Today is the first day acceptances go out!! It's still early in the morning for me, but I'm so excited I can hardly wait!

Acceptances will start going out at 12pmEST (Friday, Dec. 29th)

Acceptences will stop going out at 11:59pmEST (Sunday, Dec. 31st)

If you get a Friend Request from someone named Jingotastic, that's me!

Once you recieve the link, you'll have 1 week to heed it before it expires!

3 days into your week, your backup contact (if provided) will recieve a message letting you know it's waiting for you and what account you used!

'Ello! This might've already been answered somewhere else, apologies if so! Just curious to know if the server itself would be open to ppl who aren't currently active in the RP? ^^ Missed the grand opening due to sickness but I'd love to snag a kit/loner spot at some point, though chances are high that I'd miss openings if not in the server (I keep up with discord a lot better than Tumblr).

If you don't want to have an open server though that's totally understandable though ofc! Just figured I'd ask. ^^

So no, the server won't be open to those that haven't already joined the server - this is mostly for safety & security reasons! I've been playing this game for a long time and you will not believe what people think they can do to you & yours when you tell them you are kind!

I don't go in thinking anyone will do such a thing, but you know how it is.

Once you've joined, you do get a free pass to hang around if you end up losing your character via death or exiting the clan. you get 12 months to vibe with your clanmates before you have to take the next opening, or less if you like!

How many openings do you think will be in an event?

That's going to vary a bit, because it depends on how big the latest litters were & how many cats are currently in Summitclan, plus what the weather is like! Harsher weather = less loners coming in. If the weather has been nice in the Addies, the slots will likely be more numerous & litters are likely to be bigger, esp if the weather has been consistently agreeable for a good while.

i find myself enamored with the world you've sketched out here, this living thing that we may carve into with gentle claws. if i remember right, you mentioned offhandedly that a player might leave a mark on a tree or a rock, and come back months or years later to see new characters interacting with that piece of the environment ... how magical! what a simple and wonderful delight! do you have systems in place to enable this sort of small-but-tangible player-environment interactivity, or places where small details like these are documented?

Yes, I do! At the moment it's going to be tucked into the Ultimate Guide (<- the lore doc for Summitclan). Over time these details will cycle out and be replaced with the latest activity, but certain things last longer than others!

Thank you! I'm so glad the transparency is something that's been noticed, because I find that very important. I want people to expect it from me not because I keep verbally reassuring I will be: I want people to expect it because they have proof through my actions. And I want to lead by example. How can my community behave the way I tell them to if I don't?

It's admittedly a little intimidating to be this open, but that's the good part. It helps me grow, and it helps me connect. It helped me clear up confusion and talk about one of my favorite features of SCC, and it helped me learn a lot about the people that applied to be part of my project!

If anything, scared people will know I am good, and angry people will find little to sink their teeth into, right?

i was thinking about summitclan again and i already sent an anon about how much i like the kitten/name systems but what i didn't say at the time (i think, anyway) was how much i also like the limit of 1 cat at a time! as someone who was part of 2 ff.net rp forums and also spent a lot of time on the roblox warriors rpg games, i always preferred the latter system over the former because it lets you really focus on the development of 1 specific character & in both forums without a character limit, everyone ended up making way more characters than they needed to, some who were hardly touched in the end. as i commonly find in creative works, there's a lot to be said for narrowing your focus to one specific thing that you can play out really well and intricately!

I love hearing about other people that have tried this system of their own volition and came out pleased - plus, I totally relate to seeing people compulsively making characters only to forget they existed! It always irritated me to look at impressively lengthy allegiances, knowing a good 75% of the names only had a bio or 2-3 posts to their names.

I agree that narrowing your view tends to make for a better story! Especially in a slow burn scenario; you get to teaze out every barren detail of your character, so that when huge events come upon them, we have a lot of context to be attached to them with - a lot of setup for impactful parallels - and ways they might be able to learn from those experiences.

day one nearly over! how are things going with the applications? i'm excited to hear how things are going along, is it going slower or faster than you thought it'd be?

Things are going better than I expected - it's surprisingly quick, when you figure out a good system through much random trial and error. I didn't expect so many apps so I'm kind of winging this but I've got it now!

I'm really excited by the apps I see! Lots of sweet & compassionate people, and people I think I will come to admire!

Summitclan's Home

The true birth of Summitclan occured after my fiancee and I toiled up the great side of Buck Mountain, but there was another mountain that was just as instrumental - Roostercomb.

The journey to and up Roostercomb was fraught with uncertainty; we had originally gone to take a different hike, but complications turned us away. Roostercomb was a hasty decision made in disappointment, and it showed - the trek up was hard, steep and confusing. Quite often we turned ourselves on our own heads, the trail markers the same color of the leaves and scrub around us - a pale orange. Come on, man!

But the view was legendary. Of course it was. It was this view that inspired the view Summitclan has from its vantage point - from their home you can see a vast, great distance below.

For Christmas this year, my stepfather handed us a map of the Adirondacks High Peaks area. While Roostercomb is not one of the legendary Forty-Six, it does live among them... that said, here is the area around Roostercomb on said map! How small our warriors will be, eclipsed by so many great behemoths!

But size does not equal importance! When making a character, it's paramount to remember how big the world around them is, because small creatures fight hard. To us a seed means nothing, but to a mouse? Everything!

The cats of Summitclan hold near to them the changing of their world, the changing of their friends, and of course - the sameness of the moon and sun, light and day, death and birth. The world is huge, but when you look upon the moon, so too has your most distant ancestor - and remarked at the shape of a rabbit in its craters!
