the are few lyrics that make me sadder than “familiarity breeds contempt” because uhm. no it doesn’t? irritation sometimes maybe. but there is something so sinister about the idea that the more people got to know her, the more they disliked her. and the way she talks about it in bejeweled is accepting that as fact and saying “but here’s why i can still be worthy of your love.” and it’s DEVASTATING.
i mean think about it. the old quilt your grandma made. your stuffed animal you’ve hugged countless times. the relief you feel when you finally get to see the person who understands you best. how nice it is to be in your home town after being away for too long. familiarity doesn’t breed contempt. it breeds peace. but someone made her feel like getting to know her made her seem worse

Thoughts for today.
Have you ever experienced being held in contempt by others over a past you simply cannot change? Contempt is different than resentment or accountability or anger. Contempt means, "the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn."
I've been held in contempt for many of my life choices. People I love and admire. They find it necessary to point out the mistakes of the past because they have yet to reconcile their own judgments against me, or their pain runs deeper than they originally thought.
Yes, I have hurt others through some of those actions and choices, for which I have apologized, asked for forgiveness, and atoned for those mistakes. From my perspective and because I trust in others when they say we're "ok," I assumed the cycle is complete and we can move forward in our relationship. Then, likely because healing is not linear and wounds take time to heal, I read/see something on social media to indicate they are still holding me in low regard and sometimes even publicly shaming me without saying my name but certainly calling out specific circumstances only done by me in their life or naming my relation to that person.
It's passive-aggressive, which most people mis-define. Passive-aggressive means not voicing your opinions, thoughts, ideas, needs, then getting upset with others when they don't read your mind and treat you the way in which you desire to be treated. An example is saying you don't care where you'll have dinner together, then complaining about the restaurant, food, and service the entire time. Or saying, "it's fine," when it's not fine.
I can't even begin to list off the number of times in my life someone failed to tell me they were angry with me, hurt by me, I did a task "wrong," etc. but months or sometimes years after the fact, as if I could somehow go back in time and change my behavior.
See, I'm the kind of person who wants to be the best version of myself I possibly can be. I've spent literal decades in counseling, therapy, school, online coursework, etc. even doing self-help and other certifications in an attempt to become a healthy, kind, and productive member of our society.
When I do something that causes harm to someone, and I'm made aware of it (let's face it most of us unintentionally cause harm), I do my best to be accountable for my choices and my actions, and try to not repeat my mistakes. Notice, I say, "TRY." After all, I'm human and making mistakes is part of being human. Mistakes in most cultures are considered "LEARNING" not mortal sins. Sometimes, it takes me many times to learn something... because I'm human.
The challenge for me is that I also have severe complex post-traumatic stress disorder, which means when someone knowingly brings up the past or harm I've caused... I relive it and/or all the circumstances surrounding it over and over in my mind as a triggered trauma response. My brain's neuro pathways are trying to solve an unsolvable problem.
It's starts like this...How do I fix it? What could I have done differently? Why didn't they tell me? Do they feel unsafe around me? Why am I such a horrible person that I didn't know I hurt them so badly? Of course I hurt them, it would hurt me, why wouldn't it hurt them? What was happening at that time? Oh that's right, that's when...(INSERT MY TRAUMA TRIGGER)...
It's maddening.
Why do I share all of this? I think we can do better people. I think we can communicate in kinder and more effective ways to get our needs met and to express the pain we feel when others actions trigger emotional responses.
Also, I'm tired of being held in contempt for a past I cannot change.
I'm deeply sorry and sadden by the pain that I have caused others... for the mean things I said, the way in which I judged, thinking I was funny when I wasn't, being a bully, etc. I wish I could take it all back and do differently. If you are one of those people, and you're reading this... I wish I could have known I was hurting you then, so I could have saved years of pain. Will you forgive me? How can I make this right? I'm willing to make it right...

so for the blurb thing jeongin - contempt (idk) I hope you have a great day/night/whatever💛💛💛
noun — the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn.
his frown is evident, you can even feel his gaze piercing through you as you walk away. he looks to the side, as if to pretend his attention was on the very interesting window he looks out every day during class. he mumbles under his breath all the hatred he thinks he has for ‘people like you’.
he imagines you think you’re above everyone just because you’re popular and pretty, but you tell him as such, “it’s a shame, jeongin, but no amount of money can fix your ugly personality.”

