cause i love to love, to love, to love you
↬ in which you have him all lovesick and smiles
Tumblr media
includes; dazai, chūya, atsushi, fyodor
notes; i am gonna pretend i didn’t disappear for 2-3 months. this has been in my drafts for so long :( i tried to clean it up as much as i could but it’s really old jfjdks
Tumblr media
DAZAI
dazai appears happy. present tense.
his typical inquiries for double suicides came to lessen to conscious degree, substituting in drinking sake together when the sun cowers, nothing but a string of nonsensical chatter proceeding each sip.
he was sticky like that: unannounced visits, impromptu phone calls, sudden changes in his schedule to accommodate yours. in any case, he isn’t one to shy from stooping as low as whining if it rewards him with your familiar face.
( his windpipes splinter before he could mutter it out loud, but the solitude that’s wedged deep in his bones for so long felt lighter when you were near. he questions how long such benevolence would last before becoming sullied by his hand… ).
…and yet all things considered, it hasn’t deterred him from courting you nonetheless. at times he can’t help but think he’s taken a bite of his own medicine when he’s the one skipping around like a helpless maiden.
and yet again in spite of it all, his brazenness remains perpetually untouched as ever. he entertains different approaches if only to coax out a new reaction from you and he’s not bashful in the slightest. so much so, he remains unruffled even under the scrutiny of your coworkers.
. . .
“ this is highly unprofessional.”
“ don’t be so mean, bella. don’t you know how much i missed you?”
your eyes flit down to the man currently using your lap as a headrest, the rest of his body stretching over the expanse of the couch. he was shameless, that much was certain, but his ability to remain unperturbed whilst in his lovey dovey state was impressive. you cocked a brow, sighing.
“ osamu.” his lips visually twitched at the call of his name; it’s a word warm on your tongue but leaves the hairs on his nape at your mercy anyway. " you saw me fifteen minutes ago—”
“ twenty.” he corrected, cheeky (and quite frankly, you wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled that number out his ass). “ but it was the longest twenty minutes of my life.”
he was unrepentant as ever, experimentally positioning his head to rest on the plush on your thighs. by muscle memory, he began to absently draw shapes wherever he could reach, a crude rendition of stars decorating over the bend of your knee.
he smiles innocently when you squint at him, the gleam in his eyes unwavering. “ only a couple more minutes and i would have been yours,” you mutter out, your voice not as sturdy as you hoped. “ at home.”
dazai almost turns pouty at that. almost. “ but my love, i’ve missed you like crazy. twenty minutes is too long, how can i possibly manage?” the words come out through a breathy exhale and you watch as his lashes kiss his cheeks when he flutters them closed. “ all i could think about is you. and now i have you right here.” he hopes his words carry as much truth as the way his heart does, scurrying away the cold that's mocked him for so long. “ can’t we just stay like this a little longer? pretty please?”
resigned to your fate, you could only clamor your palms over your features— if only to salvage your waning dignity from your coworkers.
unfortunate though… that in doing so you miss the blissful smile curling on his lips as he peeks at you from below. and atsushi notes(after throughly grimacing, not expecting him to be so blunt), it reaches his eyes too.
Tumblr media
CHŪYA
" chūya-"
" you can't flirt with me. i have a partner."
terse, stubborn and slurred. if the groggy voice wasn’t enough to confirm your suspicions, the shit-face look belonging to your boyfriend did. he was drunk. wasted if you were to speak bluntly.
in truth, it really doesn’t come off as much of a surprise; his ability to hold his liquor was nothing to brag of (despite what he may profusely argue) and you’re half-convinced he’s already forgotten his own name.
still, you don’t loosen your grip on his sleeve even under the figurative holes he’s burned with his stare. “ chūya. i am your partner.”
“you—! wha-!” his voice erupts into a sudden warble, eyes akin to saucers. " you… you are??"
he takes what’s left of his thinning rationality to study you proper; the style of your hair, your clothing, the smell of perfume/cologne, the familiar quirk of your lips—
oh, he thinks as you push back the loose bangs veiling his face. he doesn’t make any attempts to move, feet stalled and eyes blinking, evidently stunned.
you decide to press on. “ do i look familiar now…?” the lilit of your voice grazes against his ear, plucking out a faint memory tucked somewhere in the crevice of his fuzzy head.
oh. he thinks twice, the stern look bruising his face thawing.
without realizing it, he squares his shoulders in any attempt to remedy his current disheveled appearance, slumped posture pulled taut in— what he hopes— was a more put together frame. conversely, he wobbles on his feet when you continue to eat away at the distance, the ghost of your touch pushing pinpricks into his skin.
“ you’re- you’re really all mine…?” he cringes as soon as it leaves his mouth, coming off eager and hopeful. something like a laugh escapes you and he can’t tell if that’s what made his stomach turn or the alcohol. perhaps both.
“ that’s what i’ve been trying to tell you. you’re so stubborn when you’re drunk.” you punctuate the words with a kiss to his cheek, now warm with revelation. chūya, exhausting the last bits of his energy, shrinks beneath it, a gloved hand clutching his reddened face defensively.
