mind about the show.
Like what if everything worked out for Yohan's plans after episode 12 (when Gaon left Yohan and Elijah) without K or Soohyun dying? What would happen then?
Yohan will definitely leave after some point to Switzerland with Elijah because he already planned it for her treatment, even if he is not a criminal in Korea or presumed dead. But how long will it take him to leave?
And what will Gaon do? Will he start dating Soohyun or keep whatever they have between them as it is? If he dates her, will they work out or realise they were better together as friends and family but nothing more? ( I personally believe that when they start dating at the beginning, everything will seem perfect. But as time goes on, they will realise that it won't work out between them as they took a very long time to get to this point, and that it was too late.)
Will Gaon stay in contact with Elijah? (Maybe.) Or Yohan? ( I doubt it.)
Will Gaon miss them? Will he ever realise that Yohan loved him or that he had some kind of feelings for Yohan?
Basically, what would've happened if all the baggage from the last episodes never occurred. After the rejection on Gaon's part in episode 12, I believe Yohan will want to stay away from Gaon but I could be wrong.
The latest chapter reminded me of all these ideas and questions I had, but now we have a lot more baggage and issues to work through which makes me even more excited to explore what will happen next.
I trust your storytelling abilities as they have not once failed me for all this time I was following this fic.
Take care of your self, and when you feel better come back with a new amazing chapter as always.
I'm doing better, thank you 💜
Wow. Yeah, that's a lot of thoughts! And very interesting ones! And I think some of it depends on exactly how Yo Han decides to finish his plans. Like, killing people on national television would still make him a criminal, so I'm guessing that's not what he does? But he still gets his revenge somehow?
But yeah, he'd definitely still go to Switzerland since that has clearly been a part of his plan for years. And I think he'd actually go as soon as possible. Maybe he'd give Elijah time to say goodbye to Ga On, but that depends on what terms he and Ga On are, I'd say. If we assume that none of the baggage happened (including Soo Hyun dying, Ga On attempting to murder Yo Han, etc.) I think that Yo Han would keep his distance from Ga On, yes. Out of sheer pride and self-preservation, if nothing else. And Ga On has Soo Hyun so he wouldn't seek Yo Han out, since he knows that Soo Hyun doesn't like Yo Han and he wouldn't want to upset her.
So, sadly enough, I think Yo Han and Ga On would drift apart. Maybe they'd still cooperate somehow to take down the baddies, but, as horrible as it may sound, Soo Hyun's death actually brought them closer together. Even Ga On trying to kill Yo Han did in some ways since, from that point on, they're forever tied together what with Yo Han carrying the scar Ga On gave him. And without that? With Soo Hyun there to plead with Ga On not to do something dangerous? Ga On wouldn't chase after Yo Han. And Yo Han wouldn't chase after Ga On since he's already been rejected and is too prideful.
So I think that Yo Han would leave for Switzerland with Elijah and Ga On would stay in touch with her, yes, but not Yo Han. Maybe he'd try a couple of times, but Yo Han wouldn't respond. And, eventually, Ga On will stop trying because who is Yo Han to him anyway? Just his weird boss who he lived with for a while — and kind of wanted to take care of because he seemed so lonely — who was also a terrible influence on him. So, clearly, it might be for the better that they don't talk anymore.
(You keep telling yourself that, Ga On)
As for Ga On and Soo Hyun, I think they would start dating, yes, and I think they'd be pretty happy there at the beginning. If in a pretty boring and uneventful way. Like, there's not really much passion between them, is there? But they'd be content. It'd be safe and sweet.
I'm not sure if they'd notice that there's something wrong, though. I think that both of them have been waiting for this for so long that they'd be determined to make it work, even if that means ignoring the warning signs. I honestly think they'd both pretend everything was fine long after the point where it's not. And that both of them would silence the niggling doubts by saying that this is just how all relationships are — there will be dips. Nothing is perfect all the time. And it's not like they're arguing or anything.
It's just a little dull, that's all.
In short, I think they'd be stuck. Not in a way that makes them genuinely unhappy, but they certainly wouldn't be honest with themselves or each other, either. Which isn't the worst way to live, but it's also not the best one.
And I think that Ga On would miss Elijah and Yo Han, yes, though he wouldn't be honest about why he does. He'd just say it's because he cares about them and it's sad that he can't talk to them as often — or at all, in Yo Han's case. And, in a similar vein, I don't think Ga On would try to explore his feelings for Yo Han, or Yo Han's feelings for him. Because Ga On would be able to tell that danger lies in that direction and he'd rather remain in denial.
