it’s crazy how i don’t know what any of you do for school/uni/work? who are you guys outside of tumblr? what do you work as??

I am STILL utterly baffled by the conversation i had with a cashier last week while buying groceries this is going to haunt me literally for ever

#he said like OH you spent so much #and i have no earthly idea what he was talking about #bc i actually spent on the lower end of my grocery budget?? and i live in a HCOL so everything is insane here and i was very obviously #buying groceries for Not Just Me as someone was even with me at the time #i went to work on monday and was like???? how much do yall spend on groceries a week and everyone said way more than i do #WHAT was he talking about

if you got an additional line of income that guaranteed your basic needs would be met, (notes below)

notes:

- the money can come from whatever source you'd like to imagine. UBI, sugar daddy, magically delivered in unmarked bills onto your dining table overnight by elves, blackmailing jeff bezos, wherever

- it will keep coming indefinitely

- basic needs: housing, food, medical care, clothes, etc. You would not be rich, but you would have enough. It will rise with inflation and such, to have the same purchasing power as before.

- any money you earn at your job (or anywhere) is on top of the basic needs money. How much you get is not affected by how much you make elsewhere

- vacation doesn’t necessarily mean you go anywhere; you just don't need to go to work

#i would take a vacation then return to work with reduced hours/days #and i dont trust the premise w/ the way i was raised i have never felt secure that things will turn out ok/as they are promised to turn out #so i would be petrified of one day having the rug pulled out from under me. #in this theoretical situation where i didnt need the a extremely specific healthcare i have i would maybe try and get a different actually #enjoyable job

#lowkey got inspired myself to stop doing 30mins unpaid labor every morning because i got to work too early and ppl were already #asking me for help to bring things to court #i just hide in the breakroom and journal for 30mins or drop my stuff and go grab a coffee

Life may be terrible but at least i have Katamari ig

#i blasted through we love katamari and beautiful katamari and katamari damacy again in like 2 days every time i close my eyes i see cows #is it the healthiest coping mechanism to sear the image of the king of all cosmos into my retinas at 11PM on a work night? #no. do i have katamari on the rocks stuck in my head? yes. #anyway katamari damacy is still the best one but beautiful katamari is also pretty good and takes a lot of the things i liked about katamari #damacy in a good direction. we love katamari is an absolute disappointment though. the only interesting level is the underwater/fishing #level and in so annoyed that it didnt have a eternal mode if any stage in any of the katamari games needed one its that one. #ANYWAY

there's a tortoise at work and he's 30 years old and I love that he's 30 years old because I can look at this animal that is 3 years older than me and go "does the man want his appy slices??" and he hustles over cause the man do want his appy slices

#this does not happen to me ever #maybe a handful of times when i was very young #but i always make it a point to compliment other ppl randomly a few times a day while out on the street #bc the way someone lights up always makes me feel better and its such a easy social interaction