“ why haven’t i made you my spouse yet?” he remarks it so suddenly, you nearly choke on air. he can’t even comprehend what you say thereafter or register the look beginning to contort your features, nothing but liquid courage keeping him afloat.
but- well, if there’s anything the haze trotting his head and his thinning cognition could agree on, it’s that your ring finger appears a little too barren for his liking.
( but not for much longer, he hopes )
Tumblr media
ATSUSHI
the sudden change in atsushi’s behavior was a notable observation within the ADA, many of whom watched as the weretiger became stupefied by a face belonging to you. it wasn’t long before concluding it was all the result of a crush; the culprit of which being atsushi himself who played his hand poorly at discretion.
the lovesick chatter would leave his mouth without much rationality, waxing of "[name] this" or "[name] that," and effectively becoming on the receiving end of his praises. it was almost a routine of sorts, occupied by stutters, belated responses and his fidgety footfalls. by the end of it, he fruitlessly attempts to steady his rabbiting heart— if only to stop his blush from staining beyond his cheeks.
even now as he silhouettes by the agency door, the rattle of rain is deafened by the rush of blood to his ears. he anxiously worries the handle of the umbrella in his palms, bouncing from one sole of his feet to the other. should he just ask you? maybe he should wait… now that he thinks about it would be more appropriate to just leav—
“ damn it.” he perks at your sound of displeasure, his heart spiking. “ so much for leaving in a hurry…” you stiffen, realizing you have nothing but a coat protect you from the weather. the flimsy jacket you hurriedly plucked from your wardrobe only added flavor to your disappointment.
atsushi doesn’t miss the opportunity; his feet carries him to you before the unpleasant voice lurking deep in his subconscious bullies him otherwise. “ we can share,” he gestures to his own, silently praying his voice was leveled. it wobbles anyway and by now his knuckles are sheen white as a product of his nerves.
with the organ jumping around in his chest, he almost doesn’t register your ‘thank you,’ only that his fingers were quickly undoing the straps of the umbrella before you could change your mind ( he impulsively bought it earlier that day— his previous pair worned out and far too tiny for two people. but when you thank him with a kind smile, hands slightly brushing with each step, he argues it was the best 800 yen he’s ever spent ).
… that said, a more appropriate question is how you managed to remain naive to all his pining for so long— he’s become despairingly obvious against his own good and yet he can’t find it in himself to change himself, a perpetual lovesick look copy and pasted whenever you entered his proximity.
the same can't be said to everyone else however and he wasn’t particularly pleased when he caught wind of the bets exchanged among his treacherous colleagues. he fears it's only a matter of time before one of them blabs their tongue to you. at this rate, perhaps one of them should.
. . .
" y'know atsushi," ranpo once said, offering his companion a gleaming simper. " you reallllyyy talk about [name] a lot."
"oh.”
his heart flutters, eyes slowly blinking.
" yeah,” he smiles. “ i guess i do.”
Tumblr media
FYODOR
" you've been awfully quiet, my dear." fyodor’s voice was just loud enough over the sound of clashing cutlery, fixing you a gaze of genuine interest. " is the meal not to your liking?"
you feel your lips twist into a frown. for being attentive, he (for once) falsely saunters pass the source of your displeasure, failing to recognize the extent of your internal woes. " no- no-" you fidget with your fingers, ignoring the way your propped elbows skidded against the table. the behaviour doesn't go unnoticed by the former, who takes it upon himself to hook his index fingers with yours. “ there’s something i’ve been meaning to ask of you. a… request of sorts.”
“ what is it? i’ll have it shipped to you by the end of the week,” he offers generously though it quickly fades into a confused hum when you shake your head at the proposition.
" it isn’t something you can buy…” you drop your gaze from him to the scantly poked portions of cuisine on your plate. fearing he may misinterpret your words and assume it to be unattainable - perhaps gifting you something ludicrous as a piece of land - you amended quickly. " it’s not what you assume to be either.”
at that, he bums questioningly. “ then what displeases you, my darling?” he provides a faint squeeze to your hand, igniting something warm and paradoxical to his thin layer of frigid skin. “ what can i offer to rid you that frown?”
" just your company.”
" my company?"
" yes." perplexed, he cocks his head; an invitation. willing an inhale to your lungs, you took a moment to gather possession of your words. “ these days you've been rather occupied. i was hoping for perhaps… if we may spend some time together?"
fyodor appears vaguely surprised by that, something unfamiliar fortifying around him. requesting his time felt like a hefty expenditure just in itself and it wasn’t too far fetched to assume he’ll disregard it in favor of some plot embellishing deep within his brain. but a swift refusal never comes.
“ i see,” he finally says after a brief pause. his voice was so soft you wondered if it was meant for you to hear.
it's grows quiet before he speaks again, the fingers curled around your hand withdrawing but not before providing the tips a delicate squeeze. " i can arrange some time tomorrow for you,” he proffers. “ will that satisfy your request, myshka?"
hardly anything can catch fyodor off guard, but something had to be said in the way you brightened at the suggestion, a deep curve coasting over your lips. how pleasant you are.