LISTEN UP WHITE PEOPLE IM GOING TO NICELY BREAK THIS DOWN.
Nigger; a derogatory term, created by a problematic white person… used by other problematic white people to tear down and degrade black people. Would you like to know the literal definition? I don’t mind sharing because it seems there are a lot of people that don’t get it.
“NIGGER - a contemptuous term for a black or dark-skinned person.” Says Google. Don’t know what contemptuous means? I got you 🤗 Let’s ask google again! “CONTEMPT- the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn.”
Black people took a word that had an awful meaning (which won’t ever die) and tried to change it into something positive/funny after centuries of embarrassment. Yes, all they did was take away the “er” and add an “a,” but that doesn’t mean that it’s a completely different word with a completely different meaning.
That being said, should white people still be able to use the word nigger which basically, directly means “worthless black person,” even if they’re talking to their white friends and aren’t trying to offend anyone, and they use an a instead of er? With what I’ve given you in the previous paragraphs… I’d say the logical answer is NO. So get over your privilege and stop fucking saying it 👐🏾

For this weeks theme, titled “Emotion”, I was given the task to set up an environment that creates the feeling of contempt. The meaning of contempt States that it is a sentiment that creates “the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn.” This exercise will draw experience to understand how to apply an emotion to a space with no dialogue.
For the project I drew inspiration from anecdotes that relate to the emotion, as well as the Clarisse Cyrron GDC talk specifically on the comment on dark souls use of verticality. Robert Yang’s local level design blog was also another source of inspiration that helped me envision my specific emotion as a platonic form and break it down into its more basic feelings. Lastly Verso blog’s blogpost on Le Cobousier showed me how the Architect manufactured building structures to display his ideologies, this part of the reading helped me device ideas to set up the game level in a way that could reproduce the feeling of contempt.
Other projects that I've drawn ideas from is the game “the binding of issac” which creates the feeling of disdain that I feel effectively conveys the emotion through its environment. Similarly, the animated show Mob Psycho 100 uses emotion as its main plot device, in which the main character releases 1 specific emotion as a special power that creates a psychedelic representation of the feeling invoked by the character.
The approach to incorporating the theme to my game is to break down the emotion to its purest feeling and illustrating them in space. What does the feeling makes you feel? Is the question I want my playspace  to answer. And I plan to depict those simpler more manageable feelings that make part of the emotion I was given. Little interaction will be made outside of a few triggers to create a more immersive experience
There might be some set backs that might prevent me to express the emotion effectively though. Im not exactly familiar with the word itself so my interpretation of it will come out of the description provided to me by the dictionary and not from experience itself. my lack of experience with level design might also be a mayor set back that won't allow me to organize the space apropiately Wilson Diaz Antigua Game Studio: Environments

Define Contempt: the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn. I didn’t know it was possible to feel whole I’ve tasted men in bitterness, wholeness, feeling complete in contempt
And I’ve been running outside the lines of possibility
I’ve let myself give in to being a body to fill the void of restless loneliness
I no longer will lay in contempt
I gave the hours of my nights away
To hold coffins close
Because I felt that I was born to ignite love
So I left the beautiful behind,
And believed that beautiful was in the making
Of the sweat soaked, bearded, naked, drunk, taking advantage of, sweet but straight from hell, never really ready for me, lying, tried to be good but genuinely bad, misreading, misguiding, untruthful, unfaithful, hurtful, lying, just plain not for me men. I won’t ever be worthless to you.
I won’t ever feel anything but beautiful.
I might learn trust,
I think I might know trust in your arms That actually smell of it I won’t get ahead of myself,
But I don’t think I will ever feel contempt again. I think now, I know the difference. I lay with you in whole body experience, planet shifting, forehead kissing, take the pain away babe, hold me when I'm numb because it's all you could want, lips born to heal, strum for happiness, actual adorn, love you because I've learned what it means to see me and love me raw. So to hell with fake, To hell with makeup And anything outside of deep application for the soul. To hell with fear of falling, To hell with the past we once colored with crayons pressed hard until they snap. To hell with it all. We were born for this, We were born for us.
