so here's a fun (but kinda sad) aspect i thought about regarding cynic's dimension,

i like to think that you can just tell that something is off when you go there. the color in the trees and the flowers and the forests are less... vibrant. the sky and the seas are less blue. the birds don't sing as loud. even the people are a little less high spirits. even the badniks are a little less emotive. its as if something's missing. it's as if something is... wrong. :)

generally, cynic's not insecure about his height. he knows he's short. it seems that mobian height tends to vary depending on what... species of mobian you are? and maybe some are just Taller thanks to genetics or something. but across the board, cynic's on the shorter end of the spectrum. it doesn't bother him though! what he lacks in height he makes up for in charisma and also being a powerhouse. it does get a little annoying sometimes to have to crane his neck to look at ppl though.

starting to realize that a lot of the bad behavior cynic displays stems from the desire of craving attention, even if its negative attention. at least it means someone's thinking about him. talking to him. interacting with him. and he had it reinforced a lot as a child that he's only deserving of negative attention anyway.

i don't think cynic ever used to think about his looks too hard until he met another sonic and most other sonics, realizing how different he is from them - especially in terms of color scheme. theyre all usually a darker, more saturated blue, and they actually have color in their eyes.

his eyes are actually just a very dark color though. he always assumed they were black 'cuz most of the time they DO look black, but sometimes they look more green or blue in the right light.

i described cynic's zone and the general aesthetic of it in this post a while back, so now i'm thinking about what sterling's has to be like....

and i think to fit into the theme of sterling's character, instead of it being like. less saturated, less lifelike, instead it's... oversaturated. the colors are just a little too colorful. the sky and the sea is a little too blue. the people seem... happy? like. the world is at peace and it makes no sense. obviously, with it being an anti zone, there are a lot of things wrong with that dimension, but it seems like it's all been smoothened out and painted over with a veneer of pristineness that you sit there and question if it's even any different than sonic's home zone.

sterling's kingdom is a utopia. he stomped the world's government out when he took over and redistributed all that wealth to the people who needed it. people don't have to work now just to survive, but they can still work if they want to. they spend more time creating and going out and travelling. anyone who tried threatening his position of power were also cut down or were pacified with bribes.

and dr. kintober? he works under sterling. he aids in providing for the people with his technology, and also in mobilizing planetary defenses.

spite actually might have less issues with her own identity and place in the world than cynic just because she doesn't identify as sonic anymore. like she's still the same hedgehog ultimately but like.. idk. she might be less concerned about than cynic. granted she's still gonna have an inferiority complex with other sonics but it's slightly pacified by her not really IDing as sonic anymore

Soooo. Cynic's jacket.

A trusty red varsity jacket hastily shoved into his hands one cold november night by a former band mate during the classic era, it has definitely seen better days. It's fairly light, but has a certain weight and warmth to it upon putting it on. Considering it's faded pigment, torn edges, and how often Cynic is seen wearing it, it's easy to assume he doesn't take the best care of it, but in actuality - he takes very good care! He's had to patch it back up a few times, and washes it when it starts to get dirty (he'll even go out his way to buff out any stains). He cares a lot about that jacket, since its one of the only things he really can call his own. It has become a comfort object to him since coming into his posession, and he doesn't let just anybody touch it (he's very protective of it). You have to be someone he cares about for him to willingly lend it out, and that status is rare to come by with Cynic. But, for those who do manage to gain enough of that trust, he may allow them to wear it. It depends on the circumstance, since usually he feels a little exposed without the thing. If its really cold and they have nothing to bundle up with, he may just put it on them without saying anything. Either way, if he lends it out, thats how you know he cares about the person he's letting use it.
