 it's a lie and he knows it,     one that draws warm little smile onto features and gets barely hidden laugh.     she almost never truly asks for anything:    and,    in times where he so much as suspects it is something that matters to her,    maeve has never known kansas boy to do anything to stand in her way.    ❝   what if I say pretty please? do the physical attributes of the please make a difference?   ❞    small kiss comes to @duefaith​’s shoulder,  shifting in shared space to lie more propped up against him,   crossed arms resting on other's chest and leaning down to place gentle kiss to corner of his lips.

                           sleeping has never come naturally,    but at least when he is here between postings,  it's a little easier when he's within reach.

 pets are unlikely to ever be an option.    how could they be?    so much of her life is now spent treading the line between alive and working out how to possibly live in such conditions,    the world of fiction and stories merging into daily life until the very thought of own future is suffocating.    maeve and her ability are one    -    no matter how she may long to change that,    it is a simple fact.    to bring anything innocent into the danger that comes with existing near her isn't something she would willingly do to any being:    no matter how nice the company might prove itself to be.     ❝   sadly,    I've never had too much use for santa.    but hey,    maybe at Hanukkah I'll get one of those lights with fake floating fish.   ❞

 still,    there is the usual curve of lips,    usual dry mischief to casually offered remark.    ❝   turtle,    lettuce,    light. are you sure you weren't reading a recipe?   ❞    it is nice to see other's happiness regardless of the logic to it    -    never one to wish to pop or ruin such rare bubbles of actually content peace.     ❝    maybe you'll find yourself a superpowered pet on your adventures.    you've managed to find every other possible companion through time and space shenanigans,    it would only be fitting.   ❞
