hi everyone!! i’m still on a temporary hiatus for the time being, but after mulling things over, i’ve made a decision about how i run my blogs:

for now, i’m not going to use the queue for my threads although i might use it for any dash games i get tagged in and aesthetics i happen to stumble across

i also know i get thru all of the drafts for my muses at once usually....i think that’s been what’s making this feel more like an obligation so after i finish ga-ram and myungdae’s drafts...i’m just gonna...switch to tackling threads when i feel most inspired for them ( this might mean i’m on my single muse blogs a lot more often as well 😌 since i have...lots of thoughts for calum in particular.... ) please know that if i haven’t answered our thread for a while that doesn’t mean i care about our dynamic any less though!!

this also means the activity levels for some muses are gonna go down significantly; again, that doesn’t mean i care any less about any dynamics or threads they have there!! it just means the muse for them appears less often for me unfortunately. just as reminder here are the activity levels for my main muses as of now:

do they have any pet peeves?

condescension of any kind especially since he’s disabled with only one working arm. he’ll tell you if he needs help, thank you very much! jaywalking, unnecessarily loud noises if it’s while he’s teaching or in the library ( apartment’s a different story- ray’s already a loudmouth ), and texting/being on your phone when he’s hanging out with you. that’s just rude!

their comfort read? (could be a book, magazine, comics, etc)

hm....he’s not as big of a reader as he’d like to be, but i’d probably say probably a shounen manga like naruto or bleach. actually fairy tail. that’s his comfort read manga wise. but if you’re looking for something more literary- the little prince.

if the book they are reading turns out to be shit, do they push through just for the sake of finishing it, or do they move on and find something else?

in the past, lamon was that guy who finishes everything he starts, but ever since his car accident, he has to force himself to put it down and go do something else. he has to remind himself he’s only reading this for fun and therefore, if he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t have to see it thru. he might feel guilty for a little while about not finishing it, but he moves on relatively quickly.

their comfort tv show / film?

so many. when he was recovering from his accident, he watched a lot of animated stuff to get him thru the process. he watches lots of animated cartoons/anime so the list right now includes fairy tail, avatar the last airbender, food wars ( for the food ), naruto, bleach, norigami, etc.

a song that is currently stuck in their head? (or multiple)

anything by porter robinson- mirror, get your wish, look at the sky. porter robinson is his comfort music. if he’s in a low place, catch him in the closet, listening exclusively to porter robinson.

the next three questions are for you. do you have anything special in common with your character?

eeep. there’s a lot actually?? i mean lamon manifested at first as all of my high school and college anxieties times three. he’s his own person of course, but of all of the muses i have, lamon might be the most similar to me ( and mana’s husband comes in second place ). or at the very least, we process emotions very similarly in which we take a little longer to like actually feel our emotions?? our brains are like messy rooms- when something happens, i tend think something like ‘okay i know i should be feeling something here and i don’t quite know what it is yet, but it’s there’ and then the emotion reveals itself and i’m like ‘oh there it is!’ lam has a similar process. other things though- our taste in music is very similar. we’re both suckers for animated content too. oh and i like to think his character development from his original conception actually very much mirrors mine?? like his backstory got a little dark there and his personality, very fragile. i wasn’t in a great spot either. and then as i started to recover, i got sad just thinking about him so i decided to change his backstory so it was lighter and his personality so it was more vivacious. i also think we both these days have developed an ‘idgaf’ attitude towards the minor details in life.

what brings you the most joy about writing this character, right now?

hmmmm, i haven’t written him nearly as much as i want to, BUT i do like how layered his personality is. bc on one hand, he presents himself as apathetic and rather cold, but in actuality, he’s quite passionate?? hotheaded?? also v soft and sweet with his friends?? i just wanna explore all the relationships for him bc he also had a rough past few years so GIVE HIM FRIENDS PLS

who would win in a fight, you or them?

 he definitely has the height and weight advantage, but i think i have a fighting chance? for one thing i’m pretty sure i have a little more of a fiery personality than he does. he might be able to decimate me emotionally though.

any advice from your muse?

