Prompt: Mia is the curtis sister, exactly 11 months older than Soda and she hit a boy for trying to touch her in school and Darry won’t let her explain and instead tries to punish her, physically but she fights back and runs aways to New York and the gang doesn’t see her for a year until Dally finds her there.
Mia knew that she was screwed. She had just gotten suspended from school for punching a boy in the face for touching her. Now, it wasn’t like, he put his hand on her shoulder and she pushed him no, he tried to touch her somewhere else if you know what I mean. Darry and Soda were at work and Mia decided to walk home, knowing it would be her last time outside for a very long time.
Mia paused when she got to the door, debating not going inside, to just turn around and walk away and never come back, but she decided against it, turning the knob.
“What is wrong with you?” Darry yelled at her as soon as she opened the door, she winced hoping Darry wouldn’t have been home yet. Mia quickly looked around the room, seeing Soda and Ponyboy in the room too.
“He deserved it.” Darry gave Mia a look of utter disbelief.
“I highly doubt that.” Mia scoffed and raised her eyebrows,
“Somehow I’m not surprised.” Darry glared at her and Mia knew it was about to get bad.
“Pony,” She said, raising her hand to the door, “Go to the lot with Johnny.” Ponyboy looked at his sister worriedly but left nonetheless.
“Soda,” Darry said, “Go to Steve’s please.” Soda hesitated but knew Darry was mad and left as well. Darry took a step towards Mia and raised his hand, about to hit Mia,
“Go ahead, try to touch me like he did. I dare you.” Darry faltered but went ahead and swung his hand anyway, but Mia caught it and snapped his arm backwards. Then she kicked him in the stomach, she dropped Darry’s arm and ran out of the door.
The gang didn’t see Mia again for a year, and her brothers were worried sick, Soda and Pony blamed themselves for not staying but they blamed Darry the most. When Dally disappeared about a month ago, everybody just kinda assumed he was picked up and thrown back into the cooler, but he wasn’t. No, he found Mia. She became apart of the greasers up in New York and when he got word that Mia Curtis was climbing the ranks, he had to go see if it was her. It was. Dally has spent the last month convincing Mia to come back, he finally got her too when she find out that Sodapop had been cheated on by a girl he’d been dating (Not Sandy). No matter how much she tried not too, she missed her brothers.
“Darry! Dally just called, said he’d be back by tomorrow. And he’s bringing a surprise.” Ponyboy yelled, the whole gang, who were at the Curtis house, looked at Pony.
“What kind of surprise would Dally bring?’ Two bit asked.
The next day at about 4, Dally stopped by the DX, where Soda and Steve worked, seeing as Soda and Ponyboy were the people Mia really wanted to see.
“Dally! Man, where you been?” Soda asked, Dally smirked at him,
“I was up in New York, and look who I ran into man.” Dally stepped to the side, revealing Mia.
“Mia!” Soda practically leaped over the counter and tackled his sister into a hug.
“What’s up Soda?”
“Now, tell me about the broad who broke my baby brothers heart?” Soda chuckled and pulled away from Mia, looking at her, he could tell that New York had changed her. She dressed more like Dally now, had a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and a scar on her neck.
After about 30 minutes of talking with Soda, Mia went and waited until she could pick up Ponyboy from school, she was leaning against Dally’s car next to him. Ponyboy walked out and noticed her immediately, dropping his school books, making Curly Shepard look at him weirdly, and ran into his sister’s awaiting arms.
It took Dally, Soda and Ponyboy to convince Mia to go back to the house, where Darry and the rest of the gang were waiting for Dally. The boys walked in the door first, Mia stepping in after them, her red painted lips twitched up into a smirk when everybody freezes. She takes a long drag of her cigarette,
“How’s it goin’.” Instantly it’s chaos, different people hugging Mia, yelling at her and asking her where she’s been. She shot Dally a help me look, but he just smirked and shrugged.