" yes," you hastily replied, dipping your head slightly. " more than perfect. thank you."
the way your lineaments crossed into a smile was always enduring to observe — exasperated, but one he wouldn’t mind seeing tomorrow knowing he was the cause for such elation.
( idly, he wonders what he can do to see it again ).

You and me, was any of it real?- Pablo Gavi
ANGST
Masterlist
Tumblr media
He was still there..After all this time, he was still hoping, praying..looking for you.
-----------
"How long will you stay there, Pablo? It's been hours! You are going to get cold, it's already dark"
"Aurora, leave me alone, ok? It's not your business"
She laughed sarcastically.
"Do I have to remind you that she was also my friend!?"
"No, no, don't talk like that!"
Now he turned to look at her. Angry with tearful eyes.
"Like what?" asked his sister, confused.
"In the past" he said with a sob escaping his mouth.
She sighed.
"You have to except it, hermano. It hurts me as well".
After that, he didn't reply, not like he would have wanted to. He remained silent, looking at the stars, waiting for the sun to come out, again.
There he was alone, standing on the beach, looking at the ocean, hoping for you to come back.
You disappeared weeks ago, no one knowing where you went. You had to go meet Gavi after his game, but since dinner, no one saw you ever again.
People looked for you, hoping to find you. Some say that you died and other that you just ran away with a boy, leaving Gavi alone.
What does Gavi believe? He hopes that you ran away with someone rather than thinking that you don't live anymore. He wanted you to text him and judge him, shout at him, telling him that you don't love him anymore and that you found someone knew.. he just wanted to know something of you. To know that you are still alive.
He would have understood if you didn't love him anymore, he would have let you go.. but the reason you disappeared was so off.
You weren't like that. You were the most sincere person he met, the most sweet girl..his sweet girl ...that wouldn't hurt anyone. Anyone
His was standing on the sand. Now he didn't even know who he was talking to, you or himself.
"We would have fought together. And if you thought that you couldn't do it anymore, I would have waited for you! I would have waited thousands of years and hundreds of lifes. Just so in the end to be with you.."
"I could have endured the fact you love someone else. I could have stayed with you and let you cry in my arms whenever he made you cry. I would have been the one that held the door open for you.. every single time you needed to be home.. I would have let you in"
"And we were supposed to make it work together. You loved me, and I love you... and if you hear me right now, come home. Come home and just..be"
He fell asleep at your favourite place. Your favourite view of life. He stayed there in the cold one day more, hoping that he'll find you somewhere in the stars or see you in the sunset and sunrise.
He cried and cried and cried. Begged you to come back, begged you to be ok. Save, healthy, happy.
"Just let go"
For once, he thought he heard your voice, turning around only to see his sister. She gave him a blanket and covered him before handing him a cup of coffee.
"Sometimes, you just have to let go.. if she was really-"
"Is" he corrected.
She smiled sadly.
"If she is meant to be, she'll come back. She'll eventually come back to you"
"And if not?"
"Then she would be a lesson to you. She made you capable of love. After that, you'll find another that will cover the empty in your heart"
"I don't want another, Rora. I only want my girl"
Tears were all over his face, his eyes red and puffy. Aurora put her hands on his cheeks and calming, saying "why don't you want to expect the loss and heal for the future?"
He stayed silent before talking with a shaky voice.
"Because I think this is the last thing I have of her. Somehow, I don't want to heal, knowing that I'll forget her voice and touch. Healing is like forgetting her and if I do it, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for it"
I so love angst-

I was dying at this idea, Sebastian bringing up the idea of getting a cat and Aurora and Mick get upset with the idea of it and Aurora gets upset with the thought of being replace by a cat but then Sebastian apologizes
"Mama, can have one of these?", Sebastian asked as he petted the small cat that had appeared in Corinna's garden, the small animal just about fitting in the cocoon he made with his two hands, "sure, my love!", you said not thinking much about it, having had a cat when you were little and thinking a new furry member addition to your family would be a cute thing. But it turned out to be somewhat the opposite, Aurora not really interacting with the feline, "you can go and pet him Rora, he only made a 'fffst' noise at you the first time because he was scared, he's only little after all", you encouraged her to join her brother on the sofa while he watched some cartoons with his new friend on his lap, purring away at the way Sebastian's hand was stroking his back (now much softer than the first times he did it, bless him), Mick entering the living room as Aurora approached him, "Still not friendly with the new creature?", he said as you could sense the uneasiness in his voice, "what has he done to you two?", you raised your eyebrow, "we have a dog, that's all, I'm not used to having a small animal like this", your husband shook it off while Aurora looked at the way her brother was petting the cat, Corinna calling you for dinner as your youngest very reluctantly let go of the cat.
