who’s afraid of little old me? I was tame, I was gentle.
‘til the circus life made me mean. Don’t you worry folks.
we took out all his teeth. Who’s afraid of little old me.
you should be.

i know "Peter" is a reference to Peter Pan (remembering cardigan rn, second time she's using this) but for some reason my first thought was Peter Pevensie from Narnia lol
(the mention of words like "closet", "leader", and "lamp" among others did not really help hahaha)

Susan is my favorite Pevensie, not for who she was in the books, but rather for the symbol she became. Her ending is ambiguous, open-ended. We do not know if she found her way back to Narnia and, more importantly, Aslan. We only know that she drifted from and lost her faith. But C.S. Lewis made the point to say that her damnation is not a forgone conclusion. And that is so important to me.
The Chronicles of Narnia are, without a doubt, a Christian allegory, possibly the most famous and widely read Christian allegory in modern times. And there is a character who has lost her faith but whose story does not end with it gone forever. She is not damned for having lost her faith. She suffers for it, yes, but her suffering is not the end, simply the middle, with possibility and hope on her horizon should she choose it.
That is possibly one of the most important messages of The Chronicles of Narnia, especially in this day and age when more and more young people are setting aside their faith (usually after bad experiences, which, hey, if you need space from toxic interpretations of God's Word, I don't blame you).
The important thing to remember is, turning away now does not prevent your return, however and whenever you find your way back. God's love is neverending and He will not turn away those who come to Him in good faith, no matter how long they were gone (and don't let anyone ever tell you any differently).

I love how Peter wears his heart on his sleeve in the movies. Yes, he's a teenage boy, and he is quite brave and noble and a natural leader, but he's also very open with his emotions, he's not afraid to cry, or offer comfort. He can put on a tough face when he must, but he just exudes a spirit very much in line with Aragorn or Éomer I think, especially as he would get older and more mature. The good representation of masculinity is strong with this one.

Thinking about how Cor, the boy who "was used to hard knocks," wound up with a brother who was famous for boxing, "and all their fights ended (if they didn't begin) with Cor getting knocked down." Just the idea that this abused child can go from being cuffed and kicked and bruised to realizing that some blows are affectionate. Some blows are playful. And, most importantly, he's allowed to hit back. Can you imagine the first time they get into it, and he realizes he can hit back? This slave boy finally has a right to defend himself, and he and his brother can fight and throw each other around because at the end of the day they are completely confident in their love for each other. If Cor gives Corin a bloody nose, they're still going to be friend by evening. It makes me emotional to think how for so long he had punishment, and now he gets affection and confidence in his position and a brother who he may fight with, but who will never EVER be genuinely trying to hurt him. I just think there's something important about that, about Cor feeling safe enough to fight with Corin even when he knows he's going to lose, because he knows it's not a punishment. It's not a beat down. It's a good clean honest argument, and both of them are going to walk away from it perfectly safe.

There are lots of things to thank you for,
Lots of things to be sorry for,
I wish I could turn around and go back,
So please…
Forgive me
