In all likelihood if you are a parent you have seen mentions of Ask.Fm in the media in association with cyberbullying and teen suicides (*9 youth suicides in 2013 mention Ask.fm). If you have seen this, you have probably jumped to see if your child uses the site. It is also likely you have sat down with your child to discuss the site and how they can be safe using it or even denying them use of the site (especially if they are under the age of 13).
But do you know if your child is using a similar site called Qooh.me?

"We've seen a lot of cases where parents would come in and say my son or my daughter had been dating somebody. They broke up. Now all of a sudden there are all kinds of pictures out there on various social medias," says Lt. Mundy.  Now this new law holds both the sender and receiver accountable, a law Lt. Mundy hopes will cut down on teen 'sexting' all together.  "You can set all the privacy settings you want. Somebody is going to see it that you didn't intend to see it" Do you agree or disagree with holding both minor parties responsible? Whisper: Good or Bad App? What if the secret wasn't so secret?  On the Internet, it's easy to create a new pseudonym or personality.  Users anonymously share "whispers," which are stylized cards that share deep secrets formatted on images. While you can like and comment on whispers, there are no profiles. This means, in theory, no one but you can track your activity. Here is our take (Proceed with caution): http://www.submitthedocumentary.com/whisper-secrets-mobile-app/

We can change, but it must be a sense of movement… of community. Whether it’s in our schools, our religious institutions or our larger communities. We can stop it and we must stop it. http://www.5minutesformom.com/84124/submit-the-documentary/

Submit the Documentary exposes the most epic struggle in the digital, Internet age: cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is bullying by means of electronic technology committed through email, instant messaging, mobile applications, social media, chat rooms, and blogs or through messages and images sent through a cell phone. Because of the anonymity, kids who never thought of being a bully are becoming harassers. By exploring the complicated dynamics behind cyberbullying, Submit the Documentary describes the impact and outcomes of advanced technology and human nature in a lawless, new, social frontier. In the worst cases, kids and teens take their own lives as the families in Submit the Documentary know all too well. Their narratives describe their close encounters with cyberbullying in heart wrenching detail compared to the lighthearted innocence of kids blithely describing their experience with sexting. http://www.submitthedocumentary.com/aboutacyberbullyingfilm/

Do you think  1) A Federal Law against Cyberbullying would help reduce bad behavior on social media?  2) Should it be left to the States to handle?  3) Should Parents or the Schools do more?  Florida is planning to take the issue to Congress.http://www.news-journalonline.com/article/20131014/NEWS/131019740?p=3&tc=pg

Today on National #ComingOutDay we remember a dad on a mission to spread awareness about #bullying as he walked across the country. Unfortunately it is with great grief, thoughts go out to his family and friends during this hard and very difficult time: Father killed by truck as he walked across America in memory of gay 15-year-old son who committed suicide after being bullied at school Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2453092/Jadin-Bells-father-Joe-killed-tribute-walk.html
