i NEBER liked dean. Never. He was manipulative and borderline abusive but the scene where he's sitting on the steps of the house and asks Lorelai "She likes Jess doesn't she?" CRUSHES ME EVERY GOD DAMN TIME

Survival Efforts
word count: 465
warnings; none?
“Are you kidding me right now?”
“It’s survival, sweetheart.”
He flashes a cheeky grin, almost lightheartedly if you didn’t consider the current circumstances. You’re shivering under your flight suit, the fire doing little to warm you. Although you’d rather do anything else, you’re considering cuddling with Hangman.
As an attempt at survival, of course.
It’s just that damn cold. You’re already huddled up next to him, but having him wrap an arm around you might not hurt.
“You’re serious?” He scoffs in complete and utter disbelief.
“About not wanting to die? Yeah. I think so.”
“No complaints from me!” Hangman exclaims, practically throwing his arm around you and pulling you close.
You start to get warmer.
“Woah, don’t fall asleep on me.” He says, in a desperate attempt to keep you awake.
“I blinked, Hangman. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Okay, whatever you say.”
You move a little closer, the chatter of your teeth lessening.
He noticed.
The one thing you can’t seem to warm? Your feet.
You’re really wishing you had put on an extra pair of socks, maybe the fuzzy warm ones that made it hard to put your shoes on, or maybe stuffed some hand warmers in your socks.
So, you scoot out of Hangman’s grasp and closer to the fire.
“I don’t know that you should be that close to the fire,” He warns, so you scoot back a little, outstretching your legs.
“Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet!”
You flip Hangman off, not even bothering to face him and his tumultuous laughter.
“C’mon, that was funny.”
“Haha.” You say, sounding monotone.
Soon, the shiver comes back. He noticed it.
“You moved away from me, your sole source of heat, and look what happened.”
“There’s a fire right there, Seresin.”
“Shut up.” He begs.
“Plus, you weren’t warming my feet.” You throw in, a little offhandedly.
“You really did have cold feet?”
“No, you just smell really, really bad.” you murmur, sarcasm lacing your tone.
He scoots from his spot in the snow, a little closer to you, and wraps his arm back around you.
“You just don’t seem the type.”
“For what? Getting cold?”
“I can’t explain it,” He shrugs, adding some more measly twigs from the surrounding forest to the fire, hoping that someone will notice it. Granted, there’s another, larger fire on the other side of the mountain. “But I guess that covers it.”
The fire dwindles, the twigs moist from snow failing to sustain it. The small flame is your lifeline, your only hope.
“It’s cold.”
“No shit Sherlock,” Hangman grins, beginning to shiver a little himself. Your quip is cut off by the whir of the rescue helicopter.
“Your feet are saved.” He shouts with a grin, and you mirror his expression.
“So is my sanity!”

I have been thinking about this for awhile but what if Hangman was dating a Latina!reader and he is meeting her whole family for the first time and the readers grandma loves him and calls him handsome all time but in Spanish and he never understands what she is saying so he gets all flustered and nervous I can’t stop thinking about it.
hi! thank you so much for the request ❤️ unfortunately, i don’t feel i’m equipped to complete this request as i am not latina. i hope you find someone who can complete it, though!

This thought came to my mind in the morning and I've been thinking about it since, so in case you like it: for hangman, the reader doesn't need to be a pilot necessarily, maybe she's a mechanic or something so she's on the base and between hanging out with Jake and hearing him when he's on the air she starts picking out some of his phrases without noticing or maybe saying some words with his accent and one day it happens while she's talking with him, he notices and starts teasing her about it😅
sorry this took so long i’m literally so busy with school and i’m not happy with anything i’m writing (hence the length.) please forgive me!

