"I realize it can seem counterintuitive to tell you that your magical education will require reading books outside the witchy section of the bookstore, but I truly believe they might be even more important towards your spiritual development than the witchy books themselves. Art history will help you understand symbolism and visual metaphor. Chemistry and biology will help balance out the information provided about the natural world. Invariably when people come to this spiritual path, they look for reading lists. When I’m asked for such a list, I tell people that I believe you need a well-rounded mundane education as a basis for spiritual exploration. In my opinion it will help you when you’re unpacking your experiences or assessing what you read, and critical thinking skills like these are essential. This advice isn’t relegated to just books, either. It goes for documentaries, lectures, public events, et cetera.

i think that sometimes the best thing that you can do is remind yourself that there are beaches. lakes, rivers, and ponds. there are forests. little woods and meadows. there are canyons. gullies and mountain cliffs. there are rainy days. dry spells and scorching blue skies. that the world turns. changes as much as it repeats. that feeling slow today won't stop tomorrow's high tide. won't make july's blackberries any less ripe