But he would think about Yo Han a lot. And probably do a doubletake every time they mention Yo Han or show his picture in the media. And he'd ask Elijah about how Yo Han is doing. He'd find himself cooking Yo Han's favourite food, even if he's not there to eat it. He'd miss the house. He'd miss the quiet nights reading.
He'd still wear the watch.
And all that longing would only make Ga On double down and be even more determined to make things work with Soo Hyun. Because the alternative is just too scary. He doesn't want there to be another explanation as to why he misses Yo Han. He wants his safe and happy life with Soo Hyun.
Everything else is shoved aside, pushed down, and ignored.
And, eventually, I think Soo Hyun would notice that something is wrong. But she doesn't know what and, even if she kind of hates herself for it, she's too afraid of the answer to ask. Because she doesn't want to lose Ga On and, deep down, she can tell that he is slipping away from her, slowly but surely. Just from the fact that his smiles are a little too hollow sometimes, and he's often staring off into space, lost in thought. So she tries her best to help him, as always, but, for some reason, it doesn't seem to work as well as it usually would.
But of course it'd eventually come crumbling down. And — since I'm a dramatic bitch — I suggest it'll do so when Yo Han and Elijah eventually drop by for a visit (mostly Elijah's doing, of course, with Yo Han reluctantly agreeing). More specifically the moment when Ga On comes face to face with Yo Han again for the first time in months — maybe even a year? — and everything he's been trying to suppress rushes to the surface and hits him like a freight train.
Because he's been living comfortably with Soo Hyun, sure, and he loves her dearly, but there's not much of a spark. But the one he had with Yo Han? That's been just a softly glowing ember since they parted ways?
Turns out that seeing Yo Han again — and being faced with all that intensity and enticing hint of danger once more — is all it takes to ignite it again. To turn it into a wildfire.
All of a sudden, Ga On is reminded of what real attraction feels like.
And the fact that it's not aimed at his girlfriend is definitely going to be a bit of a problem.
... aaaaaand maybe I should stop now. Because I'm not sure if you actually wanted me to answer what I think x'D
Anyway! Yes, very interesting things to ponder! And I think there are several ways to go, depending on what angle one wants to take and what happened during those last episodes. Like, if Yo Han and Ga On reconciled after their breakup, I think some parts would obviously play out differently. But, if they didn't? I'd go with something like what I said above.
But, again, that depends entirely on what you want to accomplish. Trust me when I say that there are always ways to tweak what happens to your liking but still make it feel in character and realistic. I'm somewhat of an expert on that, I've been told xD
Thank you so much for sharing, anyway! It was a very fun thought experiment! And I do hope to be able to get back to writing sometime soon. I'm actually feeling better than I have in a long time, but I think I'm going to make a separate post about that. We'll see.
I hope you have a great day! Take care 💜

The Devil Judge, Ep.1 Meta
(On the re-imagined justice process, imageries, parallels in South Korea and our world today)
As with all dystopian fiction, it is not exactly a far-fetched imagining of our world. Instead, it is a critique of our society which seeks to amplify the inequalities and suffering of society through some exaggeration.
The Devil Judge is that: it "re-imagines" South Korea today with a sprinkle of cyberpunk aesthetics (a little too much bluish green tint) and dystopian imagery (of homeless people, a very dirty subway and dingy backalleys on a rainy night).
I kept thinking it was a dystopian "future" but was wondering why they were using only Samsung Note 20 instead of some Samsung futuristic prototype phone. So, those phones do keep audiences grounded in the reality it is portraying -- this is the alternative South Korea of today.
We are barely halfway into the first episode and we've got this extremely charismatic, anti-hero male lead strutting red carpets and making verbose declarations like "I am the power. By the judicial authority delegated to me by the people of Korea, I will run this court. And it is the people who hold this power." (Not verbatim but that's the gist).
Then, meet associate judge Kim Ga-On who seems to be against how the system is running. He seems to be the outlier who rose to his ranks from the bottom class of society (which his colleague Oh Jin-joo says, he looks like he's from the shanty town of Seoul). We start off, barely into the drama at this point, with a dramatic scene of a kindergarten bus ramming down barricades and charging towards the Court building. A group of kindergarten children crossing the road there (I've just no clue what businses kids would have near the court building tbh). A little girl tripping as they were rushed across the road, Ga-On jumping to the rescue, and unable to pick her up in time, shields her with his own body. Kang Yo Han is just there, taking a heavy gun from the guard and unhesitantly opened fire at the bus driver who was flooring the pedal. He misses the driver's head and hits the headrest before firing again. The bus swerves and flips. The driver loses consciousness and Ga On (again!) jumps to the rescue. So, here the tone is set. We've got this "devil judge" who seems to be the ultimate modern day anti-hero who's given immense amount of power.