habits
You’ve always been receptive. You have to be listening, have to be searching, for anything that goes wrong. If you send any pilot into the air with a faulty engine, you could lose your job.
You develop habits of unintentional mockery over time. For example; the little tongue click Phoenix does during takeoff, or Hangman’s drawl when he says “Hell yeah!” after shooting someone down, or even Rooster’s hum when he’s not following Hangman’s strongly worded requests.
You’re tightening some screws on the bottom panel of the jet, having fixed some out of place wires.
“Hey hey!” Coyote shouts, and you slide out from under the jet, clicking your tongue.
“Coyote, my man! What’s up?”
Hangman raises an eyebrow from the other side of the room, noticing your tongue click. That sounds familiar, he thinks, ready to comment on it.
You do some stupid handshake with Coyote, engaging in idle conversation before he runs to grab some water. You slide back under the jet, tinkering some more.
“Hey,” Hangman says to you, listening to you hum in response. “Would you want to go to the Hard Deck with us tonight?”
“Hell yeah!”

Heyyy, I'm leaving here this hangman prompt in case you like it :) -the reader is a pilot and they usually fight a lot but care about each other- on one of the last days before the mission they can't sleep so they get up and came across the other in the middle of the night at the base, after a little talk Jake says something like let's go and they end up watching the sun go up together🌅

requests are taking a little longer due to school!

Sunrise
“Keep your ego out of the air, Seresin.” You snarl after a particularly bad training session. He refused to let you go in for the shot, claiming that he had it.
He did not have it.
“I bring my ego everywhere, thank you!” He says, somewhat defensively. “If you hadn’t been riding my ass, I would have had it.”
“If you had listened to me, I would have had it!”
You’re seriously about to bitch-slap him, but Rooster (your savior), comes to drag you away before you can get yourself dishonorably discharged. “You need a little cooldown, [callsign].”
You don’t fight him. Rooster is right, you need some time away from Hangman.
You’re relaxing in the air conditioned common room, a bottle of cold water being held up to your head.
“This headache is seriously beating my ass.” You complain to nobody in particular. Phoenix scoffs, amusement evident.
A few days later, you’re sitting in bed. Tossing and turning in your bunk is doing nothing to ease your racing mind, instead it’s just irritating Phoenix. She’s about ready to smack you.
“I’d like to sleep, you know” She grumbles. You sit up, almost hitting your head, and stretch a little bit. Breaking curfew to grab some water can’t hurt, right?
“Alright, I’m out of here.” You say, and you’re met with no complaints when the door clicks to a close.
You check your watch and walk down the hall. It’s 4:23 a.m. and you’re praying that each step you make doesn’t echo throughout the base.
You make it outside, only bumping into two walls during the 4 minute journey. The anxieties are a bit less concentrated, but you’re still feeling it. The smell of the halls will send you right back into a spiral, so you decide to walk around a little. It’s quiet except for crickets chirping, and Hangman’s breathing?
“You know it’s like 4:30, right?”
“Do you know it’s like 4:30?”
You roll your eyes and plop down on the concrete next to him. It’s cold, and a little moist, but not the worst place you’ve been seated whilst in the military.
“So, whatcha thinking about?” You whisper, popping your fingers a little bit.
“What are you thinking about?”
“I asked first.”
“I asked second.”
“Answer the damn question, Hangman.” You roll your eyes, lightly punching his arm. “Nothing really. Your turn.” he
“That’s complete bullshit and we both know it, but I’ll tell you anyway. We’ve only got two days before the mission,”
He wraps his arm around you, pulling you a little bit closer. “You’ve got nothing to worry about.”
“Now, c’mon.” He clicks his tongue, pulling you up. You cast a confused glance in his direction, but follow him despite your best judgement.
He wouldn’t actually lead you to death, right?
The answer is no. He leads you to the parking lot, it’s got a great view of the rising sun. “Think we’ll get in trouble?”
“You’re too cautious for your own good, we’ll be fine.”
You shrug and follow him to sit in his truck bed. The only thing that leaves your mouth while you watch the sunrise is “Wow.”

