i’ve been thinking on and off about archiving this blog and starting fresh??

it’s for no reason in particular, just it feels a little messy and cluttered and i’d like to Do Better, soooo. Yeah. we’ll see.

TOBIN

{❧} —- “Okay okay!- I-I didn’t think it would go that badly Faye! Really. There’s no way I could have seen that Terror that was behind that tree. Also how could I have known that there was another one sneaking up on me? I thought it would have been fun to try to use a sword again.”

Obviously that was a stupid idea and he should have stuck with a bow. Then maybe he would have only gotten hit by the one Terror that was sneaking up on him than the three that he had gotten surrounded by after his sword swing had missed.

{❧} —- “There wasn’t even any glory. I screwed up. And I know that I screwed up.”

Once again Tobin trying to show up Alm had nearly gotten him hurt or killed. How many times was that going to happen?

“Of course you didn’t think it’d go that badly. Were you even thinking at all, beyond wanting to show up Alm or impress Clair? The entire point of a fight is that it’s dangerous-- Especially when Terrors are involved! They literally spring up from the ground, Tobin! It’s not supposed to be fun!”

   Okay, perhaps she shouldn’t be yelling-- If only to allow the other injured soldiers to rest properly. Faye takes a deep, calming breath and counts to ten in her head. Just like Ma taught her. It doesn’t really help, so she tries again.

“Stop doing this,” She finally manages whispering after a moment, taking a seat next to him so he can better hear him. “Stop messing around like that. You’re going to get yourself killed out there if you don’t start taking this seriously. You-- You have a family back home who love you, remember? What do you think your Ma would say if she saw you all banged up like this? What would your brothers and sisters say?

If you wanted to take up the sword again, why didn’t you just talk to Alm? We both know he’d be happy to give you a crash course and get you comfortable. Heck, even Gray would’ve done it! Or Clive, or Mathilda, or-- I bet even Lukas or Forsyth would’ve helped, too!”

What, was Kliff going to pull some ridiculous stunt to show up Luthier next?! Didn’t they realize that being reckless would only get them hurt or worse?!

“You had us all worried half to death-- You should’ve seen Alm’s face when we carried you back here! He was as white as a ghost! Did you even stop to think you could’ve gotten yourself killed, Mister ‘I have brothers and sisters to feed back home’?! I hope the blaze of glory was worth it, because you’re going to be heating up the bench for a while-- Clive’s, Alm’s, and healer’s orders!!”