Much more interesting is that in this dystopian South Korea, we've got what seems like a publicly elected judiciary (or Kang Yo Han is perhaps the first?) and that has always been something that has been discussed in legal academic. Not the idea of electing the judiciary but that the argument of the judiciary not being publicly elected can be seen as slightly out of tune with democracy. (In legal academic, however, this is theoretically seen as being balanced by the separation of powers; ie. the executive branch (=government) and elected members of Parliament/Congress are supposed to be fully separated from the judiciary and should therefore never interfere with the judiciary. But, of course, these are all theoretical stuff. They look good on paper and when discussed in legal essays but in reality, it can often be different (if not, the exact opposite). This series takes things to yet another level by imagining the inception of a publicly televised and publicly voted trial.
This goes against the nature of trials in general because in our world today, the judiciary (wherever it may be) typically have mechanisms (ie. laws and codes) to prevent manipulation by media. The principle of fair trial requires that no external influence affects the process of adjudication (ie. the judgement by judges). There also tends to be avoidance of trial by public opinion because the way the law is interpreted and applied can be rather technical and different from what people may say or think about a certain trials, the decision delivered and also sentencing. Trial by jury is the nearest it gets but that too can be a fairly technical process which do also include considerations like avoiding a two-day trial to prevent influence by the media or other agents on a jury member's decision. (A recent drama mentioning this is Law School). The thing about this idea of trial by the public is that standards of morality can be very subjective and varies from person to person. Judgement by judges are not entirely free from the influence of morality, but the process is a litle more stable through the processes of interpretative practices, case precedents and legal theories. Previously in another Kdrama, Miss Hammurabi (2018), Judge Lim Ba-reun became slightly frustrated by his friend's comment that having a jury trial is like "true democracy" because the "people gets to decide" and he even thinks the judiciary should be elected too. Lim Ba-reun sarcastically said he must have loved every elected politican since they were elected by the public. He tells him grimly that no jury has ever found a policeman who had beaten up a Black man to be guilty. He also pointed out that Nazi, the Holocaust and Hitler were all supported by the public.
In this series, the premise allows all of these imaginings to be realised and played out. It is peak criticism, I think, when they portray the scenes of the TV producer being excited about the real-time ratings and viewer ratings. And also the scene of the broadcasting channel's chairman dancing in joy when he received realtime report of the ratings (vowing to treat his equally wealthy friends to a meal). Even when his other friend seemed appalled by the decision delivered by Judge Kang, the Chairman could not hide his joy in the skyrocketing viewership ratings. This really reminded me of the entire Produce 101 franchise which also heralded the shows for putting the decision in "The Nation's Producers" (ie. voters) and emphasised how it is the Nation Producers who put together ("produce") the National Kpop group that is bound for success and set to receive national love. All of this illusion collapsed (and the Korean franchise died along with it) when the court finds its producers guilty of voting manipulation. The Devil Judge seemed to have a similarly dramatic flair in its emphasis of TV production gimmicks, camera angles, cuts of a person's reaction, etc. The President of South Korea (who has a very light voice, a penchant for orotund speeches and a lack of concern for national policies) and all these top 1% of people tuned in were on the edge of their seats watching Judge Kang orchestrate this theatre of public trial. Kim Ga-On watched him closely and was sure that Judge Kang had something up his sleeves and was definitely up to no good, yet he couldn't tell. When he finally delivers a verdict (that yes, this was a case of professional negligence and not negligent homicide), Ga-On was crestfallen and frustrated because it carries a mere 5 year imprisonment maximum. But Kang turns the table and brings up the newly passed legislation which allows accumulative sentence which then resulted in 235 years of imprisonment.
This sounded very much like how some Korean netizens had previously wondered (online) why Korea couldn't have a sentencing system like the US where the years of imprisonment can go up to 100 years or 500 years. Again, this was like realising an alternative South Korea that many have perhaps tried imagining. Episode 1 ends with Judge Kang stepping down from his high seat when a victim's family member bowed deeply with her hands clasped, as though in prayer, and even kneeled to him. This corresponded well and tied perfectly into the religious/godlike imagery represented in the justice's robes which is reminiscent of the pope's robes and resembles a priest's robe, and the app they named DIKE or Diety of Justice (正義의 神). When Judge Kang hugs the old woman with a compassionate smile, teary eyed and full of empathy, he ends up yawning barely a minute into consoling the weeping woman. Ga-On witnesses this and realises, all of this must have been a gimmick after all. He had his hopes up when Judge Kang serves the sentence of 235 years. The episode ends.
