i laugh because his da verse is essentially “ancient elven prince got stabbed, his people tried healing him by putting him in a magically induced coma, locked him in a magical box, forgot about him, & the inquisition finds him years later & thought it was a good idea to open the box.

I played through jaws of hakkon again and EVERY TIME I finish the “where we once walked” and hear Ameriden’s Telana memory I get riled up because WHY..
did they shoehorn in a direct and translation of “tela’nadas” (nothing is inevitable) UNLESS it was to put rest to that specific, word-for-word translation being commonly attributed to solas’ response, “banal nadas” (possibly: the void/end is inevitable, an unfortunate inevitably/it must be done) to the nightmare demon in the fade.
Further support of this key difference in the meaning of the two phrases lie in:
The romanced inquisitor angry reaction to trespasser conclusion- “ma lasa banal ghilana!” (You lied to me/you led me astray, or more literally, you gave me bad/poor guidance)
Solas’ own admission, regarding his personality- “I AM grim and fatalistic” He’s not an optimist. He hears the nightmares taunts and responds with, “it is what it is,” because ya boy effed up miserably and is just doing his best with what he has.
And like I never wanted to argue this so when I last made a post about the revelation YEARS AGO someone said “it can be both” and I went with it because I’m not really big on discourse BUT IT CANTBE BOTH OKAY, they are representative of entirely opposing ideals and all I have as proof are these two points and the click of it all coming together in my brain that grinds against the thought that it’s being misinterpreted ever, even once.
So yeah, I think certainly ‘banal’ is literally translated as ‘Nothing’ but capital nothing, as in “The nothing” or “the void” which means that using it as a descriptive word or prefix would just give negative connotation to the following word or phrase, hence: “You gave me poor guidance!/you misled me!” (Ma lasa banal ghilana) “the end is inevitable/an unfortunate inevitability” (banal nadas)
Where as “tel” means ‘nothing’ as in “no thing” “not a thing” “none” so instead of negative, the connotation is nullifying, hence: “nothing is inevitable” (tela’nadas) “no apologies!/you’re not sorry!” (Tel’abelas!)
Also, Netflix, BioWare, Jesus, whoever, please, a show about inquisitor Ameridan next time you feel like doing a whole animated dragon age project. 🙏 absolution was great and after seeing it and playing jaws of hakkon I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED

Hi! I'm playing JoH for the first time and I came across this codex entry "The Hunt of the Fell Wolf", which I'm pretty sure describes and encounter between solas and Ameridan. I feel like there's sooo much foreshadowing in that single entry. Idk if you've discussed this before but I'd love to hear your take on it :)
Hi! Ohhh yes! :O I do know that codex and I remember actually gasping out loud when I read it again on my second playthrough and AGAIN even more so after reading Tevinter Nights! 😂 Thank you so much for the ask, I hadn't thought about this in a while! *rubs hands*
There is quite a lot of super interesting stuff and potential hints in there, but I also feel like it heavily depends on how you interpret the story and I've actually seen many different interpretations in the past.
But let's reiterate real quick.
For those who don't know, "The Hunt of the Fell Wolf" is a tale written as a poem about former Inquisitor Ameridan and his friend Haron who fought and ultimately defeated a beast in the form of a demon wolf. The codex can be found in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC, near the location where you find Kenric's assistant Colette. It's also quite long, here's a link to the whole thing. So let's take a closer look. :)
First off, before getting into it, I think you're totally right in that it's only natural to conclude, after reading the entire thing, that the beast described in this tale is most definitely the Dread Wolf, right? It seems almost too much on the nose, looking at the words used to describe it, especially given what we know now after Tevinter Nights. So overall, like you've said, this has to be about Ameridan fighting Solas then, right? Well, I have to argue that a bit. 😁 Yes, the similarities and parallels are almost uncanny. But remember, this is only a tale. And this is where different interpretations come into play.
Because what I think this is (or what would be the most interesting possibility here imo) and what actually seems to be the most popular assumption, that this tale should not be taken in a literal way, in that Ameridan actually encountered and fought Solas once, as that would appear kinda strange, given that the story (talking specifically about Ameridan's part here and not Haron's, but we'll get to that 😁) seemed to have taken place in the waking world and not in the Fade, but what if this whole tale can instead be read as some form of metaphor or like you've said, foreshadowing for what might happen in DA4? (..And probably just the devs again having a blast to tease us with yet another vague hidden clue in some codex entry, goddamnit 😂).
The thing is, if there's anything that can be taken from all of Jaws of Hakkon, it's that Ameridan's story, now entirely misremembered by the history books, and the current Inquisitor's story mirror each other in many different ways.
That being said, there are three main characters in this story.
Ameridan, Haron and the wolf.
Before I go into the details of the tale, let's put on our tin foil hats for a second and assume that this whole tale really is a metaphor for what might happen in DA4, in which Ameridan's role is that of the Inquisitor (quite literally) and the wolf is Solas, which leaves us only with the question of who Ameridan's friend Haron is supposed to be.
Now, I'm not the first one to say this, but let's just go crazy and say that Haron's role in this tale is that of the next protagonist. Because it makes for some very interesting ideas and it's fun to think about (and DA4 is not coming out any time soon, so what else are we gonna talk about 😂)!
So, with ALL of this in mind (and the tin foil hat still on), let's dive into it.
Okay, so the tale starts off with a panicked woman running up to Ameridan and his friend Haron, telling them about a terrible beast they've seen in the moors.
"Upon the lonely moors," the runner cried, "A loathsome beast now dwells. As day gives way to night, it strikes. All in its path, it fells."
Ameridan and Haron are then being lead to the beast that turns out to be a wolf with very familiar features.
Favored like a wolf it was, In size like a Woodsman's Death. Within its eyes burned eldritch fire, The Fade in every breath.
So, to sum this up. A giant demon in wolf form, only striking at night when everyone's asleep, who has burning red eyes and "the Fade in every breath". If that doesn't sound like the Dread Wolf, I don't know what does.
Swift as thought, the hunters struck. The demon wolf fell back, But mortal strength alone could not Prevent the beast's attack.
So Ameridan and Haron try to fight it, but "mortal strength alone could not prevent the beast's attack". We've already seen a glimpse of what Solas is now capable of in Trespasser and Tevinter Nights and if that is anything to go by, it will need something far beyond mortal strength to counter these god like powers.
Ameridan is then struck by the wolf, sending him flying across the moor in a watery grave, leaving Haron alone with the wolf.
Jaws like a dragon's clamped down tight Round Haron's armored chest, And with the knight it sped away From moonlight, to the west.
The wolf then takes Haron with him, vanishing into the night, leaving Ameridan behind in the believe that his friend is dead, so he swears vengeance by killing the wolf and taking its head.
So I take it, Solas will just kidnap the next protagonist in DA4 like they're Bowser and Peach and Inquisitor Super Mario has to rescue them, only to realize that the princess is in another castle. lmao
Notice the dragon connotations here, much like the description of the Dread Wolf in Tevinter Nights. I'm curious as to why the wolf chooses to take Haron rather than killing him instantly though. A hint at Solas still being redeemable?
Whilst the wolf across the moor Bore Haron to its lair, A labyrinth of winding cave Any mortal should beware.
