for various reasons, the japan influence on the world of cyberpunk is something that fascinates me (probably what initially drew me to the game ngl). the 1980s “yellow peril” economic rivalist mindset infused the lore with techno-orientalism (problematically at times) and we see a strong japan influence on the city and other aspects of society, especially corporate work culture. i’m always thinking of things from this perspective when writing about arasaka corpo life.

on a less serious note, do you think japanese mascots (yuru-chara) culture carried over? I want to believe that arasaka has some hokey bear with a samurai hat or some amorphous blob with a katana representing the corp at various press events.

 hey all.   I’m putting blog back on hiatus  -  which won’t make a difference,  because my queue is full almost to christmas.  a mix of real life things have just got too much for now:  between work screwing me over and people I thought were friends,  I’m just numb and tired.  I haven’t been happy on here for a while and I genuinely can’t tell if it’s about the blog or if I’m just not happy anywhere.

I’ll be around,  ish,  on discord but not as much as usual.  it’s started to increasingly feel like a lot of the people who do talk to me are because I bug them into it rather than actually wanting to and I’m tired of being a burden.  I’m tired of forcing conversations and I’m sorry to anyone who has felt pressured to humour me.

birdie rambles;  currently out of town visiting my family’s graves as it’s anniversary / birthday week (my mum and nan had birthdays one week apart with the anniversary of my nonno’s death in the middle).   not around much because of this!  I’ll be on tuesday to be annoying about maeve’s birthday.

birdie rambles about star trek again;  I’m not actually here bc mental health issues but...  thinking about how,  whilst the truth about her being half romulan coming out is generally good for her,  how in all verses it puts her in so much danger?   like...  snw / tos it won’t come out,  but the odd person might find out.  but ds9? voy?  there’s literally no escaping the hatred towards her people  (  and a lot of it,  pretty rightfully so  ).  yes,  people knowing the truth is better for her,  but it puts her in so much danger.
