also in my apparent tradition of ‘fuck this ending, lemme do better’

my genny, while perhaps developing a crush on someone in the army (spoilers: it’s conrad), does not actually get married to someone after the war. instead, she moves into nuibaba’s abode with sonya and assists her in her research on restoring witches to their former selves. however... living with sonya has left a bit of a playful streak in her, and all mentions of her ‘boyfriend’ are just her playing around with her friends. i mean, they’re her friends. how would they never meet they guy or even know his name??????? come on??????

faye, instead of just settling for some rando she really doesn’t love and pining after alm her whole life, decides to go on a journey of self discovery after the one kingdom is stable. alm has been such a reigning factor in her life, and the realization that she couldn’t get what she wanted out of their relationship spurred her to figure out what exactly it is she wants, if she cannot have alm. a piece of her heart will always belong to him, sure, but it’s for the sake of being a better friend to him and making herself happy that faye is trying her hardest to move on.

i feel like now’s a great time to mention, given detailing plot stuff on my alm blog, that my mathilda does not give up her knighthood after duma is slain, instead settling into the role of knight-commander alongside her husband. while clive ends up something of a desk knight who takes to the field where needed, mathilda is more in charge of training and field operations. she does take time off when she and clive decide they want to start a family, but that isn’t for a rather long time after they marry.