"Does Sebastian really want to have a cat here?", your husband asked you when you were back in your own house, your head in his chest, "I think so, he seemed very happy with the idea and I also think it would be nice, despite yours and Rora's mean faces, which, by the way, she also got from you, this crease right here", you pinched the skin on his forehead, "it's not a mean face it's just, we have a dog, and now we're getting another animal and it's a cat?", he said, not wanting to sound mean because it wasn't what he meant, "Angie was being friendly with the neighbours' cat the other day, I'm sure we'll be fine", you kissed his pour away.
You got home later than usual, some paperwork coming in at the last minute keeping you for a bit longer, finally being able to relax when you saw your husband perched up against the entrance to the living room, almost making it like he was hiding from the kids, your raised eyebrow prompting him to explain quietly, "you're just in time, come here, come here!", he whispered as he gestured for you to join him, seeing Aurora and Sebastian sat on the fluffy blanket you assumed Mick had put down so they could play, "Sebastian", Aurora called for her brother, earning his attention "when mama and papa get you your cat, will you still play with me?", she asked sincerely, a pinch of sadness in her voice and your heart squeezed, "of course. And it's our cat silly, you can play with it too!", he offered, "and you won't leave me alone to play?", she searched reassurance, "of course not! All three of us will play together, and Angie can join us too!", he pointed to the sleeping dog, "and mama and papa too, although papa is afraid of grandma's cat. The other day he was trying to pet him and he lifted his paw like this", he mimicked, "and papa jumped, it was very funny", Sebastian told his sister, you not being able to keep your giggles inside you anymore, "Oh, so you're afraid of it?", you teased your husband, "it had very sharp claws!".

i promised you a crossover snippet with my babies the hawthornes and the morvants, so here we go !! i really do hope this makes you feel better !!
“so y’all do… magic?” maxi asked, quirking a brow. “i kinda thought we were the only ones who could do that.”
“you and that creepy magician guy, you mean?” dante piped up, and almost immediately quailed under the fiery glare rora sent his way. “okay, okay, don’t bring up the magician guy, got it.”
“well, i’d wager y’all are the only ones who can do your specific brand of stuff,” olly replied to maxi’s statement, pointedly ignoring how much rora looked like she was considering stabbing his cousin. “our magic and what we have to do to keep it runnin’ is a pretty different ballpark.”
“yeah, and you guys have, like, crazy creature forms,” hex noted as he plunked down next to layla, hands in his hoodie pockets. he turned to layla. “don’t you turn into some kinda werewolf?”
“i’m a creaturewitch,” layla replied awkwardly, “it’s a little bit different than a werewolf.”
“and you can talk to animals, right? can you talk to undead ones?”
“i mean, talkin’ to spirits is more olly’s department-”
“yeah, but maxi’s cat maggie, she’s-”
“hector,” maxi scolded. “let’s maybe focus on the fact that witches exist and there’s a family of them sittin’ in our kitchen before we worry about whether or not layla can communicate with my reanimated cat.”
“i’m sorry, your what cat?” layla exclaimed, but she was cut off by what dante said next, a shit-eating grin spreading across his face as he did.
“it’s not just witches in our little corner ‘a the woods, ya know. we got a couple ‘a friends whose daddy was a demon, and addy’s little ward can turn into a hedgehog.”
there was a solid moment of silence that rang through the morvant’s nice, homely kitchen. it was broken when rora finally spoke up and said, “okay, ya’ll know demons - like their daddy actually came from hell demons - and we’ve been talkin’ about magic this whole time?”
anyways !! i sincerely hope this wasn’t terrible, but i do apologize if it was 😅 and i do hope it made you feel better !! hope you’re doing well !! <3
THIS IS SO SWEET, I LOVE IT?!
you nailed them, from Hex’s hands in his pockets, to remembering Seth even though I haven’t written about him for a hot minute, to everyone’s dialogue!! this was amazing and I so, so appreciate you sharing with me, I’m queueing it so people can appreciate it properly lmao 🥰
this definitely made me feel better about being stuck in a crowded house, thank you for taking the time, sweet pea 🖤♥️🖤

AUGH.
they mentioned haurchefant in the quests and rora would just sincerely answer "i didn't know that" bc the tragedy is that she never did get to know him :( i love how i write rora's relationship to haurchefant bc it's so painfully "we COULD'VE been friends but you were so convinced that you knew me that i never actually got the chance to know you"

Building It Up To Break It Back Down
Spencer: -We were back at home, but I didn’t know for how long. I felt completely torn in half here. I was a scientist, first and foremost, or at least I thought I was. I hadn’t been able to use a bit of it to help Tati though. She was no better off after having met me than she had been before. The most I’d been able to accomplish had been to figure out that her shifting was tied to Mercury and its orientation to Earth rather than the moon like most shifters.
Maybe studying weres and shifters wasn’t the most scientific thing to begin with. It had always had the element of the supernatural about it, but I’d convinced myself that the supernatural was only what we didn’t have sufficient science to explain.
