📖: one word!!! minecraft. lmao yes, back in 2019 when s2 came out, Shou's english va posted on her twt saying that she did a joke take on this scene with Shou asking Ritsu to join his minecraft server, it's funny it's cute, but the fandom never let that go 😭🤚

It's so funny to me, ever since then fanarts after fanarts and fics all filled with your boy being the minecraft gamer of all times, I think it's sweet, i think the hype is a little bit too insane, cuz really the majority of all fanmedia abt Shou is based on minecraft lmao. It is greedy that I want ppl to look at and appreciate deeper aspects of his character? probably. yes. please. PLEASE!! Im just nitpicky, I'm mean, ok?

🥂: My fav part of Shou's canon is how unpredictable he is, personality & story and ESPECIALLY story, he shows out of nowhere and changes the trajectory of people's lives more than twice probably, it's insane I love it, he is mp100's element of surprise walking on two short legs!!! I love how his trope breaks with the bittersweet reality and that itself is so unexpected. It's executed sooo well too for a side character thing, ONE's is such a good writer ok, I'll cry abt it forever.

✒️ the muse's canon vs 📝 the muse's fanon!

This is funny to me becuz just a few mintutes before u sent this, I was on twt and stumbled upon literal visual representation LMAO????

It REALLY is as simple as this, safe for a few lucky instances it's not even funny 😭🤚 this fandom has no middle ground hands down, they either put Shou's canon potential to full use, or go with the traits and hcs the fandom hivemind decided would be a good thing. it's disheartening!!!!! to me!!!!!!!

Shou's canon is a story abt an anti-hero believing he has the ability to save the day and eventually failing, his morals are questionable his actions are malevolent and when taken out of context; his plans and goals are extremely simplistic and chaotic, it gives him an unintentional funny vibe which is very appreciated. That's for his manga version at least, anime studio bones boy is loud, jumpy, and animated to sound and look more like a naruto typa protagonist, and fanon took that boy and his "Chaotic" nature and downgraded his character to like a couple traits i can count on hand lmao, he has no real flavor anymore!!! Like any redhair fireboy you'd find all over media & movies & cartoons, goofy & loud & and on his way to burn ur house down for no reason ig!!!! NO HATE ON THE TROPE, it's just not Shou!! It's not who he is!!!

Are you happy with how your favorite canon muse was portrayed in canon? 👀

yes & no !!!!!!! Back around the time season 2 came out One-sensei posted old concept art of Shou & mentioned how he was intending for the little guy to be as much of a "Shounen protagonist" as possible, then he states how he feels like he failed to deliver that energy in the manga & how the anime did good where he couldn't and like- I agree, the anime did a great job making Shou sound & look like a Shounen protag, colour scheme & constant loudness & everything- but it also stripped him of many fundamental traits which made him a really interesting character that didn't fall flat into the "Chaotic fire boy" trope and took away the flavor from his personality.

And like don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that Shou was meant to be a mockery to the Shounen protag trope, but I like it best when that aspect is displayed thru his story & arc rather than personality and looks, if that makes sense ajshsjsv I love the way Shou was presented in the manga, from the mysterious anti-hero to the brave & caring bitter son who is just constantly putting himself in situations that drive him to his very limits, the anime suffers a severe lack of inner monolog

( look at him. terrified to the bone but still ready to take the hit, i shake him violently. "Do I have to do this alone?" SUZUKI SHOU. )

Story-wise I think Shou's did wonderful on breaking the shounen protag trope. Nothing beats the reality slapped into your face with his failures. He did the whole deal like your usual hero, clearly worked so hard & trained for so long & established strong connections with people to be by his side, he still failed MISERABLY, shounen protags don't fail lol they beat u with the power of friendship & sad anime flashbacks, Shou doesn't get any of these privileges and faces the tragic reality and has no choice but to accept defeat against final boss!!!! No naruto nor goku could pull that off lmao ( i also think it's funny that we get to casually learn that he isn't mother-less as he seems, unlike 90% of shounen boys, I think this also breaks the trope very nicely )

I think all of that paired with the off-putting shady af, unintentionally funny & actually fucking smart vibe of him in the manga made him such a neat & unique little dude and the anime didn't have to change that but they DID to an extent and it made him somewhat lamer and genuinely dumb, it also led to extremely poor and ooc characterization by the fandom imo, i can whine abt it forever and I probably WILL

OOOOHH RITSU. RITSU!! It's been a while since i got a chance to be insane abt him, it's so obvious to anyone familiar with my mp100 hyperfixation that he's my second fave lol I always feel like he's the kind of character I'd struggle writing, there is so much to him that I'd want to study under a microscope forever to truely understand the depths of his really well-written character. But aside from the edge-lord sasuke-wannabe that surfaces ( and takes over most of the fanon portrayals, mind you ), I think Ritsu is such a loving boy who has been so troubled for a really, Really long time, and has managed to hide it all so well from everyone, and that last fact on its own is so tragic to me. I instantly felt so much sympathy for him, to constantly be in such pain & turmoil and still feel the need to hide your problems, from your schoolmates, from your siblings, from your parents, I think these are things a lot of people can relate to, including myself. It was mostly fear that made Ritsu hide all that time, and it's so fascinating to see how his spiral during big cleanup arc is just all the negative emotions that had been rotting him from within finally reaching the surface. And all of this rotting has shaped him into this "perfect" boy who tries to make up for some sort of lacking that no one besides himself seems to understand. Ritsu is literally one of the top ten students in all of fucking Japan and he doesn't give a damn about it, because in his world his brother & the things his brother can do has been his biggest aspirations, his brightest dreams! his worst nightmares! and if he can't do that, then what use are his achievements ? what to make of himself & every single thing about him that's so plain & powerless ? what is so wrong about him that stops him from being like his brother ? his frustrations and fears are literally so visceral istg it was sO CONCERNING to watch.

And between his trauma/fear and his imposter syndrome & trying to be the brother who makes up for whatever the other brother doesn't have ( perfect grades, perfect records, perfect reputation, perfect looks ) Ritsu never really lived normally despite being THE normal one of two, but it's been him & his isolation & all the horrors for so long!! That's why when he realizes & decides he wants to have fun in life I just kind of burst to tears ??? no more fear no more facades no more lies no more unspoken unbearable suffering killing him slowly !!!

Aside from me just wanting to cry forever over him, if u want any salt on the fandom I think everyone shld look a liiittle past the emoboy who's just there to look pretty & be sad- and try to find the kid who trusts & loves his brother so much & helps his mother do the dishes & likes to watch dramas & goes with his bestie on fishing becuz he doesn't like loud places. he also studies because he genuinely thinks it's fun. isn't he weird ??? isn't he so sweet when you think abt it ????

ok im gonna sound a bit mean but, ppl in the rpc tend to complain a lot abt things they can change, but most of the time they're simply too lazy to make an effort, or they're too anxious abt it which in some cases can be reasonable but in most ? It isn't. I honest to god do not comprehend the amount of anxiety and stress ppl around here inflict upon themselves even though this is supposed be their safe place, their fun little silly house full of silly mates.

Anxiety is nothing to underestimate, neither is shyness or how open ppl wish to be in any situation they wish to handle, I'm a very introverted person myself and I worry abt social interactions to troublesome degrees, but that encouraged me to make somewhere safe for myself away from all that stress, cuz it's only fair to me that way! What I'm saying is, ppl need to worry less abt rps, they need to take their experience in the rpc more lightly, they need to step away from rp if it's causing them life changing depressive episodes and violent anxiety attacks, cuz this is fucking tumblr and if tumblr makes your life harder? simply go touch some fucking grass my friend.
