A lull falls over the white noise of conversation as a sudden thump makes them lift their heads.

He's looming above them on the forecastle deck, arms crossed, posture as rigid as ever. But then there's his right foot, pounding against the boards. Again and again and again. It's a rhythm. That's when they notice the smirk twisting at the corner of his lip, threatening to split into a boyish grin. He opens his mouth, half the crew already prepared to join him.

Brian knew everyone would die and had visions of all their deaths years in advance. ever since he had the visions, he started hanging out with the crew more often and trying to have them all spend time together before everything started going to shit. he came off as really clingy, so the times that the entire crew pushed him away, he’d just sing to himself or go play drums in his room just to keep himself busy and not think too hard about their deaths

om shanti om is a film from such a SPECIFIC period too - it's literally sitting at the point where bollywood has already made the shift out of late 90s films, but the late 00s films that are so iconic now (see: literally everything from the same yr. jab we met? namastey london? welcome?) haven't solidified in people's memories yet, so what the film and sequences like deewangi are giving is an overview of late 90s/early 00s bollywood. karishma kapoor and urmila matondkar are there! I'd say the only reason priyanka chopra, definitely the youngest person there, is in it at all, is bc of don - and can you believe don is a 2006 film? like???

and it's so wild because it almost displaces it into being something older and earlier than 2007, which is pretty much THE year in which a new generation of talent that would last permanently makes its entrance or makes itself known in an unforgettable way (see: oso itself, saawariya, jab we met, the four katrina kaif releases)