Wondering if you please write where Jake "Hangman" Seresin and civilian shyreader are dating. The pilots and her best guy friend also a pilot (or navy seal or military) are playing truth or dare, like the pilots except her best friend dare her to sit on hangman lap, thinking he might ignore her or push her away but surprisingly to them he lets her and gives her lots of love and attention ♥️♥️♥️ just hardcore fluff
hope this is what you meant!
school just started so requests are going to take a little longer for me to get to. i’m sorry about that, hope you guys can be patient with me! ❤️

Can I Sit Here?
“Do it!” Your best friend says, his attempts of encouragement doing little to calm the swell
of anxiety in you. “He’s literally your boyfriend,” Phoenix says. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
“Loaded question,” You reply, taking another swig of your beer. Jake was sitting on the other side of the beach, talking to Rooster, Coyote, and Payback. You’re about to start chomping on your nails, nervousness enveloping your every sense. He’s beaming; you don’t want to ruin that by completing this stupid dare.
It’s days like these when you wish you hadn’t visited the Hard Deck that fateful Tuesday. Just two years ago, and if you had stopped yourself from going despite Penny’s nagging, you’d be fine.
You’re shaking. You’ve never been close with Coyote, Rooster, or Payback for that matter.  You preferred to stick to your little friendship bubble with Specks, Bob, Fanboy, and Phoenix.
“Wish me luck.” You whisper to the group, downing the rest of your drink. Specks gives you an encouraging pat on the back and a little push.
“Can I sit here?” You ask, making sure to speak into his head in case the answer is less than ideal. You’re prepared for the worst, voices in your head telling you to turn the other way, run into the ocean and never look back.
Surprisingly, Jake doesn’t even turn his head, pulling you into his lap without a second thought. He wraps his arms around you securely, placing his head on your shoulder (but only after pressing a gentle kiss into the back of your neck!).
You relax in his arms, and Specks sends you a cheeky thumbs up.

heyyy, i just thought of this: hangman x pilot!reader, they started dating not so long ago and then one day hangman says i love you for the first time (and first because you didn't yet) and it happens in such a simple moment that you (and maybe him too?) are surprised when it slips out of his mouth😄
WAIT THIS IS SO CUTE ANON!!

Slipped Out
Even the most menial jobs can be fun with him. For example, that time that he showed up early for your 3rd date. You were doing laundry, total snooze fest.
“Oh, shit. Am I early?”
“Yeah, give me five minutes and I’ll be done!”
“Take your time, sweets.”
You didn’t take your time. Your laundry was haphazardly strewn across your bed. “Ready!”
“Really?” He questions, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, not really, but I can do it when I get home.”
He clicks his tongue, sighing. “I’ll help you?”
“Okay,”
Your date was long forgotten. He wouldn’t stop making you laugh, and how are you supposed to hang up any clothes when you can barely breathe?
It’s the little things, you think. Like the way he smiled when playing football at the beach.
“Meet me in front of the Hard Deck in twenty.”
“I don’t work till later?”
“Bring a swimsuit!” He hangs up quickly, and you’re left to pick out your favorite before driving down.
“Hi,” He greets you with a kiss, and you notice that all of his friends are there. You wave a little sheepishly before Maverick claps his hands. “Alright aviators!” He says, capturing their attention.
“We’re playing dogfight football!”
The confused groans of the many pilots does not dissuade him. He continues to explain the rules. “This actually sounds fun?” Coyote says, and they all line up.
You opted out of playing, suntanning on the beach and watching the show in front of you. Specifically, your boyfriend, and that smile.
(and abs.)
Closing time at the Hard Deck is so ‘fun’. Penny leaves you to do all of the cleanup, much to your dismay.
“What time do you get off?”
“I have to close, babe.”
“I’ll help you?”
“Okay.”
He gets another beer and walks back over to the jukebox, laughing at something Rooster said. “Hey lady, I need a drink!”
“Sorry!” You say, running to the other side of the bar.
When it is closing time, and you kick out all the stragglers, he’s still waiting there. He reaches over the counter and gives you a kiss.
“Hi.”
“Hi, sweets.”
You hand him a rag and he gets to work, wiping down the left side of the bar. You move to the right, singing along to the random song playing on the jukebox. Once that’s done, you both take a broom and go to sweep up any of the bits of glass from dropped beer bottles or glasses.
“I love this song!” He says, dancing with the broom. You laugh, but soon follow.
He dances his way over to you, and this time, you kiss him. When the song ends, you’re doubling over in laughter.
“I love you.” He says, and the look of shock that overcomes his face is mirrored.
“What?”
He bites his lip, hesitating. You continue to sweep quietly.
“I love you?”
“I,” you start, and he fears the worst. “love you too.”

