Can I ask what the infamous "intellectually attracted" scene was in the Japanese version of Rise from the Ashes? I read that there was no subtext in the original and I'm curious what your thoughts on that are. There's also another line that's a little shippy in the English version (and maybe others idk): "Mia did a good job mentoring you. I'm rather jealous..." Thank you!
Hi, thanks for your question! I have a book with the entire script of AA1 in Japanese so I consulted it to answer your question. I wouldn't say the original has no subtext exactly, but it's certainly much less suggestive than the English line. It's quite different in Japanese.
Lana: For the sake of becoming a defense attorney, she'd do anything... that's the overwhelming aura she gave off.
Surely... that was why she approached me.
Phoenix: What do you mean?
Ema: Sis was the valedictorian. The top of her class in law school...
Lana: You could say... I'm exceptional.
Phoenix: ...Right.
As for the jealous line, that one was a lot closer to the English version. Lana basically said that Mia mentored him well and that she was envious. I hope that answers your question ^^