I think this series is set to be a great one. (Just as Law School was amazing too!) It has tons of stuff to unpack, lots that goes into the cinematography and camerawork. While characters do seem a little more like caricatures rather than realistic people that are properly fleshed out in the narrative, there is still promise to push beyond these caricatures. I think there is also a lot in the imagery of dystopia and the constant bombardment of messages from the government (which is often the mainstay of dystopian fiction) which emphasises a certain narrative which they want the people to believe. For example, Kim Ga-On is travelling up the escalator when there were ads of the DIKE app, ads on electronic billboards on the justice system, paper posters plastered in the dark backalley where a high school girl is being dragged away by two men saying "The government will now create a safe South Korea". That last one is perhaps the most glaring one to me because when I was in Korea, it was repeated to me by different Korean individuals: "Your things are safe. No Korean will steal it. (Not sure about foreigners though!) You are safe. Crimes don't happen. I checked and there are no sexual offenders living in this neighbourhood." But... spycams can be anywhere. Men secretly follow women to their homes and try to break into them. Sexual harassment can happen anywhere. Robbery and theft can happen.
Personally, my paranoia and anxiety won't ever let me believe such words. No narrative, self-made or otherwise, can convince me enough to think that I am in a safe place. I would always have a nagging thought at the back of my mind telling me danger can be lurking just about anywhere. I think Koreans today do have high levels of confidence in their country. Most people do think it is safe to be walking around in the dead of night without any worry. (Again, I do not quite share the sentiment.) But this is a kind of self-made narrative because I also know my countrymen who travel to other countries like the UK and say "I feel absolutely safe walking the streets in the dead of night while I won't feel the same in my own country" when those are simply ideas they've planted into themselves through the mindset that [This country is better than my country and therefore safer.] There is absolutely no correlation between a "better" country and crime rates (or potential of becoming a victim of crime). Not to mention, being an Asian in a Western country sets you up as a likelier victim of hate crime...
So, I was saying.... This narrative of "safe Korea" is already existing in South Korea today. The need for mass surveillance or a spycam detecting task force in public toilets don't add up with a "safe country" image but the sentiment planted into the people seems to be strong despite all of this. However, Koreans do call South Korea "Hell Joseon". Youth unemployment can be a concern is a country like South Korea and a graying population, increasinly empty gray towns like the one mentioned in the series are all concerns which are ever-present in the public conscious. The mention of plauge and unemployment too must be a major concern now. In a rather similar vein, this narrative of DIKE or trial by the public through app voting creates a sentiment that people can take into their own hands and deliver justice. But what about the people at the margins of society who are homeless and do not own smartphones? What is this concept of democracy that places power in the hands of people? Is it a mere illusion or is power really in the hands of people?
..................................................................................................
(A side note on how the indicted chairman of the company responsible for mass poisoning of an entire town had brushed off concerns about a failing filtration system and the move of industrial plants to Southeast Asia. As a Southeast Asian, it is also something on my mind how South Korea has moved out of China and moved most of its plants to Southeast Asia for cheap labour. But what about the pollution here, the appallingly low wages they pay Southeast Asians (both white and blue collars!) in comparison to the few Korean expat managerial staff or engineers they station out here? I remember how I was at the hospital at 2 am and a small group of blue collar workers in their work uniform came in with their injured colleague; this can only mean they were at work past midnight due to some accident and we are still in the midst of the pandemic. What kinds of welfare and benefits are these blue collars provided with?)

Helsa Week day 4: fantasy
(I was trying to finish this last night so i could post it in time, but the words just did not want to go)
Backstory: Everyone is fairies. Elsa is the seelie Winter Queen, while Anna is the Queen of Summer (Rapunzel and Merida are Spring and Fall, respectively). The Queens have all decided to take Knights, loyal fairies who will protect them and help them enforce peace between the courts. The unseelie fey all choose members of their own courts as knights, but the seelie decided they would choose a knight from the opposing season’s court in order to strengthen their relationships.
(Fairy lore: basically seelie are the fairies who would help guide lost children out of the woods, and unseelie are the fairies who would lure unsuspecting travelers to their doom for funsies.)
