Ukraine is in this for the long run, and we should be too. Ukraine's existence is at stake – and so is the future of liberal democracy around the world.

Putin is part of a loose worldwide movement of far right authoritarians that includes Donald Trump. It is contradictory to profess to be anti-Trump while not supporting Ukraine.

Isolationists and appeasers in the 1930s claimed to be for peace. But they did more than anybody else in the democratic world to grease the skids for World War II – the worst war in human history.

Putin is akin to the Nazis. We won't know the full extent of Russian war crimes and genocide against Ukrainians until after he is defeated. But there is little doubt that he uses the same playbook as Hitler.

"MAGA Mike" Johnson has gained nothing by being Trump's House mouthpiece. The GOP caucus is even more dysfunctional than it was under Kevin McCarthy. Trump is too busy screaming "BLOODBATH" and proclaiming himself to be a dictator to bother helping out his stooge who is being challenged by other MAGA nihilists.

Mike Johnson's job is impossible thanks to disruptive Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz

Loyalty to Trump will not be repaid. He will toss you out like a used ketchup packet from McDonald's once he no longer has any use for you.

Trump's style of projection mirrors that of his sponsor Vladimir Putin. Accuse your opponents of things which you yourself are resoundingly guilty of.

It's important to call out Trump's lies and not to assume that they are too outlandish to be believed. We know that people will believe anything.

Jen Psaki reminded viewers of what Joe Biden did as Putin was preparing to invade Ukraine in February of 2022. Biden anticipated the lies which Putin was about to use to justify the attack on Ukraine. In an unusual move, Biden declassified US military intelligence on Russia's war preparations and revealed various items which undercut Putin's planned excuses.

We need to undercut Trump's unhinged bullshit ahead of time whenever possible.

You don't win by only playing defense. Keeping Trump constantly on the defensive is largely the same as keeping him from winning. And do not fear repetition; repetition is your friend – just ask any successful advertising executive.

Normally I don't post GOP ads here, but the sentiment in this one supporting Ukraine provoked discussion during the second Republican debate on Wednesday.

Of course I agree with the content; it's almost indistinguishable from what Congressional Democrats say about Ukraine. In terms of national security, aid for Ukraine is one of the best investments the US has ever made. And it puts the United States firmly on the right side of history. Assisting Ukraine to maintain its independence is just and moral.

The ad is aimed primarily at people like Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the Putin Caucus on Capitol Hill. It probably caused Tucker Carlson to go into spasms.

At the Wednesday debate, Ramaswamy put his profound ignorance and naïveté on international display by saying we should let Putin have Eastern Ukraine to keep Russia from getting too friendly with China. I know, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever – but that's par for the course with Vivek.

Good for the Czechs! 🇨🇿 All Russian state property and assets held by pro-Putin oligarchs around the world should be impounded and given to Ukraine.

The Czech government said on Wednesday it froze Russian state-owned properties in the Czech Republic, expanding a sanctions list set up in retaliation for Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. The government press office said the EU country widened its national sanctions list to include a Russian company, which is controlled by the Russian presidential administration, and is in charge of managing Russian assets abroad. It did not name the company in the statement. "Its income from operations serves directly for financing of the Putin regime," the government said in a statement. "The company's commercial activities are as of today illegal, as well as circumventing and violating this sanction, and its entire assets in the Czech Republic have been frozen," it said. In the Czech Republic, the Russian company manages a number of real estate properties, the Czech government said.

Of course that's not the only recent Ukraine news item. Ukraine has arrested a crony of Rudy Giuliani with ties to Russia.

A Ukrainian MP who in 2019 helped former U.S. President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani in his search for dirt on Joe and Hunter Biden has been charged with treason. Oleksandr Dubinsky, together with ex-Ukrainian lawmaker Andriy Derkach and ex-prosecutor Kostyantyn Kulyk, had joined an organization formed by chiefs of Russia’s Military Intelligence (GRU), Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said in a statement on Monday. Although SBU did not name the MP in the statement, the photos and video materials attached to it identify Dubinsky, whose alias, “Buratino,” was taken from a 1930s Soviet “Pinocchio” knockoff.