The wolf takes Haron to its lair and now it's getting interesting. The most popular assumption seems to be that "the labyrinth of winding cave any mortal should beware" is referring to the Deep Roads. But why would Solas go there of all places? Well, the answer might actually be right up in the next verses.
Haron manages to free himself from the wolf's jaws and strikes it in the eye, leading it to cry out in pain and flee into the dark.
The wounded knight in darkness Found within the cavern's gloom An idol of fade-touched stone, Which could prove the monster's doom.
Woah okay, WOW. This can't be a coincidence, right? It's so on the nose that it's almost baffling. Remember how we first found the red lyrium idol with Varric in the Deep Roads in DA2. And since then, the idol has only gotten more and more attention, whether it's the lastest comics, the very first DA4 teaser in 2018 or the entirety of the last chapter in Tevinter Nights. And here it is again, in a codex entry from 2015.
"An idol of fade-touched stone, which could prove the monster's doom."
Whether you believed the Bard's story at the end of Tevinter Nights or not, it is certain that Solas needs the idol for whatever he's planning. But what if he's so desperate to get it, because it's the only thing that could make him vulnerable? His weak spot so to speak?
Back to the tale, while Haron found the idol, Ameridan followed the wolf's tracks, which lead him to the cave where he finally finds the wolf again at the cavern's end.
With burning blade, Ameridan And monster met again Whilst elsewhere did Haron valiantly With demon-wards contend.
As demon-stone was shattered, Ameridan struck true: Beast and spirit—both felled at once, Though neither hunter knew.
This has to be the most intriguing part!
The way it's written, you would think that what's happening here is Ameridan striking the wolf with his sword as Haron elsewhere destroys the idol at the same time and only through this combined effort, the wolf can ultimately be defeated.
But what stood out to me here was this line:
"Beast and spirit - both felled at once"
It sounds like two seperate entities who are connected in a way they can only be defeated by killing both at the same time. Beast and spirit... in two different places... as in the physical body and the spirit maybe? As in the waking world and the Fade?
What if Ameridan struck the wolf's body in the waking world as Haron killed the spirit in the Fade? And what on earth could all this imply for DA4 then, if we are still applying all this to the Inquisitor, Solas and the next protagonist?? 👀 Is this how we can stop him? The Inquisitor confronts Solas in the waking world, while the next protagonist has to fight the Dread Wolf in the Fade? Or what if it's the other way around? Sooo many possibilities here. 😂
I won't go into the whole theory that assumes that the creation of the Veil lead to the separation of the ancient elves' bodies and their souls/spirits, assuming that before the creation of the Veil, the Evanuris somehow made bodies from the Titans/lyrium for spirits to inhabit and then enslaved/bound them to their will by marking those bodies with their vallaslin.
But, keeping all this in mind.. you have to wonder.. in all the murals, tarot cards and illustrations, the Dread Wolf and Solas are always depicted separately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I always liked to think that the Dread Wolf we see in the murals is a form that Solas himself can take on, but maybe that's not the case? Maybe the Dread Wolf is literally like his spirit animal (or demon animal, if you will lol)? Like a separate entity, that is still somehow part of him, connected through the Fade. We also have to keep in mind that before the creation of the Veil, the nature and connection between spirits/demons/physical forms/elves had to be something completely different than it is now... And who knows, maybe if Solas manages to tear down the Veil, it will all be reversed and everyone becomes one again? 😂
OR could all of this just be a metaphor for the Inquisitor in DA4 keeping Solas occupied to distract him from the next protagonist, while they can figure out another secret way to deal with him? It would definitely fit the whole "finding someone Solas doesn't know/never sees coming/underdog" narrative they've been going for.
OR am I just overthinking all this SO hard, because I'm so desperate to get some answers after such a long time and DA4 is not coming out any time soon and I'm slowly turning insane. 😂
Anyway, the tale ends with the wolf's death, Ameridan and Haron reunite and argue over who takes full credit for the defeat of the wolf.
So to conclude, there's a lot to take from this tale as far as speculations go, but it all depends on how you interpret it, really. 😁
Maybe some of this really happened after all and it was just Ameridan who had a really bad dream one night and all these parallels are just the devs messing with us. lol
(Oh and btw, it's also interesting to note that the location of this codex entry apparently moves to the final temple where you meet Ameridan if you take too long to complete the quest from Kenric's assistant, where you can find it originally. Seems like the devs went out of their way to make sure we would definitely find this tale, so there's that. 👀)
Again, thank you so much for the ask though! I hadn't really thought about this for a while and to revisit it after everything we know now was super interesting! :D But what do you guys think?

CALM DOWN INQUISITOR WILL BE BACK
okay there's people who are worried that Inquisitor wouldn't be in the next da, but Inquisitor definitely will be back, here's why (edited, I add another point about the red lyrium idol and my arguments against ALBEISM within the fandom)
Tumblr media
1.Solas
Solas , Solas is a very very personal person for The Inquisitor, don't know about you guys but Francois is Solas Bff and he seen Solas like a brother he never had and he promised that he doesn't want to kill Solas ,hell and it would be disrespectful for people who are still stuck in Solavellan hell if they didn't get Answers!!!
Based on information from Tevinter nights, INQUISITION AND INQUISITOR IS STILL VERY MUCH IN ACTION
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Solas literally gave message to charter to send his sorry to the Inquisitor , and Inquisition and Inquisitor have business in nevarra
2. Remember Josephine personal quest? Of somewhat a fallen fortune
Josephine literally said that when Inquisitor visited Antiva, the Montiliyet family would literally throw the biggest party as a thanks to The Inquisitor for helped The Montiliyet, and I'm sure antiva would be one of many northern country we will see, and based on Tevinter Nights (seems like qunari have a plan to fucking invade Antiva) and new DA4 tease of the female antiva crow, Antiva would be one of northern countries that would play a big role
Tumblr media
3. Dorian Romance
Tumblr media
Yeah no shit Dorian, you wanted to be with Inquisitor and Inquisitor also wanted to be with you, y'all better be get married ASAP, Tevinter would be one of major countries that definitely will play a hugeee role in whatever Solas doing right now.... And Inquisitor also stabbed Tevinter map with the war table knife at the event of exalted council , the next mission would be in tevinter everybody know that, if anything it's confirmed that Inquisition will move it's operation HQ to Tevinter, 'Some claimed to have seen The Inquisitor on the street of Minrathous on rare occasions, sneaking into the heart of Tevinter to aid his Amatus" It's fine to ask help from your lover Dorian....It's fiiinneeeeeee..... Hell I think Inquisition and Inquisitor moved to Tevinter, so Inquisitor can be closer with Dorian and for their missions........
Tumblr media
Well hello there Magister Pavus *wink*
Seems like Isabella, Dorian, that skeleton boi and that woman jumped into the sea to avoid arrows? Are they on a quest?
Besides The Inquisitor status as 'The Inquisitor's and Dorian Pavus lover ,a Magister of great influence and power definitely would tremendously help Inquisition and the new hero.