(Story notes: The seelie and unseelie each have their own 4 seasonal courts, with their own Queens., and there are specific names for each. The relevant ones are: unseelie Summer = The Blazing Court, seelie Summer = the Dawn Court, and seelie Winter = the Dusk Court)
As this part of our story begins, Queen Anna has been traveling around the realm of Winter searching for a suitable knight. But every time she met a promising candidate, something went wrong. It was eventually discovered that the culprit was a young man of noble lineage from the unseelie court of Summer, who had snuck into Anna’s realm and attempted to court her in order to win the position of her Knight...
“But why would you choose a knight from another court? That’s not-“
“Just because the unseelie Queens have chosen knights from their own courts does not mean we are beholden to do the same.” The Winter Queen said. “And that is no excuse for you to sabotage my sister’s quest to find her knight.”
The redhead protested. “But I could have been-“
“Enough!” The Queen turned away, her crystalline cape glittering as it swayed around her. “Go back to the Summer courts of the unseelie at once, Hans! That is, unless you would prefer to stay here in Winter eternal as my servant.”
“…I would. Prefer that. Actually.”
The Queen looked back in confusion. Surely she could not have heard that right?
But the young unseelie man looked at her with quiet determination. “If it is possible…I would serve out my punishment here. I would rather endure a thousand winters as a servant than one more day as a noble among my brothers in the Blazing Court.”
The Queen was at a loss for words. A Summer fairy, wanting to stay here? There was a reason she had not yet gone to Anna’s court, despite her sister’s urging. Although she agreed strengthening the bonds between their courts by appointing a knight from the opposing season was a good idea in theory, deep down Elsa feared that no fairy from her sister’s land of sunshine and laughter would ever choose to live in her own land of ice and quiet.
Maybe…this would be a good test run. If this one could survive in her lands, perhaps there really was a Summer fairy out there willing to become her knight.
“Very well, then. You shall stay here, child of Summer.”
Who am I kidding? She thought to herself as he was led away. In a few weeks he’ll be begging to go back to his brothers.
---
It had been a few weeks, and another few weeks yet.
And the young man had shown no desire to leave.
Where other fairies of other courts would have been put off by her people’s stoicism and bluntness, Hans had adapted his way around it, speaking just enough to fill the silence but never so much as to be a nuisance. Where others would have complained about the endless cold, Hans just bundled up tighter and endured it (although he did take more trips to the hot springs than most). And when others would have compared her lands endlessly to Summer’s beaches and Spring’s gardens and Fall’s woodlands and found them wanting, Hans could be found staring out at the vast mountains of snow and ice for hours.
“It’s quiet.” He explained to her.
“And that doesn’t bother you?” She asked.
“I have twelve older brothers. My whole life I’ve been surrounded by noise, yelling and screaming and fighting and clashing. This…is peaceful. I feel like I can breathe again.”
She left him there, gazing out the windows, and did not ask for more.
---
“The gathering of the Four Seelie Queens shall now commence!”
“Elsa!” Anna yelled from across the room, bounding up to catch her sister in a hug. Elsa accepted it warmly, nodding to Kristoff in greeting.
“How have you been?” She asked the two of them. “She hasn’t been too much trouble, I hope?” She directed to Kristoff playfully.
Kristoff grinned sheepishly. The former grumpy icecutter had been roped into escorting Anna around when she was searching Winter for a candidate to be her knight, but the two of them had bonded against all odds and he was now her Summer’s knight. “Well, you know Anna. Never a dull moment with her.”
“And the weather?”
“Still getting used to it, as is Sven. But I’m fine. It’s worth a few sunburns to be able to…” stay with her went unspoken, as he glanced at Anna softly and she giggled and took his arm. Elsa felt a pang of something like envy, but she fiercely pushed it down.
“How is…” she waved her arm and glanced towards the other Queens. The Spring Queen Rapunzel was laughing softly, leaning her head on her knight. (Rapunzel had been the first of them to find her knight, and it had all started with Eugene trying to rob her, not knowing the girl in the carriage trundling through the woods was secretly royalty.)  Sir Eugene was preoccupied between playing with her hair and trying to fix his, as usual. And next to them was…
“Wait…Merida found a knight?!”
Anna chuckled as she glanced in their direction. “Yep!”
“But she’s…”
“Merida? Yeah. But it as it turns out, she somehow happened to find the one fairy in Spring as uninterested in romance as her, who was also willing to help her deal with all the boring administrative stuff she never wants to do.”
