While Slate isn’t picky with partners, there is one factor that proves true in order to foster a long term partnership; kids. Slate is a very parental creature by nature, whether during a phase where they ignore or reject it due to one reason another or when they fully embrace it it does not matter. It is very likely Slate would not stay satisfied and may eventually end up depressed and or lost without children to raise and nurture. Also being an immortal God, they would end up empty nesting pretty hard once offspring grew up enough to take care of self and would likely want to have more later.

Slate is fine with a partner only wishing to stay with them for one “lifetime” (they consider a relationships life time the age of a childs growth to eventually the hit of the empty nesting), and understands others do not have the same instincts as them. They also have no qualms with being a single parent, as they have before and would be again. They also will give a partner a full out if they do not wish to parent a child, but also is very serious about them having to leave before the child can get attached to them.

They also have no problems with short flings / relationships with others without children required (short for them, of course, can be decades).

Basic Shoat design. True offsprings of Slate, they share precise qualities of their parents true form. This specific type of offspring is gained via solo production or cases where Slate adopts an unwanted offspring of another- changing them into one of their own. They are often seen as Forest Spirits. There are aspects of them that change depending on individual. Horn style, amount of eyes, type of plant association, and limb amount.

No so okay I wanna talk about how “weird” Healed Slate is in the grand scheme of things.

Slate is an Outer God that got sealed away for their crimes, and was outcast in general for being born and cause of their parents ‘crime’ of having them. The Gods, even those at their own level or below them, look down on them. Always have.

Outer Gods are the highest level of Gods in Slates lore. Basically it goes Outer Gods, Elder Gods, Conceptual Gods (those with reign over specifics), Universal Gods, Planetary Gods, Demi Gods, Mortals. Basically, unsealed Slate has a ton of power.

And Healed Slate can directly tap into their sealed form. Plus the fact that to hit this phase they have probably killed if not absorbed Phobia, they have even more power. Even the Gods that cast them down are like ‘I guess you killed one of the Problems, maybe you can return to being one of us.’

And Slate basically says fuck you. They decide to become this God of Earth, basically an Outer God deciding to become a Planetary God instead of returning to a kingdom amongst the stars. Willingly keeping most of their power still sealed away. And they just smile upon the fact the Gods still look with disgust at such a being choosing to ‘lower themselves’ to petty emotions and connections.

They don’t care, cause they are happy.

It’s more like appears like Gold like the metal- vaguely glows as well. It does hold some similarities to the metal in compound too, as their fluids are more like liquid space particles and dust of planets they’ve destroyed (part of their punishment), those which shared some parts of the same make up as gold. But also has other make-ups of other elements.

Healed!Slate absolutely regrets some of the stuff they’ve done, but also doesn’t let the past weigh them down. Instead, uses it as a lesson of how to act in the future. 

They also have learned what to burden the blame of and what was not their fault.

Just thinking about Slate and wanted to drop some of their universe lore.

After the Gods had punished them via sealing then on Earth (what they saw as a pathetic planet anyways), they were sealed amongst the Flora of a forest. Their preferred way of interacting with the world was the apple trees there.

Well, the creature that was used as a more mobile host was actually what caused the myth of unicorns. It was a 5 horned animal from the old Earth (pre the void trying to remake the Earth for its own reasons and pre the Veins being created due to the unconscious clash of this attempt and Slates own eldritch energy trapped in the Earth. Ironically Slate was Earth’s savior even if it was a completely unconscious action). But getting back to the point. This creature was actually more sheep adjacent than horse, and it’s intelligence was not like that of humans. Probably at highest that of a dog, but it showed care for its own herds.

This creature was hunted due to the fact the horns on the side had enzymes within them that could heal- the horn in the middle, however, was only used for defense. As a protective measure, the side horns decayed after death leaving only the central horn.

That however didn’t stop the inevitable- the creatures went extinct due to the anomalies of the Veins much like other old earth species. Leaving a false myth. Slate themselves actually is evidence of them though- as the creature that ate their apple was one of these with a broken center horn. This horn later becoming a third eye due to their godly body just changing what it felt.

Tldr:: slates a sheep passing unicorn

Slate is not a hateful being. Even before they really went down a path of healing, their grudges never fully lasted. Only two beings in their life they have ever truly felt full hate for. And even then their brain tried to tell them once or twice to forgive them.

Thinking about when if Slate has kid(s) again, especially with a partner that wants to stick around, due to their experiences Slate may be paranoid or even aggressive towards their partner even coming close to their kid(s) at first.

Of course, once Slate realizes that their partner doesn’t want to A. just take their kid and toss Slate to the side, B. want to use their kid for some power bargaining chip or C. want to kill the kid, they will calm down and open up to the idea of just being a family unit. An idea they love but just are too scared of it not being true or possible

Since we on this mess, I do wanna talk about the irony of Phobia calling Slate the one who was born broken.

She was the one that was nothing more than the ‘extra’ from The Bloated Tongue creating Slate. The extra that became an unintended twin. One loved the same, but still never intended.

One that barely got anything as far as the things Slate got as far as a being. 

She is not jealous, is not annoyed- she literally can not feel those feelings, as Slate was the only being that could feel that sort of stuff. That was their birthright. And when their parent got punished for even creating them the only thing she felt was opportunity. Opportunity to mold Slate into a weapon and a tool, nothing more. Not a sibling, not the only family she had left.

She considers Slate broken because they can feel, because they can know what being broken is.