4. Song about Inquisitor
Maryden song is not just a song about Inquisitor glory, it's about fear and uncertainty of what's to come NEXT, and people who rely on The Inquisitor as their leader, people who place hope on the Inquisitor to guard them from darkness to come, this isn't a song about 'yaaayy the world is saved y'all can be happy and go back home's
Inquisitor is still the hero people rely on and needed to lead them against the future threats that definitely will threaten Thedas.....Again and....Solas (whhyyy T.T )
Inquisitor....Lyrics
A soldier, a savior
A hero, a leader
Inquisitor fought for our souls
A battle, a breach
The one we beseeched
To protect our lives and our homes
Now how do we follow
The battle is all but won
Peace can't last forever
Guard us from what's to come
Inquisitor, take your breath
A soldier, a savior
A hero, a leader
Inquisitor fought for our souls
A battle, a breach
The one we beseeched
To protect our lives and our homes
Now you all shall follow
The breach is all but closed
Light can't last forever
Guard us from darkness to come
A soldier, a savior
A hero, a leader
Inquisitor fought for our souls
Tumblr media
5. The ragtag people in DA teaser we have seen lacked resources power and support.
Hell even they are described as a bunch of people who wanted to change things but lacked the power to do so....Sounds familiar with Inquisitor and companions at the beginning isn't? Now Inquisition and The Inquisitor is a forces to be reckoned with, Inquisition is not actually disbanded, The Inquisitor and Inquisition simply refused to be collared by chantry and Orlais (ewww besides tf want to be collared by chantry and Orlais) and they went rogue, and Inquisitor once again will save the world, and need an agent that Solas doesn't know.....
Who can give those groups of people resources and chance to be something more? If anything Sutherland and company group of adventures is a foreshadow of the new ragtag bunch of groups, and who gave Sutherland and Co resources and chance? Inquisitor who believe in them. The Inquisition and Inquisitor is the only group that can give these people chance and resources they needed, and as foreshadowed and basically confirmed by The Inquisitor song, Inquisitor is the leader and boss of Inquisition and that new group.
Come on who's gonna trust them and give them resources if not Inquisitor and Inquisition? Even on the brink of destruction, state leaders always preferred to fights against each other rather than save the world and fix shits!!!! People like Gaspard and other state leader would prefer to perish on their throne rather than fixing problems they have.
6. Have you seen the red lyrium idol?
Link for proof that the red lyrium idol have three figures, and much more clearer picture of the red lyrium idol:
The red lyrium idol actually have three figures, Solas who's hugging mythal and Mythal who hugging him back (that figure dragon tail and crown? Come one that's Mythal) and hugging the third person behind them, and then there's the third person behind Solas and Mythal, a figure who lost their LEFT ARM! And we knew one person who have close ties with Mythal and Solas who also lost their left arm:
Inquisitor.
7.Stop ALBEISM within the fandom
I don't want to hear another person who think.... and absolutely believe that disabled people are helpless or cannot be relied on, stop that shit okay? It's just rude, and let me tell ya ladies and gentlemen and people of any other identities and genders , The Inquisitor is a badass hero, I have wrote in point 4 and 5 that The Inquisitor is the leader and hero people relied on and needed, and Inquisitor still kicking ass after the event of exalted council, Inquisitor is a seasoned hero and veteran, Inquisitor feats:
• killed Ten high Dragons
•killed Corypheus
• leading Inquisition Armies to fight against legions of red templar and many other Corypheus followers
• literally murdering demons here and there as if it's just a walk in the park
•sealing rifts all across Thedas
• survived time travel and psychically entered the fade
• Successfully ended Orlesian civil war , so The Inquisitor do have great talents in politics
• Darkspawn? Darkspawn is just another noob enemies The Inquistor eradicated with companions
• have seen Titan's heart and defeated it's guardian, survived deep roads
• defeated a mother fucking avvar god aka Hakkon Winterbreath
•probably surpassed Ameridan as Inquisitor
There's nothing that stop The Inquisitor to fight like a badass and to be in action, losing one arm can be solved with prosthetic ( there's Dagna) and I have said that in the red Jenny tresspasser slide, The Inquisitor have crossbow/hook arm,I don't know man Francois is one of the most powerful mage in Thedas? He's a mage. So the arm problem also definitely can be solved with magic!
Besides Inquisitor definitely would be boss of the new hero, Inquisitor is a capable and seasoned leader and veteran, who has been proven time and again as a legendary fighter (just like HoF and Hawke) and a great leader both in politics and military, I will make second post about my theory and covering Thedas newest political leaders and state also the continuity of this post.
And in conclusion
8. Double hero/ protagonist?
Duo/double heroes (Inquisitor and new hero) is the best way, the new hero need sponsor and resources , The Inquisition and Inquisitor need new agents, besides it's confirmed by the red Jenny slides (Inquisitor have prosthetic ) , tevinter nights, the song and romance with Dorian that The Inquisitor is still the hero and leader and still kick ass like a badass, it would be so great to see them disagreeing and agreeing about stuff, come on it would be so interesting to see dynamic of their approval, to see them interact with each other, and fight together.
They'll work so well together!!!!!
Seriously guys....Pavelyan romancer....Dorianmancer....It's all fine calm down....Inquisitor is back........
Sorry for grammatical mistakes.... I am south East Asian so English is like my third language and I try to fix typo here and there....
I am so excited.....I'm too excited

NOTES
ON MORALITY Anora is a phenomenal politician, but a questionable person in terms of her morality. I love her character and find her fascinating, but I won’t skim over that. Anora also is, objectively, not a particularly good queen during the Origins timeline – she does nothing to try and curb her father’s power, or Rendon Howe’s, and either doesn’t know that a foreign power is in Denerim and involved in an illegal slave trade, or doesn’t care. This will be addressed.
I also think it’s important not to shy away from the fact that Anora is ambitious, and ruthless. Whether it’s because she believes that only she can rule Ferelden effectively or it’s because she just likes power, these are important parts of her character. I don’t think it’s fair to judge Anora harshly for the things we celebrate in male characters, but I don’t think it’s fair, either, to absolve her of her faults or even potential cruelty in an attempt to correct the misogyny in fandom.
It’s also important to acknowledge that Anora has canonically shown prejudice against elves, shown primarily through her indifference towards elves, even though she would likely deny any prejudice if asked. This is another thing I won’t ignore or skim over. Anora is not a feminist character.
SHIPPING Because of Anora’s role, direct or otherwise, in the capture and sale of elves as Tevinter slaves, I am very uncomfortable shipping Anora with elves.
CANON COMPLIANCE
WORLDSTATE After she is overthrown by Alistair and the Warden, Anora is imprisoned, until she is exiled. Anora leaves for the Free Marches, where she is taken in by friends of the family ( by default, the Trevelyans ); while there, she enjoys some of the social privileges of nobility, alongside the shame of being removed from her throne. She swears to retake her country, certain that only she can lead with the strength and power that Ferelden needs. When her hosts are invited to take part in the Conclave, Anora attends with them, hoping to impress upon the Divine the need to remove Alistair from Ferelden’s throne in the wake of the violence and turmoil wracking the nation. She is the sole survivor from the explosion. She believes herself to be chosen by Andraste, fashioning herself almost as a second coming. For this main verse, Alistair must be king.
QUEEN OF FERELDEN I will also happily write Anora having remained the Queen of Ferelden; however, this verse will only be available on request, and will require some plotting. My main verse for Anora involves her becoming Inquisitor.