"sometimes life is just one long terrible joke. and by one long terrible joke, i mean you have to wait for the punchline to come before it all makes sense. wait for it. drink a baja blast. make a comment to the person sitting next to you. get into a conversation about the necessity of toilet lids. maybe go strangle that person if they suggest eating pickle flavored ice cream to pass time. sooner or later, it’ll all make sense.”

1. What does your muse smell like?

you know the regular head & shoulders dandruff shampoo one might normally buy? yeah most times that’s what lam smells like. pretty boring, but he makes a point to shower before going to work. now outside of the classroom is a more interesting story. since he lives with raphael, it’s not unusual for him to come out with a pungent smell as the result of some weird food combo ray made him try  that he tried. the other alternative is that he smells like mulch and on a more metaphorical sense, sunlight?? dunno how that’s supposed to smell actually, but despite being a video game enthusiast, lam’s kinda like a plant in that sense. thriving in the sunlight actually.

2. What do your muse’s hands feel like?

warm and dry! they might seem a bit more on the bony side just because he hasn’t quite mastered the art of self-care yet, BUT they’re nice and soft to hold for the most part. i’d say that there are a healthy amount of calluses on both hands just because long periods of holding writing utensils for grading and button smashing from video games and from gardening.

3. What does your muse usually eat in a day?

eeeeep, so you see, lam has this terrible habit of like forgetting to nourish himself simply because he got too invested in a. grading papers, b. whatever video game/plant that had his attention, or c. just some weird tangent he got himself into. it doesn’t help that he doesn’t know how to cook either. before becoming roommates with raphael, he had a lot of takeout- fries were a must, burgers, fried rice with broccoli and chicken. he went a lot to the nearby thai restaurant to get tom yam, pad thai, son yam, curry, and more of the thai variant. after he becomes roomies with raphael, his palate unintentionally gets a lot more varied as he and ray quickly come to an agreement- if lam is willing to do both of their laundry, then raphael will cook for both him and lam. and raphael has a wide palate, one day cooking risotto to the next day making nasi lemak or hainanese chicken rice. needless to say, lam’s been eating a lot better with raphael around, as the other also makes it a point to make food smell enticing enough to grab lam’s attention.

4. Does your muse have a good singing voice?

i guess he does?? he doesn’t really sing much but he might hum a tune or two. he’s never really asked for anyone’s opinion...i’d say his voice is more on the higher end of scale BUT he’s usually on softer side as well. he can probably hold a decent tune but don’t expect him to be getting any applause or special attention for it.

5. Does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks?

lmao there’s a lot. first there’s the fact that he hasn’t quite mastered the art of self-care so there are periods of time where he might forget to eat...and sleep due to his work or whatever tangent has his mind occupied. if he hasn’t slept enough you usually tell by the number of cups of coffee he’s downed and also by the fact he’ll be able to fall asleep just about anywhere (standing up, sitting at a desk). he also get overwhelmed quite easily actually? like he might not look like it, but when he does get overwhelmed or stressed out, he’ll zone out even if he’s in convo with someone. 

not sure if this counts as a bad habit, but he also really likes enclosed spaces. if he gets especially stressed out, he might just sit in closet to calm down. might even take a nap in there too.

6. What does your muse usually look like / wear?

it swings between college student look and business casual. as a teacher, he makes it a point to look at least somewhat put together- think button downs, blazers, with khaki pants. he wears a lot of turtlenecks too. 

outside of work though, he’s a lot more casual. he likes his sweats and hoodies, he likes just a plain ol’ t-shirt/shirt. more athletic clothing one might say. the important part in both cases though is that he usually prefers long-sleeves to short-sleeves, largely due to the surgery scar he got from his accident. it’s not that he’s self-conscious about it, but more of that he doesn’t want it to draw attention from his students and acquaintances. that and he gets cold easily, even in the summer.

hair though, it’s pretty simple. shampoo everyday and comb it.