Elsa looked again. Unlike the other two pairs, Merida and her new Knight seemed more interested in leaning on each other and gossiping than stealing longing glances. They looked…comfortable. (And it wasn’t like there was actually a rule that said a Queen and their knight had to be romantically engaged, she supposed.)
“…Good for her.”
“Uh-huh! Soooo…what about you~?”
Elsa looked back at Anna. “Me?”
“You’re the only one who hasn’t…you know. You should come over later. I’ve been thinking about…is that Hans?!”
Elsa looks behind her. She’s so used to seeing Hans among the other members of her inner court by now, she’d forgotten that he wasn’t always there. “He’s been…serving out his punishment with me.”
“Wait, so he’s like, living with you?”
“You let him in the palace?!” Kristoff sounded scandalized.
Elsa shrugs awkwardly. “He’s been…behaving himself?”
Anna looked at Hans again, then back at her, like she was trying to figure something out. The intense scrutiny started to make her feel nervous. “Is…is this a problem?”
“No, not if he’s getting punished like you said, but…Elsa. You’ve been so worried about if any Summer fairies would actually want to stay with you – and don’t give me that look, I know that’s why you keep putting this off – and yet, you’ve been letting this guy live in Winter for months and it’s fine?”
“He…” Elsa hesitated, unsure of what to tell her. The sound of more trumpets below them interrupted her.
“Hear ye, hear ye! The gathering of the Unseelie Queens commences! Get in line, people!”
The floor beneath their feet rippled and changed, the barrier becoming clear. Below them, the four Queens of the unseelie courts and their Knights gathered. The chattering on their side stopped, tension filling the air.
The seelie Queen of Winter met the eyes of her unseelie counterpart through the barrier, as she knew the other Queens were doing. Slowly, she bowed. The unseelie Winter Queen held her gaze for a minute, her eyes a cold reflection of Elsa’s own, but she then bowed back. The tension lessened. The truce was upheld for another season.
“Excuse me.” Elsa murmured to her sister and her knight, slipping away to get some space. Logically she knew that the unseelie Queens would never break the truce (they couldn’t; any harm that befell one Queen would come to her counterpart on the other side as well), but it always made her nervous. She rested against the wall for a moment, watching as the party slowly resumed and the fairies on either side of the barrier began traveling back and forth, trading greetings and stories.
“Well, they didn’t waste any time in getting noisy again.”
Elsa turned to look at the man next to her. He glanced over at her with an unspoken question. Are you alright, your highness?
She wondered since when Hans had become so readable to her; or maybe it was another aspect of himself he seemed to be able to turn on and off at will. She made a non-committal noise of agreement, and he nodded and looked out at the gathering again. I’m fine, Hans.
“Your sister seems to be in a good mood.” Is she still mad at me?
“Probably just happy that she doesn’t have to listen to Merida complain about not wanting a Knight anymore.” I’m not sure.
“So even the Queen of Fall has a Knight now…” And what about you, Elsa? How long are you planning to put this off?
“They seem to get along well. I’ll have to have her introduce me properly later.” I’m not answering that.
“Hmm…” You can’t run from this forever, you know…
“Is that you, little scrubfire?!”
Hans flinched, and his eyes grew wide as he turned towards the source of the voice; a man with similar eyes to his and a smile with too many teeth. He brandished a sword slung over his shoulder, the emblems on his chest gleaming.  The unseelie Knight of Summer, Elsa thought to herself.
---
Elsa understood why Hans hadn’t wanted to go back now, if this was what was waiting for him.
The Knight was one of Hans’ older brothers, and once he found Hans the rest of them had swarmed him like a school of sharks seeking prey.
“We thought the Dusk Queen had frozen you up like a statue, or dumped you in a lake!” one of them laughs, in a tone that indicated he wouldn’t have cared much either way.
Elsa just stood and watched. She shouldn’t care, she knew. After all, this man had selfishly tried to disrupt the peace between their lands just so he could try and trick her sister into making him her knight. But the man who at any other time would have been easily quick-wittedly trading barbs with whoever insulted him, was frozen, looking down at his feet and slumping into the wall like if he made himself small enough maybe they would go away.
“Hey, weren’t you gonna become a knight up here?
“Ha! That brat couldn’t become a regular knight, let alone a Queen’s Knight!”
“I’ll bet they took one look at him and laughed right in his stupid face!”
“Like he could ever be anything important!”