ON CAILAN The idea that Cailan would secretly arrange for a marriage with the leader of a foreign nation, particularly of a nation that once colonized Fereldan, and cast aside a well-beloved queen who is also the daughter of a national hero, and could and would do this without anyone being the wiser, just doesn’t work for me, so I ignore it. It wasn’t in the game, and I don’t super trust Gaider anyway, so I’m happy to assume it isn’t there.
PLEASE READ!
It’s totally okay if this isn’t your scene! I won’t be offended if you’re not interested in my portrayal of Anora, and I encourage you to blacklist her tags if you don’t like what I’m doing with her. I also encourage anyone who wants to have a discussion on this topic to reach out to me; I love talking about my inspiration for Anora, how I develop her, and the historical analysis and theory I use for the character’s backbone. To me, the most interesting things about Anora are her many faults, and how she weaponizes the very things for which people dismiss her, especially her womanhood. That means examining, as honestly and critically as I can, the manner by which Anora takes part in oppressing the elves of Ferelden, all of which is supported by canon material. I have studied medieval and early modern queenship extensively, and am drawing from not only canon, but from the historical influences from which canon drew. Please be an adult about this; nonstop vagueing and accusing me of misogyny when I point out Anora’s canonical racism isn’t the gotcha anyone thinks it is.

Fenris/f!Hawke and the Inquisition: Possessed
Chapter 49 of Lovers In A Dangerous Time (i.e. Fenris the Inquisitor) is up on AO3! Only an excerpt is here (8170 words); read the whole thing here on AO3.
In which the adventures in the Frostback Basin continue... 👀
******************
It was past noon by the time Fenris and his companions finally made their way back to the fishing camp. They’d ended up spending a couple of very damp hours in the swamp to the east of Stone-Bear Hold; it turned out that Storvacker was being held by a group of Hakkonites in an old Tevinter prison at the northern margin of the swamp. After freeing the bear – who had joined them in fighting the Hakkonites, to Dorian’s mixed horror and delight – Hawke and Dorian had discovered a number of very macabre skulls that reeked of blood magic, giving Fenris even more motivation to eliminate the Jaws of Hakkon.
They’d also rescued Colette, Professor Kenric’s research assistant, from a very angry gurgut, and Blackwall and Sera had accompanied her to a Tevinter ruin to the northwest while Fenris and the others went to investigate the island off the southern shore.
Dorian grimaced at the mud stains on his borrowed boots as they made their way along the winding trail out of the swamp. “Odd how many Tevinter ruins there are in this area, isn’t it? It is slightly warmer here than in the rest of the frigid south, but still. It’s a strange place for the Tevinters of old to try and establish themselves.”
“Kenric said the same thing,” Hawke said. “He mentioned this wasn’t a very good military spot, so maybe they were ritual sites or something like that instead.”
Fenris made a disgruntled noise. “Blood magic rituals, most likely. Sacrifices to the Old God Razikale, if that prison is anything to go by. The Tevinters likely came south seeking new victims for their nefarious plots for power.”
Cole blinked absently. “Praying, pleading, praising, but no answer and no help. They were very scared.”
Fenris raised an eyebrow at this, but Bull shrugged unconcernedly. “It seems like the Vints got their payback for settling so far south. Maybe the ancient Avvar sent them crying home to their mothers.”
Dorian wrinkled his nose at Bull, but Hawke spoke up. “Their timelines don’t match up, actually,” she said. “I’m pretty sure Kenric said the ancient Avvar came here much later than the ancient Vints.”
Fenris shot her an impressed look. “You really were listening to him.”
“Give me some credit. I’m not a complete idiot,” she retorted. Then she smiled suggestively. “Besides, listening to him is a pleasure. He has such a lovely Starkhaven accent, don’t you think? It’s like listening to Sebastian, but without the piousness and the ‘you shouldn’t spit sunflower seed shells in the Chantry’ lectures.”
Varric snorted a laugh while Fenris shook his head in mocking censure. Dorian shot them a funny look, then returned to the topic at hand. “Maybe the ancient Tevinters got cold and decided to head home to warmer pastures,” he suggested.
“That doesn’t sound very Tevinter,” Fenris said flatly. “Tevinters are more likely to dig their heels in and double down when they see that their schemes are failing.”
Dorian shot Fenris a debonair smile. “We are a stubborn bunch, aren’t we, Fenris? I would say it’s part of our charm.”
Fenris huffed. “I hardly count myself as Tevinter.”
Varric smirked at Dorian. “Ah, lay off of him, Sparkler, you’re going to make him start brooding.”
“I don’t brood,” Fenris complained.
Dorian laughed. “And there’s that homeland stubbornness I so adore.”
Fenris gave Hawke a long-suffering look. “Remind me again why you invited them to join us?”
Hawke pinched his chin affectionately. “Because you’re smiling. And I’d do anything to put a smile on that gorgeous face.”
Bull chuckled. “Keep it in your pants, little Hawke.”
Hawke laughed and shoved his arm, and they continued on their way back to the fishing camp. Less than an hour later, they were stepping off of the rowboat and onto the island.
Varric pulled a little face as he looked around. “That’s a lot of demons. Chuckles would be right at home.”
“Oh, they’re not demons, they’re just wraiths,” Hawke said dismissively. “This must be what that Rolfson fellow was so nervous about.” She started wandering toward the center of the island. “Damn, there really are a lot of them. This place must have seen a battle or something.”
Cole nodded. “They watched the dead and dying, pressing close, clustered to hear, and forgot how to go back.”
“Not exactly reassuring there, Cole,” Bull said flatly.
Fenris, meanwhile, was distracted by the buzzing in his left palm. The magical energy was rippling in a way that reminded him of being near a rift, but… different somehow. Not gentler, exactly, but less rhythmic than the usual harsh buzz.
Then Hawke was beside him. She brushed her fingers over his left wrist. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing is wrong, exactly,” he said. “Just… odd. I think we’re looking for a rift.”
“I think we’re looking for that,” Varric said. He pointed to a dilapidated cabin about two hundred paces away on top of a short hill, which was shimmering from within with a familiar green light.
“Oh, that looks about right,” Hawke said. She nudged Varric with her hip. “I knew there was a reason we brought you along.”
He huffed a little laugh, and they began to make their way across the desolate-looking island toward the cabin. They hadn’t gotten very far when Bull wrinkled his nose. “Anybody else smell sea air and spice?” he asked. “That’s… that isn’t right.”
“Your mind is being influenced by the spirits here,” Dorian said. “They’re drawing sorrow from you like you’d draw water from a well.”
Bull grunted. “Glad I asked.”
Fenris frowned at this troubling description. “Drawing sorrow from us? They are making us feel sorrow on purpose?” He scowled suspiciously at the surrounding wraiths. “That sounds like a demon’s work.”
Cole shook his head. “Not new. It was there already.” He looked at Bull. “Sorrow close to the surface, close enough to touch, like Tama’s lips on your forehead–”
“Okay, Cole, that’s enough for now,” Bull said gruffly.
Dorian ran a finger along Bull’s arm. “Don’t worry, amatus, I’ll keep you safe.”
“Thanks. I think,” Bull said, but his tone was slightly softer now.
Hawke turned to Cole. “You say the spirits here forgot how to go back. How does that happen?”
“They start off light, floating, fluttering close to taste,” Cole said. “But it seeps in, soaking and sinking until they stay. They’re heavy now. They don’t know they can be light.”
