@championsofthegate : i'm free now, and i'm never going back. (Cietan @ Yilna maybe?)
Tumblr media
Black eyes stare blankly back, her expression as difficult to read as it ever was. She does not know his story, not truly, but there was some mistaken belief that being of the same kind meant they must share some kinship. In truth, he reminded her of Rytri, despite the fact that they were near the same age. Was he just as loyal as her brothers?
He said he would never go back, and her heart ached. How she would have, in those first days in this unfamiliar place, if she'd had the chance. How she had pleaded and screamed and begged to stay.
"...how wonderful for you."
There is vitriol in her words, however misaimed. Eyes shut for a long moment, breathing careful and controlled as she paces, long arches back and forth across the clearing they've found themselves in. The blade in her hand spins aimlessly, more to occupy her hands than in any attempt at seeming threatening. Finally, she stills, and breathes a more forceful exhale before turning her gaze back to his own.
"...Truly. I am happy for you, brother."

Doesn't get out much? A brow lifts in regard to the remark, to the way that Cietan seems to speak and just as quickly regret it. For a moment, she simply stares back at him, expression difficult to read before she cracks, a smile slowly blooming across her features.
A breath of laughter is the most she can manage; not as full as some of the others, but a sound she is still learning to let herself make.
"They certainly do not."
For all that humor does not come easily to her, she can recognize the attempt for what it was : nervousness, or perhaps simply awkwardness. Whichever, she cannot fault him his... discomfort. She would be lying to say that the very sight of him had not set her on edge. Fear that someone had come to finish the job.
"I suppose this does have its advantages, in some regard. We are certainly considered unique by those who find us, are we not?" Another smile, easier now. "Though... I am not entirely certain if this is always a good thing."