“That’s enough!” Elsa growled, unable to stand by and watch any more. She put herself in between Hans and his brothers, at them.
“Hans is a member of my court now, and I will not stand for him being disrespected this way!”
She could feel Hans eyes staring at the back of her head with surprised gratitude and relief.
---
It had taken Anna stepping in and summoning the unseelie Summer Queen herself to get Hans’ brothers dragged back to their own realm.
“You didn’t have to do that.” He muttered nervously.
“They were harassing you.”
He just shrugged.
“…Are you…alright?” Anna asked a bit awkwardly. Hans turned to her, sighed, and bowed deeply.
“Thanks for stepping in, your Highness. And…let me take the opportunity to apologize for my earlier actions against you. Had I known that there were people up here kind enough to protect me from my brother’s cruelty without asking anything in return, I would never have acted so rashly and almost upset the balance between your kingdoms.”
“Umm…yeah. You’re welcome.” Anna glanced at Elsa, then back at Hans, a small smile beginning to form on her face. “You seem different, after living with my sister. It’s a good different.”
“Well, I, uh, yes. That is. I.” Was Hans…blushing?
Anna giggled, her smile turning into a full-blown smirk. “Ooooh, I see how it is.” She patted Hans on the shoulder. “Welllll~, I suppose I can forgive you; if you promise to be good to her and lay off on the scheming. We can’t have future Knights running around causing any more unrest now, can we?”
“Yes. Wait, what?!”

I’ve actually been playing with this au for a while now...well, not an au really, more like I just based the fairy queens in my fantasy/D&D setting on Disney princesses because it was fun. The only oc is Merida’s “knight”, because I didn’t really want to “pair her up” with anyone, so I just made up a character who would also have no interest in getting married and would also balance out her personality. Anyway, here are some designs.

VIXX 101: A Crash Course
inspired by this post
special thanks to @hongbins-wife for helping with ken and chiming in about hogbin’s dramas! & @poorunfortunateseouls for letting your inner ravi stan run wild, and opening up about your experiences with hyuk as your bias wrecker!
N/Cha Hakyeon
Tumblr media
also known as Leader N! (and sometimes mother cha) he’s the main dancer, and a proud parent. has the voice of a goddamn angel, and when he dances? let’s just say eros would be proud. he’s just so goddamn elegant and graceful I really don’t understand it? basically he’s protective and loving but also somehow seductive with his voice and body and everything? came up with stage name N! Inspired by ‘fate’ [in-yeon] in Korean, so the ‘yeon’ in ‘Hakyeon’ also took that form.
he’s very hardworking and eloquent in speaking for the group, and really he deserves all the love and recognition! he has darker skin than most of the members which sometimes he gets picked on about but he’s more confident about it (which is good because his skin is gorgeous) he also kept a diary when he was a trainee of his hopes and dreams and achievements and apparently it’s one of his most prized possessions! how fucking precious is that im gonna die
Leo/Jung Taekwoon
Tumblr media
the lead singer (my soul soars and my skin clears with each and every high note) and precious shy kitten. he may seem aloof sometimes because he doesn’t know how to react or is overwhelmed, but flowers actually bloom when this boy smiles (proof). he used to be really camera shy, but being in musicals (Monte Christo and Mata Hari) helped with that! and also helped in killing me because GODDAMN gorgeous does he look good in period clothing?
this boy loves his lattes (hence his nickname latte-fairy)! he’s the oldest member after N and they sometimes act like the parents of the group. knows taekwondo and won championships swimming and boxing?? loves children!! see his video with his nephew (melt my heart) and is easily embarrassed, which is when you are likely to see the top of his head. also a drama queen and is usually the target of Hyuk’s shenanigans (not that he doesn’t deserve it sometimes)
okay ill move on now or ill never stop. he’s my bias and he’s too precious and attractive and can move his body like nobody’s business (see chained up) kill me
Ken/ Lee Jaehwan
Tumblr media
main vocalist and king of aegyo! also called ken-jumma because he acts like an old woman sometimes. (but he also is called Power soul vocalist, Kenchopper, 4D Ken, Kenneth, and Kenyonce). he is incredibly extra and a goddamn sweetheart but then also turns around to stop starlights’ hearts? like for example being in the Boys over Flowers musical and apparently the Prince in Cinderella?? and recently Hamlet! he’s just really the most cheerful precious dorky flower ever ok and could probably make a rock laugh/blush
Ken is super suuuuper good at acting and I recommend checking out the musicals and dramas he’s been in! (that includes Boarding House #24 for a drama suggestion!)
