hello. cas-tionnaire of the day! thoughts on love island va love is blind? and the ethics of romance TV shows in general?

I don't watch romance reality tv but one of my friends keeps up with all of them & one of the recent times we were together she put on one of the newer netflix ones (I don't rmbr the name, tho they're all kinda interchangeable aren't they) and I felt like my brain was deflating. They really do seek out the stupidest and emotionally undeveloped ppl on purpose huh 🤔 though i do think it's easy for ppl to shit on romance reality tv / see it as lowbrow in a way that implies there are ethics to be had in any reality tv show which i think is a stretch 🤥 like I think what draws ppl to these shows in the first place is the fact that they are so void of morals and like the sterile predictability a lot of scripted shows follow now. In terms of reality I only really watch survivor & a big part of it for me is seeing the extreme and different personalities forced to cohabit and #Survive with each other which obvi isn't the exact same as romance reality but it's still a little sadistic to enjoy as a voyeur isn't it like can we really argue there are more/better ethics in enjoying watching other people struggle for their basic needs in the wilderness / extreme weather vs. single adults simply trying to smash n find the one on a fancy villa or whatevs 💭

1. i'm not sure if this counts, but... coming out. i know i'm still not... exactly... wearing it on my damn forehead. but talking about it at all publicly has been one of my biggest fears for so long. i've been hiding this part of myself since i can remember. i mean, you grow up thinking there's something wrong with you because you never see anyone else like you and then your piece of shit dad beats you if he even so much as suspects that you're not 100% straight? being berated and made fun of over something i was trying to hide really took a toll, i guess. so, yeah. i was embarrassed to come out. i was embarrassed to admit to harrin- to steve that i have feelings for him. and asking him to be my boyfriend gave me so much anxiety i almost puked on his shoes. but i didn't. i guess that's the important part.

2. being nice. my last answer was stupid and this one probably is too, but i'm just not good at it. i see how other people usually act towards each other and it makes me feel like something is wrong with me? like there's a part of my brain that's broken or missing that makes it so i just don't have the capacity to be nice. i just- being nice to people for no reason makes me nauseous. if i don't know you, if i don't like you, why should i be nice to you? i don't know, maybe i'm too bristly. maybe it has something to do with my childhood but i already talked enough about that shit in the last answer