7. Is your muse affectionate?  How much?  How so?

with most people no. he keeps a physical distance especially with his students ( bc a teacher has to anyways ). he wasn’t raised in an especially physically affectionate household so he keeps decorum as his standby mode.

now with friends on the other hand, you wouldn’t think it of him, but he can be surprisingly very forward with it? like he has to be comfy with u which can be a process in and of itself, but once you have his trust, he’s the kind of person who will take a seat next to you and without any warning invade ur personal space ( if you tell him you’re uncomfy tho, he’ll keep that in mind ). very clingy as well- lots of tugging on shirts to stay. he doesn’t like being alone with strangers so if u take him to a party, he’s more than likely to cling to the one person he knows.

romantic ( platonic ) partners on the other hand, now he’s like super touchy and affectionate there. lots of cuddling and ‘no stay here, i need a furnace warmer pls’ if there ever comes a time where lam gets a ship, pls know he is a koala bear. 

8. What position does your muse sleep in?

definitely on his side/fetal position! to be more specific, he always sleeps on his right side so that his bad arm is resting against the mattress. that’s both for practicality reasons and safety reasons-  wouldn’t want that bad arm in the line of fire after all. i will say though, if he’s sleeping next to a romantic (or platonic) partner, he will curl in against them, fit into any space next to them. when possible he likes falling asleep in small spaces.

9. Could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room?

good question. is he playing video games? no? then probably not. i’d say even though he’s more on the quiet side, he has no problems with speaking up especially in academic settings. volume wise, he tends to fall more on the softer side so occasionally, he’ll be asked to repeat himself. he’ll often use this to his advantage when it comes to troublesome students/people in general. now if he’s playing video games, that’s a different ball park- he can very into them...that’s when you might be able to hear him from another room :D

a gentleman’s team.

native to the galar region, patrick starts out with a hotheaded farferch who mellows out over the years. much like patrick, its evolution is triggered by felicity naming it a gentleman. patrick’s desire to be a true gentleman from there on out influenced him to catch more docile, mild-mannered pokémon. his primarina actually used to be felicity’s ( who came from the alola region to study in the dynamax particles in galar ) up until she passed away. over the years, the two have become very much in sync to the point of being able to use z moves together.

later once certain events transpire that allow patrick to finally move forward from felicity’s death, he finishes up his gym badge collection and takes to traveling the world. along the way, he adds a meloetta, a ninetales upon revisiting the alola region, and a meltan, the new baby of the group since his yamper evolved.

world traveler on break.

despite being born in staleport city of the hoenn region, raphael’s first pokémon was actually his munchlax, a gift from his father. it’s just about as hungry and relaxed as raphael is. predictably, most of his pokémon have connections to scent/food of some kind and many of them he does use to find his own ingredients. his tsareena in particular started out as an ingredient gatherer and graduated to cooking in the kitchen. initially working in having traveled the world before settling in the alola region, his pokémon are varied in terms of origin of region, however they do hit hard in a pinch.

plants + headaches.

as a teacher’s assistant in alola specializing in plants, lamon’s team generally consists grass and bug types. unlike the others, lamon doesn’t actually meet his partner pokémon, rowlet, until he’s older. absentminded, airheaded, and rather spazzy, his rowlet more often than not drags him into trouble. and if it’s not his rowlet, then it’s probably going to be his psyduck, whose headaches are more than frequent occurrences.

LAMON: FAKE IT ‘TIL YOU MAKE IT.

Particular to the color green, Lamon’s wardrobe is currently in a state of transition between the ‘idgaf’ style of a college student in the middle of cram week and the formal style required of teachers. For now, he strikes a healthy balance down the middle- the important part is that he looks like competent to his students. He gets chilly easily so long sleeves on the more form-fitting side, are his default. He wears glasses although someone has to convince him that ‘no the chain does not make you look more intelligent’.

RAPHAEL: FORM OVER FUNCTION ANY DAY.

When it comes clothes, he’s always been a ‘form over function’ kind of guy. The important part is if he’ll be able to cook effectively whatever he’s wearing. As a result he wears lots of plain ol’ t-shirts and long sleeves although he has been looking more into athleisure wear in general. Long and flowy pieces of clothing along with overly restrictive clothing are big nos. And you’ll probably see him dead first before you see him in a button-downs or a suit. The one exception is his black bomber jacket that he wears almost everywhere in the colder seasons.