Yet, here I was willing to put all of this into the hands of magic. Logan claimed he was going to be able to help Tatiana, and I sincerely hoped that he could. There would be nothing I’d like more than to be the wrongest and least scientific doctor on the face of the planet where all of this was concerned. I needed her to have something here. I needed her to have some sense of control of her life and her shifting. I wanted her to not be afraid of her own body and the cage that she felt trapped in every time Mercury was in retrograde.  No potion or medicine or treatment I’d been able to concoct in all this time had ever done that for her for even a moment. Nothing was strong enough to overcome the power that the wolf and that planet held over her.
So if we had to put it into the hands of magic to handle then so be it. I knew she was terrified, but I wasn’t going anywhere no matter what this cost me. I was also slightly terrified of what it would cost her. I knew Leah. I knew she would do almost anything to protect her family, and I knew she was touchy, pushing things perhaps too far to make sure that happened. It left Tati feeling like she was going to be used. I didn’t think it was something Leah was capable of, but I didn’t know how a crisis would change things. And I didn’t want either one of them to regret the outcome of this when all was said and done.
I was putting my trust in Beezer to make sure that didn’t happen. He knew what it was like to be under someone else’s control, to be forced to do things you didn’t want to for a cause you didn’t believe in. That was all I had. I had to rely on his strength to overcome the strength I didn’t have, because in this group at least, I was nothing, a mere human. Any one of them could have taken me out in a blink, even Rora in the state she was in. I would have been nothing to them. There was nothing I could to to protect a single one of them, not even the woman I loved.
It was a weird feeling being entirely helpless. I didn’t know what to tell Tati either. I didn’t know if we should run and hide and wait all this out or join the rest of them. I didn’t know if we even had a choice in the end for all that everyone was telling us. I was just going to go with her whatever she decided. That was all I had. I’d start over anywhere as long as she was at my side.
She was in the next room pacing. I could hear her footsteps on the floor as she was working out what she wanted to do. I’d told her as soon as we’d arrived back at home that I was putting it all in her hands. She could decide if she wanted to stay and work at this or leave. I wasn’t going to push her into anything she didn’t want for a moment, no matter what the chances were that she was going to be able to walk out of this in control of her wolf. I couldn’t do that to her. I wouldn’t do that to her. It had to be her call completely.-
Tati: *I didn’t have answers for Spencer. I knew that that was what he was waiting for. He wanted me to make a decision. And whatever decision I made, he was going to support it. That’s who he was. Spencer knew enough about who I was to know that this was a decision he wasn’t going to be able to debate. He could tell me what he thought was the correct move. He could tell me what he would do. But he couldn’t make the decision for me. And I loved him for understanding.
But what I needed was him in the same room with me. With each step I took, I placed my hand on the door to his office. That’s where he was hiding while I tried to figure out what I was going to do. Every instinct inside of me was screaming for me to run. I didn’t want to be here for this. I didn’t want to be a weapon. But there was one person that wasn’t going to let me be a weapon.
To me, it was funny to see that the one person I had been the most terrified of was the one person who wanted to protect me in all of this. Beezer had been used as a weapon, and he understood my hesitance. He knew what I had seen the moment I was told that I needed to fight. And he understood the reason I was afraid to shift. Even if we did get my ability to shift under control, I didn’t know what kind of temperament I was going to have.
The last comment that had been made to me before we came back to our place had been thinking about moving into the Treehouse. I understood why Beezer wanted it. He wanted everyone close. But it also gave everyone the chance to stand watch as I figured out what the hell I was doing. And that was what scared me. I knew I was different. I knew that because of when and why I shifted, I was different. But the part that scared me was everyone seeing just how much bigger I got as a wolf.
There was no denying that I was bigger than an alpha. I was as fast as one, too. But being controlled by Mercury made things a little more difficult to handle. I wasn’t nice. I could be more brutal than anyone could predict. There was no way to figure out exactly what kinds of  issues I had because of how I was controlled. There hadn’t been a wolf that had ever been controlled by Mercury. No one was sure of what I was capable of. The one thing I knew was that I made sure to put myself out in the middle of nowhere for each shift.
Stopping at the door to Spencer’s office, I could only think about how dangerous all of this was. And the last thing I wanted was to worry about Spencer every time I was training. But I knew I couldn’t be at the Treehouse without him.* You can’t be around me when they fuck around with my shifting. You have to stay in the house with Aurora. Examine her, keep her calm, I don’t care. But you cannot be anywhere near me. That’s the only way I can do this.
Spencer: -I looked up when I heard her in the doorway. I knew Tati was there before she even spoke, but I waited until she started talking before I looked up from my desk with a half smile. There were about a million emotions swirling around in my head, but there was no way seeing her in the doorway to my office was not going to pull a smile to my face. I heard what she was saying, and I knew she was right. It was going to be hard enough for her to work on this whole shifting thing without worrying about me or everyone else who was watching.
But I had a feeling, just from the conversation we’d had on the ride home, that Beezer wasn’t going to let any of that happen. He had more of an understanding of this process than I ever would, and there would forever be that in common between them. It was simultaneously frustrating that I couldn’t be there for her in that respect, and comforting that there was at least someone who could be.