Ken has two older brothers as well! His favorite foods include: instant foods and chocolate~ He’s also really great at drawing (he draws the little heads in the beginning of VIXXTV). Kenneth has also won multiple awards for song-writing. He wanted to become a voice actor if being an idol didn’t work out~
Ravi/ Kim Wonshik
Tumblr media
im gonna turn it over to my bestie @poorunfortunateseouls who is Ravi-biased and loves this goddamn dork:
alright, let the Ravi bias take over, *cracks knuckles*
vixx’s main rapper. Is well versed in the art of body rolling and spitting mad rhymes. Loves his cool, collected, and manly persona but will not kill any bug, they are his kryptonite. Protect this baby. Doesn’t know what shirts are. Is an avid shorts enthusiast. Tends to be put in stupid hats. Vixx song hype man. Adores saying his name before he raps, literally cannot resist saying his own name. Desperately wants love from all things, especially dogs, please love him, he can’t handle not being an animal’s favorite. Enjoys tattoos (YOLO. on his chest.) and having a flaming question mark on his face because he is secretly the riddler.
Abs. Just abs. Acts embarrassed but wants you to see them because damn they were hard to get and yes, you like them. Talents and works under-appreciated. Is incredibly dedicated to both his solo music and vixx’s tracks. Very thoughtful about the music he produces, hard worker. Has a great back and a killer face, watch out, he’ll snatch you with those raps of his and you will thank him because he is lovely. (also he’s in love with Ken. but can you really blame him?)
Bean/ Lee Hongbin
Tumblr media
precious cinnamon roll, literal human sunshine! the visual of the group, has a range so low it shakes me to the bone, and in general ruins my life with his goddamn dimples and that time he had pink hair?? he also took a photography class? looks absolutely drop dead gorgeous as a girl. is a giant dork and once said he was wearing green because he was a bean
is literally the sweetest? Leo fell during a race and bean ran over and cheered him to the finish line! giant Park Hyo Shin fanboy, which is precious, and knows a lot of girl group songs that he likes to sing along to. wanted to be a veterinarian if he hadn’t been a singer? how fucking precious is that? basically he’s a puppy in human form, but can be very savage, which is incredibly confusing
Hongbin also really hates couples but has had past relationships before debuting! HONGBIN IS ALSO A GREAT ACTOR??? LIKE ALL THE DRAMA’S HE’S BEEN IN I’VE NEVER SEEN HIM STRUGGLE???? (drama’s he’s been in are: Glorious Day, Moorim School, What’s Up With These Kids?,  and soon to be in the newest drama called ‘Wednesday 3:30pm’) He used to be an MC for SBS mTV’s ‘The Show’ from March 3rd, 2015 - October 13th, 2015 with T-ara’s Jiyeon and Super Junior’s Zhou Mi.
Hyuk/ Han Sanghyuk
Tumblr media
the maknae!! precious, dancer and also has a gorgeous voice. mesmerizes with his dance moves. sexy out of nowhere after him being so cute? also shot up and is one of the tallest members and constantly picks people up (especially Leo) because suddenly now he has muscles? likes to tease his hyungs and think he’s a grown man, which amuses everyone (especially Ken). he apparently once danced to Super Hero while he was sleeping and cosplayed as Sasuke from Naruto with his cousin!!
-Hyuk advocate and best friend chiming in again-
A problem. Seems like a small, innocent, silly baby but it’s part of his mischievous maknae game. Don’t fall for it. Stacked. That’s just science talking. A dork, wants to make people laugh and isn’t afraid to be silly. Great voice. Don’t sleep on his sexy vocals, boys got pipes. Impulsive but sweet. Is a ray of sunshine but will burn you as he flips from giggly boy next door mode to mr. steal yo girl in 3 seconds flat. Hard to pin down, needs to pick a lane because you will get whiplash staning this bulky man-child. Cute to dreamboat at the drop of a hat. And that hat is probably Ravi’s. (any hat)

fun facts:
- here are the origins of their stage names if you’re interested!
-look here for some of their interactions as a group and fall in love with all of them in the process probably
-VIXX stands for Voice, Visual, Value in Excelsis!!
- the fandom is called ST☆RLIGHT and are probably the most humble and respectful fans I’ve ever encountered!
- here are some incorrect quotes i’ve done with them if you want an easy way to try to get to know some of their personality traits!
if this creates any new starlights (or just makes you laugh) i will be very happy 🌟
share the love!