Dorian thoughtfully stroked his chin. “They almost sound like washcloths sinking in a bath.”
Cole nodded. “Sinking, soaking in sorrow. Yes.”
Hawke frowned. “Isn’t there some way we can help them get back to the Fade? Squeeze the sorrow out of them, so to speak.”
“They need to remember. To know,” Cole said. “To want to know, and then to go back.” He studied a nearby cluster of wraiths. “They’re not much. They don’t know they’re them. I know, but they’re not like me.”
“Oh,” Hawke said softly. “So… we can’t help them, then?”
Cole turned his vacant gaze to her. “If they were more, you could do more. But they aren’t.”
Hawke nodded, but her expression was downcast, and Fenris felt a pang of affection. Of course Hawke wanted to help even the simplest spirits. Despite her complaints about being the Champion of Kirkwall and her mocking commentary when they got sent running around on errands for the Inquisition, it had always been in Hawke’s nature to try and help – even if the people she was trying to help didn’t want it.
“You can’t save everyone,” he murmured.
“I know, I know,” she sighed. Then she shot him a chiding look. “I’m not the only one who needs reminding of that, though.”
He shrugged and looked away from her pointed gaze. She’d spent the last few months trying to convince him to let go of some of his Inquisition duties. But this wasn’t the time to discuss the matter yet again.
Just then, he heard a mournful woman’s voice drifting through the air. “Sleep. I need to… I must find you…”
A chill rippled down the back of his neck. The voice had the same odd echoing quality as that spirit of command in old Crestwood. A spirit’s voice, then?
Hawke clasped his hand, and he looked at her wide-eyed face. Before he could say anything, the mournful voice spoke again. “No, no, no… Ameridan? Ameridan, why? Vhenan, I’m… dreaming…”
“Ameridan?” Varric said. “Well, at least we’re on the right track.”
“I can’t,” the voice lamented. “Not without… This blood, my blood? No, I can’t…”
Fenris swallowed hard. Maybe it was the spirits on this island influencing him, but the spirit’s voice sounded incredibly sad – so sad that it was making a sympathetic lump rise in his throat.
They hurried toward the cabin at a faster clip. When they reached the cabin, it was to find a somewhat familiar sight: a sort of semi-rift, reminiscent of the one that had hovered half-open in the Temple of Sacred Ashes, way back when Fenris had first woken up with the anchor on his hand.
“It’s there,” Cole said.
“What’s there?” Dorian said. “The spirit who’s talking, you mean?”
“Yes,” Cole said. He looked at Fenris. “It wants to come through. It wants to help.”
Fenris nodded. He already knew what he had to do: open the rift completely, then seal it up properly. He could only hope that this mournful spirit would be the only one that came through the opened rift.
He held out his left hand and reached for the rift, pushing a hint of magic out of his mark instead of pulling it in. The space inside of the cabin bloomed with light for a moment, and a spirit materialized from the newly-opened rift.
“Hello!” Cole said.
The spirit fluttered in agitation. “Telana slept. I slept, to find him in dreaming. But I… the blood…” The spirit settled close to the ground in a hopeless sort of way. “Telana wanted to reach Ameridan again, one more time, but she couldn’t. I couldn’t. I died. I tried to stay, but only pieces came through.” It floated toward Fenris’s left hand. “You opened the sky for the rest of me.”
Fenris instinctively closed his fist. Then Hawke spoke to the spirit in a hushed voice. “You’re Telana’s spirit, then? Or… or a spirit that thinks it’s Telana, whoever this Telana is?” She looked askance at Cole.
“It hurts. She hurt,” Cole said. “The wraiths knew only the pain, but she knew why. Daring, dreaming into darkness, for Ameridan.”
The spirit drifted up. “Ameridan, yes! Inquisitor. Beloved. I… she came with Ameridan to hunt the dragon. Huge – power like none had seen. It came from the mountains with the Avvar. Towns fell, all dead. One last favour for Emperor Drakon: slay the dragon, save Orlais.”
“That’s what Ameridan was doing here, then?” Dorian said. “Hunting a dragon in Drakon’s name?”
Bull hummed thoughtfully. “A pretty damned big dragon, if this demo– spirit-thing is right.”
Varric scratched his chin. “Funny that the history books seem to have forgotten about this.”
His tone was slightly sardonic, but the spirit answered him anyway. “Not forgotten. Forbidden,” it said. “Darkspawn in the north, all of Orlais afraid. No one could know. ‘Orlais must stand unstained, no fear to falter. Please, my friend. For both our peoples.’” The spirit floated slowly toward the corner of the cabin. “They fought at the shore. Spirits and magic – cold, so cold. They rested here, then up the river. Metal spires: a way to stop the dragon. Then Telana returned here alone to wait for him.” The spirit drifted sadly down toward the ground. “Forever waiting. Dreaming… then dead.”
They were all quiet for a moment. Then Hawke kneeled beside the spirit. “I’m sorry,” she said softly. “It sounds… that sounds like you had a shitty time of it. But we’ll find Ameridan for you, all right? It’s… we’ll find him.”
Cole crouched down as well. “You did what she wanted you to,” he said kindly to the spirit. “You can let go of her now.”
“Thank you,” the spirit said. “It was hard. I… she… went a long time ago. I stayed because she asked.”
Fenris took a tentative step toward the spirit. “Go back to the Fade,” he said quietly. “I will close the Veil behind you.”
“Thank you,” it said once more. Then it faded back through the rift.
Fenris pulled at the rift with his left hand, and a moment later, it was gone. He idly shook out his hand, then looked down at Hawke.
She was kneeling still in the spot where the spirit had disappeared, and she looked troubled. Fenris took a step closer to her. “Hawke? What’s wrong?”
She looked up at him and smiled. “Nothing!” she chirped. “Everything is great, actually. We have so much more information now.” She stood up and elbowed Varric. “See, my favourite rumour was half-right. Ameridan did have a mage for a lover.”
“A somniari, in fact,” Dorian said. “Not unlike our dear old friend Solas. That’s likely how Telana got this spirit to help her.”
“Let’s get our facts straight here,” Varric said. “Orlais was tied up in the Second Blight, so Drakon asks Ameridan to come here to fight this super-powerful dragon, since it could raze Orlais if it got any closer?”
“That sounds about right, yes,” Dorian said. “Though I’m curious about this dragon. How powerful could it have been that Drakon had to send one of his finest warriors to fight it during the middle of the Blight?” He looked at Fenris. “We’ve fought half a dozen dragons with you and survived all of them. If Ameridan was such a renowned dragon hunter, why didn’t he survive?”
“Maybe it was just one dragon too many,” Bull said.
“Maybe,” Dorian said thoughtfully.
“How the fuck does this get covered up?” Hawke suddenly burst out. “I mean, all right, keep it quiet so Orlais doesn’t get their knickers in a knot while the Blight’s on them, but to completely cover it up?” She turned to Fenris. “There had to be documents somewhere to show that this mission happened. Orlesians are too fussy to not keep records. And – and forgetting Ameridan’s lover, like she didn’t exist? How could that happen?”
“The Chantry,” Varric said wryly.
Hawke wilted. “But that’s such nugshit!”
“I think it’s more than that,” Fenris said quietly. “I think Telana was not just a mage, but an elf.”
They all looked at him. “What?” Dorian said. “Why do you think that?”