Whatever I had to do to help her in this process would be important. If that meant I had to stay shut away in the house when it all started, then I’d stay shut away in the house. I’d read books and check on Aurora or just work on researching something, anything to keep me out of the way until she got this under control. - You know I’ll do whatever you need, and I don’t think Beezer is going to let any of us out of the house unless it’s absolutely necessary. He’s probably more  protective than you are, if that’s even possible. -letting out a breath and walking over to her to rest my hands on her arms- And I mean whatever you need… you know that right?
Tati: *I didn’t know how to do any of this. I wasn’t sure how to agree to anything. I was still scared. I had a million and one thoughts running through my head, and I still couldn’t get myself to focus. The weight of Spencer’s hands on my arms made things a little clearer though. I knew I could tell him whatever was running through my mind, and he wouldn’t judge me for it.
My words were soft as I felt my head fall forward. My chin meeting my chest as I let out a soft sigh.* I need you. That’s what I need. I need to know that even if we decide to do this, I can still leave whenever I want. Even if it’s in the middle of the night. I need to be able to run.
*The panic was starting to set in as I thought about what I was doing. The power I was handing over to someone that wasn’t Spencer. I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t like the idea of it. None of it made me feel any better. I didn’t feel safe. And that was a dangerous feeling to have.* I don’t like the idea of leaving our house. But you need to be close to Aurora. I know you’re starting to get a little nervous since she’ll probably have the baby soon. And I know you want to be close in case she has any problems. So let’s pack our stuff and move into the Treehouse with a bunch of people that want to use me in a fight.
Spencer: -I could hear the defeat in her voice. I didn’t know if this was what she really wanted to do, or just what she thought she needed to do. And I didn’t know the right course of action to take myself. There was no telling where any of this was going to lead, or if we were going to regret it when all was said and done. It held the potential to be a good thing in the end, getting rid of the St. Pierre pack for once and for all, giving Tati a chance to control her shifting and her wolf finally, giving the rest of the shifters around here a safe place to be. And in the same token, or rather on the other side of the same coin, the possibility existed that things could end up far worse, that we could lose it all and everyone that mattered to us, or that we could just replace Amos St. Pierre with something worse.
Nothing was certain, and while I tended towards optimism, I had to admit that this was all a little more than my optimism could handle. I had to rely on hope, at the least the bit of hope I could muster for all of this. I let my hands slide up Tati’s arms to pull her into my chest as I wrapped my own around her slender frame-
Tati, we don’t have to do anything here. We don’t owe anyone anything, but if this is something you want to try then we can give it a try. And if you decide you want to run in the middle of the night then all you have to do is say so. We can go any time. I’ll make sure of it.
Tati: *He was right to a degree. We didn’t have to do anything. I didn’t have to be a part of this fight. But I owed it to Beezer to try and fight. I owed it to him to try and get the shifting under control. I didn’t owe it to anyone else. And if push came to shove, I was going to let everyone know that fact. Beezer was the only reason I was toying with the idea.
I could feel myself start to shake as Spencer wrapped me up in his arms. The only thing I could do was cling to him. As much as I wanted to do this for Beezer, I was also doing this for Spencer. I needed to be able to control my shifting. I didn’t like leaving him when Mercury took control. I didn’t like leaving him unprotected.
But I didn’t have much of a choice. It was either leave him or hurt him. And I couldn’t hurt Spencer. He meant everything to me, and I wasn’t ever going to risk him.* Even if I don’t do this for me, I need to have the ability to change at will for you. I don’t like leaving you alone when I have to shift. I’d feel guilty if anything happens. I need to be in control of myself for you.
Spencer: -I pulled her closer into my chest, just letting her breathe until the shudders that wracked her body subsided, my hands running lightly across her back until she was just breathing evenly. She was going to try, but I wasn’t going to let her go too far with all of this. I refused to let her get herself lost in all of this, and I hoped Beezer was going to refuse as well. I had faith that he was going to help her to the best of his ability.
And in the end faith was all I could manage to have. I had no way of knowing how any of this was going to turn out, but I knew that in the end I was going to do whatever was best for Tati. Hopefully, this decision was going to turn out to be the best for all of us. Only time would tell.-
Then we go. I’ll be right here no matter what happens. You don’t have to do this for me. You and I are what we are no matter what comes of all of this. I hope you know that.
-That was all I knew to tell her. I was going to be here no matter what. She needed to know that there wasn’t going to be anything that happened short of death that was going to take me from her. I was fairly certain she wouldn’t believe it, no matter how often I told her. But I was going to say it no matter what.-

Happy Birthday Ria -4
None, just some people surprising Mouse lmao-
This one is abt 800 words so it gets a read more-

---------------------------------------
As Mouse began the walk back to the lodge and circulation gate, she toyed with the necklace, lost in her own little world. She didn’t notice when someone began walking next to her, only noticing when she felt a hand pat her head. She yelps before realizing it was Rora and grinning. “What are you doing here?” Rora simply grinned at the question, handing Mouse a small cake. “I had some help, but I made this for you!” Mouse grinned at sat on the curb, taking a piece of cake and handing it to Rora before taking one for herself. Rora took a bit of her piece before speaking. “Happy birthday Mouse!”