Hi babes! Currently obsessed w your writing! I wanted to make a Bradley x reader imagine where the reader is new in town and starts working w penny at the bar, and the reader is super shy and innocent and then she meets Bradley since him and the pilots frequently go there. The problem is that Bradley has a girlfriend and the reader notices ( she can also be a made up character who’s also a pilot for the sake of the imagine) but she gets sent to a mission or to another city and Bradley takes advantage of the vulnerability of the situation to get closer to the reader and have a summer fling w her, yet once the girlfriend is back he goes back to her like nothing and leaves the reader heartbroken. This is literally based on the Taylor swift love triangle; august James and Betty! And how the reader is august and her pov reflects how she lost someone that she never had. I love this imagine so much it’s my first time requesting a rooster imagine 🥺 I absolutely love Taylor and august is my birth month and my birthday is approaching it would mean the world to me if you could make this happen 😌😌💕
NO BC FOLKLORE IS LITERALLY MY FAV ALBUM EVER AND I COULD WRITE A DAMN ESSAY ON BETTY, JAMES, AND AUGUSTINE

August
“Hey,” was the start of this all. This whole debacle started because he said hey. You should have known; you saw her.
It did start innocently enough, he was a regular and you worked there. A new job and a new town. Penny was courteous enough to help you at the bar, but he always waited to order for the rare moments when she was busy, or running to grab more rum.
“Hey sugar, two more beers please.”
“Coming right up,”
You didn’t need anything more than that. Sure, you wanted it, but his arm was always around her.  All the pilots are sitting at the pool table, and for the whole month you’ve worked at the Hard Deck, they’ve been there every saturday. Without fail.
You’re racing around, but every time you stop and breathe in the moment, your eyes are drawn towards him.
August 1st. That was the day he showed up, alone. No other pilots in sight. She wasn’t there.
“Hey,” He says.
“Rooster, what can I get for ya?” You sound excited to see him, even though you’re almost certain that he’ll ask for a beer.
“Your number?” You’re shocked. He’s laying it on thick, for the first time that he’s appeared without her anyways. “Order a round and I’ll tell you,” You say, a little shocked at your forwardness. “I’ll take a beer, then.”
Sure enough, your number is lying at the bottom of his receipt.
You’d be lying if you had said that you weren’t excited for him to call. When he finally did, you cancelled all your plans. That friend you had made? Hanging out with her didn’t matter right now.
Soon enough though, it wasn’t just canceling when he called. It was in advance. Everyone got a “Sorry, I can't do anything. I have work stuff.” or sometimes a “Can’t. Families in town.”
It was worth it, right?
August 10th. You’ve met up with him a few times, and you’re falling hard. He’s perfect, but if you had thought longer you would have found his fatal flaw.
“Hi baby,” He said over the phone. You’re sitting at your apartment counter.
“Hey!”
“You wanna do somethin’ tonight?”
“Yeah, what?”
“I’ll pick you up behind the mall?”
“Sounds good, Roo.”
He pulls up in that stupidly charming Bronco, and you hop in without a second thought. You wake up next to him, again.
August 14th. He’s being weird. He’ll call you, and talk to you at the bar, but ushers you away from his friends. Like he’s ashamed. You should have pieced it together, you think. From what you knew, his ‘ex’ (who you’ve never really talked about) is also a pilot. Now, however, you know that she was on the other side of the country.
To put his odd behavior out of your mind, you switch sides with Penny. You’re facing away from the pool table because, out of sight, out of mind. You wish it were that easy now.
“Hi, hun.” He greets you when you step out of the bar. Your coworker agreed to take your shift a little earlier than required, and you’re going to take advantage of it.
“My place or yours?”
August 16th. Doubts are settling into your mind. The weird behavior doesn’t change. You haven’t even really met his friends, and everything you know is from him telling you, or you watching from behind the bar. He keeps shoving you away when he’s near them, and it’s weird.
“Rooster, why haven’t I met your friends?”
He looks like a deer in headlights. You’re lying next to him in bed, cuddled up. “I didn’t know you’d want to meet them?” He chokes out, and you nod, accepting his answer.
If you’d pushed a little harder, maybe it wouldn’t have hurt so much.
August 20th. This time, it was you initiating something. “Get in the car!” You had said, somewhat jokingly, but he did. So, you drove to the beach. The air was salty, and so was the water sliding between your toes, but you couldn’t have asked for anything better. Running across the beach with Rooster. You never needed anything more, just being with him was enough.
August 23rd. He’s dancing with you in your kitchen, pancakes on the stove inevitably burning. It’s the first night he’s slept over, and he tried to surprise you.
“Flip the pancakes!” You laugh when the charred smell finally reaches you. He’s swatting smoke away and you’re opening windows, trying to guide the smoke out. You’re almost choking when he comes over to kiss you.
August 28th. It’s the last real day of it all. He drives to your house to pick you up, and you go to the movie theater. He smiles at you, but it doesn’t feel right. It didn’t feel right. It wasn’t right.
August 31st. He walks into the Hard Deck, 8:15 P.M, and your day instantly brightens. “Two beers, please.” He says to Penny.
His arm is back to being around her.
It was all a lie.

