i will admit i have run up the playtime on a few visual novels in my time purely because the soundtrack was really good and i sat there staring into space instead of reading for 10 minutes straight

this is what it’s like inside my brain all the time. it’s like having a conversation with someone in a restaurant and when you stop talking you suddenly pick up on the other tables conversation, which you weren’t paying attention to, but knew was happening. and there’s music too

#this is not an exaggeration my mind is very busy all the time #the secondary conversation and music are involuntary #it’s currently in japanese #and the music is usually something i heard in a video that was catchy or a song i just paused #i can stop them but i have to do concentrate on making my mind quiet #also it’s not a dissociative identity it’s just brain noise #i can tune into one by pausing the layer above it #so when i’m thinking (i think in full sentences the same way i would speak. some people are different) i’m aware of the other 2 happening #but i’m not paying attention to the details #and then when i pause my active layer i can pay attention to what is being said under it. but i don’t really control what it’s saying. and #i can hear the music behind a little better #and then when i pausd both conversations i know what the music is #the secondary conversation is usually a bunch of unrelated sentences or phrases. i have tuned into it counting before. and another time #it was having some sort of structured thought pattern #i dunno. i’m curious as to if anyone else does this #lmk

i dont mind this new spotify playlist that like has specific moods that change to what specific genres you tend to listen to at a particular time on a particular day of the week but some of the titles are a little nuts. what the hell is a liminal cat wednesday night.

#and i dont like how is shifts genres midway through when youre listening to the same playlist at different times of the day but thats more #of a nitpick thing than anything. was listening to some really great i think shibuya indie or whatever. but its what i listen to when im #working bc its catchy but not too like go go go and if i dont understand whats being said it makes it easier to tune out enough to work #but now its like you tend to listen to Fearful on wednesday nights! okay cool! what do you mean i listen to fearful music #and its not exactly indie japanese music even though im working. but whatever if it was really distracting me i would just change it #okay back to the grind i guess

#song of the day #it's not at all summer yet but it is spring!! #it's chilly when the wind blows and the dew-damp sticks around until noon but the sun is out and the sky is maybe not clear but close! #spring!!!! #I put my first early plantings in the garden today #I had planned for a bunch of marigolds but I got a different batch of flowers instead #so now what's down is rootings for a bunch of perennial flowers #sea holly and red-hot pokers and butterfly weed and hollyhocks #and then my little pea plants #I told Kelly I'd share pictures but for today it only looks like a square of dirt--I'll definitely share pics when my sprouts come in!! #beautiful beautiful garden times #summer of 2010 when this song came out was the first time in three-ish years I'd spent much continuous time with my family #my littlest siblings were old enough to be away from Mom for a while and still young enough to be lulled to sleep by the car #and Mom was very eager to be left home alone to sleep (and play this weird chicken bowling game she was briefly addicted to) #and so we went on a lot of long leisurely pointless car rides and we listed to a lot of #(I will never not hear this in my head) 96.9 The Kat! country music radio #and this got added to the short list of songs I sang to myself #it's so catchy!! cute fun moderately-bouncy little earworm and my voice cruises up and down it so easy #'when the days start gettin warmer / the sun starts sinkin slower / weekends go by faster / and beer starts tastin colder #wanna tune into a station / takes me on a soul vacation / hey there mister dj / come on won't you please play' #and crucially Dad did not mind this song--which could not be said for 'There Is No Arizona' by Jamie O'Neal #or (after I sang it approximately ninety million times) 'Just What I Do' by Trick Pony #we also had--this was very fun for me--we had exactly one CD we could play in the car (because it was stuck in the disk player) #and that was Joe Diffie's 'Third Rock From The Sun' #so many songs of absolute joy on that album. lucky as hell that Dad agreed because it meant we'd crank it up so loud #close my eyes and let the sun shine all red through my eyelids #sing some real dumbass enjoyable-as-all-getout songs at the top of my absolute voice #Dad laughing and singing along and the littles sleeping through the all of it like the precious babies they were #these are the songs of sunshine and pointless happiness! it's not summer but it will be! my garden doesn't have plants yet but it will! #sing a song!!

music being diaristic has always been true but the concept of a POPSTAR, POP music, being used as an intimate one to one. She built that bridge in 2006 and never looked backed

#I jsut saw a tweet about how taylor´s pop success and songwriter brand is a huge reason why nowadays #people are quick to call pop inauthentic. Like its fine to not write your own songs but somewhow #its now quickly labeled as inauthentic and fake #when thats not how it worked before #I mean you had the POPSTARS rmebered as THEE performers of all time #and then THEE songwriters rememebered as mdoern day poets #she´s branded herself as both and its had its impact on how the gp talks about music #and liek YES IVE BEEN SAYING THIS #her legacy as a performer and musician is a given #but if people remember her for anything #it´ll be her diaristic intimate soul-bearing songwriting to a catchy tune #obviously theres a different convo here about how good her pen actually is BUT #its the unprompted honesty that makes it stick