As Mouse got back to the lodge house, Corey came up to her, a grin on his face. “Hey Mousey! I got you something.” He holds out his hand, showing her a pretty looking rock, shimmering when the winter sun hit it. “It’s gorgeous…” she says, taking it from his palm. “Thank you!” She opened her arms to as if he was ok with her hugging him, and once she for the ok from Corey she hugged him tightly. “Happy birthday Mousey.”
As Mouse walked to her selling spot, she was grabbed and pulled into an alley. She went to throw a punch, but stopped at the voice. “Calm down Mousey!” Mouse huffs and swats at the taller girl in front of her. “Cookie! Don’t do that!” Cookie simply grinned at her and Twitch shook his head, also grinning. “We got you something.” Cookie handed Mouse a small notebook, Twitch giving her a new pencil. “Happy birthday!” Mouse grinned as she looked at what she had in her hands and hugged the two tightly.
When Mouse finally manages to get to her selling spot, Tate was waiting for her with a package in his hands and a smile on his face. When she got there she went to take out a paper to start selling, but Tate handed the package to her. “Tater! You shouldn’t have!” She was both sincere, and overwhelmed, “Just open it Mouse.” She smiles at him, rolling her eyes fondy.  She rips the brown paper off the package and tilting her head confusedly as she sees the book inside. “I thought this would help you learn to read and write.” Mouse grinned at that, looking at Tate before hugging him. “Tate! Thank you so much!” He just gave her a smile. “Course! Happy birthday!”
Getting back to the lodge after she finished the morning paper, Mouse went to sit on her bunk, only to see a new shelf with all her pebbles and her old notebook on it, and Cora sitting on the bed. “Mousey!” Cora gave her a grin and patted the bed next to her, Mouse moving to sit. “I built ya a new shelf!” Mouse grinned at her, once again opening her arms to ask if it was ok to give her a hug. She grinned as Cora nodded and hugged her, the smile growing. “Happy birthday Mousey!”
“Hey! Ria!” The voice of Josie caught her attention as she began to walk out of the lodge, and she turned to talk to her. “Hey!” Josie grinned at Mouse before pulling her into a tight hug. “Happy birthday shortie!” Mouse huffs at the nickname, sticking her tongue out at her. Josie, despite that, handed Mouse a tiny sewn mouse stuffed animal. She laughed as she saw it, grinning and holding it close. “Thanks Jo.” “Course Ria. Happy birthday.”
“Hey! Mousey!” Mouse had gotten maye three steps away from the lodge when she heard Snowflake call her name. She grinned, turning to face the direction his call had come from. He ran up to her, hugging her, causing Mouse to laugh, and a smile to appear on Snowflakes face. He handed her a flower and a piece of paper, one that had a poem he had written on it. She put the flower behind her ear before looking at the paper and back at Snowflake. “Snow...I can’t read this…” She softly admits, causing the boy to grin at her. “I can help you!” Mouse grins at that, darting into his arms to hug him again. “Deal.” Snowflake grins and picks her up, causing Mouse to squeak in surprise. “Snow!” She squeals, and Snowflake laughs, carrying her to the lodge.
Mouse sighed as she finally managed to get to her selling spot. She stared at the brooklyn bridge as she took her first paper out, but yelped and dropped it as someone put their hands on her shoulders, and she threw her elbow back in defense. “Easy shortie, jeez.” Kings voice is laced with laughter, and she sighed in exasperation, but happy to see King none the less. He continued to laugh quietly, and she shook her head. “Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggg.” She dragged his name out, giving him a small glare. “Hey there shortie.” She drops her glare and trades it for a smile, grinning at him. “What are you doing here?” She asked. “It’s your birthday, I’m here to be even more of a pain in your ass!” Mouse shook her head and gave him a hug while laughing quietly. “Shut up shithead.” “Never. Happy birthday shortie.”

For @alistairappreciationweek, Day 5- Friendship
CW: Major character death
Description: Alistair loses an old friend, but realizes he has some new ones.
A/N: Day 3 of Alistair Appreciation Week is about friendship, and I continue my exploration of Alistair’s life as king.
I wasn’t sure quite what to do for this topic, and literally just finished this story a few minutes ago. Hopefully it’s still okay and makes sense despite the lack of editing ^^; Also, haven’t read Asunder either, so sorry if some of the details are off (I really need to check out these novels...)
Alistair stood in his quarters reading Leliana’s letter for what had to be the twentieth time. The last few lines, in particular:
I’m sorry you weren’t there, Alistair, Leliana wrote in her pretty, looping script. It was a beautiful ceremony. I hope it will comfort you to remember that Wynne lives on beside the Maker, as well as in our hearts.
Then it was signed: Your friend, Leliana
Alistair stared at the letter for a few more moments. Then, he folded it over and over, and placed it in the drawer of the nightstand beside his bed.