It seems appropriate that somebody linked to the Trump crime family would have a code name related to Pinocchio – a mythological liar. 😆

Dubinsky met Giuliani during his visit to Kyiv in December 2019 while the former New York City mayor and failed U.S. presidential candidate was filming a documentary aimed at discrediting an impeachment probe into Trump. [ ... ] According to SBU, Dubinsky, guided by GRU, spread fake news about Ukraine’s military and political leadership, including claims that high-ranking Ukrainian officials were interfering in U.S. presidential elections. SBU said the Ukraine group was run by GRU deputy head Vladimir Alekseyev and his deputy Oleksiy Savin. If found guilty, Dubinsky faces up to 15 years in prison and forfeiture of his assets, SBU added.

This clearly smacks of Putin. He wanted to boost the chances of his stooge Donald "Pee Tapes" Trump while trying to undermine Ukraine – something he had actively been doing since 2004.

Oh look, Putin’s mouthpiece at Mar-a-Lago is singing the Kremlin’s tune once again. Did Putin recently remind Trump that he still has those pee tapes? If we should worry about anything nuclear, it’s the classified nuclear documents Trump may have shared with Russia.

Putin understands that if he used nukes, the ultimate outcome would be of him ending up as a pile of radioactive dust. The nuclear talk from Moscow via Trump is a red herring.

Speaking of red, remember all of the red lines the Kremlin previously blustered about?

When you call the bluff of bullies, they lose.

We should worry less about Putin’s feelings and more about giving our friends the tools they need to help them survive.

The best way to “get this crazy war over” is to kick Putin’s butt so hard that he and his successors permanently give up the idea of restoring the wretched Soviet empire in all but name. Russia needs to understand once and for all that it must start acting like a normal country.

This war is 100% the fault of Putin’s Russia; Russia’s genocidal invasion was unprovoked and a violation of international law. Bothsiderism on the part of dumbshits like Elon Musk and Donald Trump is a public demonstration of historical and geopolitical stupidity.

Of course Trump would have let Putin take part or all of Ukraine. He was basically Putin’s vassal in Washington. And if Trump ever stepped out of line, all Putin had to do is rattle those pee tapes.

During a radio interview with Fox News host (and longtime confidant) Sean Hannity on Monday, the twice-impeached ex-president finally revealed how he personally would have prevented the war. According to Trump, all he needed to do was let Russia “take over” parts of Ukraine.

Saying that Russia was going for the “whole enchilada” with Joe Biden as president, Trump added that Russia “took over nothing” while he was in the White House because Russian President Vladimir Putin “understood” that “he would have never done it.”

The former president then added: “That’s without even negotiating a deal. I could have negotiated. At worst, I could’ve made a deal to take over something, there are certain areas that are Russian-speaking areas, frankly, but you could’ve worked a deal.”

It’s clear that Putin underestimated Biden. Perhaps Putin’s intelligence (I use that word very loosely) on how the US would react came from Trump and other pro-Russia sycophants in the US.

If Vladimir Putin “took over nothing” during the Trump administration it’s because he was hoping NATO would simply implode under a second Trump term and that he would just be able to walk into Ukraine. When Trump was defeated and Biden moved to renew US ties with NATO allies, Putin panicked and launched his militarily incompetent invasion.

For Trump to imply that Putin didn’t invade Ukraine earlier because he feared Trump is hilarious self-delusion. Putin is no more afraid of Trump than he is of his stooge Lukashenka in Belarus.

Trump has always been willing to throw Ukraine under the bus. Remember the “perfect phone call”?

Anyway, why Fox News would edit something out of a Trump convo with Hannity which makes him look bad is puzzling. Fox has been trying to boost the presidential campaign of Trump’s rival – Florida gauleiter Ron DeSantis. It’s possible that Fox thought that Trump’s comment might remind viewers of DeSantis’s own odious views on Ukraine.