“Mia,” Darry’s voice rang out through the house, silencing everyone else, Mia took an instinctive step back towards Dally. A flash of hurt appeared momentarily on Darry’s face but disappeared quickly,
“Where on earth have you been?” The whole gang looked to Mia, also wanting to know,
“New York. Dally found me about a month ago, hung around for a bit and finally convinced me to come back home.” Mia was obviously not telling the whole truth, but she chose to leave some stuff out, like what she did in New York and how she got that scar on her neck.
“That’s where you disappeared too.” Johnny said, “We all kinda assumed you got thrown back into the cooler.” Johnny looked sheepish, but Dally just shrugged,
“It’s what I would've assumed to. Don’t sweat it kid.” Johnny looked slightly relieved to know Dally wasn’t mad at him.
“Sis,” Soda stated, “Where did you get that scar?” He gestures to the long, jagged white line on Mia’s neck. Mia sighed then plopped down onto a chair,
“Take a seat boys, this is gonna take a while.” Soda looked at her in worry, sitting down as close to Mia as possible.
“When I first got to New York, I swiped a couple wallets, and stayed at a crappy motel for a week or so, but then I tried to swipe the wrong guys wallet. Turns out he was the leader of the greaser gang up there. All I had to do was throw Dally’s name out and I was accepted into their ranks. But you see, some guys up there weren't huge fans of Dallas’. So they decided since they couldn’t get to Dally, they would get to me. They held me at knife point, going on and on about how Dally deserved to die and anyone who was friends with him or cared anything about him deserved to die too.” If it was possible for Dallas Winston to look guilty, he did right now, “But while they were rambling, I was slowly reaching for the switch Two-bit got me for my 15th birthday. They noticed before I got there all the way, started cutting but I grabbed my switch and stabbed one of them in the leg and the other in the arm. I told Austin, the leader, and he had them killed.” All of them looked at her in shock, “Yeah, greasers up there ain’t no joke.” Mia light up another cigarette and took a drag
“There’s the first story of many, boys. But I’m tired of telling stories and I hear there’s a party at Buck’s tonight, so I’m going to that with Dally.” Darry tired to interrupt but Sodapop interrupted him,
“Oh don’t you even start. You’re the reason she ran off in the first place. And in case you forgot, she now 18 meaning she can do whatever she damn well pleases!” Darry stared at Soda in shock, he’d only ever seen his little brother this mad once before, when the socs got Johnny. Soda then calmly stood up and walked over to where Mia and Dally were standing,
“I ain’t got to work tomorrow, I’ll go with you.” Steve shrugged got up and announced he was going to. Two-bit also wanted to go, for the booze obviously. Darry forbid Ponyboy from going but, all it took for him to break was Mia and Sodapop glaring at him. So, that’s the time the Curtis gang and Curly shepard crashed Buck’s party. The next morning when everyone woke up in various places in Buck’s house. Mia was nowhere to be found, just as everybody started panicking again, she walked in the door, miraculously not looking hungover, holding two bags full of food.
“You are a lifesaver.” Sodapop moaned as he stumbled over to Mia. She let out a short laugh, shoving the bags of food into Soda’s hands, then she went and sat next to Dally, who was also not very hung over.
“Those idiots.” Mia sighed shaking her head watching the gang fight over the food, Darry even let Ponyboy have a few drinks last night. Not enough to get him drunk, but he was hungry so he fought for the food too. Dally laughed, offering Mia a cancer stick, which she accepted.
“How are you not hung over?” Two-bit asked, taking a bite out of the burger he managed to score. Mia smirked,
“I didn’t drink like it was my lifeline.” Two bit glared at her, making Dally and Mia laugh.
“Eat up boys, we’ve got something to do in an hour!” Then Mia and Dally were gone.
“I don't remember making plans.” Darry said, Ponyboy snorted,
“Yeah, I'm not surprised.” Darry glared at him, but he knew it was true. Sodapop groaned and put his head in his hands,
“Whose idea was it to bring out the tequila?” Steve laughed at his friend,
“Yours.”
“I hate me.” They all laughed, then winced, too much noise.
