marta definitely kept the thrombey fortune & lives in the mansion for a bit ( probably through the pandemic , as this universe recognizes that time period ) , but after some time , she decides she's not comfortable living in such a big house alone. she ends up making harlan's estate into a museum for him , where fans of his books can explore his home & celebrate his memory. marta uses her fortune to help her mother become a US citizen & send her sister alice to a state college after she attains her AA , buy a small home for herself closer to her mom & sister & she invests the money & sends some of it to her family out of country & to various charities.