I've been thinking about this prompt for hangman x reader, you can write about it if you want: for some reason (maybe something that happened on another mission that the reader did) she can't help but worry a lot about the new mission they're training for and she can't stop her thoughts so every time she's not training she's always reading a book, hangman notices this and understands that she's doing it to avoid thinking and talks to her
switched it a little but basically the same so yeah!

Talk To Me
“She’s always got her nose in a book,” Hangman says, and Rooster isn’t really listening. He nods absentmindedly, and Hangman takes that as a cue to continue. “I’m worried.”
“Uh-huh. Ever think that she’s worried?” Rooster mumbles, still not really listening. Hangman’s relationship problems are the least of his concern when he’s talking to the cute bartender Penny just hired.
Jake is struck with realization. “I gotta go,”
“Bye?”
He’s racing home, and sure enough when he gets there, you’re reading on that awkward little loveseat you bought three years ago.
“Hi hun.” He says, reaching down to kiss your cheek. You nod in acknowledgement, putting your book down. “You beat me here.”
“Always,” You smile, and he takes a seat next to you. He calls in an order for some takeout and you pick the book back up.
You’re beginning to decide it’s much easier to distract yourself with a good -or bad- book than to think about this mission. “Sweetheart,” Jake says for the fifth time trying to capture your attention. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, fine.” You snap the book shut, turning your attention to whatever sitcom is playing on the tv. “You know you can talk to me,”
You hesitate for a minute. “Jake, I’m fine.” He leaves it at that, but he’s still worried.
Dinner is quiet, and so is going to bed. His worry only increases. He’s trying not to push you to tell him, but boy does he want to. “Goodnight,”
“Night, Jake.”
You don’t know what time it is when you wake up shaking, probably past two. Your breathing is heavy and your eyes are filled with tears.
“Hey, what time is it?” Jake asks groggily. You shrug, not trusting your voice. “What’s wrong?”
He sits up and wraps an arm around you, rubbing your shoulder comfortingly. “Nothing, I’m fine.”
“Sweets, respectfully, you’re not fine. You can talk to me.”
That’s all it takes for you to break down, tears streaming. “I’m scared for this mission.” You confess in between sobs. “I’ve been trying to distract myself and it’s not working.”
“If anyone can do it, it’s us.” He says, and sure, you’re still worried. Being next to Jake makes it a lot better though.