“It was something the spirit said, before we got to the cabin,” Fenris said. “She said ‘vhenan’.” He looked at Hawke, whose eyes had gone wide. “It’s an Elvhen word, yes? For–”
“‘Heart,’” she said. “It means ‘heart’. Or ‘home’, sometimes, depending on the context, but – yes, that’s right, it’s Elvhen.” She rubbed her mouth for a moment, then looked at Fenris. “Fuck. Telana was Dalish. Of course that’s why she got erased from history.”
Her eyes were wide and sad. Before Fenris could reply, however, Dorian broke in. “The Inquisitor was in a relationship with a Dalish elf?” he said skeptically. “That’s rather unlikely, don’t you think?”
“How so?” Fenris said.
“Well, the Exalted March on the Dales hadn’t happened yet,” Dorian said. “The elves were very insular in those times – I suppose that much hasn’t changed, really. How do you think an Orlesian military man and a Dalish elf could have–”
Fenris interrupted him. “What makes you think Ameridan was Orlesian?”
Dorian’s eyebrows shot up. “Er. That he was apparently Drakon’s best friend in the whole wide world?”
“Perhaps Ameridan was Dalish too,” Fenris retorted.
Dorian’s eyebrows rose a little higher. “You think the first Emperor of Orlais, the hyper-Andrastian king of conversion, was close friends with a Dalish elf?”
“Is it that outlandish?” Fenris said. “Someday they will probably say similar things about me.” He waved irritably at himself. “The elf ex-slave as the Inquisitor, with a mage for wife and a qunari, a spirit and a Tevinter altus for friends? It sounds preposterous. Varric is the most plausible part of it. If I wasn’t living it, I might doubt the veracity of it myself.”
For a moment, no one spoke. Then Fenris sighed and rubbed his forehead. “I’m… I apologize for my tone,” he said to Dorian. “I didn’t mean–”
“Don’t apologize,” Dorian said softly. “It’s… you’re right. It is possible that Ameridan was an elf.”
Fenris shrugged listlessly. “I could be wrong. ‘Ameridan’ is not a particularly Dalish-sounding name.”
Then Hawke chimed in. “Maybe Ameridan was a human who was just so charming and persistent that he won over even the most grumpy elf.” She leaned against Fenris’s side and smiled sweetly.
Everyone relaxed slightly at her lighthearted tone. Fenris huffed and ran a hand along her back. “Of course that’s the story you’d prefer.”
She winked at him. “Speaking of stories…” She turned to Varric. “Have you got all of this down? This has to be book-worthy.”
Varric tapped his temple. “Got it. I’ll take notes tonight when we’re settled down.”
“You’re so clever,” Hawke simpered. “I wish I had a brain half the size of yours.”
He smirked and shook his head while Dorian groaned at her smarminess, and Fenris rolled his eyes playfully. They retrieved Telana’s belongings, which included a sealed order from Drakon himself that confirmed what the spirit had told them. As they returned to their boat, they made their plans for the rest of the afternoon: Fenris, Hawke and Cole would return to Stone-Bear Hold to tell Svarah about Storvacker while Dorian, Bull and Varric returned to the research camp to report their findings to Kenric. They would reconvene at the treehouse camp at the base of the Varsdotten River later tonight, along with Blackwall and Sera, to share what they’d all found.

Jaws of Hakkon makes me SO SAD!!!! I finished talking to Ameridan and I had a little anxious pit in my stomach for a second just bc I was thinking about how fucking awful Vira must be feeling at that moment
She gets to meet these amazing new people and half the time all she can think is, “Solas would love to see this. Wait, no, fuck. Fuck off, he left, cut that shit out.”
Oh hmm, apparently Ameridan had an elven dreamer girlfriend. What a weird coincidence. Of course the Chantry erased another elf from history, also COOL this definitely isn’t rubbing even more salt in an already very fresh wound!!
OH WAIT!!!! Ameridan himself is a Dalish elf and a mage too!!! Sure! Sure! This might as well happen!! Not only was this erased from history, she now gets to face the reality that the modern day Chantry, the Templars, and the Seekers all stand contrary to literally every value they were founded upon. Not that she’s got any love for those organizations, but what the fuck does that mean for her Inquisition? She’s been fighting so fucking hard to do right by mages and elves but what’s even the gods damned point if a generation from now it’ll all be corrupted?
And, Creators, it’s hard not to try and imagine a world where Ameridan and Telanna made it out okay, and were by Drakon’s side when Orlais was founded. Maybe it wouldn’t have mattered, maybe they would have just been forgotten a little later, but maybe not. If he’d only lived a little longer - long enough to guide the new nation from infancy - the world Vira grew up in might have been a kinder one.
It’s overwhelmingly terrifying to think that all her efforts might just be forgotten or worse, used to oppress the very people she was trying to protect. And there’s no outlet for that grief and fear, nothing that can be done about it, which just makes her even more frustrated. She can’t live forever, can’t see into the future and stop what might happen. She’s given absolutely everything to the Inquisition and all she can do is have faith that it’s worth it.

Dear Wintersend Letter
Dear Wintersend Creator,
Hello! I hope you’ve been having a good new year thus far. I’m Fille and I’m honored that you’ve been chosen to have me as your exchange partner. No doubt you’ve got a fantastic already existing body of work; I’m really looking forward to whatever you’ll create! I’ve laid out here a few guidelines for my prompts and the kind of things I like to see just in case you wanted a little more of a reference.
My AO3 is linked in my sidebar if you want to get a better idea of what I write and I’m generally very flexible. If you’re really stuck, you can always send me any questions you have at all on anon and I will dramatically cover my eyes and go OH NO WHO IS THAT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS COULD BE ABOUT while I answer it.
Good Shit
Character studies exploring every available aspect. Found families. People overcoming their differences to come together and people recognizing their similarities through their differences as they come together. Letting things get weird and sticky but finding comfort in that and coming toa  resolution. Domesticity, nonsexual and sexual intimacy, supporting but being willing to call the other out on their bullshit or push them towards something greater. Mutual comfort while unpacking and dealing with trauma; also, coming together to weather a traumatic experience. Well done angst that might seem overwrought, but is worth the light at the end of the tunnel. Character driven fluff and smut. Enthusiastic consent play, light bondage, service tops/service bottoms, spanking, shibari, oral sex, praise kink, dirty talk, orgasm denial, switching, femdom, pegging, hair-pulling, rough sex that comes after sparring, hair-pulling. Meaningful but realistic sex where you’re allowed to laugh and no one takes it too seriously. My biggest kink is mutual respect and affection (no, really). I also have a weakness for epistolary and faux anthropological/sociological study styles, even if the formatting can be difficult.
BONUS! I am eternally weak for the Chargers as NPCs, so any appearance of them means I will adore your work until the end of time. There is no easier in to my heart.
Background pairings I would love to see if you want to squeeze them include but are not limited to: Dalish/Skinner, Dagna/Sera, Cassandra/Vivienne, Josephine/Leliana, Iron Bull/Dorian, Female Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Any of the women at Skyhold (and I do mean any), Isabela/Merrill, Aveline/Isabela, Female Hawke/any of the Kirkwall gals (and I do mean any), Female Hawke/Merrill/Isabela, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Iron Bull, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Dorian Pavus, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Cullen Rutherford, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Krem, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Blackwall, Male Hawke/Fenris, Male Hawke/Varric, Leliana/Cassandra, Morrigan/Leliana, Josephine/Vivienne, Sera/Cassandra, Josephine/Sera, Any Male Charger But Bull/Any Male Charger But Bull,   Leliana/Sera, Cassandra/Krem, and Lace Harding/Dagna.