Alistair had known for years that Wynne wasn’t long for this world, but now that it had happened he couldn’t believe it. It was… unreal. Memories kept flashing back to him of the time he and Wynne had spent together—their long talks and the way her eyes flashed with humor at his questions. The letters she’d sent him over the course of the last ten years—few, but treasured—still lay in that same bedside drawer, folded up beneath the letter about her passing.
Wynne. Gone. She had been Alistair’s best living friend among their old party, and he hadn’t even been there to say goodbye. Not for the first time, he envied Leliana’s position, her freedom to move wherever she pleased. Not like him, trapped in the palace and tied to a strict routine.
As if on cue, a short, familiar knock sounded on his door. He started.
“Alistair,” said the voice. “It’s Teagan. Are you ready?”
Alistair turned toward the door, heart sinking. Why hadn’t he thought to cancel his plans? All he wanted was to sit in his room alone, maybe go to bed early. But he didn’t like to break his commitments, especially so last minute.
“Coming,” he said at last. “Give me a moment.”
He and Teagan walked from his quarters to the palace library together. When they entered, Anora and Elrec, the palace’s grumpy head of staff, were already seated at the large, round table where the four of them had their weekly Wicked Grace game.
“It’s about time you arrived,” Anora said, turning around in her seat.
Both she and Elrec already held a hand of cards each, and his frown was even deeper than usual.
“Elrec and I were playing a few practice hands,” she said. “Weren’t we, Elrec?”
The head of staff muttered something about the amount of gold he needed to win back. Anora giggled.
“Thankfully, we’ve come to the rescue,” Teagan said, taking his usual seat. “You should be able to win back that much and more from me.”
“You give yourself too little credit, Teagan,” said Anora.
As they joked, Alistair took the free seat beside Anora, feeling awkward and out of place. Their laughter brought back memories of similar times, similar games around the campfire with Wynne, Rora, Leliana, and the rest. Then he felt a tap on his arm.
“Would you care to deal, Alistair?” said Anora.
He nodded and reached for the cards.
“I’m glad you’re safely back from Redcliffe, Teagan,” Anora said as they played their first hand. “How did you find the roads?”
“Better than expected,” he replied, reaching for a new card. “But it seems luck was on my side. In a few spots it looked as though we’d just a missed a battle.”
Anora shook her head. The Mage-Templar conflict had only been getting worse in the last few months.
And bound to get much worse now, Alistair thought, remembering Leliana’s letter. He thought of Wynne again. How awful she must have felt when the conflict broke out, knowing that her people would be in such danger. He wished he could discuss it with her. She would have known what he, as king, ought to do.
“It’s your turn, Alistair,” Anora said, tapping his arm again.
He thanked her, and forced himself to think about his next move. He played a moderately good hand, half listening as Elrec complained about the castle staff and Anora clucked her tongue in sympathy.
“What about you, Alistair?” Anora said, turning from the head of staff to look at him. “How have you been?”
Alistair hesitated. This was the moment he’d been dreading all night. If he brought up Wynne, he might make the evening awkward. But he didn’t want to lie and say he was fine either. So, he cleared his throat.
“Um, actually…” he said. “You know my friend, Wynne? I received word today that she’s… passed.”
The group went quiet as Alistair briefly explained what had happened. When he looked up, their faces were full of sympathy and concern. Teagan set his cards down and reached over to squeeze Alistair’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry, Alistair,” he said. “I know she meant a lot to you.”
“Thanks.”
“That’s a dreadful shame,” said Anora. Her brows were knit in concern. “She always seemed like a very kind woman.”
Even Elrec had something kind to say: “Sounds a lot like my old gran. Sorry to hear it, your majesty.”
“Are you sure you want to continue the game?” Teagan said. “No one would blame you if you wanted time to yourself.”
Alistair shook his head. “No. Let’s play. It’ll take my mind off it.”
“If you insist…” said Teagan, looking concerned.
“If you want to talk about it, we’re here,” said Anora.
Alistair nodded. “Thanks.”
They played on, but the chatter was quieter and more subdued for the rest of the evening.
The next day, Alistair awoke to find a covered basket sitting in the door to his room. To his surprise, it was filled with his favorite varieties of cheeses, and atop them sat a small card:
I know this won’t make it better, but I this is the least I can do. Once again, my I’m sorry for your loss. The note was signed: Your sort-of-uncle, Teagan.
At breakfast, a tasteful vase of daffodils waited for him beside his plate, and with them another note:
Sorry about your friend, your majesty. Sincerely, Elrec
Most surprising of all, though, was the handkerchief he found on his nightstand that evening. It was made of fine white silk and on it, carefully stitched, was a border of fine yellow flowers. Between them were embroidered the words:
Unshaken by the darkness of the world, she shall know true peace – Transfigurations 10. With deepest sympathies, Anora.
Alistair held the handkerchief carefully in his hand. His eyes stung as if he might cry, but not from sadness. His heart was full with the knowledge that, much as things had changed, he still had friends who cared for him.

Building It Up To Break It Back Down (SL with @InColdDecember)
