Purim Sameach!

I spent all weekend making my shalach manot and I’m well and truly exhausted. I set up a shalach manot exchange for my shul so I felt obligated to pull all the stops out. 

The hamantaschen flavours are: Nutella, walnut and honey, Cherry Bakewell (cherry jam, homemade marzipan and dried cherries) and lemon and poppyseed (lemon curd filling with poppyseed dough). I felt like different flavours of hamantaschen didn’t really count as two different ‘portions’, so I also made hadgi badah, an Iraqi-Jewish almond & cardamom cookie. They were really easy to make and absolutely delicious, will definitely be making again.

And yes, I did make my own labels; I had leftover sticker paper from another project and I can never resist the opportunity to go a little bit overboard.

I’m really curious what other people put in their shalach manot! Please comment or reblog and tell me what you’re doing, especially with pictures.

OKAY OKAY SO lmk swap au where red son is the monkie kid HEAR ME OUT

Okay, so let's start with this, monkey king? EVIL. The dragons? EVIL.

After the passing of the remainder of the jttw squad, Monkey King relapses into his old ways. Ao Lie, the only living one among the group, turns evil with him.

The brotherhood realized the error of their ways, and took to protecting the people on Earth. "Brothers, we may not be able to over throw the throne. But, we can make a better place, here. We stand with the people, and we will protect them!"

DBK pissed off Monkey King while protect people Monkey King was trying to conquer and Monkey King trapped him a mountain.

Red Son manages to pick up the staff and free his father, much to the anger of The Monkey King— who had already chosen a successor, The Monkey Prince Qi Xiaotian.

No one is angrier that Xiaotian himself, who is humiliated by Red Son kicking his butt the first time they meet and declares Red Son to be his nemesis.

Meanwhile, Xiaotian's best friend Mei, is trying to prove herself to her parents by taking over the city and then, from there, the world. With the power of friendship and this really big sword she stole from her parents, there's nothing she can't do!

I'm also going to mention that Lady Bone Demon isn't evil, but she's still creepy and always talking about destiny. She is Red Son's mysterious and often unhelpful mentor.

I will also mention that Macaque is STILL working for LBD and he hates it— the only positive to it is that he gets to be against Monkey King, who uhhh killed him on purpose at some point.

Red Son works part time for Spider Queen, who wants to take over the city. As in, have her business be very very successful and 'take over the city'.

OKAY I will also clarify that everyone's personalities are basically the same as canon with a few minor differences.

BASICALLY it's a morality swap— the good guys are bad guys and the bad guys are good guys

I realized, about halfway through writing this, that I'd lost control of myself. This has spiralled completely out of control. I'm working on a character list. I have an idea for a joke comic. I'm doomed

I feel like now would also be a good time to share these Nightmare Hamantaschen I made earlier this week.

The concept: Cherry bakewell! A classic teatime treat!

The execution: B̸̛̺l̵̼̜̑ȍ̵̰o̵̪̝̒d̷̳̯͂̄ȳ̴͖̃ ̷͚̠͝ ̴̟̤̄͋Ï̸̤̔l̷̢̪̆l̷͍̈́̿u̸̡̔͘ͅm̶̝̩͂͝ì̷̦n̷͙̈́̆ả̴̯t̷͎̋͑i̸͆͜ ̸̡̝͗̕ ̵̟̦̄͆Ě̵̺ý̴̳͎e̶̤̞͒s̶̺̹̚.

*EDIT: I've now discovered that Ojos de Haman already exist, because of course they do; they're a North African Purim food.