I haven’t actually played Origins yet, but if you wanted to include Leliana/FWarden Who Is Not Human, Morrigan/FWarden Who Is Not Human, or Zevran/Male Warden Who Is Not Human, that would be fine, too.
Non, Merci
Scat, watersports, bloodplay, vomit play, vore, rape roleplay, love triangles, character bashing, OTT angst, ageplay, infidelity, pregnancy, whump, kid fic, women being dominated by men, soulmate fic, AU fic, A/B/O dynamics and tropes, descriptions of gore that go beyond the typical canon. Referencing or hinting at abuse, rape, or assault is fine, but I’d rather not see it played out. I’m also not a huge fan of tons of angst or sadness without a happy ending; I like things bittersweet, not full on sour. Also, no human Wardens or Inquisitors, please. I have nothing against them; I just find the other origins more interesting. I have no preference regarding classes. If you’re drawing me porn and you’re an artist, I really don’t like the style where both people look super shiny; I tend to read it as oily or sweaty and it takes me out of the scene.
First person and second person POV also don’t generally work for me as styles and I would prefer you stick to canon. Pairings I would really not like to see at all are here but not limited to: Iron Bull/Any Of The Chargers (the power dynamics really squick me out), Cole/Anyone, Anders/Anyone, Blackwall/Any Female Characters, Solas/Any Female Characters, Cullen/Any Female Characters, any pairings that don’t acknowledge Sera and Dorian as gay or disrespect Krem’s gender identity, Dalish/Any Male Characters, Skinner/Any Male Characters, Male Hawke/Any Female Characters, Female Hawke/Any Male Characters, Fenris/Anders, Fenris/Isabela, Fenris/Dorian, Krem/Dorian, Female Inquisitor/Cullen Rutherford, Female Inquisitor/Blackwall, and Female Inquisitor/Solas.
I know this is a lot to take in, but you’re doing great. Onto the prompts!
Dagna/Shaper Valta
Talk about rare pairs, am I right? You don’t have to dig much deeper than the Deep Roads for these two. Still, I think there’s something to these two. I found their similarities rather striking; they’re both intelligent, relentless in their pursuit of their work, they see Orzammar for what it is, both of their fathers disagreed with what they chose to do, they don’t have any regrets regarding their decisions, etc. Valta also talked about the Titan in a very similar way to how Dagna talked about the Fade if you let her study the samples from Adamant. I think they’d really hit it off. I would love to see them talking shop or reminiscing about their lives in Orzammar.
Colette/Lace Harding
And the rare pairs get even rarer. Colette is Professor Bram Kenric’s sword wielding city elf assistant you meet in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC who’s attending the University of Orlais. (Here are a couple clips of her; skip to 1:47 for this one.) She’s researching the early Tevinter temple ruins in the Frostback Basin and how they relate to Inquisitor Ameridan. If you chat with her, she’ll tell you about the discrimination she faces as an elf attending an Orlesian university and comments on how elven assistants are common, but get no credit for their research. Professor Kenric is the exception. She’s very driven and determined to succeed in her work and it shows; that’s something she and Lace have in common. Kenric also mentions that Lace has brought artifacts back to camp for them, so I’m sure that she and Colette have at least met before.
I don’t have anything specific in mind, but something that you could have a lot of fun with is a Road to El Dorado style piece with Lace helping Colette search for an artifact in a particular ruin and possibly fighting off some Hakkonites together heroically. Bonus points if they end up having to rescue Professor Kenric and the Chargers show up as the cavalry along with Lace being an adopted Charger.
Dalish/Skinner
Okay, so just hear me out because this prompt's a little convoluted, but it could be hilarious.
So, we know that merchant families in Antiva have their feuds like anyone else. Let's say that for reasons, one of them in particular decides to retaliate by the Montilyets' rise to power by planning to kidnap Yvette. Rather than allow her sister to stay in Val Royeaux or potentially draw the mercenaries to Skyhold, Josephine chooses to take out a contract and have The Bull's Chargers kidnap her instead and take her somewhere safe to watch over her while she investigates the plot and brings the would-be kidnappers to justice.
Contrary to expectations, Yvette is a delight. She takes to the Chargers' lifestyle surprisingly well and it's just the inspiration she needed as an artist to really flourish, except she develops a huge crush on Dalish. At first, it's completely harmless and just a lot of starry eyed wistful gazing and overwrought elvhen motifs in her sketches. Skinner's not happy, but is pacified by The Iron Bull's litany of "you could literally eat her alive, she's practically a baby, we just have to get through this one job and you'll never have to see her again". Then, despite efforts to discourage it, Yvette's crush on Dalish starts getting too big to ignore and on top of all that, her girlfriend shows up.
Who is Yvette's girlfriend? I don't know. Maybe she's a Tal Vashoth pirate who automatically sets Bull on edge, maybe she's a shady apostate with a penchant for blood magic and betrayal, maybe she's a noblewoman from a disgraced house who supposedly goes through young women like tissues. It's up to you! All I ask is all's well that ends well. I want a lighthearted romp, not heavy drama. I've tagged the pairings with Josephine that I prefer most for this piece, but if you'd like to pair her with Vivienne, Sera, or Lace Harding, I wouldn't be opposed. Pentilyet doesn't really do it for me.
Female Inquisitor/Cassandra Pentaghast
Something I feel that the Cassandra romance genuinely missed out on was the possibility of an interfaith relationship between her and the Inquisitor (besides the obvious lack of not being able to romance her with a female character). I would really like to see that explored in fic.
How does she handle a partner with a belief system radically different from hers (Dalish, the Qun, the Stone, Avaar, Chasind, whatever the Vashoth or Tal Vashoth might believe in) or a nonbeliever? How much does the degree of faith affect their relationships? How do the Chantry's views on them get in the way? If her partner's actually considered to be clergy (or was before the Inquisition, such as a Keeper, an augur, a tamassran, etc.), how does she come to terms with that? Does anyone in the Inquisition help her through this trial? Do any couples who deal with these cultural differences aid her?
I don’t want to see any unhappy endings with this one, but feel free to explore it as much as you possibly can and don’t be afraid to get bitter or dark. Smut is not necessary for this prompt, but if you feel the urge, I always appreciate it, especially if it’s pseudoreligious sex full of allegories. That’s my shit.
Shokrakar
My giant women, how I love them.
I just really want some Shokrakar smut, especially if you can expand on the Valo Kas and how they fit in. I'm always down for plot with my porn. I would prefer to see her paired with any of the female characters in Inquisition, but especially Josephine, Cassandra, or Vivienne.
And that’s everything! Thanks for reading! I can’t wait to see what you do. Good luck!
Best,
        Fille

Dragon Age Question Meme
Tagged by @galadrieljones - thanks lethallan!  This is a long one - I’ll continue it under a cut.
Tagging forward to @schoute @viktuuri-fluff-saved-my-life @thevikingwoman @buttsonthebeach @charlatron @mrscullensrutherford @oops-gingermoment @iarollane @aban-asaara @irlaimsaaralath @wardsarefunctioning and anyone else who wants to play!
01) Favourite game of the series?
I haven’t played Origins yet, but between DA2 and DA:I, Inquisition is my jam! I’ve played it 3 times already and I’m not yet tired of it! So many places to explore, and I still haven’t heard all the banter yet, and the lore is just so rich, so many codex entries, yes yes.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
Basically all my Horizon Zero Dawn friends insisted - INSISTED - that I play Inquisition. For some reason I thought I wouldn’t like it, like “ahh everyone says it’s so great, how great can it be.” WELP LOL. I have no regrets, but my HZD friends might, given how HORRIBLY OBSESSED I have become LOL.
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
- Origins: 0 times, but looking to rectify that this year! - DA2: 1.5 times. Ughhh Act 2... - DA:I: 3.5 times and still loving it!
04) Favourite race to play as?
Elf. Hands down. I played a Trevelyan once and was like MEH BORING.
05) Favourite class?
MAGE. MAGE MAGE MAGE. Although I’ve been playing as Fenris a lot in DA2 and it’s surprisingly fun!! Good thing too since I’ll have to be a two-handed warrior during my Fenquisition playthrough
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
I’ll answer for Inquisition. There are some things I always do the same (e.g. Bull saving the Chargers, allying with Abelas, making Solas APPROVE OF ME LMAO), but other things I alternate. I’ve gone with the mages and the Templars twice, respectively; I prefer picking the mages, it just makes more sense and is more “ethical” to me, but I ADORE COLE and I think the whole envy demon storyline is very interesting, so I quite enjoy siding with the Templars too. I have done something different each time at the Winter Palace, and this time I plan to do something different yet again. I strongly prefer Cole as a spirit, but I’ve had him as a spirit and as human twice each.
My Fenris-as-Inquisitor playthrough will be interesting. I’ll be playing in character as him, so it’s going to be quite different than what I canonically do, and I’m quite interested to see what happens. Solas is going to hate me oh god
07) Go-to adventuring group?
- DA2: FENRIS and Anders, and then I alternate my rogues. I love both Varric and Isabela, but depending on how far into my Fenris romance I am, I often have to leave Isabela behind because I HATE WATCHING HER FLIRT WITH MY MAN <sobbing> - Inquisition: SOLAS, Cole and Blackwall is my favourite group, but I also love bringing Cass instead of Blackwall - I love Cass and Cole’s banter. But Solas and Cole are my FAVOURITE PAIRING. I could listen to their incomprehensible chatter forever.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
Damn. Umm... I put equal amounts of thought into Elia Lavellan (romanced with Solas), Athera Lavellan (romanced Abelas) and Rynne Hawke (romanced with Fenris). Before I started writing those ships, the question I had to answer was this: Why would Solas/Fenris/Abelas love her? I know why Elia loves Solas, and I know why Rynne loves Hawke and why Athera admires and eventually loves Abelas. But what is it about those OCs that those men fall in love with? I build my OCs around the men in their lives, not the other way around.
09) Favourite romance?
URGH WHY MUST YOU ASK ME THIS. GOD FINE. Fenris rivalmance, ok?? But I also love the Solasmance and the Blackwall romance to the point of swooning so just FUCK RIGHT OFF WITH THIS QUESTION THXBAI~
10) have you read any of the comics/books?.
Yes! Masked Empire and Asunder.
11) if you read them, which was your favorite book?
Masked Empire. I really liked getting more background on Celene/Briala and Gaspard (i.e. WHY THE FUCK I SHOULD GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE WINTER PALACE MISSION AT ALL). I loved Felassan and Briala’s dalen/hahren relationship. And it was just better written than Asunder.
12) Favorite DLCs?
Must agree with Gala here; Trespasser is bae, and Jaws of Hakkon is just beautiful (and also AMERIDAN <sob>). But I also liked Mark of the Assassin quite a bit! So amusing!
13) Things that annoy you.
The fact that it takes a MILLION YEARS to get banter in DA:I, and also that you can’t just click on your companions in DA:I whenever you like if you just want to hear their voice. I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CLICKED ON FENRIS CONSTANTLY TO HEAR HIM SAY “I enjoy following you”, OKAY? LIKE ALL I WANT IS FOR SOLAS  TO SAY “vhenan” TO ME WHILE WE’RE WANDERING THROUGH THE BLOODY WESTERN APPROACH
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden? We seem to spend more time there. But I’m kind of neutral I guess.
15) Templars or mages?
Mages. Hands down. Sorry Templars.
16) if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
All parallel universes. None of them coexist. Rynne Hawke doesn’t even coexist with any of my Lavellans because Fenris becomes the Inquisitor in my headcanon
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
I have only one pet, Hawke’s mabari, and his name is Toby.
18) have you installed any mods?
Console only <sob>
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
n/a - haven’t played Origins yet!
20) Hawke’s personality?
PURPLE HAWKE, with a healthy dash of Isabela-level flirtiness. But Rynne (over?)uses humour to deflect pain and agitation and anger.
21) did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition?
...Maybe.
HAHAH so I made matching colour armour for Elia and Solas, yes. And I generally like to dress both Cole and myself in black and red!
22) if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Ohhhh.... fuck. This is tough. - Elia Lavellan (romanced Solas): ...surprisingly, nothing really. She’s got a pretty zen kind of ‘what will be, will be’ attitude. In her darkest moments she might regret falling for Solas, but overall, she doesn’t really regret anything. - Arya Lavellan (romanced Blackwall): nothing. She is very confident.  - Athera Lavellan (romanced Abelas): honestly, she questions half of her decisions half the time. After Trespasser, she regrets not dissolving the Inquisition. (I haven’t decided yet if she eventually does dissolve it after all; perhaps we’ll see what DA4 brings us).  - Rynne Hawke (romanced Fenris): a LOT of things. She regrets letting Bethany attack that ogre. She regrets not bringing Carver to the Deep Roads, because maybe then he wouldn’t have joined the Templars to spite her. She regrets not following up more closely on Emeric’s murder investigation because otherwise maybe her mother wouldn’t have died. She basically blames herself anytime anything bad happens with her family (including the Merry Band of Misfits).
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
I actually quite enjoy sticking to canon for the most part, and expanding on facts that we already know. The one canon-ish(?) thing I don’t love is the idea of Dalish Inquisitors understanding or speaking a dialect of Elvhen that’s mutually intelligible with the dialect that Solas and Abelas speak. I let it slide in my Solavellan fics, but I mean, it’s been THOUSANDS OF YEARS between Arlathan and the Dragon Age. Dalish Elvhen (even if they have many many dialects, which is most certainly the case) is very unlikely to be mutually intelligible with ancient Elvhen. I’ve been meaning to write a full post about this for like a year oops
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone?
They all contain some elements of self-insert, so... me, I guess? XD
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
The first time I played Inquisition, I had not played DA2 yet, so I left Hawke in the Fade for LOGIC REASONS OK - Stroud was like the only senior Warden left, I thought they needed him! I’ve left Stroud there every time thereafter.
26) Favourite mount?
Well, it WOULD be any and all the harts, except for that FUCKING HORRENDOUS SOUND THEY MAKE. I thus prefer to ride dracolisks for the Coolness Factor™.
